Overview

What the Learnistic Zapier integration actually does

Learnistic lets you build and sell courses through your own branded mobile app. Zapier connects that app to the rest of your tools. Events in the app, such as a first login, a finished lesson or a purchase, start automations elsewhere, and your other tools can tag, update or remove contacts in the app.

Three results worth building. Buyers tagged on the spot: On IAP Purchased fires when someone buys an in-app product, your CRM records the sale and Apply Tag marks the buyer in Learnistic. Carts won back: On Abandoned Cart tells your email tool who left a product behind. Clean exits: Remove All Tags or Remove Contact take a person out when your billing or CRM says so.

What Zapier does not do here. There is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up a Learnistic contact before acting; every action relies on the email you already carry. There is no action to create a course, a lesson or a product, and no trigger on a new contact. Every trigger and action asks you to pick the app, and most also a course, product or tag list, so one Zap watches one precise thing. And nothing that happened before the Zap went live is picked up.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words you will meet in the editor, explained once here and used as is afterwards.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier simply waits for that event to come in.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or changes something for you in an app.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan is counted in tasks.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a fixed timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up a record that already exists in an app. Learnistic offers none on Zapier.
Cost

What a Learnistic Zap really costs

Learnistic is not a premium app, so it runs from the free plan. Triggers never cost a task: only actions that succeed are billed.

  • TriggerFree, never counted
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan

The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each capped at two steps: one trigger and one action. Logging every purchase in a sheet fits. Add a filter or a second action, such as tagging the buyer after updating your CRM, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Every successful action counts on its own; a failed one does not. The interval grid applies to polling triggers only, and all seven Learnistic triggers are instant.

Connect

Connect Learnistic to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Learnistic account linked once and then reused by every step that needs it.

  2. 02

    Pick Learnistic

Search for Learnistic in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Learnistic side, which is where the actual sign-in happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Learnistic in that tab and let Zapier in. You need a Learnistic account, plus rights on any app, course or product you do not own and want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: record in-app purchases and tag the buyer

GoalEach in-app purchase updates the buyer in your CRM, then tags them in Learnistic so the app knows what they own.

  1. 01

    Set the trigger

Create a Zap, pick Learnistic and On IAP Purchased, then choose the app and the product to watch. Testing brings back the three most recent items.

  2. 02

    Add the CRM step

Add a step on your CRM to update the contact, and map the buyer's email and the product from the trigger into the fields you keep there.

  3. 03

    Add Apply Tag

Add Apply Tag. Pick the app and the tag, map the buyer's email, and decide on Send app invite, which is a required choice.

  4. 04

    Test every step

Run each step once and read what came back. The test really tags the contact, so use a buyer you can clean up with Remove Tag afterwards.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch it on. Two actions make this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan, at two tasks per purchase.

Triggers

Learnistic triggers on Zapier

7 events start a Zap when something happens in Learnistic, and 7 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

On Course Complete

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a course is completed.”

Starts your Zap when a learner finishes a course in your Learnistic app. You pick the app and the course on the trigger, so the Zap watches exactly the program you care about.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a completion should update your CRM, unlock a next offer or tell a coach the learner is done.
Watch out
App List and Course List are both required, so covering several courses means one Zap per course.
2

On First Login

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when user logs in for the first time in an app.”

Catches the very first time a user opens your app and signs in. After that, later logins stay silent, which makes it a clean signal that onboarding has begun.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
start a welcome sequence in your email tool only once the person has actually got into the app.
Watch out
the App List field is required, so pick the right app when you run more than one.
3

On Lesson Complete

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a lesson is completed.”

Fires when a learner completes one specific lesson, the finest level of progress Learnistic reports to Zapier.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a key lesson should unlock something outside the app, such as a booking link or a worksheet sent by email.
Watch out
you must pick the app, the course, the topic and the lesson, all four required, so each Zap follows a single lesson; watching a whole course is the job of On Course Complete.
4

On Abandoned Cart

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an in app product cart is abandoned.”

Tells you when someone puts an in-app product in their cart and leaves without paying. It is the classic recovery signal, available here per product.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
your email tool should send a reminder, or your sales team get a heads-up, while the interest is still fresh.
Watch out
App List and Product List are required, so one Zap covers one product; plan a Zap per product you want to recover.
5

On IAP Purchased

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an in app product is bought.”

Goes off each time an in-app product is bought. You choose the app and the product to watch on the trigger.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
record the sale in your CRM or accounting sheet, then tag the buyer so the app reflects what they own.
Watch out
since the product list is required, a new product needs its own Zap, or it will sell without any automation behind it.
6

On Tag Added

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when a tag is added to a contact”

Reacts when a chosen tag lands on a contact in your app. Tags are how Learnistic groups people, so this is the trigger to follow a segment as it grows.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a contact tagged as a buyer should be mirrored in your CRM or mailing list.
Watch out
Apply Tag in another Zap adds tags too, so a Zap that applies the same tag it watches will loop.
7

On Tag Removed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggered when a tag is removed from a contact.”

The mirror image of On Tag Added: it fires when the tag you picked is taken off a contact.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a contact leaving a segment should leave the matching list in your other tools.
Watch out
App List and Tag List are required, so the Zap watches one tag in one app; a second tag means a second Zap.
Actions

Learnistic actions on Zapier

Learnistic gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Apply Tag

Action

In Zapier“This action will apply a tag to a contact in a particular vApp.”

Adds a tag to a contact in one of your Learnistic apps, from the app, the tag and the contact's email. A required Send app invite choice decides whether the person also gets an invitation to the app.

When to use it
grant a segment or a status after a purchase or a form handled elsewhere.
Watch out
set Send app invite deliberately, or contacts may receive invitations you did not plan.
2

Remove All Tags

Action

In Zapier“Removes all tags from user.”

Clears every tag from a user in one go, from the app and the email.

When to use it
resetting a contact completely, for instance before re-enrolling them in a fresh program.
Watch out
there is no way to keep some tags; if only one should go, use Remove Tag instead.
3

Remove Contact

Action

In Zapier“This action will remove a contact in a particular vApp.”

Removes a contact from a particular app, identified by the app and the email.

When to use it
a refund, a cancelled membership or a deletion request processed elsewhere should also take the person out of the app.
Watch out
this is the heaviest action of the five, so test it on a dummy contact before pointing it at real learners.
4

Remove Tag

Action

In Zapier“This action will remove a tag from a contact in a particular vApp.”

Takes one tag off a contact in a chosen app, identified by email.

When to use it
a subscription ends or a status expires in another tool, and the related tag should go.
Watch out
app, tag and email are all required, and removing a tag sets off On Tag Removed if a Zap watches it.
5

Update Contact Email

Action

In Zapier“Updates email for a Learnistic user in an app.”

Swaps a user's email for a new one in a given app. It needs the app, the current email and the new email.

When to use it
someone changes address in your CRM or billing tool and the app should follow, so they keep their access.
Watch out
the current email must match exactly what Learnistic holds, otherwise there is nobody to update.
When it breaks

When a Learnistic Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to Learnistic and lists no app-specific limit. What trips these Zaps are Zapier's general rules, plus the tag loop specific to this app.

  • Past events are not picked up

A Zap only reacts to events after you switch it on. Purchases and completions from before stay in Learnistic; moving that history is a separate job.
  • A tag Zap feeds itself

Apply Tag behind On Tag Added, on the same tag, sets the trigger off again and again and burns through your task count fast.
  • A bulk import is held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a mass tagging or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • The filter never passes

Filter rules are typed: a text rule works on text only, a number rule on numbers only. The wrong type stops the Zap every time.

FAQ

Learnistic Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the Learnistic Zapier integration free?
Yes, Learnistic is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps: one trigger and one action. Updating your CRM after each course completion fits. Updating the CRM and tagging the buyer in the same Zap does not, because two actions make a multi-step Zap, and those need a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Learnistic Zap use?
One task for each action that succeeds, nothing for the trigger. The purchase Zap that updates your CRM and then applies a tag uses two tasks per sale. An action that fails is not counted, so an Update Contact Email that finds no matching address costs nothing. The seven triggers themselves are free, however many purchases, logins or completions come through in a month. Count the actions in each Zap before choosing a plan.
03Do Learnistic triggers run in real time?
Yes. All seven Learnistic triggers are instant: your app tells Zapier as soon as a course or lesson is completed, a purchase is made, a cart is abandoned, a tag changes or a user logs in for the first time. The plan's check interval only applies to polling triggers, and Learnistic has none: here the app calls Zapier itself, so nothing waits for the next check. A lightning bolt in the editor confirms it.
04What does it take to connect Learnistic to Zapier?
A Learnistic account and a Zapier account. Add the connection from the Apps page with + Add connection, pick Learnistic, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. Then check what the account can see: every step asks you to pick an app from the App List, and the course, product or tag lists depend on that app too. Missing rights mean empty lists. Fix the rights first, then rebuild the step.
05Why does Apply Tag send app invites on Learnistic?
Because Apply Tag carries a required field called Send app invite. Whatever you choose there applies to every contact the Zap tags, so a careless choice can send invitations to people who already use the app, or skip them for people who need one. Decide what each tagging flow should do, set the field accordingly, and test with a dummy contact before you publish. Once the field is set, the invite behaviour stays the same for every run.
06What if the Learnistic operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Learnistic today. The editor offers seven triggers and five actions on tags and contacts, with no search. Creating a course, a product or a contact from another tool is not available. Keep that part manual in Learnistic, or rethink the Zap so that a tag does the work, since tags are the main lever the integration gives you. Check the list in the editor before you sketch the Zap.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Learnistic?
It depends on your criteria rather than on a winner. Zapier gives you seven instant triggers and five tag and contact actions that work from the free plan, in a guided editor. If your flows need many steps or conditions, compare how each tool prices multi-step workflows. Also check which Learnistic operations each tool actually exposes, since a missing one cannot be added from the editor. Start from the exact job, then compare.
