Overview

What the Lifted Work Zapier integration changes for an agency

The Lifted Work Zapier integration connects your Lifted Work account to your other apps through a Zap, the automation you build on Zapier. Lifted Work can start a Zap when a client or a task is created, completed or archived, and it can receive clients, tasks, correspondence and feed items from other tools.

Three results you can build on it. Client onboarding that starts itself: New Client fires the moment a client is created, and Create Task lays down the first piece of work without anyone remembering to do it. Work that closes in both directions: Task Completed tells your other tools a job is done, while Complete Task lets another app tick it off inside Lifted Work. And a client record that stays tidy: Create Correspondence and Create Feed Item log what happened elsewhere, and Archive Client closes the file when the relationship ends.

The good news is speed: all four triggers are instant, so the plan you are on does not slow them down. The limits are elsewhere. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up an existing client or task by name before acting on it. Nothing can be deleted or edited beyond completing and archiving. And any Zap with more than one action, such as a new client that gets both a task and a feed item, requires a paid plan. To get your team building Zaps like these with confidence, look at our Zapier training.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Seven terms you will see on every screen. One line each, no jargon.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap; once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Lifted Work has four, such as New Task.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, such as Create Client.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Not to be confused with a task in Lifted Work.
Instant vs polling trigger
Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens. Polling: Zapier asks on a timer. All four Lifted Work triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Lifted Work account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step of every Zap that touches Lifted Work.
Cost

What Lifted Work Zaps cost

Zapier bills tasks, meaning actions that complete. The trigger never costs anything. With Lifted Work there is not even a waiting game: every trigger is instant, so the interval grid below does not apply to it.

  • Free plan100 tasks per month
  • Zaps on the free planUnlimited, two steps each
  • Premium appNo
  • Lifted Work triggersAll instant, no waiting on any plan

A Zap that creates one Lifted Work task per new client costs one task per client. Add a feed item on top and it costs two, since each successful action counts on its own. An action that fails is not billed. Lifted Work is not a premium app, so the free plan accepts it, but only for two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below only matters if another app's polling trigger starts the Zap.

Connect

Connect Lifted Work to Zapier

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page, which holds every connection you have made. Click + Add connection. Whatever you set up here, any Zap that uses Lifted Work can reuse.

  2. 02

    Pick Lifted Work

Search for Lifted Work in the dialog and select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Lifted Work sign-in screen; keep the Zapier tab open behind it.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in with your Lifted Work account and grant Zapier access. You need an account on Lifted Work, plus access to any client or task you do not own yourself but want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Lifted Work Zap: onboarding on autopilot

GoalWhen a client is created in Lifted Work and passes your condition, a first task is created for it straight away.

  1. 01

    Build: start on New Client

Create a Zap, choose Lifted Work as the trigger app and New Client as the event. Select your connection. The editor shows a lightning bolt: this trigger is instant.

  2. 02

    Test with a real client

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent clients from your account, so pick a real one; its fields are what you will map in the next steps.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon and add Filter. Fill the three boxes: the client field to check, the rule, and the value to compare with. Use a text rule for text and a number rule for numbers.

  4. 04

    Add Create Task

Add Lifted Work as the action and pick Create Task. Map the client details from the trigger into the task, then test the step and check the task it created.

  5. 05

    Publish

Publish the Zap to switch it on. Clients created from now on get their task; existing ones do not. With the filter, this Zap is multi-step and runs on a paid plan.

Triggers

Lifted Work triggers

4 events start a Zap when something happens in Lifted Work, and 4 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Client Archived

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a client is archived.”

Starts the Zap when a client is archived in Lifted Work. That is the moment to tidy up elsewhere: stop a recurring reminder, move the client to a past-clients list, or tell the team the account is closed.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
when ending a client relationship in Lifted Work should also close things down in your other tools.
Watch out
a Zap that ends with Archive Client on the same account can feed itself; keep those two apart.
2

New Client

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new client is created.”

Fires as soon as a client is created in your Lifted Work account and sends its details down the Zap. It is the natural starting point for onboarding: create a first task, open a folder elsewhere, or add the client to a shared list.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
whenever a new client should set work in motion without someone remembering to do it.
Watch out
pairing it with Create Client on the same account creates a loop that burns tasks.
3

New Task

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new task is created.”

Kicks off whenever a task is created in Lifted Work, whoever created it. The task's details travel to the next step, which can put it in a calendar, post it to a team channel or copy it to another tracker your colleagues follow.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
when people outside Lifted Work need to see new work the moment it is assigned.
Watch out
never end this Zap with Create Task in the same account, or each new task spawns another.
4

Task Completed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a task is marked as complete.”

Runs when a task is marked as complete in Lifted Work. It turns finished work into a signal for other apps: a row in a delivery log, a note to the client, or a heads-up to whoever picks up the next step.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
when someone outside the tool waits on a task being done before they can move.
Watch out
tasks completed before the Zap was published are never sent.
Actions

Lifted Work actions

Lifted Work gives you 6 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Archive Client

Action

In Zapier“Archives a client in the system.”

Archives a client in Lifted Work, the way you would close a file at the end of a project. You have to say which client.

When to use it
when a contract ends in another system and Lifted Work should reflect it.
Watch out
combined with the Client Archived trigger, this can start a loop.
2

Complete Task

Action

In Zapier“Marks a task in the system as complete.”

Marks a Lifted Work task as done from outside the app. The task to complete is required.

When to use it
when the proof that the work is done lives in another tool and you want Lifted Work to follow.
Watch out
map the task from an earlier step; a task picked by hand stays the same on every run.
3

Create Client

Action

In Zapier“Creates a client in the system.”

Adds a client to Lifted Work from data another app sends. Only the client name is required.

When to use it
when a client first appears in another tool and should exist in Lifted Work without retyping.
Watch out
there is no search to check for an existing client first, so the same name can be created twice.
4

Create Correspondence

Action

In Zapier“Creates a correspondence in the system.”

Logs a piece of correspondence in Lifted Work, so client exchanges sit in one place. A Mark as resolved option lets you file it as already handled.

When to use it
when messages that start in another tool belong in the client's history in Lifted Work.
Watch out
map the content from a real test item before publishing.
5

Create Feed Item

Action

In Zapier“Creates a feed item in the system.”

Posts an item to the Lifted Work feed. You must choose a Feed Item Type before the step can run.

When to use it
when something worth knowing happens in another app and the team follows the feed rather than notifications.
Watch out
pick the type from the list the editor offers, then test the step.
6

Create Task

Action

In Zapier“Creates a task in the system.”

Puts a new task into Lifted Work, ready for your team to pick up. Zapier lists an Autocomplete field among its options.

When to use it
when an event in another app, such as a new request, should turn into work in Lifted Work.
Watch out
do not combine it with the New Task trigger on the same account, or the Zap loops.
When it breaks

When a Lifted Work Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Lifted Work and lists no limit specific to it. The failures to plan for are the ones every Zap shares, and one of them is easy to trigger here.

Lifted Work has triggers and actions on the same objects, clients and tasks, which makes loops a real risk. Read the cases below before publishing, and if a Zap still misbehaves, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the place to start.

  • The task that breeds tasks

New Task followed by Create Task in the same account writes where the trigger watches. Each run sets off the next, and your task count drains fast.
  • Client loops

The same goes for New Client with Create Client, or Client Archived with Archive Client. Keep the trigger and the action on different objects.
  • Nothing from before

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Clients and tasks already in Lifted Work are never picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • Bulk imports can be held

Import a big batch of clients or tasks at once and the trigger suddenly returns a huge pile. Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.

FAQ

Lifted Work Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the Lifted Work Zapier integration free?
On the Zapier side, yes. Lifted Work is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the shape of each Zap: one trigger and one action. New Client creating a single Lifted Work task fits. Add a filter, a feed item or a message to another app and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Lifted Work's own subscription is not covered here.
02How many Zapier tasks does a Lifted Work Zap use?
One per action that completes, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that creates one Lifted Work task for each new client uses one Zapier task per client; if it also posts a feed item, two. Failed actions are not counted. Watch the vocabulary: a task in Lifted Work is a piece of work, a task in Zapier is a billing unit. A few apps and actions take more than one Zapier task, so check your history after the first runs.
03Does Lifted Work work in real time with Zapier?
Yes. All four Lifted Work triggers, Client Archived, New Client, New Task and Task Completed, are instant: Lifted Work tells Zapier the moment the event happens, and the Zap starts right away. The interval grid of the plans does not apply to them, so even the free plan gets them without waiting. The editor shows a lightning bolt on these Zaps. Delays only creep in if the Zap starts from another app that polls.
04What does it take to connect Lifted Work to Zapier?
A Lifted Work account and a Zapier account. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Lifted Work, click Add connection, then sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. If a Zap has to read or change clients or tasks you do not own, your account needs access to them too. The connection is then reused by every Zap that works with Lifted Work.
05Why does a Lifted Work Zap keep running on its own?
Because it writes into the very place its trigger watches. New Task followed by Create Task, New Client followed by Create Client, or Client Archived followed by Archive Client on the same account: each action fires the trigger again, and the Zap loops while your task count drains. Turn the Zap off, then rebuild it so the trigger and the action work on different objects, or add a filter that stops the items your own Zap created.
06What if the Lifted Work operation you want is not available?
Then this integration does not offer it today. Lifted Work exposes four triggers and six actions on Zapier, with no search and no step to edit or delete a client or a task. Finding a client by name before updating it, for instance, cannot be built here. The options are to rethink the Zap around the steps that exist, or to handle that part on another automation platform. The list can change, so check the Lifted Work page on Zapier before planning.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Lifted Work?
It depends on your criteria, not on a ranking. On Zapier, Lifted Work brings four instant triggers and six actions, usable from the free plan for two-step Zaps and without any polling delay. That suits an agency that wants fast reactions and simple setup. Whether Make or n8n offer Lifted Work, and with which operations, is outside this page. Compare on the operations available, on how each run is billed, and on who will maintain the automation over time.
