Overview

What the Mass Texting Service Zapier integration does

Mass Texting Service sends text messages in bulk. On Zapier it offers a single action, Send Messages: something happens in another app, and an SMS goes out to the phone numbers that event carries. Nothing in Mass Texting Service can start a Zap, so it always sits at the end of the chain.

Three results you can get from that one action. A confirmation text after a sign-up: a form submission hands over a phone number, and Send Messages texts that person straight back. A message to every new line of a list: a row added to your spreadsheet becomes an SMS to the number in that row, with the text built from its other columns. A contact list that grows by itself: when a number is not known yet, Mass Texting Service creates the contact as it sends, so your audience fills up without an import.

What Zapier does not do here: it cannot react to anything in Mass Texting Service, such as a reply, because the app has no trigger. It cannot look up a contact first, since there is no search step. Its number field asks for a US-based ten-digit number, and what happens with any other number is not documented. And it will not text the people who were in your list before the Zap was switched on.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back all along this page. Here they are, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Mass Texting Service has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes or sends something for you, here a text message.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan gives you a count of those each month.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer; an instant one is reported by its app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Mass Texting Service Zap really costs

Mass Texting Service is not a premium app: it works from the free plan. Zapier bills tasks, not Zaps.

  • Premium appNo, available on the free plan
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • App triggersNone, the Zap starts in another app

The trigger costs nothing, whichever app it comes from. Each Send Messages step that succeeds counts as one task; one that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. A filter, or a second action after the SMS, makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan. Mass Texting Service has no trigger of its own, so the interval grid below only matters if the trigger you choose in the other app is a polling one.

Connect

Connect Mass Texting Service to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap step that sends through it.

  2. 02

    Pick Mass Texting Service

Search the app by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need a Mass Texting Service account first; Zapier only links an account that already exists.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A tab opens on Mass Texting Service. Sign in, then grant Zapier access to the account. When the tab closes, the connection appears in your list, ready for any Zap.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a text for each new row of your list

GoalEach time a row is added to your spreadsheet and passes your filter, the number in that row gets an SMS built from the row's other columns.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and pick your spreadsheet tool with its new-row event as the trigger. Connect that account the same way you connected Mass Texting Service.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent rows of the connected sheet. Pick a real one, with a phone number in it, so the mapping uses actual values.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Add a filter step from the plus icon and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. Rows that fail it stop there, and no text goes out. The Zap is now multi-step.

  4. 04

    Add Send Messages

Choose Mass Texting Service, then Send Messages. Map the phone column to the number field and write the message, inserting row values where they help.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Send the test to a number you own and check that the text arrives as written. When it reads right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Actions

Mass Texting Service action

Mass Texting Service gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Send Messages

Action

In Zapier“Sends an SMS to the provided phone numbers”

Texts the phone numbers you pass it with the message you write, and adds any number it does not know yet as a new contact.

When to use it
an event in another app, a form filled in or a row added, should end with an SMS to the person concerned.
Watch out
the number field asks for a US-based ten-digit number and the message body is required; how another format is handled is not documented, so test with your own phone before publishing.
When it breaks

When a Mass Texting Service Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Mass Texting Service and records no limit specific to it. What breaks is general Zapier behaviour, plus the number format the app expects.

Four cases worth knowing before the first real text goes out. If a run fails anyway, our Zapier troubleshooting guide is the place to start.

  • A number outside the US format

Send Messages expects a US-based number of ten digits. A number stored with another country code or extra characters may not go through; check at test.
  • An empty message or number

Both the phone number and the text are required. If the trigger app leaves either one blank on some records, the step cannot complete for those.
  • The old list is not texted

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is published. People already in your sheet or form before that get nothing; reaching them is a separate job.
  • A huge batch is held back

When the other app's trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.

FAQ

Mass Texting Service Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Mass Texting Service Zapier integration free?
Yes. Mass Texting Service is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps, one trigger from another app and the Send Messages action. Texting each new form sign-up fits in that. A filter that keeps only some sign-ups, or a second action after the text, turns the Zap into a multi-step one, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does each SMS use?
Each Send Messages step that succeeds counts as one task, and the trigger costs nothing. A Zap that texts every new row of a spreadsheet therefore costs one task per row that gets a message. A step that fails is not counted. Rows stopped by a filter never reach the action, so they cost no task either. To size your plan, estimate how many records the other app will send each month.
03Are Mass Texting Service texts sent in real time?
That depends on the app that starts your Zap, since Mass Texting Service has no trigger. If the other app's trigger is instant, it alerts Zapier the moment something happens and the text follows straight away. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks it at your plan's interval: 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt.
04What do you need to connect Mass Texting Service?
An existing Mass Texting Service account. The connection runs from the Apps page of Zapier: click + Add connection, search the app, click Add connection, sign in in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access. You also need an account on the app that will start the Zap, connected in the same way. Before mapping anything, check that this app stores phone numbers in the US ten-digit format that Send Messages expects.
05Can Mass Texting Service text numbers outside the US?
The documentation does not say. The Phone Number field on Zapier asks for a US-based number of ten digits, and nothing describes what happens with a number from another country, or one stored with a prefix and punctuation. Treat it as a possible failure and check it at test, with a real number, before you count on it. If your list mixes countries, a filter placed before the action can keep the Zap to the numbers that fit the requested format, at the price of a multi-step Zap on a paid plan.
06What if the Mass Texting Service operation you want is missing?
Then Zapier cannot do it with this app today. The editor offers one operation, Send Messages, and nothing else: no trigger to react to replies or new contacts, no search, no way to update or remove a contact. Anything beyond sending has to happen in Mass Texting Service itself or in the app on the other side of the Zap. Before you design around that, see whether another automation tool exposes more of this app.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Mass Texting Service?
There is no single winner; it comes down to criteria. Check first which tool actually lists a Mass Texting Service connector, and with what operations; on Zapier it is one send action. Then think about how many steps your flow needs, since the free plan stops at two. Finally, look at how each tool counts usage: on Zapier every text that goes out successfully is a task. Your monthly volume of messages decides most of it.
