Overview

What the Makezu Beta Zapier integration does for you

The Makezu Beta Zapier integration links your Makezu account to Zapier so that what Makezu finds or creates starts automations in other apps, and other apps can write back into Makezu. All three triggers are checked on a timer. It is not a premium app, so the free plan is enough to begin.

Prospects in your CRM. Get Twitter User passes each new Twitter user Makezu finds to the next step, so a profile worth following up lands in your CRM without copy and paste.

A log of every campaign. Get Campaign fires when a campaign is created, which is enough to keep a running list in a shared sheet or to tell the team.

Message templates from elsewhere. Create a Template builds a template in Makezu from text written in another tool, with the template type you pick.

What Zapier does not do here: there is no search for Makezu. Modify an Automation and Modify a Campaign need the item's ID, and no search can look it up, so an earlier step of the same Zap has to supply it. There is no action to create a campaign or an automation, only to change existing ones. And every trigger polls, so nothing reaches Zapier instantly.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in one minute

Seven terms come back on this page. Each one, once, in plain words.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, here a new user, campaign or automation.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or changes something for you, such as a new template.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. All three Makezu triggers poll.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What it really costs

Watching Makezu is free. Zapier bills what the Zap does afterwards.

  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Trigger costNothing, only successful actions count

The trigger never costs a task, however often Zapier checks. Each action that succeeds counts as one task; one that fails does not. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps, so a new Twitter user sent to your CRM fits. Add a filter and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below is how often each plan checks a polling trigger, and all three Makezu triggers poll.

Connect

Connect Makezu Beta to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. You need a Makezu account first; Zapier links an existing one, it does not create it.

  2. 02

    Pick Makezu Beta

Type Makezu Beta in the search box of the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Makezu side so you can sign in with your usual login.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Makezu in that tab and allow Zapier to reach the account. Use a login that can see and change the campaigns and automations your Zaps will touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: send new Twitter prospects to your CRM

GoalWhen Makezu finds a new Twitter user, create a contact in your CRM, only for users that meet your condition.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap, pick Makezu Beta as the app that starts it and Get Twitter User as the event, then choose the connection you added.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent users from your account, so you map the next steps on a real profile instead of a guess.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Add a filter from the plus icon and fill its three boxes: the field, the rule, the value. Use a text rule for text and a number rule for numbers, or it never passes.

  4. 04

    Add your CRM

Add your CRM as the action and map the user's details into the contact fields. Test the step once and check the contact it created.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. With the filter this is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan, and new users arrive at your plan's interval.

Triggers

Makezu Beta triggers

3 events start a Zap when something happens in Makezu Beta. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

Get Welcome Followers Automation

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new Welcome Followers automation is created.”

Starts your Zap when a new Welcome Followers automation is created in Makezu, and passes its details on to the next steps.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
you want the team told, or a record kept, each time someone sets up a new welcome automation.
Watch out
it reacts to new automations only, not to changes made to existing ones.
2

Get Campaign

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new campaign is created.”

Fires each time a campaign is created in Makezu, which gives other tools a clear signal that a new push has started.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
campaigns should be listed somewhere the whole team reads, without anyone keeping that list by hand.
Watch out
Modify a Campaign requires the campaign ID, so check during the test that this trigger brings it back.
3

Get Twitter User

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new Twitter user is found.”

Hands every new Twitter user Makezu finds to the next step, turning Makezu's prospecting into a stream other tools can work with.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
promising profiles should reach your CRM or your outreach list without an export.
Watch out
users Makezu found before the Zap was switched on are not sent; only new finds come through.
Actions

Makezu Beta actions

Makezu Beta gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create a Template

Action

In Zapier“Creates Template.”

Adds a new template to Makezu from text that comes from another step, so messages drafted elsewhere become reusable in Makezu.

When to use it
your team writes message drafts in a doc or a sheet and wants them available in Makezu.
Watch out
body and TemplateType are both required, so the earlier step must provide the text and you must pick the type.
2

Modify an Automation

Action

In Zapier“Modifies a Welcome Followers automation”

Changes an existing Welcome Followers automation in Makezu from inside a Zap, instead of opening it by hand.

When to use it
a decision taken in another tool should be reflected on a welcome automation that already exists.
Watch out
Automation_id is required and no Makezu search can find it, so an earlier step has to pass it along.
3

Modify a Campaign

Action

In Zapier“Modifies a Campaign”

Updates a campaign that already exists in Makezu, driven by what happens in another step of the Zap.

When to use it
a campaign should be adjusted when something changes elsewhere, without someone logging in to do it.
Watch out
the campaign ID is required; Get Campaign earlier in the Zap is one possible source, so check its test output.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier links no help article and no app-specific limit to Makezu Beta. What can go wrong comes from how Zapier itself works.

Four cases to know before you publish. When a run fails anyway, our Zapier troubleshooting guide is where to start.

  • Earlier finds are never picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Users, campaigns and automations that already existed are left alone; moving them is a separate job.
  • A sudden batch can be held back

If a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • The same item will not fire twice

On a polling trigger Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so a user or a campaign it has passed on once does not start the Zap again.
  • A filter needs a paid plan

The free plan builds two-step Zaps only. A filter after a Makezu trigger makes the Zap multi-step, and it stops fitting the free plan.

FAQ

Makezu Beta Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Makezu Beta Zapier integration free?
Yes. Makezu Beta is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works on the free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action, which covers a simple flow such as sending each new Twitter user Makezu finds to your CRM. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. You also need your own Makezu account, since Zapier only links an existing one.
02How many tasks does a Makezu Zap use?
The trigger uses none: Zapier can check Makezu for new users, campaigns or automations as often as your plan allows, and those checks are free. Each action that completes successfully counts as one task, per run. A Zap that creates one CRM contact per Twitter user uses one task per user; a Zap with three actions uses three. An action that fails is not counted. On the free plan you have 100 tasks a month to spend.
03Does Makezu reach Zapier in real time?
No. All three Makezu triggers are polling triggers: Zapier asks Makezu for its latest items on a timer and keeps only what it has not seen. That check runs every 15 minutes on the free plan, every 2 minutes on Professional, and every minute on Team or Enterprise. On paid plans you can also run a check by hand from the editor. None of the triggers is instant, and that cannot be changed from Zapier.
04What does it take to connect Makezu Beta to Zapier?
A Makezu account, with a login that can see and change the campaigns and automations your Zaps will use, including those you do not own. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Makezu Beta, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is then reused by every Makezu step, so you set it up once and pick it from a list afterwards.
05Where does the ID for Modify a Campaign come from?
From an earlier step of the same Zap. The ID field is required, and Makezu offers no search on Zapier to look a campaign up, so something before the action has to hand it over. Get Campaign is the natural candidate: test it, check that the campaign ID is among what comes back, then map it into the field. If the Zap starts in another tool, that tool has to hold the ID itself. Modify an Automation works the same way with its Automation_id.
06What if the Makezu operation you need is missing?
Then Zapier does not offer it today. The Makezu Beta app covers three triggers for new automations, campaigns and Twitter users, and three actions to create a template or modify an automation or a campaign. There is no search, no action to create a campaign or an automation, and no trigger for changes. A flow that depends on those cannot be built with this integration alone, so check whether the step can happen elsewhere in the Zap.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Makezu Beta?
Decide on criteria, not on a ranking. First, check which platform actually offers a ready-made Makezu connection with the operations you need; on Zapier that is three triggers and three actions. Second, compare billing: Zapier counts tasks, meaning successful actions, and the trigger is free. Third, think about speed: here every trigger polls, so your plan's checking interval sets the pace. Weigh those points against the tools your team already runs.
