What the Mojo Zapier integration actually does
Mojo is a real estate prospecting tool that combines a CRM, a power dialer and a lead service. The Zapier integration connects it to the rest of your tools: something happens to a contact, a note or an activity in Mojo, and Zapier acts in another app, or another app feeds new contacts and activities into Mojo.
Leads from anywhere, straight into your dialer. Create Contact in Calling List puts a contact from a form or an ad tool into the Mojo list you call from, with no manual import.
Follow-ups that schedule themselves. New Contact or New Contact in Group can start a Zap that books a Create Activity on the Mojo calendar, so every fresh lead comes with a reminder to call back.
Clean data in your other tools. Contact Number Marked as "Bad Number" tells your spreadsheet or mailing tool which numbers no longer work, and Contact Updated keeps a copy of each contact in step.
What Zapier does not do with Mojo: there is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up a contact by name or number. Update Contact therefore needs a contact ID that an earlier step carried, a trap covered below. There is also no action to delete a contact or a note.
All 8 triggers are instant, which is rare: a free plan reacts as fast as a paid one here. If you want help designing the whole flow, see our Zapier agency page.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven terms carry this page. Each one in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for that event on your behalf.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, in Mojo or elsewhere.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's quota is a count of those.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself, calling Zapier the moment the event happens. All 8 Mojo triggers are instant.
- Polling trigger
- The other kind: Zapier asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps what it has not seen. Mojo has none on Zapier.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
What a Mojo Zap costs
Zapier bills tasks, and only actions that succeed are tasks. A Mojo trigger never costs anything, however busy your CRM gets.
- TriggerNever counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, Zaps of 2 steps
- Premium appNo, works on the free plan
A Zap that books a follow-up activity for each new contact uses one task per contact; add a second action and that contact costs two. Failed actions are not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action turns it into a multi-step Zap (anything beyond one trigger and one action), which needs a paid plan. Mojo is not a premium app. The grid below shows how often Zapier checks polling triggers on each plan; it does not apply to Mojo, whose 8 triggers are all instant.
Connect your Mojo account to Zapier
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Mojo account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that uses Mojo.
- 02
Pick Mojo
Search for Mojo in the dialog, select it in the list of results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens where you sign in to your Mojo account.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to Mojo in that tab and let Zapier reach the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: email new group members
GoalWhen a contact is added to a chosen Mojo group, Zapier sends an email, but only if the contact matches a rule you set.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap, pick Mojo as the app that starts it and New Contact in Group as the event, then select your Mojo connection.
- 02
Choose the group
Select the Mojo group to watch. This field is required, and only contacts added to that particular group will start the Zap.
- 03
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map the email on a real contact.
- 04
Add the filter
Add a Filter step from the plus icon and set the field, the rule and the value. The filter makes this a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.
- 05
Add the email
Add your email tool as the action and map the contact's fields from the trigger into the message. Test it once and read what came back.
- 06
Publish
Publish the Zap to switch it on. The trigger is instant, so each new group member who passes the filter gets the email right away, whatever your plan.
Mojo triggers on Zapier
8 events start a Zap when something happens in Mojo, and 8 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Contact in Group
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a contact is added to a group in Mojo (contact sync is not available for contacts within a previous integration).”
Starts a Zap each time a contact joins the Mojo group you pick. Groups sort contacts inside Mojo, so this is the trigger to use when one segment, not the whole database, matters.
New Contact
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new contact is created (through the create contact form in Data & Dialer section).”
Reacts when someone creates a new contact in Mojo. It is the broad starting point for passing fresh leads to another tool or scheduling the first follow-up.
Contact Number Marked as "Bad Number"
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a contact number is marked as "Bad Number" in Mojo.”
Fires when a phone number on a contact gets flagged as a bad number. A dead line is useful information for every other tool that holds that contact.
Send Button Clicked
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers via the Send to Zapier button in Actions dropdown of the contact screen. Used for sending Mojo Neighborhood Search and Mojo Skip Traced data.”
Runs only when you decide: from the contact screen, open the Actions dropdown and click Send to Zapier. Zapier describes it as the route for Mojo Neighborhood Search and Mojo Skip Traced data.
Contact Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a contact is updated. Specifically when a basic field (like name, address, etc), misc field (Listing Status, etc), note or information field (Last Call Result, etc) is changed in Mojo.”
Reacts when a contact changes in Mojo, whether a basic detail such as a name or an address, a misc field such as listing status, a note, or an information field such as the last call result.
New Activity
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new activity is created.”
Fires each time a new activity is created in Mojo. Activities are what sit on your Mojo calendar, so this is how your appointments and to-dos leave the CRM.
New Note
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new note is created in Mojo (through the contact screen only).”
Picks up each note added to a contact. Notes hold the detail from a call, so this is the way to share what was said with people who never open Mojo.
Note Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a note is updated in Mojo.”
Reacts when an existing note in Mojo is edited. Pair it with New Note when the latest version of what was said matters as much as the first draft.
Mojo actions on Zapier
Mojo gives you 4 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Contact in Calling List
ActionIn Zapier“Create Contact in Mojo and assign to calling list.”
Creates a contact in Mojo and drops it straight into the calling list you choose, ready for the dialer.
Create Contact in Group
ActionIn Zapier“Create a contact in Mojo and assign to one or more groups.”
Adds a new contact to Mojo and assigns it to one or more groups at once, so it lands in the right segment from the start.
Create Activity
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a calendar activity in Mojo.”
Puts a new activity on the Mojo calendar, built from data an earlier step carried.
Update Contact
ActionIn Zapier“Update Contact in Mojo. A Contact_ID value is necessary. It can be retrieved from a New Contact, New Contact in Group or Contact Updated trigger or from the Create Contact in Group Action.”
Changes the details of an existing Mojo contact, using its contact ID to find the right record.
When a Mojo Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article and no app-specific limit to Mojo. What breaks comes from the way Zapier works in general, and the notes above add the field traps.
Three general cases to know before you switch anything on. If a Zap still misbehaves, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the next stop.
Your existing contacts are not sent
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Contacts, notes and activities already in Mojo stay put; moving that backlog is a separate job.A Zap can set itself off again
A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself over and over, and burn through your task count fast.A bulk import can be held back
When a trigger suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back.
