Overview

What the Menu Pricing Zapier integration actually does

Menu Pricing is a pricing platform by EDS for building restaurant-style menus of HVAC solutions (heating, ventilation and air conditioning). Zapier links its customer records to your other apps: a Zap (the automation you build on Zapier) starts when a customer is created or updated in Menu Pricing, and it can also create a customer there from data collected elsewhere.

A CRM that knows every new customer. Customer Created hands each new Menu Pricing customer to your CRM, so the sales side sees them without a second entry.

Changes that follow the customer. Customer Updated fires when an existing customer is edited, which lets a spreadsheet or a mailing list stay in step with Menu Pricing.

Customers that start somewhere else. Create Customer adds a customer to Menu Pricing from a form or another tool, as long as the source carries the full name, email, street address, city, state, zip code and equipment type.

What Zapier does not do here. There is no search, so a Zap cannot check whether a customer already exists before creating one. There is no update or delete action either: edits are made in Menu Pricing. And customers created before the Zap was switched on are never picked up. The good news is speed: both triggers are instant, so the plan you are on does not slow them down. For the bigger picture, see our Zapier review.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back on this page. Here they are once, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, for example a customer created in Menu Pricing.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or creates something for you, like a new customer.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer; an instant one is reported by the app the moment it happens. Both Menu Pricing triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Menu Pricing Zap really costs

Menu Pricing is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan. You pay in tasks, and only actions that succeed are counted.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps each
  • TriggersBoth instant, never billed
  • Failed actionNot counted
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan

The trigger never costs a task. Each action that goes through counts once, and one that fails is not billed, so a Zap that copies each new customer to your CRM costs one task per customer. Adding a chat message after it doubles that and makes the Zap multi-step, which the free plan does not run. The interval grid below is Zapier's general one: it does not apply to Menu Pricing's two triggers, which are instant.

Connect

Connect Menu Pricing to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need a Menu Pricing account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Menu Pricing

Type Menu Pricing in the search box of the dialog, select it from the results, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the Menu Pricing side for the sign-in.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Log in to Menu Pricing in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once and reused by every Zap step that reads or writes Menu Pricing customers.

First Zap

Your first Zap: new customer to CRM, with a heads-up to the team

GoalWhen a customer is created in Menu Pricing, create the matching contact in your CRM, then post a short message in your team chat.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap in the editor and give it a name. With two actions it has three steps, so it is a multi-step Zap and needs a paid plan or the free trial.

  2. 02

    Set the trigger

Pick Menu Pricing and Customer Created, then your connection. Test it: Zapier brings back the three most recent customers, so you map fields on a real one.

  3. 03

    Add the CRM contact

Pick your CRM and its create-contact action. Map the customer details you saw on the trigger test into the contact, without assuming a field exists.

  4. 04

    Add the chat message

Pick your team chat and its message action. Write a short line with the customer's name so the team knows who just came in through Menu Pricing.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Run each action test and check the contact in the CRM and the message in the chat. When both look right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Triggers

The 2 Menu Pricing triggers

2 events start a Zap when something happens in Menu Pricing, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Customer Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new Customer is created.”

Starts your Zap each time a new customer is created in Menu Pricing. It is the entry point for everything that should happen once a customer exists: a CRM record, a welcome email, a line in a spreadsheet.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your CRM should hold every Menu Pricing customer without anyone typing them in twice.
Watch out
as a general precaution, a Zap that writes where its own trigger looks can set itself off again, so check what your later steps create.
2

Customer Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an existing customer is updated.”

Fires when an existing customer is edited in Menu Pricing. Use it to carry those edits to the tools that keep their own copy.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a spreadsheet or a mailing list should reflect the latest customer details held in Menu Pricing.
Watch out
the trigger requires an Email Address in its settings; check on the test what it changes in what the Zap receives.
Actions

The Menu Pricing action

Menu Pricing gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Create Customer

Action

In Zapier“Creates a customer in the system”

Adds a customer to Menu Pricing from data that arrived in another app. Eight fields are required: first name, last name, email, street address, city, state, zip code and equipment type.

When to use it
a request collected by a web form should become a Menu Pricing customer ready to receive a menu of options.
Watch out
without a search, the Zap cannot check for an existing customer first, and how Menu Pricing treats a repeat is not documented, so look at the customer list after your first runs.
When it breaks

When a Menu Pricing Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to Menu Pricing and no Menu Pricing-specific limit is documented. What breaks is what breaks on every app.

Three general limits are worth knowing. If you are stuck on one, our Zapier troubleshooting guide is the next stop.

  • Existing customers never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Customers created before that are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • A Zap that restarts itself

A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and burn through your tasks fast.
  • A big batch held back

When a trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import of customers for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back instead of running every item.

FAQ

Menu Pricing Zapier integration: your questions

01Is the Menu Pricing Zapier integration free?
Yes. Menu Pricing is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan, which gives you 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. Each Zap is limited to two steps there: one trigger and one action. Sending each new customer to your CRM fits. Adding a chat message, a second app or a filter turns the Zap into a multi-step one, which needs a paid plan or the free trial.
02How many tasks does a Menu Pricing Zap use?
One per successful action, each time the Zap runs. The trigger itself costs nothing. A Zap that copies each new customer to your CRM uses one task per customer; adding a chat message makes it two. A Zap on Customer Updated runs on every edit, so a customer edited several times costs a task each time. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. The bill follows the number of customers handled, not the speed of the triggers.
03Does Menu Pricing trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes. Both Customer Created and Customer Updated are instant triggers: Menu Pricing reports the event to Zapier itself, so the Zap starts right away. The plan interval grid does not apply to them, which means the free plan is as fast as the paid ones on these two triggers. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, an easy way to check. The trigger type is set by the app and cannot be changed from the editor.
04What does it take to connect Menu Pricing to Zapier?
A Menu Pricing account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. On Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search Menu Pricing, click Add connection, then sign in to Menu Pricing in the tab that opens and grant access. The connection is then reused by every step that uses Menu Pricing. You do this once per Menu Pricing account, not once per Zap.
05Why does Create Customer need so many fields?
Because Menu Pricing marks eight of them as required: first name, last name, email, street address, city, state, zip code and equipment type. A short contact form with only a name and an email cannot feed this action on its own. Either add the missing questions to the form, or pick a source that already holds the full address and the equipment type. Run the action test on a real entry before publishing.
06What if the Menu Pricing operation you want is not there?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Menu Pricing today. Menu Pricing's app page on Zapier shows the current list of triggers and actions, so check there first. The integration watches customers being created or updated, and creates customers. There is no search and no action to update or delete a customer, so those steps stay in Menu Pricing, while the Zap handles what surrounds them. Check that page before planning a Zap around a missing step.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Menu Pricing?
Weigh three criteria rather than a ranking. First, whether the tool offers a ready-made Menu Pricing connector: Zapier does, with 2 triggers and 1 action. Second, how fast events must arrive: on Zapier both triggers are instant, so the plan interval does not apply to them. Third, how many steps and tasks your flow needs: Zapier's free plan stops at two steps and bills each successful action. Run your own flow through those questions on each tool.
