Lookify Zapier integrationAutomate Lookify with Zapier.

The Lookify Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 0 actions and 3 searches. Each search takes one phone number and hands back data about it: the carrier, a profile, or a threat score. Lookify never starts a Zap on its own, so another app always goes first.

Overview

What the Lookify Zapier integration actually does

The integration lets a Zap ask Lookify about a phone number it already holds. Lookify is a data enrichment platform: you send it a number you have, it sends back more detail about that number. Inside Zapier that only happens as a search step, a lookup in the middle of a Zap, never as the event that starts one.

Three results come out of it. A carrier line: with Find Carrier, a number picked up by an earlier step gets its carrier data attached, and the next step writes it wherever you keep your contacts. A profile next to the number: Find Profile returns the profile data Lookify holds for that number, so a record that only had digits gets something a person can read. A risk signal: Find Threat Score returns a threat score, which a later filter can use to let the Zap continue or stop it.

What Zapier does not do here matters as much. Lookify has no trigger, so no Zap can start because something happened inside Lookify. It has no action either: nothing gets written, sent or deleted in Lookify through Zapier. Every Lookify Zap therefore begins in another app, and because a search makes a Zap multi-step, it needs a paid Zapier plan even though Lookify itself is not a premium app.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on every line below. Here they are in plain language.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more steps that run each time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Lookify has none, so another app plays this role.
Action
The step that writes, sends or moves something for you once the Zap has started. Lookify offers no action, only lookups.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan counts those, nothing else.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the data meets your condition, and stops it there otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can use what was found. All of Lookify works this way.
Cost

What a Lookify Zap really costs

Zapier bills tasks, and a task is an action that worked. The trigger costs nothing, and so does every check Zapier makes for new data.

  • Lookify premium appNo, but its searches make a Zap multi-step
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • Trigger and checksNever billed
  • Failed actionNot billed

Each action that succeeds counts on its own: a Zap with three actions uses three times the tasks of a one-action Zap. An action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but only two steps per Zap, one trigger and one action. A search step, like a filter, makes the Zap multi-step, so any Zap using Lookify needs a paid plan. The grid below sets how often Zapier checks a polling trigger. Lookify has no trigger of its own, so it applies to the app that starts your Zap, and only when that trigger is a polling one.

Connect

Connect Lookify to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your Lookify account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that calls Lookify.

  2. 02

    Find Lookify in the dialog

Type Lookify in the search box of the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. This step expects a Lookify account that already exists, ready to sign in to.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

A new tab opens on Lookify. Sign in there, then grant Zapier access to the account. Back in the editor, the connection shows up in the account list of each Lookify step.

First Zap

Your first Lookify Zap

GoalWhen a new entry lands in your form tool, check the phone number's threat score with Lookify, and only add the entry to your spreadsheet when the score passes your filter.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap and choose the app that receives your phone numbers, then its event. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent items so you map fields on a real one.

  2. 02

    Add the Lookify search

Click the plus icon, pick Lookify, then Find Threat Score under the SEARCH heading of the Action event list. Map the phone number from step one into Phone Number.

  3. 03

    Set the filter

Add a Filter step. In its three boxes, choose the threat score field, a number rule, and the value to compare with. Pick a number rule: a text rule on a number never passes.

  4. 04

Add the final action and test

Add your spreadsheet action and map the entry fields plus what Lookify returned. Test each step once and read what came back before going further.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. From then on, only new entries go through it; numbers you collected earlier stay where they are.

Searches

The three Lookify searches

3 search steps look for data that already exists in Lookify, so a later step can use it.

Every Lookify operation is a search step. You find them at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the lookup comes back empty or crowded.

1

Find Carrier

Search

In Zapier“Find the carrier data for a phone number”

Give it a phone number and it returns the carrier data Lookify has for it, ready to map into the next step.

When to use it
your contact records hold numbers but say nothing about the line behind them, and you want that written next to each new number.
Watch out
Phone Number is mandatory, so map it from a step that always carries one.
2

Find Profile

Search

In Zapier“Find the profile data for a phone number”

This one turns a bare number into profile data from Lookify, which later steps can copy into a record.

When to use it
a new contact arrives with digits only, and you want more context on it before anyone opens the record.
Watch out
when no profile comes back, the default setting halts the Zap; switch the empty-result setting on if the rest should still run.
3

Find Threat Score

Search

In Zapier“Find the threat score data for a phone number”

Lookify answers with a threat score for the number you send, a value a filter placed after it can read.

When to use it
you want risky numbers kept out of a list, with a filter on the score deciding whether the Zap goes on.
Watch out
the filter that reads the score makes the Zap longer, and the search alone already needs a paid plan.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that depended on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on without the data.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. Lookify offers no find-or-create variant, so you will not see it on these three searches.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When a Lookify Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Lookify, and no limit specific to the app is documented. What breaks comes from the general rules of Zapier.

Four cases cover most stuck Zaps. If one of them does not match what you see, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.

  • Old numbers are never looked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Numbers collected earlier are not picked up; enriching that backlog is a separate job.
  • The Zap loops on itself

If the final step writes into the very place your trigger watches, each new row starts the Zap again and burns through your tasks fast.
  • A bulk import stalls

When your trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • The same entry does not run twice

On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so one item never starts the Zap a second time.

FAQ

Lookify Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Lookify Zapier integration free?
Not in practice. Lookify is not a premium app, so the free plan accepts it, but every Lookify operation is a search step. A search turns a Zap into a multi-step Zap, and the free plan only builds two-step Zaps: one trigger and one action. Since Lookify cannot be the trigger and has no action, a working Lookify Zap needs at least a trigger from another app, the search, and a step that uses the result. That calls for a paid plan or the free trial.
02How many tasks does a Lookify lookup use?
Zapier counts a task each time an action of your Zap succeeds. The trigger from your other app is never billed, and neither are the checks Zapier makes to look for new data. Each successful action is counted separately, so a Zap with three actions uses three times what a one-action Zap uses. An action that does not go through is not counted. Note that a few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete, so check the step you add after the search.
03Does Lookify work in real time with Zapier?
Lookify has no trigger, so its own timing never decides when the Zap runs. The trigger of the app that sends the phone number does. If that trigger is instant, the app reports the event to Zapier as soon as it happens and the plan grid does not apply. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks at a fixed interval: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. The Lookify search runs as the next step of that same run.
04What does it take to connect Lookify to Zapier?
A Lookify account you can sign in to. Then go to the Apps page of your Zapier account, click + Add connection, search for Lookify, click Add connection, sign in to Lookify in the tab that opens, and grant Zapier access. You also need read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection is then reused by every Lookify step you add.
05Why does a Lookify search step stay incomplete?
Usually because Phone Number is empty. All three searches, Find Carrier, Find Profile and Find Threat Score, require it, and the value has to come from an earlier step. If your trigger app does not carry a phone number, there is nothing to map. Test the trigger first: Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so you can check that a real phone number is there before you set up the search. Then map that field into Phone Number.
06What if the Lookify operation you need does not exist in Zapier?
The integration only offers the three searches: carrier, profile and threat score, each for a phone number. Nothing writes into Lookify and nothing starts a Zap from Lookify. If the step you have in mind is not one of those three, Zapier cannot do it with this app today. The usual options are to check whether the app that holds the number can do the job itself, or to look at another automation platform that reaches Lookify differently.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Lookify?
Compare them on the criteria that matter for this case. On Zapier, Lookify gives three ready searches, and each Lookify Zap is multi-step, which means a paid plan. On another platform, check whether Lookify is available at all, which lookups it exposes, and how that platform counts the steps that run. The right answer depends on your volume, on who maintains the Zap, and on which other apps sit around Lookify in your process.
