Overview

What the Listrak Zapier integration covers

The Listrak Zapier integration is a single entry point into Listrak. Listrak is a marketing platform that gathers customer data to personalise its messages; on Zapier it exposes one action, Add/Update Subscriber. Another app starts the Zap, and Listrak receives the person at the end.

Three results you can build around that one action. New sign-ups that land in Listrak on their own: each submission of your form becomes a subscriber through Add/Update Subscriber, so nobody exports and imports files by hand. Details that stay current: when someone already in Listrak sends new information through the same form, the action updates that subscriber instead of leaving the old version in place. One door for several sources: you can point Zaps from different tools at the same Listrak action, so every channel feeds the same audience.

What Zapier does not do for Listrak is just as important. There is no visible trigger, so a Zap cannot start because something happened in Listrak. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot check whether a person already exists before acting, or pull their details out for another tool. Data travels one way: into Listrak, never out of it.

Because the start comes from another app, that app also sets the timing. To compare platforms on criteria rather than slogans, the n8n vs Zapier comparison is a good place to begin.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Eight words come back on every Zapier page. Here they are once, in plain English, then used without a reminder.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. With Listrak it always sits in another app, since Listrak offers none here.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Add/Update Subscriber is one.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completed successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer; an instant one is reported by its app at once. Your starting app decides which.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Listrak account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step and every Zap that writes to Listrak.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and then it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Listrak Zap really costs

Listrak is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The trigger in your other app never costs a task, however many events it sees.

  • Trigger0 task
  • Each subscriber added or updated1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

Each time Add/Update Subscriber goes through, Zapier counts one task, whether it adds a person or updates one. When the action fails, nothing is counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps: one trigger and the Listrak action, nothing more. A filter in between makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan. The grid below shows how often a polling trigger is checked on each plan; it concerns the app that starts the Zap, never Listrak itself.

Connect

Connect Listrak to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Listrak account first, and write access to anything in it you do not own yourself.

  2. 02

    Find Listrak

Type Listrak in the search box of the dialog, pick it from the results, then click Add connection. Zapier opens a new tab, where the last part of the setup takes place.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Listrak in that tab and allow Zapier to use the account. The connection then shows up on your Apps page, and every Zap you build later can pick it again.

First Zap

Your first Listrak Zap: turn form sign-ups into subscribers

GoalEach new submission of your form becomes a Listrak subscriber, or updates the existing one, without any export or manual import.

  1. 01

Set the trigger in your form tool

Create a Zap and pick your form tool with its new-submission event. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so the mapping uses a real sign-up.

  2. 02

    Add a filter if needed

Optional: from the plus icon, add a Filter and set the field, the rule and the value. It makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan.

  3. 03

    Add the Listrak action

Choose Listrak and Add/Update Subscriber, then your Listrak connection. Map the answers of the form into the fields the action shows you.

  4. 04

    Test the step

Run the action once and read what came back from Listrak before going further. A test that works writes a real subscriber, so use your own details.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, each new sign-up reaches Listrak as soon as the form trigger picks it up.

Actions

Listrak actions on Zapier

Listrak gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add/Update Subscriber

Action

In Zapier“Add new subscribers and/or update current subscriber information.”

Puts a person into Listrak as a subscriber, or refreshes their details if they are already there. One step covers both cases, so a returning contact does not need a separate Zap.

When to use it
when sign-ups collected in another tool should reach your Listrak audience without an export.
Watch out
each successful run counts as one task, update or not.
When it breaks

When a Listrak Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Listrak and lists no limit specific to it. What breaks comes from the rules every Zap follows.

  • Older sign-ups never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. People who signed up before stay out of Listrak, and moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A bulk import is held back

When the starting app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the runs back instead of firing them all.
  • The filter asks for a paid plan

The free plan builds two-step Zaps only. Trigger, filter and Listrak action make three, so the editor asks for a paid plan before publishing.
  • The action cannot write

Add/Update Subscriber changes data in Listrak. If the connected account lacks write access to what the Zap touches, the step fails and no subscriber changes.

FAQ

Listrak Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Listrak Zapier integration free?
Yes, within the limits of the free plan. Listrak is not a premium app, so its action is available without paying Zapier. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: a trigger in another app and Add/Update Subscriber. Adding a filter, a second action or a search step makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. Your Listrak subscription itself is a separate matter on Listrak's side.
02How many tasks does a Listrak Zap use?
One task per subscriber added or updated. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and checking for new items is free however often it happens. Then each run of Add/Update Subscriber that goes through counts once. A run that fails is not counted against your plan. So a form that brings in a given number of sign-ups spends the same number of tasks, whether each person is new to Listrak or already known.
03Can Listrak start a Zap in real time?
No, Listrak has no visible trigger on Zapier, so it never starts a Zap. The start always comes from another app, and that app sets the timing. If its trigger is instant, the Zap runs as soon as the event happens, on any plan. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks it on a timer that depends on your plan, every 15 minutes on the free one. Listrak then acts at the end.
04What does connecting Listrak to Zapier require?
A Listrak account, and write access to the subscribers the Zap will touch. On Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Listrak and click Add connection. A tab opens where you sign in to Listrak and grant Zapier access. The connection is then saved and reused by every Zap. Since the only action writes into Listrak, an account that can only read will not be enough, and the step will fail on its first test.
05Does Add/Update Subscriber create duplicates?
The action is meant to cover both cases, adding a new subscriber or updating someone already in Listrak, so a returning contact does not need a second Zap. How Listrak recognises an existing subscriber is not spelled out on the Zapier app page, so test with a contact you already have before publishing. What the integration cannot do is look someone up first, since it has no search, so the Zap cannot read a subscriber's current details before writing. Each run counts as one task either way.
06What if the Listrak operation you need is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it with Listrak. The integration offers one visible operation, Add/Update Subscriber, with no trigger and no search. A Zap cannot react to something happening in Listrak, read a subscriber back or move data out of it. Anything beyond adding or updating subscribers stays a manual job in Listrak, or needs a different route than this integration. Before looking elsewhere, check whether adding or refreshing a subscriber already covers the job.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Listrak?
It depends on the criterion, not on a winner. On Zapier, Listrak offers one ready-made action that fits a simple flow: a sign-up somewhere, then a subscriber in Listrak. That works on the free plan as long as the Zap stays at two steps. If you also need to react to events in Listrak or read data back, Zapier offers nothing visible for that, so check first whether the other platform you are weighing supports Listrak at all.
