Overview

What the MarketVue Zapier integration does for your campaigns

MarketVue runs direct mail from one place: you design the piece, send it and follow the response. Hooking it to Zapier lets the responses it collects reach your other apps, and lets those apps add people to a mail campaign. Both directions are covered, through two triggers and one action.

Three typical results. A sales follow-up list that fills itself: each time someone fills in the form on a campaign lander, New Web Submission passes the entry to your CRM or your spreadsheet. A record of phone responses: New Call fires when a call comes in, so every incoming call can be logged next to the web leads. And a mailing list fed from elsewhere: Create Mailpiece adds a recipient to a given campaign, with a full postal address, whenever another app hands one over.

Both triggers are instant, which is good news on a free plan: no waiting for a timed check, whatever your subscription.

What Zapier does not do with MarketVue: there is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up an existing mailpiece or a campaign. There is no action to edit or cancel a mailpiece once created, and nothing to design the piece itself. Campaign setup stays in MarketVue. Vocabulary

Zapier words you will meet on this page

Seven terms, one line each, in everyday language. Once read, they are used without a reminder.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a new call in MarketVue. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. In MarketVue, that is Create Mailpiece.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan allowance is a count of those tasks.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer instead.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it there otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something already stored in an app for later steps to use. MarketVue has no search step on Zapier.
Cost

What a MarketVue Zap costs

MarketVue is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan. What you pay for is tasks, and only actions create them.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo
  • MarketVue triggersBoth instant, free to fire
  • BilledEach successful action

New Call and New Web Submission cost nothing when they fire. Each action that succeeds after them counts as one task, and a failed action is not counted. Create Mailpiece follows the same rule: one successful mailpiece, one task. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps of two steps, one trigger and one action. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap turns into a multi-step Zap (anything beyond one trigger and one action), which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below does not apply to the two MarketVue triggers, which are instant; it only matters when another app's polling trigger starts a Zap that ends on Create Mailpiece.

Connect

Connect MarketVue to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. You need a MarketVue account first; Zapier connects to it, it does not open one for you.

  2. 02

    Pick MarketVue

Search for MarketVue in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens on the MarketVue side so you can sign in to your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to MarketVue in that tab and allow Zapier in. The connection (your account linked once and reused by every step) is now listed. Using a colleague's campaigns? Make sure the account can read and write them.

First Zap

Your first Zap: lander submissions into your CRM

GoalEvery form submitted on a campaign lander creates a contact in your CRM, but only when a field you pick matches your rule.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose MarketVue as the trigger app and New Web Submission as the event. Enter the Campaign ID of the campaign whose lander you want to watch.

  2. 02

    Test with a real entry

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent submissions of the connected account; pick a complete one so the rest is mapped on real data.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

From the plus icon, add Filter and set the field, the rule and the value. Use a text rule on a text field. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, so a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the CRM step

Add your CRM with its create-contact action and map the fields of the submission into it. Check at test time which fields the submission actually carries.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the CRM step once and read what came back. When the contact looks right, click Publish: the Zap is on from that moment.

Triggers

MarketVue triggers in Zapier

2 events start a Zap when something happens in MarketVue, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Call

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new phone call is received.”

Starts a Zap each time MarketVue receives a new phone call. That gives you a way to keep phone responses to a mailing in the same place as the rest of your follow-up, instead of reading them off a separate screen.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you want each call to drop a line in a spreadsheet or a note in your CRM, so the team sees calls alongside the rest of the follow-up.
Watch out
the fields a call carries are not listed in the source, so check at test time what comes back before you map anything.
2

New Web Submission

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when there is a new submission to the selected web lander.”

Fires when someone submits the form on the web lander of a campaign you select. Each entry becomes a starting point for the rest of the Zap, whether that is a contact, a row or a message to the team.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your mail piece sends people to a lander, and you want their answers in your CRM without exporting anything by hand.
Watch out
the trigger asks for a Campaign ID, so one Zap watches one campaign; a second campaign needs its own Zap.
Actions

The MarketVue action in Zapier

MarketVue gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Mailpiece

Action

In Zapier“Creates a Mailpiece for an specific campaign”

Adds a mailpiece to a chosen MarketVue campaign for one recipient, so a person collected elsewhere gets the piece without anyone typing the address into MarketVue.

When to use it
a new customer lands in another app and should receive the campaign's mailing.
Watch out
Campaign ID, First Name, Last Name, Address, City, State and Zip Code are all required, so an incomplete address stops the step.
When it breaks

When a MarketVue Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to MarketVue, and the source records no limit specific to the app. The cases below come from how Zapier behaves in general.

Four cases are worth reading before you publish. Each has a simple fix. If a Zap still fails after that, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next step.

  • Past calls and submissions stay put

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Calls and lander entries received before that are not sent anywhere; moving them is a separate job.
  • An address is incomplete

Create Mailpiece requires a name, an address, a city, a state and a zip code. If one is empty in the source app, the step fails, and a failed action costs no task.
  • A Zap that feeds itself

A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, burning through tasks. Keep the trigger and the action on separate things.
  • A huge batch held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back instead of passing them all on.

FAQ

MarketVue Zapier integration: questions people ask

01Is the MarketVue Zapier integration free?
Yes. MarketVue is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and lets you build unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A Zap from New Web Submission to a single CRM step fits inside that. Add a filter, or a second action after the first, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which requires a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a MarketVue Zap use?
One per successful action, nothing for the trigger. When New Call or New Web Submission fires, Zapier counts nothing. The step that follows costs one task if it works and nothing if it fails. Create Mailpiece follows the same rule: each mailpiece created is one task. If your Zap has three actions, a single call or submission can use three tasks, so count the steps before you estimate a month of volume.
03Do MarketVue calls and submissions reach Zapier in real time?
Yes, both MarketVue triggers are instant. MarketVue reports a new call or a new lander submission to Zapier itself, so the Zap does not wait for a timed check, and the plan interval does not apply, even on the free plan. In the editor, an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. Create Mailpiece is different: how fast it runs depends on the trigger of the app that starts the Zap.
04What do you need to connect MarketVue to Zapier?
A MarketVue account, then a few clicks. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for MarketVue, sign in to it in the tab that opens and grant access. If the campaigns belong to someone else, the account you connect needs read and write access to them. Have the Campaign ID of each campaign ready too, since the web trigger and the mailpiece action both ask for it. Once linked, every Zap that uses MarketVue reuses that same connection.
05Why does MarketVue keep asking for a Campaign ID?
Because both New Web Submission and Create Mailpiece are tied to one campaign, and the Campaign ID is a required field on each. On the trigger, it decides which lander the Zap listens to; on the action, which campaign receives the mailpiece. Without it the step cannot be set up at all. Keep the ID of each campaign at hand and build one Zap per campaign you want to automate, rather than trying to cover several campaigns with one Zap.
06What if the MarketVue operation you need is not available?
Then Zapier cannot do it with MarketVue for now. The editor offers New Call, New Web Submission and Create Mailpiece, with no search step and no action to edit or cancel a mailpiece. Designing pieces and setting up campaigns stay inside MarketVue. The list follows the version of the app that Zapier publishes, and it can change from one version to the next, so check the MarketVue page on zapier.com again before ruling the idea out.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for MarketVue?
Pick by criteria rather than by a ranking. Check coverage first: on Zapier, MarketVue gives two instant triggers and one action, so confirm the other tool offers the same events before moving anything. Then billing: Zapier counts tasks per successful action and nothing for triggers, which keeps a call log cheap. Last, plan limits: on the free plan, Zaps stay at two steps, so a filter means paying. Which of these weighs most depends on your mail volume.
