Overview

What the LiveConnect Zapier integration does for your conversations

The LiveConnect Zapier integration plugs LiveConnect, a chat platform that gathers your customer channels in one place, into your other tools through Zapier, a service that chains automations without code. It starts Zaps on conversations, contacts and survey answers, opens conversations, and looks up what your account holds.

Three results come up most. Feedback that does not sit unread: Survey Response passes every answered satisfaction survey on, to a spreadsheet or to a follow-up. A contact list that stays in step with your other tools: Contact Updated fires when a contact is created or changed, and Contact Deleted when one is removed. Conversations tracked from start to finish: Incoming Conversation, Conversation Taken by User and Conversation Ended mark each stage, and Create a Conversation opens one on a channel you choose, assigned to a user.

What Zapier does not do here matters too. There is a single action: a Zap cannot edit a contact, send a reply into an existing conversation or close one. The 7 search steps only read; they never change anything in LiveConnect. So LiveConnect is mostly a starting point here, and the work you want done lands in your other tools.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words you will meet in the editor, in plain English, so the rest of the page reads without a manual.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap, like a satisfaction survey answered in LiveConnect. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes or sends something for you, like opening a LiveConnect conversation.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan counts exactly those.
Instant vs polling
Instant: the app calls Zapier as the event happens. Polling: Zapier asks the app for news on a timer. All LiveConnect triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found.
WABA channel
In LiveConnect, the channel that manages a WhatsApp Business line, the one the template search reads from.
Cost

What LiveConnect on Zapier really costs

A LiveConnect trigger never costs a task. Only an action that succeeds is billed, one task each; an action that fails is not counted.

  • Premium appNo, works on Free
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, 2-step Zaps
  • LiveConnect triggers6, all instant, 0 tasks
  • Any search stepMakes the Zap multi-step

LiveConnect is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap. One trigger plus Create a Conversation fits. Add one of the 7 searches, a filter or a second action, and you have a multi-step Zap (anything beyond one trigger and one action), which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers only; it does not apply to the six LiveConnect triggers, which are all instant.

Connect

Connect LiveConnect to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a LiveConnect account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick LiveConnect

Type LiveConnect in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the LiveConnect side, where you sign in with your usual account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to LiveConnect in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. Every LiveConnect step you add to a Zap can then reuse this connection without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: keep every survey answer you care about

GoalEach satisfaction survey answered in LiveConnect that meets your condition becomes a row in your spreadsheet.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap in Zapier. You build it in order: the app and event that start it, then the steps that follow, then the fields you map between them.

  2. 02

    Set the trigger

Choose LiveConnect and Survey Response, then select your connection. The editor shows a lightning bolt, since this trigger is instant.

  3. 03

    Test on a real answer

Test the trigger. Zapier brings back the three most recent survey answers of the account, so you pick a real one and map from what it actually holds.

  4. 04

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon and add a Filter: the field to look at, the rule, the value to compare with. Match the rule type to the field, text or number, or it never passes.

  5. 05

    Add the row

Add your spreadsheet app with its row-creation action, map the answer into the columns, then run the step once and read what came back.

  6. 06

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. With a filter it is multi-step and needs a paid plan, and it only keeps answers that arrive from now on.

Triggers

LiveConnect triggers on Zapier

6 events start a Zap when something happens in LiveConnect, and 6 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Incoming Conversation

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a conversation is created from an incoming message.”

Fires when a customer writes in and LiveConnect creates a conversation from that incoming message. The new conversation then feeds the steps after it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
when every new inbound conversation should leave a trace elsewhere, such as a line in a tracking sheet or a note for a colleague.
Watch out
it only covers conversations born from an incoming message; one you open yourself with Create a Conversation does not set it off.
2

Conversation Ended

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a conversation ends.”

Starts your Zap as soon as a conversation is over, with that conversation available to every step after it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
to log finished conversations outside LiveConnect, or to start whatever comes after a chat, like a follow-up in another tool.
Watch out
conversations that ended before the Zap was published are not sent, so a history has to be moved by other means.
3

Conversation Taken by User

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a conversation is taken by a user.”

Goes off when one of your users takes a conversation, which is the moment someone becomes responsible for it.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
to keep track of who handles what, for instance by noting the user and the conversation in a shared sheet.
Watch out
this is a user taking the conversation, not the customer's first message, which belongs to Incoming Conversation.
4

Contact Deleted

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a contact is eliminated.”

Reacts when a contact is removed from LiveConnect, so the other tools can hear about it too.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
when a copy of your contacts lives in another tool and a deletion in LiveConnect should be reflected there.
Watch out
the contact is already gone from LiveConnect when the Zap runs, so build the next steps on what the trigger hands over.
5

Contact Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a contact is updated/created.”

Fires on two events at once: a contact created in LiveConnect, or an existing one changed.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
to keep another contact list in step with LiveConnect without exporting anything by hand.
Watch out
creation and update arrive through the same trigger. If only new contacts matter, a filter has to sort them out, and that filter makes the Zap multi-step.
6

Survey Response

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a satisfaction survey has been answered.”

Starts a Zap each time a customer answers a satisfaction survey in LiveConnect, with the answer ready for the next steps.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
to gather answers in one place for review, or to open a follow-up conversation after a reply that calls for one.
Watch out
every answer runs the Zap; to act only on some of them, add a filter whose rule type matches the field you compare.
Actions

LiveConnect action on Zapier

LiveConnect gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create a Conversation

Action

In Zapier“Allows initiating a conversation through a defined channel.”

Opens a new conversation through a channel you choose, assigned straight away to one of your users.

When to use it
when an event in LiveConnect or in another tool should lead to your team reaching out to a contact, rather than waiting for them to write.
Watch out
User to Assign and Outgoing Channel are required, and the channel must be valid for starting conversations, or the step fails.
Searches

LiveConnect searches on Zapier

7 search steps look for data that already exists in LiveConnect, so a later step can use it.

A search step reads something that already exists so later steps can use it. In the editor, the searches of an app sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Several LiveConnect searches fetch whole lists, so the third setting below matters here.

1

Get Channels

Search

In Zapier“Allows fetching all channels configured in the platform.”

Fetches all the channels set up in your LiveConnect platform.

When to use it
before Create a Conversation, to see which channels exist and pick the one the conversation should go out on.
Watch out
it returns every channel, and by default only the first goes on, so set the multiple-results option to what you need.
2

Get Contacts

Search

In Zapier“Allows fetching all contacts configured in the platform.”

Pulls the full list of contacts held in your LiveConnect platform.

When to use it
when a later step needs the whole contact list rather than one person, for an export into another tool for instance.
Watch out
by default a search keeps only the first match, so hand all of them on if the next step expects the list.
3

Query Contact

Search

In Zapier“Allows querying the data of a contact in the account.”

Reads the details of one contact in your account and passes them along.

When to use it
after a conversation trigger, when the next step needs more about the person than the trigger carried.
Watch out
if the contact cannot be found, the search stops the Zap by default, unless you switch on the no-results setting.
4

Get Teams

Search

In Zapier“Allows fetching all agent teams configured in the platform.”

Lists all the agent teams configured in LiveConnect.

When to use it
when a Zap needs to know how your agents are organised, to route information to the right team in another tool.
Watch out
like the other list searches, it passes only the first team on unless you change the multiple-results setting.
5

Get Users

Search

In Zapier“Allows fetching all users configured in the platform, 30 at a time.”

Brings back the users configured in your platform, 30 at a time.

When to use it
to find the user a conversation should be assigned to before Create a Conversation.
Watch out
its description says it reads users in batches of 30, so test it on your own account to see what actually reaches the next step.
6

Query User

Search

In Zapier“Allows querying the data of a user in the account.”

Given a numeric user ID, returns that user's details from your LiveConnect account.

When to use it
after Conversation Taken by User, to get more about the person who took the conversation.
Watch out
User ID is required and must be the numeric ID, not a name or an email address.
7

Get Templates From a WABA Channel

Search

In Zapier“Allows obtaining the data of the templates from a WABA channel.”

Retrieves the message templates of a WABA channel, the channel that runs a WhatsApp Business line.

When to use it
when a Zap needs to know which WhatsApp templates are available on a given line.
Watch out
the editor marks Channel as required while its help text says optional; plan to fill it with the WABA channel you want to read.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that depended on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. None of the LiveConnect searches has a find-or-create variant on Zapier, so it does not come into play here.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When the LiveConnect integration breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to LiveConnect, and no rate limit specific to the app is published. What breaks is general Zapier behavior, plus the way some of these searches return lists.

Four cases cover most surprises. If one of them stops a Zap and the cause is not obvious, see Zapier troubleshooting.

  • Nothing from before the Zap

A Zap only reacts to conversations, contacts and answers that come after you publish it. Earlier ones are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that feeds itself

If a Zap writes into the very place its own trigger watches, it sets itself off again and again and burns through the task count fast.
  • Flood protection on big batches

After a bulk import of contacts or a migration, Contact Updated may report a huge batch at once, and Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • A search that stops the Zap

With default settings, a LiveConnect search that finds nothing stops the Zap, and the steps after it are skipped. Check the setting on every search you add.

FAQ

LiveConnect Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the LiveConnect Zapier integration free?
Yes, for two-step Zaps. LiveConnect is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan, with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. A Zap made of Survey Response and Create a Conversation fits that plan. Add a filter to follow up only on some answers, or any of the 7 searches, and the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. Your LiveConnect subscription is a separate question that Zapier pricing does not cover.
02How many tasks does a LiveConnect Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. An action that fails is not counted. A Zap that opens a follow-up conversation after every survey answer uses one task per answer, so 100 tasks cover 100 follow-ups on the free plan. Busy triggers such as Incoming Conversation or Contact Updated can run often, and those are the ones to watch when your count drops quickly. A filter in front of the action keeps the useless runs out, but it needs a paid plan.
03Does LiveConnect trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. All six LiveConnect triggers are instant: LiveConnect tells Zapier the moment the event happens, and the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The polling interval grid of the plans, 15 minutes on Free, does not apply to them. A Zap built on one of them shows a lightning bolt in the editor. That type is decided on the LiveConnect side, so there is nothing to switch on in the editor.
04What does it take to connect LiveConnect to Zapier?
A LiveConnect account you can sign in to, plus read or write access on anything you do not own and want the Zap to touch. The connection starts from the Apps page of your Zapier account with + Add connection: you pick LiveConnect, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. If you plan to use Create a Conversation, also check that a user exists to assign it to and that a channel can start conversations.
05Why does Create a Conversation fail in LiveConnect?
Most often because of the channel. The action requires an Outgoing Channel, and that channel must be valid for starting conversations. The second required field, User to Assign, must point to an existing user. Get Channels and Get Users help you find valid values before the action runs, though adding them makes the Zap multi-step. A failed run costs no task, but the conversation is not opened either, so test the step before publishing.
06What if the LiveConnect operation you need does not exist?
Then it stays out of reach on Zapier, whatever you set. The balance tells you why: 6 triggers and 7 searches to listen and read, against a single action that writes. Opening a conversation is covered; editing a contact, replying inside a live conversation or closing it is not. If the missing piece is a write, check whether Make or n8n list LiveConnect with that operation. If it is only a read, one of the 7 searches may already hold the data you need.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for LiveConnect?
Weigh it on three criteria rather than crowning a tool. Speed: all 6 triggers here are instant on every Zapier plan, so nothing waits for a check. Budget: a survey-to-conversation Zap stays free, but one search or filter turns it into a paid, multi-step Zap, so price the same chain on Make and n8n. Coverage: before you switch, confirm that the other tool lists LiveConnect at all and offers the write operations that Zapier lacks.
