Overview

What the ME-QR QR Code Zapier integration does for you

The ME-QR QR Code Zapier integration connects ME-QR, a tool to generate, manage and track QR codes, to the rest of your stack. It works in two directions: Zapier hears about each scan of a dynamic code the moment it happens, and it can create a new code in ME-QR from data another app carries, for twenty kinds of content.

Three results worth building. A link code for every new row. Someone adds a page address to your spreadsheet, and Create Link Qr Code turns it into a code without anyone opening ME-QR. A contact card per team member. A new person in your team sheet gets a contact code from Create VCard Qr Code. A heads-up on each scan. New QR Scan posts to your team chat as soon as someone scans a dynamic code.

The best news: New QR Scan is instant. ME-QR tells Zapier itself, so the plan interval never delays it, even on the free plan. Now the limits. The trigger only covers dynamic QR codes. There is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up an existing code, and no operation edits or deletes one: every action creates a new code. The file-based actions ask for a link to the file, not the file itself, so the file has to be online before the Zap runs.

Vocabulary

Zapier words used on this page

Eight terms, one line each, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap. ME-QR QR Code has one: a scan of one of your dynamic QR codes.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes something for you, here a new QR code in ME-QR.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's count is a count of those.
Instant vs polling
Instant: the app tells Zapier the moment the event happens. Polling: Zapier checks on a timer. New QR Scan is instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Connection
Your ME-QR account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step of every Zap that uses the app.
Cost

What an ME-QR QR Code Zap really costs

Scans are free to receive. Each code you create counts.

  • Trigger1, instant
  • Actions20
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Reserved to paid plansNo

The trigger never costs a task, and an action that fails is not counted. Each successful action counts one task, so twenty codes created means twenty tasks, and in a Zap with several actions each success counts on its own. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited two-step Zaps, and ME-QR is not reserved to paid plans. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below does not apply to New QR Scan, which is instant; it only matters when another app's polling trigger starts the Zap.

Connect

Connect ME-QR QR Code to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

Open Apps and add a connection

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need an ME-QR account first, and access to any codes you do not own that the Zap should touch.

  2. 02

    Pick ME-QR QR Code

Search for ME-QR QR Code in the dialog, pick it and click Add connection. A tab opens on the ME-QR sign-in. The connection saved here is reused by every ME-QR step afterwards.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to ME-QR in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. From then on, the scan trigger and all twenty actions use that same account, whichever Zap they sit in.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a chat message for each QR scan

GoalPost a message in your team chat each time one of your dynamic QR codes is scanned and passes your rule.

  1. 01

    Build: pick New QR Scan

Start a new Zap, choose ME-QR QR Code as the app that starts it and New QR Scan as the trigger, then select the connection you saved earlier.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent scans of the connected account, so pick a real one to map the next steps on.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

From the plus icon, add a Filter and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. A text rule only works on text, a number rule only on numbers.

  4. 04

    Add the chat message

Add your team chat as the action app, choose its send-message event and place the scan details from ME-QR into the message.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action and read the message it posted. If it looks right, click Publish. With the filter, this Zap is multi-step and needs a paid plan.

Triggers

ME-QR QR Code trigger

1 event starts a Zap when something happens in ME-QR QR Code, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New QR Scan

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a dynamic QR code is scanned.”

Starts the Zap each time someone scans one of your dynamic QR codes. The scan becomes data you can count, log or act on in any other app.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
logging scans in a spreadsheet, or warning a colleague when one of your codes starts being used.
Watch out
only dynamic codes fire it; check at test that the codes you care about are dynamic ones before you rely on this Zap.
Actions

ME-QR QR Code actions

ME-QR QR Code gives you 20 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create App Store Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New App Store Qr Code”

Store listings get their own action: it makes a code that sends people to an app's store listing. No required field is listed for it.

When to use it
a code should invite people to download your mobile app.
Watch out
open the action in the editor to see which fields it asks for, then scan the test code on a phone.
2

Create Audio Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Audio Qr Code”

Creates a code that leads to an audio file, from the link entered in the required Audio field.

When to use it
an audio file already online should be one scan away.
Watch out
the field takes a link to the audio file; host the file first, then scan the test code.
3

Create Email Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Email Qr Code”

Prepares an email to a given address when someone scans, with the receiver's address required.

When to use it
a contact address should be one scan away.

Email To is required; map a real address and scan the code to see the draft it opens.
4

Create Facebook Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Facebook Qr Code”

Points a new code at a Facebook page or profile, entered in the required Link field.

When to use it
every new location or event page listed in a sheet should get a code that opens it.
Watch out
map the full Facebook link, not just a page name.
5

Create Image Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Image Qr Code”

Links a QR code to a picture, given as a link to the image file in the required Image field.

When to use it
showing an image already online to anyone who scans.
Watch out
a link to a page that merely contains the image is not the same as a link to the image file; test it.
6

Create Instagram Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Instagram Qr Code”

Sends whoever scans to an Instagram profile, from the link you map into the required field.

When to use it
a code should invite people to follow an account.

the Link field is required; a handle alone may not be enough, so test with the full link.
9

Create PCR Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New PCR Qr Code”

Produces a PCR code from a link to a PDF file, which is the one required input.

When to use it
a PDF document of this kind has to be reachable through a code.
Watch out
the File field expects a link to a PDF; test with a real document and scan the result.
10

Create PDF Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Pdf Qr Code”

Generates a code that points to a PDF. The Pdf field wants a link to the file, not the file itself.

When to use it
a PDF already stored online should be one scan away.
Watch out
test with the real link and scan the code it creates before you share it.
11

Create PPTX Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New PPTX Qr Code”

Makes a code for a PPTX presentation, using the link to the document as its required input.

When to use it
handing a PPTX presentation to people through a single code.
Watch out
the File field takes a link to the deck, so the deck has to be online before the Zap runs.
12

Create Snapchat Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Snapchat Qr Code”

For Snapchat, this action builds a code that leads to a Snapchat link, the only required field of this action.

When to use it
sending people to a Snapchat account with a single scan.
Watch out
scan the test code with a phone before publishing, to be sure it opens the right account.
13

Create Telegram Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Telegram Qr Code”

Opens a Telegram link through a QR code, built from the link given in the required field.

When to use it
inviting people into a channel or a group from a code.
Watch out
if the invite link changes on the Telegram side, a new code is needed; this action only creates.
14

Create Text Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Text Qr Code”

Encodes a piece of plain text that shows up when scanned, entered in the required Text field.

When to use it
a short instruction, a reference or a code number should appear on screen without a website.
Watch out
keep the text short and scan the test code to check it reads well on a phone.
15

Create TikTok Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New TikTok Qr Code”

Leads anyone who scans to a TikTok link, entered in the Link field, which is required.

When to use it

Watch out
map the full TikTok link from the earlier step and check the test code.
16

Create Twitter Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New Twitter Qr Code”

Turns a Twitter link into a QR code, with the link as the single required field.

When to use it
pointing whoever scans to a profile or a post.
Watch out
the action keeps the Twitter name in the editor; test with the link you actually use today.
17

Create VCard Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New VCard Qr Code”

Packs contact details into a vCard code. Only Name is marked as required.

When to use it
each new person added to your team sheet gets a code with their contact details.
Watch out
with only the name required, map every other detail you want saved and check the card at test.
18

Create WhatsApp Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New WhatsApp Qr Code”

Opens a WhatsApp conversation from a scan, using the phone number in the required Phone field.

When to use it
letting people start a chat with a given number without typing it.
Watch out
check at test that the chat opens on the right number.
19

Create WiFi Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New WiFi Qr Code”

A WiFi network becomes a code here, built from its name (SSID), its encryption and its password, all three required.

When to use it
a new network or a changed password recorded elsewhere should produce a fresh code.
Watch out
Password is required, so the earlier step must carry the network password; keep the source of that data restricted.
20

Create YouTube Qr Code

Action

In Zapier“Create New YouTube Qr Code”

Builds a code that opens a YouTube link, required in the Link field.

When to use it
each new video listed in a sheet should get a code that opens it.
Watch out
map the video or channel link exactly; scan the result before you share it.
When it breaks

When an ME-QR QR Code Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to ME-QR QR Code and no app-specific limit is on record. What breaks comes from required fields and from how Zapier works in general.

  • Static codes never fire

New QR Scan only reports scans of dynamic QR codes. A code that is not dynamic will not start the Zap, however often people scan it.
  • A file instead of a link

PDF, PPTX, PCR, image and audio codes ask for a link to the file. If the earlier step carries something else, the action has nothing to point to.
  • No backlog

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Scans made before that are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • A burst of scans

If ME-QR suddenly sends a huge batch at once, Zapier's flood protection can hold that batch back.
  • Loops

As a general precaution, a Zap that writes where its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again and burn through tasks.
  • One run, one new code

No operation edits or finds an existing code. Each successful run creates a new one and costs a task, so test with care.

FAQ

ME-QR QR Code Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the ME-QR QR Code Zapier integration free?
Yes. ME-QR QR Code is not one of the apps Zapier reserves to paid plans, so it works on the free plan, which allows an unlimited number of Zaps of two steps each, one trigger and one action, with 100 tasks a month. New QR Scan followed by a chat message fits that shape. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does an ME-QR QR Code Zap use?
One per action that succeeds. A Zap that creates a code for each of 40 new rows in a spreadsheet uses 40 tasks. The scan trigger costs nothing, however many scans come in, and an action that fails is not counted. In a Zap with several actions each success counts on its own, so a scan that posts a message and adds a row uses two tasks. A Zap with a single action costs half of that per scan.
03Does ME-QR QR Code report scans in real time?
Yes. New QR Scan is an instant trigger: ME-QR tells Zapier the moment a dynamic code is scanned, so the Zap starts right away whatever your plan, and the free plan's 15-minute interval does not apply. In the editor, a Zap built on it shows a lightning bolt. Only a Zap that starts on another app's polling trigger, for example a new spreadsheet row, waits for your plan's interval. No setting changes that.
04What does connecting ME-QR QR Code to Zapier require?
An ME-QR account, plus access to any codes you do not own that the Zap should touch. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for ME-QR QR Code, pick it and click Add connection. Sign in to ME-QR in the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is saved once, and the trigger and all twenty actions reuse it. Make sure the codes you want to watch belong to that account.
05Why does a scanned code not start the Zap?
Possibly because it is not a dynamic code. New QR Scan only reports scans of dynamic QR codes, so a static code can be scanned many times without anything reaching Zapier. Check the code type in ME-QR first. Then check the Zap is published, since a Zap only reacts to scans made after it is switched on. A scan from before publication is never picked up afterwards. Then scan the code once more with a phone.
06What if the QR code type you need is not listed?
Then Zapier does not offer it for ME-QR QR Code. The list holds twenty create actions, from links and files to social profiles, contact cards, text and WiFi, plus one scan trigger. No operation edits, finds or deletes a code. When a type is missing, Create Link Qr Code pointed at the right page can cover the need; check it at test. Check the app page on Zapier before you build, since the list can change.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for ME-QR QR Code?
Decide by criteria. On Zapier, ME-QR QR Code works on the free plan, its scan trigger is instant so speed does not depend on your plan, and twenty actions cover twenty code types. Every created code costs a task, which matters at volume. For Make or n8n, first check whether ME-QR has a module or node there at all, which this page does not cover, then compare the other apps in your flow.
