Overview

What the Mighty Networks Zapier integration actually does

It links your Mighty Networks community to Zapier, in both directions. An automation there is called a Zap: one trigger (the event that starts it), then one or more actions (what happens next). Mighty Networks offers both: its 7 triggers report what members do, and its 11 actions let other apps invite, add, tag or post inside your Network.

Three results worth building. Invites that send themselves: when someone signs up in another tool, Invite Members sends them an invite to your Network or a Space, with your own message. A member log that stays current: Member Activity fires when someone joins, asks to join, leaves, buys or cancels a plan, or edits their profile, and each event can land in a spreadsheet. Events that appear without retyping: Schedule Event creates an event in a Space from data another app already holds.

What Zapier does not do for Mighty Networks: look anything up. The integration has no search, so a Zap cannot find an existing member or post before acting on it. Member actions work from email addresses instead, which means the address has to come from the trigger or an earlier step. Zapier also cannot edit an article or event once created; the actions only create, add, remove or tag.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Eight words you will see in the editor. Once they are clear, the notes below read fast.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap, such as a member joining your Network or someone RSVPing to an event.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like inviting a member.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. The number on your plan counts those.
Instant vs polling trigger
An instant trigger is reported by the app itself. A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. All seven Mighty Networks triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Mighty Networks account, linked to Zapier once and then reused by every step that uses the app.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Mighty Networks Zap really costs

Short version: the triggers are free, the actions are not. A member joining costs nothing until a Zap does something with it.

  • Trigger cost0 tasks
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan

Each action that succeeds counts as one task, so a Zap that invites a member and then tags them costs two. An action that fails is not counted. Mighty Networks is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and as many Zaps as you like, each limited to one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan. The polling grid below is Zapier's official one; it does not apply to the Mighty Networks triggers, which are all instant.

Connect

Connect Mighty Networks to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. You need an account on Mighty Networks, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Mighty Networks

Type Mighty Networks in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can sign in with the account that runs your community.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Sign in to Mighty Networks in that tab and allow Zapier to reach the account. Every trigger and action of the app then reuses this connection without asking again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: tag every member who joins

GoalEach member who joins your Network gets the tag you choose, so newcomers form their own segment from day one without anyone tagging by hand.

  1. 01

Start a Zap and pick the trigger

Create a new Zap, choose Mighty Networks as the app, then Member Activity as the event. Select the connection you set up a moment ago.

  2. 02

    Choose the activity to watch

The Member Activity field is required. Pick the join event, since this Zap only cares about newcomers; check in the test which choices the field offers.

  3. 03

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account, so you map the next step on a real member rather than on guesses.

  4. 04

Add a filter if you need one

A filter is set in three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, the value. It makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan. On the free plan, skip it.

  5. 05

Add Manage Tags, test and publish

Choose Manage Tags, set the Action Type to add, pick the Tag and map the member's email from the trigger, after checking in the test that it carries one. Test the step, then click Publish. Members who joined earlier are left out.

Triggers

The 7 Mighty Networks triggers

7 events start a Zap when something happens in Mighty Networks, and 7 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Ambassador Level-Up

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member reaches a new Ambassador Level.”

Starts a Zap when a member climbs to a new Ambassador Level in your Network. It is the moment to thank the people who bring others in, while their effort is still fresh.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you want each level-up posted in your team chat so someone can send a personal thank-you.
2

Table of Contents Progress Update

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member's Table of Contents progress changes, 1 hour after progress is made.”

Follows a member's progress through your Table of Contents. Each change in that progress starts the Zap, which gives you a progress record outside the platform, in whatever app comes next.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you keep a progress sheet per member and want it updated without exporting anything.
Watch out
Mighty Networks only reports the progress change one hour after the member makes it.
3

Manage Badge

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Badge is added or removed.”

Runs when a Badge is given to a member or taken away. Whatever a badge means in your community, this trigger keeps it visible in your other tools.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
a badge should add the member to a dedicated list in your email tool.
Watch out
the trigger requires an Action Type, so decide whether the Zap follows additions or removals.
4

Manage Tag

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a Tag is added or removed.”

Fires when a Tag is added to a member or removed. Tags are the quiet way to segment a community, and this trigger lets those segments travel to other apps.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
tagged members should appear in a sheet that another team member works from.
Watch out
an Action Type is mandatory here too, which splits additions and removals; check in the test which choices it offers before you count on one Zap for both.
5

Member Activity

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member joins, requests to join, leaves your Network or Space; purchases or cancels a plan; or updates their profile.”

The broadest trigger of the set: it covers a member who joins, asks to join or leaves your Network or a Space, buys or cancels a plan, or updates their profile.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you want one row per join or departure in a member log the whole team reads.
Watch out
you must pick which Member Activity to watch; check in the editor which events that field lets one Zap follow.
6

New Content

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when someone adds a Quick Post, Article, Event, Poll, or Question.”

Starts when someone adds a Quick Post, an Article, an Event, a Poll or a Question to the community. It turns member contributions into something your other tools can see.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
the team wants every new article flagged in its chat so it gets read early.
Watch out
the Content Type is required, so pick the kind of content first and check in the test what comes back.
7

RSVPed to an Event

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a member RSVPs to an Event.”

Runs each time a member RSVPs to one of your Events. It is the cleanest way to build an attendee list somewhere other than the platform itself.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
you want a sheet of who is coming that updates itself, ready to share with the rest of the team.
Watch out
RSVPs given before the Zap was published are not sent, so start it before you announce the event.
Actions

The 11 Mighty Networks actions

Mighty Networks gives you 11 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Manage Badges

Action

In Zapier“Add or remove Badges from a member.”

Gives a member one or more Badges, or takes them away.

When to use it
finishing a program tracked in another app should earn a visible badge in the community.
Watch out
you choose the Action Type and the Badge, then pass the member emails as a list separated by semicolons.
2

Plan Action

Action

In Zapier“Invite or remove members from a plan.”

Invites members to a plan, or removes them from one, depending on the Action Type you set.

When to use it
access to a paid tier should follow what happens in another tool.
Watch out
the Action Type is required, so one step either invites or removes; test it on one member first.
3

Create Article

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new Article.”

Publishes a new Article in a Space you choose, from text another app holds.

When to use it
a text approved in another app should become an article for members.
Watch out
the title takes plain text only, while the body accepts HTML and formats plain text on its own.
4

Schedule Event

Action

In Zapier“Schedules a new Event.”

Creates an Event in a Space, with type, title, start and end.

When to use it
events planned in another app should show up for members without retyping.
Watch out
the start time must follow the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ssZ. RSVPs are on by default, while posting to the activity feed is off unless you switch it on.
5

Create Poll or Question

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new Multiple Choice Poll, Percentage Poll, Hot Cold Poll, or Question.”

Opens a Multiple Choice Poll, a Percentage Poll, a Hot Cold Poll or a Question in a Space.

When to use it
you draft questions to members in a sheet and want them posted from there.
Watch out
Poll Type and Space are both required, so pick them before mapping the text.
6

Create Quick Post

Action

In Zapier“Creates a new Quick Post.”

Drops a short Quick Post into a Space, the lightest kind of content the platform has.

When to use it
something published in another app should be announced to the community.
Watch out
the post content does not support HTML, and any HTML you send is stripped.
7

Remove Member

Action

In Zapier“Remove an existing member from your Network or a Space.”

Removes an existing member from your Network or from a Space.

When to use it
a status change recorded in another app should end community access too.
Watch out
an email that matches no member is ignored, so check the result in the test.
8

Add to Network (Limited Members Only)

Action

In Zapier“Adds limited members to the Network immediately, skipping the invite flow.”

Adds limited members to the Network straight away, without going through the invite flow.

When to use it
you already vetted the person elsewhere and do not want them to wait on an invite email.
Watch out
the email field takes a list separated by semicolons, and this action is meant for limited members only.
9

Add to Space(s) (Full Members Only)

Action

In Zapier“Adds full members to Space(s) immediately, skipping the invite flow.”

Puts full members into one or more Spaces at once, skipping the invite step.

When to use it
people approved in another app should land in the matching Space.
Watch out
it only works for full members, and both the Spaces and the semicolon-separated emails are required.
10

Invite Members

Action

In Zapier“Sends invites to join your Network or a Space.”

Sends invitations to join your Network or a Space, with a custom message.

When to use it
people who sign up through a form elsewhere should receive an invite they can accept themselves.
Watch out
emails of people already in the Network are ignored, and the invite message accepts no HTML.
11

Manage Tags

Action

In Zapier“Add or remove Tags from a member.”

Adds Tags to a member or removes them, to keep segments in sync with what other apps know.

When to use it
a member who attends an event elsewhere should get the matching tag.
Watch out
Action Type, Tag and email addresses are all required, the emails separated by semicolons.
When it breaks

When a Mighty Networks Zap breaks

The source lists no rate limit for Mighty Networks. What breaks is mostly field format, plus Zapier's own limits.

Zapier attaches one help article to the app, How to get started with Mighty Networks on Zapier. For the rest, read these cases before you publish and keep our Zapier troubleshooting guide nearby.

  • Several emails in one field

Member actions take email addresses as one list separated by semicolons. A comma-separated list from another app has to be reshaped first.
  • HTML disappears from quick posts

Quick post content does not support HTML; anything you send in HTML is stripped. Titles of articles and events take plain text only.
  • An event with a badly formatted date

Schedule Event wants its start time in the format YYYY-MM-DDTHH:mm:ssZ. A date in another shape from the trigger needs converting first.
  • Past members are not picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Members who joined earlier stay out; moving them is a separate job.
  • A bulk import can be held back

When a trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after an import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back.
  • A Zap that feeds its own trigger

A Zap that writes into the very place its trigger watches can set itself off again and again and burn tasks fast. Check that before you publish.

FAQ

Mighty Networks Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Mighty Networks Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on Zapier's free plan, because Mighty Networks is not a premium app. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. That covers a Zap like one form entry into one invite. If you want to invite a member and tag them in the same Zap, or add a filter, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Mighty Networks Zap use?
Each Mighty Networks action that completes counts as one task, and the triggers count for nothing. A Zap that sends an invite costs one task per new person; a Zap that invites, then tags, then adds a badge costs three. An action that fails is not counted. Since Member Activity can fire on many events in a busy community, multiply the expected events by the number of actions before you choose a plan.
03Do Mighty Networks triggers fire in real time?
Yes, all seven are instant: Mighty Networks tells Zapier the moment something happens, and the Zap starts right away whatever your plan, so the polling interval does not apply. One nuance from the app itself: Table of Contents Progress Update is only sent one hour after the member's progress. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt, which confirms the type. A free account gets the same speed here as an Enterprise one.
04What do you need to connect Mighty Networks to Zapier?
An account on Mighty Networks, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. In Zapier, open the Apps page, click + Add connection, search for Mighty Networks, click Add connection, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. For the content actions, make sure your Network already has at least one Space, since they all require one. Without one, those steps have nothing to offer.
05Why does Mighty Networks ignore some of the emails sent by Zapier?
Because two actions skip addresses on purpose. Invite Members ignores emails of people who are already in your Network, and Remove Member ignores an email that matches no existing member. Both behaviors are written into the fields of those actions. On top of that, member actions expect several addresses as one list separated by semicolons. Check the test result of the action to see what was actually applied. Run one member through first.
06What if the Mighty Networks action you need is missing?
Open the Mighty Networks page on Zapier: it shows the current list of triggers and actions, and the editor offers nothing beyond it. Today there is no search and no edit action, so a Zap cannot update an existing post or find a member by name. When something is missing, look for a nearby action, for example Plan Action instead of a direct access change, and test it on one member before relying on it.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Mighty Networks?
Decide on criteria, not on a ranking. Presence first: check that the tool you pick lists Mighty Networks. Then coverage: on Zapier you get 7 instant triggers and 11 actions, but no search, so a Zap cannot look a member up before acting. Then plan: tagging each new member is a two-step Zap that fits the free plan; tagging and inviting in one Zap needs a paid one. Then volume, since every successful action is a task. The polling interval is not a criterion here: every trigger is instant.
