Overview

What LianaMailer and Zapier do together

The LianaMailer integration on Zapier lets another app drive your mailing lists. Something happens elsewhere, Zapier picks it up, then it writes into LianaMailer (recipients, lists, unsubscribes) or reads from it (events, delivery reports, one recipient by email). LianaMailer itself never starts the automation.

Three outcomes worth naming. A sign-up that lands in the right list: Create or Update Recipient adds the person or refreshes their record, and can join them to a mailing list in the same step. A clean exit: Delete Recipient takes someone off your lists and puts a delivery ban on the address, so a removal decided in another tool sticks. A check before you write: Find a Recipent by Email tells the next steps whether the address is already known, including unsubscribed and bounced ones if you ask.

Now the limits. LianaMailer has no trigger on Zapier, so nothing that happens inside LianaMailer can start a Zap. The searches can read events and delivery reports, but only when some other trigger runs the Zap first. If you need to react the moment something happens in LianaMailer, Zapier will not do that part (compare with Make vs Zapier before you commit).

LianaMailer is not a premium app, so a simple two-step Zap runs on the free plan. Anything with a search in it, though, needs a paid one.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

The page leans on seven words. Here is what each one means in practice.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: an event that starts it, then one or more steps that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. LianaMailer offers none, so for this app the trigger always comes from another tool.
Action
The step that does the work once the Zap is running: here, adding a recipient, building a list or removing someone.
Task
What Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. Your plan's monthly allowance is counted in tasks only.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer that depends on your plan. An instant trigger is pushed by its app as soon as it happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data matches your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so later steps can use it. LianaMailer has three of them.
Cost

What a LianaMailer Zap costs

Zapier counts tasks, and in a LianaMailer Zap only the actions that go through count against your plan.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap sizeTwo steps: one trigger, one action
  • Premium appNo, LianaMailer works on the free plan
  • SearchesMake the Zap multi-step: paid plan

The trigger in the other app is free, and so is Zapier checking it for new data. Each action that goes through, such as one Create or Update Recipient, counts as one task; a failed one is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only: one trigger, one action. A search step or a filter turns the Zap into a multi-step Zap (anything beyond one trigger and one action), and that needs a paid plan. So the three LianaMailer searches are out of reach on Free.

Connect

Connect your LianaMailer account

  1. 01

    Go to Apps

Open Apps in your Zapier account. That is where your connection lives: your LianaMailer account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step. You need a LianaMailer account first.

  2. 02

    Add LianaMailer

Click + Add connection, type LianaMailer in the dialog, select it in the results, then click Add connection to confirm. A new browser tab opens so you can sign in to LianaMailer.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to LianaMailer in that tab and grant Zapier access. If the lists you want to touch belong to someone else, make sure your account has the rights to read and change them.

First Zap

Your first LianaMailer Zap

GoalEach new form response is checked against LianaMailer by email, then the person is added or updated as a recipient.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and choose your form tool as the starting app. LianaMailer cannot take that first slot, because it has no trigger on Zapier.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier pulls the three most recent responses from the connected account, so you map fields on real data rather than placeholders.

  3. 03

    Add the search

Add a step, pick LianaMailer and Find a Recipent by Email. Map the email from the response and decide whether unsubscribed and bounced addresses count. This makes the Zap multi-step.

  4. 04

    Add the action

Add Create or Update Recipient, map the fields, and pick the mailing list to join if you want one. Use what the search found to decide what goes where.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step and open LianaMailer to see the recipient appear. When it looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Actions

LianaMailer actions on Zapier

LianaMailer gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create or Update Mailinglist

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new mailinglist and optionally imports content to it.”

Sets up a new mailing list in LianaMailer and can fill it with content on the way. One step gives you a list ready to receive recipients.

When to use it
when a new segment decided in another tool deserves its own list instead of a manual setup.
2

Create or Update Recipient

Action

In Zapier“Creates or updates recipient and optionally joins it to a mailinglist.”

Adds a person to LianaMailer, or refreshes their record if they are already there, and can attach them to a mailing list at the same time.

When to use it
whenever a sign-up collected elsewhere should end up in LianaMailer, ready for your next send.
Watch out
joining a list is optional, so check that the list is set if you expect one.
3

Delete Recipient

Action

In Zapier“Unsubscribe recipient from lists and set delivery ban.”

Removes a recipient from their lists and places a delivery ban on the address. It is the strongest exit on offer, not a simple list change.

When to use it
when an opt-out recorded in another tool must stop every future mailing.
Watch out
run it on a test address first, since the ban goes further than leaving one list.
Searches

LianaMailer searches on Zapier

3 search steps look for data that already exists in LianaMailer, so a later step can use it.

A search reads LianaMailer without changing anything, then hands what it found to the steps after it. Each one makes the Zap multi-step. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not the one you expected.

1

Find Events

Search

In Zapier“Finds events from LianaMailer.”

Pulls the LianaMailer events that fall between two dates, so later steps can work with them. Both dates are mandatory, either as a full date with timezone or as a number of days ago.

When to use it
when a Zap started elsewhere needs to read what happened in LianaMailer over a period.
Watch out
event times are stored in Europe/Helsinki time.
2

Find Delivery Reports

Search

In Zapier“Finds delivery reports.”

Fetches delivery reports from LianaMailer for use in the following steps. One mandatory switch limits the search to automation deliveries.

When to use it
when you want sending results copied into another tool by a Zap that some other event starts.
Watch out
with that switch on, the other inputs are ignored.
3

Find a Recipent by Email

Search

In Zapier“Finds a recipient by email.”

Looks up a single recipient from their email address. You also choose whether unsubscribed and bounced recipients should show up in the results.

When to use it
just before Create or Update Recipient or Delete Recipient, to know whom you are dealing with.
Watch out
the name really is spelled Recipent in the editor.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left as is, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that relied on it. Switch it on and the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. LianaMailer offers no such variant on Zapier, so you will not see it on these three searches.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three choices: keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass every match along to the next steps.
When it breaks

When a LianaMailer Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to LianaMailer, so the known failure modes are the ones every Zap shares.

  • Past sign-ups are not picked up

A Zap reacts only to what happens after you switch it on. Recipients collected before that are not sent over; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A loop eats your tasks

If the Zap writes into the very place its own trigger watches, it fires itself again and again and burns through the monthly task count fast.
  • A big import gets held back

When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back before LianaMailer sees it.
  • Same item, one run

On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice. Repeats usually start at the source.

FAQ

LianaMailer Zapier integration: questions

01Is the LianaMailer Zapier integration free?
Partly. LianaMailer is not a premium app, so a two-step Zap that ends in one of its actions runs on the free plan, with 100 tasks a month. The catch is the searches. Adding Find Events, Find Delivery Reports or Find a Recipent by Email makes the Zap multi-step, and multi-step Zaps need a paid plan. The same goes for a filter or a second action. So adding new sign-ups is free; checking before you add them is not.
02How many tasks does a LianaMailer Zap use?
One task per action that completes successfully. Adding a recipient, creating a mailing list or deleting a recipient each count as one when they work, and a failed attempt is not billed. The trigger in the other app never costs a task, and neither does Zapier checking it for new data. In a Zap with two actions, both are counted, so the bill grows with the number of steps that write something. Keep an eye on the 100-task ceiling on Free.
03Does the LianaMailer integration run in real time?
That depends on the app you start the Zap with, because LianaMailer has no trigger on Zapier. If the starting app offers an instant trigger, LianaMailer is updated as soon as the event happens, whatever your plan. With a polling trigger, Zapier checks on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, every 2 minutes on Professional, every minute on Team and Enterprise. Instant triggers carry a lightning bolt in the editor, which is the quickest way to tell them apart.
04What does it take to connect LianaMailer to Zapier?
A LianaMailer account, plus read or write rights on any list you do not own yourself but want the Zap to touch. You connect once from the Apps page with + Add connection, sign in to LianaMailer in the tab that opens, and allow Zapier access. Every later Zap reuses that connection. Before building, check that the account can see the mailing lists you plan to fill, since the Zap acts with exactly the rights of that account.
05Why does Find Events return nothing?
Most of the time, the dates. Find Events requires both a From date and a To date, written either as a full date with its timezone or as a plain number of days ago. LianaMailer stores event times in Europe/Helsinki time, so a date sent without a timezone can push the window off target. The field help suggests Zapier's Date/Time Formatter to produce a clean date before the search runs.
06What if the LianaMailer operation you need is not there?
Then the connector does not offer it today. On Zapier, LianaMailer exposes three actions and three searches and no trigger, so anything that should start from inside LianaMailer cannot be built here. A workable route is to let another app hold the event and use the LianaMailer steps only to write or read. The app page on Zapier lists every available operation, which is the place to check before planning around one.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for LianaMailer?
Judge it on criteria, not on a ranking. Zapier fits if what you need is to push recipients and lists into LianaMailer from other tools, and you accept that searches move you to a paid plan. For any alternative, check whether it can do what Zapier cannot here: start a flow from a LianaMailer event. Then weigh monthly volume, who will maintain the flows, and how much of the work needs multi-step logic.
