Overview

What the mallabe Images Zapier integration is for

The mallabe Images Zapier integration lets a Zap edit pictures without anyone opening an image editor. Zapier is the service that links your apps: it waits for an event in one of them, then carries out steps in others. mallabe Images mostly plays the second role, as the step that transforms the picture before it moves on.

Three typical results. Lighter files: Compress Image shrinks a picture so the next tool receives something easier to store or share. Pictures at the right size: Resize Image keeps the proportions, forces exact dimensions or scales by percentage, and Crop Image cuts out the part you want. A single visual out of two: Join/Combine Images puts two pictures together into one, in the direction you pick.

Now what Zapier does not do here. mallabe Images works from a link: every action takes the address of an image, and that address must be reachable by anyone on the internet. A file sitting behind a login, or a protected link handed over by some other Zapier apps, will not go through. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot look up an image you processed earlier. And the only trigger is a resize event on the mallabe side: other edits do not start anything.

Vocabulary

Zapier words you will meet on this page

Seven terms, explained once in plain English, then used as is.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. On mallabe Images, there is one: a resized image.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or changes something. mallabe Images offers nine of them.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completed successfully. Your plan counts these and nothing else.
Polling vs instant
Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. mallabe Images is instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What mallabe Images costs you in tasks

Every image edit is an action, so every successful edit is a task. That is the number to watch.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps
  • Free plan Zap sizeTwo steps: one trigger, one action
  • Premium appNo, it works on the free plan
  • One image editOne task when it succeeds

The trigger never uses a task. Each action that works counts as one; an action that fails is not counted. Chaining edits adds up fast: resize, then compress, then upload elsewhere is three tasks per picture. mallabe Images is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, but only in Zaps of two steps. Stack two mallabe actions, or add a filter, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below is for polling triggers only: it does not apply to the instant trigger of mallabe Images.

Connect

Connect mallabe Images to Zapier

  1. 01

    Start from your Apps page

In Zapier, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your mallabe account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that edits images.

  2. 02

    Pick mallabe Images

Search for mallabe Images in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab opens on the mallabe side so you can sign in there rather than in Zapier.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log into your mallabe account in that tab and grant Zapier access. An account on the app is the only prerequisite, plus access to any file you do not own and want a Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: compress every image mallabe resizes

GoalWhen mallabe Images reports a resized image, compress it and store the lighter file in your own storage tool.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and set the trigger

Start a new Zap, choose mallabe Images and the Image Resized event, then pick your connection. The app reports each resize itself, so nothing waits on a timer.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, which gives you a real resized image to map from in the next steps.

  3. 03

    Add Compress Image

Add an action, choose mallabe Images and Compress Image, then map the link of the resized picture into the image field. Test the step and check the file it returns.

  4. 04

Send the result to your storage

Add the upload step of your storage tool and map the compressed file into it. This makes a three-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan before you can publish.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish. Each resize then costs two tasks: one for the compression, one for the upload to your storage, as long as both succeed.

Triggers

The mallabe Images trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in mallabe Images, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Image Resized

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an image resized event occurred.”

Starts your Zap when mallabe reports that one of your images has been resized, and passes that event to the next step so another action, or another app, can pick the picture up from there.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
when resizing happens on the mallabe side and you want something to follow on its own, such as compression or a copy to your files.
Watch out
it only reacts to resize events; other edits made by mallabe do not start a Zap.
Actions

The nine mallabe Images actions

mallabe Images gives you 9 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Blur Image

Action

In Zapier“Blur images and send the new image to another integration.”

Softens a picture and returns the blurred file. Blur Value is required: the higher the number, the stronger the effect.

When to use it
you want a background visual that stays discreet behind text.
Watch out
Blur Value runs from 0.3 to 1000, so test one setting on a real picture before you publish.
2

Compress Image

Action

In Zapier“Compress images and drive the new image to another integration. Note: if a given URL isn't an image file (png, jpg/jpeg, etc..) - the file will not convert. Note: some Zapier integrations give URLs that are protected - these can't be used & compressed.”

Makes an image file lighter and passes the smaller version on, ready to be stored or shared.

When to use it
heavy pictures slow down whatever receives them next.
Watch out
the link must lead to an actual image file, such as png or jpg, and protected links from some Zapier apps are refused.
3

Crop Image

Action

In Zapier“Crop images and send the new image to another integration. Note: If a given URL isn't an image file (e.g., png, jpg/jpeg, gif), the file will not convert. Also, some Zapier integrations provide protected URLs that cannot be cropped.”

Cuts out part of a picture and sends the trimmed image onward. The required Gravity setting tells mallabe where the cut starts from.

When to use it
you need square thumbnails or want to remove borders around the subject.
Watch out
protected links from some Zapier apps cannot be cropped.
4

Flip Image

Action

In Zapier“Flip images and send the new image to another integration”

Mirrors a picture, vertically, horizontally or both, according to the two switches you set, then sends the flipped version along.

When to use it
a picture comes out reversed and must be put back the right way before it goes further.
5

Greyscale Image

Action

In Zapier“Greyscale images and send the new image to another integration.”

Removes the colour from a picture and sends the black and white version to the next step. Size and framing stay as they were, so pair it with Resize Image or Crop Image when the format must change too.

When to use it
a set of pictures from different sources should share the same neutral look, whatever colours they arrived with.
6

Extract Image Metadata

Action

In Zapier“Extract image metadata. Note: some integrations give URLs that are protected - these can't be used & resized.”

Reads the information stored inside an image file and hands it to the following steps, without changing the picture.

When to use it
you want to record details about each file before deciding what to do with it.
Watch out
Image URL is required and must be publicly accessible; a protected link will not be read.
7

Join/Combine Images

Action

In Zapier“Join images into one image and send the new image to another integration.”

Merges two pictures into one and sends the combined image onward. You give the two public links, the direction of the merge and how the images line up when their sizes differ.

When to use it
a before and after visual, built from two separate files.
Watch out
all four of those fields are required.
8

Resize Image

Action

In Zapier“Resize or Scale images and drive the new image to another integration. Note: if a given URL isn't an image file (png, jpg/jpeg, gif, etc..) - the file will not convert. Note: some Zapier integrations give URLs that are protected - these can't be used & resized.”

Changes the dimensions of a picture and hands the new version to the next step. You choose how in Resize Strategy: keep the proportions, force an exact width and height, or scale by percentage.

When to use it
every picture must fit one size before it is published or stored.
Watch out
a link that does not point to an image file will not convert.
9

Rotate Image

Action

In Zapier“Rotate images and send the new image to another integration.”

Turns a picture by the angle you give in Rotation Angle, which is required, and passes the rotated file to the next step.

When to use it
images regularly arrive sideways and you want them upright before anyone sees them.
When it breaks

When a mallabe Images Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to mallabe Images. The cases below come from the app's own field notes and from the general rules of Zapier.

Almost every failure comes back to the link of the picture, or to a Zap that does more than the plan allows. Check these before publishing. If something still goes wrong, see Zapier troubleshooting.

  • The image link is not public

mallabe Images reads pictures from a link. If the link needs a login, or comes protected from another Zapier app, the action fails.
  • The link is not an image file

Resize, crop and compress only convert actual image files, such as png or jpg. A link to a page or a document will not convert.
  • A Zap that feeds itself

If a Zap writes the edited picture back where its trigger watches, it starts itself again and again and eats through your task count.
  • Old images are not processed

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Pictures that existed before stay untouched; processing them is a separate job.
  • Large bursts can be held back

A trigger that suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import for example, can be slowed down by Zapier's flood protection.
  • Chained edits need a paid plan

Two mallabe actions in a row, or a filter, make the Zap multi-step. The free plan cannot publish it.

FAQ

mallabe Images Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the mallabe Images Zapier integration free?
Yes, it runs on the free Zapier plan. mallabe Images is not a premium app, so no paid plan is needed to connect it. The free plan gives you 100 tasks per month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A Zap that resizes then compresses, or that adds a filter, is multi-step and needs a paid plan. No price is listed here because plan prices change too often; the plans page of Zapier is the reference.
02How many tasks does an image edit use on Zapier?
One task per successful action. Each mallabe Images edit is an action, so resizing a picture costs one task, and resizing then compressing it costs two. The trigger itself is free, and an action that fails is not counted. That makes chained edits the main thing to watch: three edits on every incoming picture triple your consumption compared with a single one. Count your steps before publishing a Zap that runs on every image.
03Does the mallabe Images trigger work in real time?
Yes. Image Resized is an instant trigger: mallabe tells Zapier the moment the resize happens, and the Zap starts right away. The interval grid of the Zapier plans only concerns polling triggers, which Zapier checks on a timer, so it does not apply here and a free plan starts just as fast as a paid one. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt next to it.
04What do you need to connect mallabe Images to Zapier?
A mallabe account, nothing else on the Zapier side. You open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for mallabe Images, sign in to mallabe in the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is then reused by every Zap that edits images. If the pictures you plan to edit belong to someone else, make sure their links are public, because that is what the actions read. One account is enough for all of them.
05Why does mallabe Images reject an image link?
Usually because the link is not public or not an image. Every action reads the picture from its address, so the address must open for anyone, without a login. Some Zapier apps hand over protected links, and mallabe Images cannot use those. The link must also point to an actual image file, such as png or jpg; a link to a web page or a document will not convert, even if it shows a picture.
06What if the mallabe Images operation you need does not exist?
Then the Zap cannot do it with this app today. The integration offers nine actions, from resize and crop to blur, greyscale, join and metadata, plus one trigger and no search. An edit outside that list, or looking up an image processed earlier, is not available from the editor. Check the list of operations on the mallabe Images page of Zapier before building, since that is exactly what the editor will offer.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for mallabe Images?
It depends on your criteria, not on a set winner. On Zapier, mallabe Images works on the free plan in two-step Zaps, which suits a single edit per picture. If you plan to chain several edits on each image, look at how each platform counts usage, because on Zapier every edit is a task and chains quickly need a paid plan. Also check whether mallabe is offered on the other platforms; this page does not cover them.
