Overview

What the Listnr Zapier integration is for

The Listnr Zapier integration lets an automation hand text to Listnr and get speech made from it. Listnr is a text-to-speech service; on Zapier it brings two actions and nothing else. Something in another app has to start the Zap, and Listnr does the voice work at the end.

Three results worth building. Spoken versions of written lines: Convert Text to Audio takes the text of each new row in a spreadsheet and has it read in the voice you chose. An audio copy of a web page: Convert URL to Audio takes a page address and produces a listenable version of it. A consistent voice across everything: both actions ask for a Voice ID, so every Zap that uses the same one keeps the same voice.

Here is what Zapier does not do for Listnr. There is no trigger, so a Zap cannot start because Listnr finished something. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot look up audio that Listnr already produced. Listnr is always the last link of the chain you build in another app.

Because the trigger comes from another tool, its timing depends on that tool and on your plan. If you are still choosing a platform, the Make vs Zapier comparison is the next page to open. On Zapier itself, each successful Listnr conversion costs one task, whatever app started the Zap.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Eight words come back on every Zapier page. Here they are once, in plain English, then used without a reminder.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. For Listnr, the trigger always lives in another app, since Listnr has none.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or creates something. Both Listnr operations are actions.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completed successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer; an instant one is reported by its app straight away. Your trigger app decides which.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Listnr account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step and every Zap that calls Listnr.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and then it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Listnr Zap really costs

Listnr is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. The trigger, wherever it comes from, never costs a task.

  • Trigger0 task
  • Each successful conversion1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

Each Listnr conversion that succeeds counts as one task; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps, which is exactly one trigger plus one Listnr action. Adding a filter or a second conversion needs a paid plan. The grid below is how often a polling trigger is checked on each plan: it applies to the trigger app you put first, never to Listnr, which only ever acts.

Connect

Connect Listnr to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Start from your Apps page

In Zapier, open Apps and click + Add connection. You need a Listnr account first, plus access to anything you do not own yourself that the Zap should touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Listnr

Type Listnr in the dialog's search box, choose it from the results, then click Add connection. Zapier then opens a new tab where the last part of the setup happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to Listnr in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved on your Apps page, and every Zap you build afterwards can reuse it.

First Zap

Your first Listnr Zap: read each new spreadsheet line aloud

GoalEvery new row you add to a spreadsheet goes to Listnr, which turns the text of that row into audio with the voice you picked once.

  1. 01

Set the trigger in your spreadsheet

Create a Zap and pick your spreadsheet tool with its new-row event. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent rows, so you can work on a real one.

  2. 02

Keep only the rows you want

Optional: from the plus icon, add a Filter with a field, a rule and a value. It makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  3. 03

    Add the Listnr action

Choose Listnr and Convert Text to Audio, then your Listnr connection. Map the column that holds the text into Input Text, and pick a voice in Voice ID.

  4. 04

    Test the conversion

Run the step once and read what came back from Listnr before going further. If the step stops, check that Input Text and Voice ID both received a value.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, each new row reaches Listnr as soon as the spreadsheet trigger picks it up.

Actions

Listnr actions on Zapier

Listnr gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Convert Text to Audio

Action

In Zapier“Convert any provided text to audio using Listnr.”

Sends a block of text to Listnr and gets it spoken in the voice you choose. You map the text from an earlier step and pick the voice once.

When to use it
when short written content, like a line from a sheet, should also exist as audio.
Watch out
Input Text and Voice ID are both required, so an empty cell stops the step.
2

Convert URL to Audio

Action

In Zapier“Map or enter the web page URL that you'd like to convert to audio using listnr.”

Give Listnr the address of a web page and it produces an audio version of that page with the voice you set. Only the link travels, not the text itself.

When to use it
when the content already lives on a public page and copying it into the Zap would be pointless.
Watch out
the Site URL and Voice ID fields are mandatory.
When it breaks

When a Listnr Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Listnr and lists no limit specific to it. What goes wrong comes from the rules every Zap follows.

  • Earlier rows never get converted

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Rows or pages that existed before stay untouched, and converting that backlog is a separate job.
  • The step stops on an empty field

Input Text, Site URL and Voice ID are required. If the trigger sends an empty value, the Listnr step cannot run and no audio is made.
  • A bulk import gets held back

When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold the runs back instead of firing them all.
  • The filter asks for a paid plan

The free plan stops at two steps. Trigger, filter and Listnr action make three, so the editor asks you to upgrade before you can publish.

FAQ

Listnr Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Listnr Zapier integration free?
Yes, within the free plan's limits. Listnr is not a premium app, so both of its actions are available without paying Zapier. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap is limited to two steps: a trigger from another app and one Listnr action. Adding a filter, a second action or a search step makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. Your own Listnr account is a separate matter, handled on Listnr's side.
02How many tasks does a Listnr conversion use?
One task per conversion that succeeds. The trigger in the other app costs nothing, and checking for new items is free however often it happens. Then each Listnr action that completes counts once: a Zap that converts the text and also converts a link spends two tasks per run. A conversion that fails is not counted. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete, so the count can differ from one Zap to another.
03Can Listnr start a Zap in real time?
No, Listnr has no trigger at all, so it never starts a Zap. The Zap begins in another app, and that app decides the timing. If its trigger is instant, the Zap runs as soon as the event happens on any plan. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks it on a timer that depends on your plan, every 15 minutes on the free one. Listnr then runs at the end of the chain.
04What does connecting Listnr to Zapier require?
A Listnr account and a way to sign in to it. On Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Listnr and click Add connection. A tab opens where you log in to Listnr and grant Zapier access. The connection is then stored and every Zap can reuse it. When you build an action, you also pick a Voice ID from a dropdown, so the account you connect should be the one whose voices you want.
05Why does a Listnr step fail on some runs?
Most often because a required field arrived empty. Convert Text to Audio needs Input Text and a Voice ID; Convert URL to Audio needs a Site URL and a Voice ID. If the trigger sends a row with a blank cell or a record without a link, Listnr has nothing to work on and the step stops. A filter that checks the field is not empty prevents it, but it requires a paid plan.
06What if the Listnr operation you need is not there?
Then Zapier cannot do it for Listnr. The integration offers two actions, text to audio and web page to audio, with no trigger and no search. A Zap cannot react to something finished in Listnr or look up audio that already exists there. Anything beyond those two conversions stays a manual task in Listnr, or calls for a different route than this integration. Check the two actions first: between a raw text and a page address, most needs for spoken audio are covered.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Listnr?
It comes down to criteria, not a ranking. On Zapier, Listnr offers two ready-made actions that fit a simple chain: an event elsewhere, then a conversion. That works on the free plan as long as the Zap stays at two steps. If you need to react to Listnr itself, Zapier offers no trigger, so check first whether the other platform you are considering supports Listnr at all. Budget and the number of steps per run are the other things to weigh.
