Messaggio Zapier integrationAutomate Messaggio with Zapier.
The Messaggio Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 2 actions and 0 searches. Messaggio only receives: another app starts the Zap, then Messaggio sends an SMS or files a contact in a group. It runs on the free plan, as long as each Zap stays at two steps.

What the Messaggio Zapier integration actually does
Messaggio is a messaging platform businesses use to notify their customers over several channels. Zapier, an automation service, lets your other apps drive it. On Zapier, Messaggio only exposes actions: it always receives the order and never starts a Zap.
Two outcomes are on the table. A text that goes out without anyone typing it: Send SMS sends a message to a phone number each time another app hands it the details. A contact list that fills itself: Create Contact adds a phone number to one of your Messaggio contact groups, ready for later sends. Chain the two in one Zap and a single sign-up both lands in a group and gets a text, which makes a third, combined outcome.
Now the part the app page skips. Messaggio has no trigger and no search on Zapier. Nothing that happens inside Messaggio can start a Zap. No step can look a contact up first. And although Messaggio handles several channels, the only send action on Zapier is SMS.
Every Zap therefore starts in another tool (a form, a spreadsheet, a calendar) and ends in Messaggio. That also means its timing depends on that other app: an instant trigger passes the data straight away, a polling trigger waits for your plan's interval.
To judge Zapier itself, see our Zapier review. If you would rather hand the setup to someone, see our Zapier agency page.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven terms come back on every Zapier screen. Here they are once, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. With Messaggio, it always comes from another app, since Messaggio offers none.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes or sends something for you. Both Messaggio operations are actions.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's count is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a Messaggio Zap really costs
The trigger never costs a task, and neither does Zapier checking for new data. Only an action that goes through is counted.
- Free plan100 tasks per month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap
- Messaggio on the free planYes, it is not kept for paid plans
- BilledEach successful Messaggio action, one task each
- Never billedThe trigger, the checks, a failed action
Each SMS sent through Send SMS is one task, and so is each contact filed. A Zap that files the contact and then texts them counts two, while a failed action is not counted. Messaggio is not kept for paid plans, so the free plan works as long as you stay at one trigger and one action. The grid below applies to the polling trigger of the app that starts your Zap, never to an instant one. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete, so look at your task count after the first runs.
Connect your Messaggio account in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Messaggio account linked once, then reused by every step that uses Messaggio.
- 02
Pick Messaggio
Search for Messaggio by name in the dialog that opens, select it in the list, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens where Messaggio asks you to sign in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Messaggio in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Messaggio Zap
GoalEach new form response files the person in a Messaggio contact group, then sends them an SMS.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap and pick your form tool and its new-response event as the trigger. Messaggio offers no trigger, so the Zap has to start there.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent responses from your connected account. Pick a real one so the mapping uses real values.
- 03
File the contact
Add a step, pick Messaggio and
Create Contact. Choose the Contact Group and map the phone number from the form response. - 04
Send the SMS
Add
Send SMS, fill in the Sender and your Messaggio-Login, then map the recipient's phone number and write the message text. - 05
Test, then publish
Test each Messaggio step and read what came back before going further. Then publish. With two actions this is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.
The 2 Messaggio actions
Messaggio gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Contact
ActionIn Zapier“Create contact in group”
Adds a phone number to one of your Messaggio contact groups, so it is there for your next sends.
Send SMS
ActionIn Zapier“Send SMS message”
Sends an SMS message to a recipient's phone number, under the sender name you pick.
When a Messaggio Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Messaggio and lists no rate limit for it.
What can go wrong comes from how Zaps work and from the details Send SMS needs. These four cases are the ones to know before you switch a Zap on. If yours already fails, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Login details not at hand
Send SMS requires a Sender and a Messaggio-Login from your personal cabinet. Note both before you start building the Zap.No backlog
A Zap only picks up what happens after you publish it. Contacts already sitting in your source app never reach Messaggio unless you move them separately.A Zap that restarts itself
As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and burn through tasks fast.Flood protection
If the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.
