Overview

What the LiveSession Zapier integration does for your product team

The LiveSession Zapier integration lets a new session event, recorded by LiveSession on one of your websites, set off work in your other tools through Zapier, a service that links apps so one event starts steps elsewhere. LiveSession reports the event to Zapier itself, and the steps you add after it decide what happens next.

One trigger, three typical results. A running log: Session Event hands each new event to a spreadsheet step, so the history of what LiveSession records also lives in a sheet anyone can sort. A heads-up for the people who read the analytics: the same event can post a note in your team chat, so nobody has to keep the dashboard open. A narrow handoff: put a filter after the trigger, keep only the events that match your condition, and pass those to one other tool.

What Zapier does not do here matters just as much. LiveSession has no action and no search step on Zapier, so a Zap cannot create, change or look up anything inside LiveSession. It is always the first step, never a later one. And each Zap watches one website, the one you pick in the required Website field.

The timing is the good part: the trigger is instant, so even a free plan gets the event as soon as LiveSession sends it. Before you pick a tool for this, the n8n vs Zapier comparison and the Zapier review lay out the criteria that count.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words you will meet in the editor, in plain English, so the rest of the page reads without a manual.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap, such as a new session event in LiveSession. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, always in another app here.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan counts exactly those.
Instant vs polling
Instant: the app calls Zapier as the event happens. Polling: Zapier asks the app for news on a timer. LiveSession's trigger is instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app so later steps can use it. LiveSession offers none on Zapier.
Connection
Your LiveSession account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that starts from LiveSession.
Cost

What LiveSession on Zapier really costs

The LiveSession trigger never costs a task, however many events it receives. You pay only for the actions that follow in other apps, one task per action that succeeds; an action that fails is not counted.

  • Premium appNo, works on Free
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, 2-step Zaps
  • LiveSession trigger0 tasks, instant
  • BilledEach successful action

LiveSession is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap. Session Event plus one action fits. A filter or a second action turns it into a multi-step Zap (anything beyond one trigger and one action), which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is the one Zapier applies to polling triggers; it does not apply to Session Event, which is instant.

Connect

Connect LiveSession to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a LiveSession account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick LiveSession

Type LiveSession in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the LiveSession side, where you sign in with your usual account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to LiveSession in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. Every Zap that starts from LiveSession then reuses this connection without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: log the session events that matter

GoalEach new LiveSession event on your website that meets your condition becomes a row in your spreadsheet, so the record builds itself.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap in Zapier. You build it in order: the app and event that start it, then the app and action that follow, then the fields you map between them.

  2. 02

    Set the trigger

Choose LiveSession and the Session Event event, select your connection, then pick the website in the Website field. The editor shows a lightning bolt: this trigger is instant.

  3. 03

    Test on a real event

Test the trigger. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account, so you pick a real event and map from what it actually carries.

  4. 04

    Add a filter

Click the plus icon and add a Filter. Set the field to look at, the rule and the value to compare with. The filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Add the spreadsheet step

Add your spreadsheet app with its row-creation action. Map the event details you want to keep into the columns, run the step once and read what came back.

  6. 06

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. It logs the events recorded from now on. Events from before you published are not added, and moving them over is a separate job.

Triggers

LiveSession triggers on Zapier

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in LiveSession, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Session Event

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new session event is created.”

Starts your Zap each time LiveSession records a new session event on the website you picked, and hands that event to every step that follows.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
when something your product analytics captures should leave a trace or reach someone in another tool, such as a row in a shared sheet.
Watch out
the Website field is required, so the connected account must reach at least one website in LiveSession before the trigger can be set; a busy site also starts the Zap often, and every action after it costs a task.
When it breaks

When the LiveSession integration breaks

Zapier attaches no help article and no published limit to LiveSession. What breaks is general Zapier behavior, and an instant trigger does not change it.

For a Zap that stops without an obvious cause, start with Zapier troubleshooting. These four cases come first on a LiveSession Zap.

  • Nothing from before the Zap

A Zap only reacts to session events recorded after you publish it. Older ones are not picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • Flood protection on a big wave

If LiveSession suddenly reports a huge batch of events, after a bulk import or a migration for instance, Zapier's flood protection can hold the Zap back.
  • The two-step ceiling

On the free plan a Zap stops at one trigger and one action. A filter on the events or a second action makes it multi-step, and it then needs a paid plan.
  • Nothing to test with

A trigger test pulls the three most recent items of the account. On a website with no session event recorded yet, there is nothing real to map from.

FAQ

LiveSession Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the LiveSession Zapier integration free?
Yes, as long as the Zap has two steps. LiveSession is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan, with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. A Zap made of the Session Event trigger and one action in another app fits that plan exactly. As soon as you add a filter to keep only some events, or a second action, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan. The trigger itself never counts against the plan, so the free tier is a fair place to test the idea before deciding.
02How many tasks does a LiveSession Zap use?
One per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. Session Event is free however many events it receives, and an action that fails is not counted either. A Zap that turns each event into one spreadsheet row uses one task per event, so 100 tasks cover 100 events on the free plan. Every new session event starts the Zap, which means a busy website can eat through the monthly count fast. On a paid plan, a filter placed before the action keeps only the events worth paying for.
03Does LiveSession trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. Session Event is an instant trigger: LiveSession tells Zapier the moment the event happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan. The polling interval grid of the plans, 15 minutes on Free, does not apply to it. In the editor, a Zap built on it shows a lightning bolt. That type is decided on the LiveSession side, so there is nothing to switch on or tune in the editor, and upgrading the plan does not make this trigger any faster.
04What does it take to connect LiveSession to Zapier?
A LiveSession account you can sign in to, plus read or write access on anything you do not own and want the Zap to touch. The connection starts from the Apps page of your Zapier account with + Add connection: you pick LiveSession, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. Then the trigger asks for a website in its required Website field. Before the first test, make sure that website has recorded at least one event, since the test brings back the three most recent items.
05Why does the Session Event trigger ask for a website?
Because the Website field is required: each Zap follows the session events of the one website you select there. Without it, the trigger cannot be saved and the Zap does not start. The list you choose from depends on the LiveSession account behind your connection, so the first thing to check is that you connected the account that holds the right website. If the site belongs to someone else, that account needs read or write access to it before it can serve as the source of a Zap.
06What if the LiveSession operation you need does not exist?
The short answer: on Zapier, LiveSession is one trigger and nothing else, so anything beyond hearing about a new session event is out of reach, whatever you set. That rules out writing into LiveSession, looking something up there, or following two websites from a single Zap. What you can still do is let Session Event start the flow and push the real work into a spreadsheet, a task tool or your team chat. If the missing piece has to happen inside LiveSession, check the same app on Make or n8n.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for LiveSession?
Look at volume before anything else. Session Event fires on every new session event, so on a busy website the number of actions after it drives the bill on Zapier, one task each. If a single action per event is enough, Zapier is the quickest start and the trigger is instant on every plan. If you want to sort events with a filter or log them in two places, that Zap needs a paid plan, so price the same flow on Make and n8n by their own billing rules before you settle.
