What the MaxiPublica Zapier integration is for
The MaxiPublica Zapier integration connects your MaxiPublica account to your other tools through Zapier. MaxiPublica publishes new and used car inventory on more than 35 classified sites and social networks and gathers the leads they bring. Zapier takes each new lead and hands it to the app you choose.
Three things to build on the New Question trigger. A single lead log: every new lead becomes a row in a spreadsheet, so you can sort, count and share them without logging in to MaxiPublica. A quick heads-up: the same event sends a short message to your team chat, with the lead's details, so whoever is free can pick it up. A cleaner pipeline: the lead lands as a record in the CRM where your follow-up already happens, instead of being copied by hand.
Now what Zapier does not do for MaxiPublica. It offers no action and no search, so a Zap can read leads from MaxiPublica but never write anything back: no updating a lead, no changing a listing, no looking up something that already exists. Every write happens in another app. Note also the naming: the trigger is called New Question, yet Zapier describes it as firing on a new lead, so check at the test what it brings back.
If you are still deciding on Zapier itself, see our Zapier review first.
Zapier vocabulary, the short version
Eight terms come up on this page. Here they are once, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Here it is New Question.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you in an app.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan is a count of them.
- Polling vs instant trigger
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app as soon as the event happens. New Question is instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your MaxiPublica account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap and every step that needs MaxiPublica.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap that goes beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
What a MaxiPublica Zap really costs
The MaxiPublica side costs nothing: the New Question trigger never uses a task, however many leads come in.
- New Question trigger0 tasks
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Premium appNo, works on the free plan
You pay in tasks for the steps after it. Each action that completes counts once, so a Zap with two actions uses twice what a one-action Zap uses, and a failed action is not counted. MaxiPublica is not a premium app: it works on the free plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, each limited to one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and that takes a paid plan. The grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger on each plan; it does not apply to New Question, which is instant whatever your plan.
Connect MaxiPublica to Zapier
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. Before you start, you need a MaxiPublica account of your own, plus access to anything owned by someone else that the Zap should read.
- 02
Pick MaxiPublica
Type MaxiPublica in the search box of the dialog, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the MaxiPublica side, where the sign-in happens.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to MaxiPublica in that tab and allow Zapier to reach your account. The connection then shows on the Apps page, and every MaxiPublica step in every Zap can reuse it.
Your first Zap: a lead log in your spreadsheet
GoalEach new MaxiPublica lead that passes your filter becomes a row in your spreadsheet.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap and choose MaxiPublica as the app that starts it. Pick New Question as the event and select the connection you made earlier.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from your account, so you can map the next steps on a real lead rather than a blank.
- 03
Add the filter
Click the plus icon, add Filter and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value to compare with. This step makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the spreadsheet step
Add your spreadsheet app, choose the event that adds a row, and map the lead's details into the columns. Test it once and read the row it created.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, each new lead goes through the filter and, when it passes, lands in the sheet without you touching it.
The MaxiPublica trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in MaxiPublica, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Question
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new lead is created.”
Starts your Zap each time MaxiPublica creates a new lead, and passes that lead's details to the steps that follow.
When a MaxiPublica Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to MaxiPublica, so the cases below are the general Zapier limits that apply to this trigger.
Here are the general limits to know: several are things the Zap does not do rather than errors. If something looks off, start with our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Older leads never arrive
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Leads already in MaxiPublica are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.The Zap keeps restarting itself
As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and eats your tasks.A big batch gets held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back. Two steps, then the wall
On the free plan a Zap stops at one trigger and one action. Adding a filter or a second action turns it multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
