Morgen Zapier integrationAutomate Morgen with Zapier.
Morgen Zapier integration: 2 triggers, 1 action and 1 search move your Morgen tasks in and out of your other tools. Both triggers are instant, the search can create the task it does not find, and the app runs on the free plan within its two-step limit.

What the Morgen Zapier integration does for you
The Morgen Zapier integration links your Morgen account to Zapier, so the tasks you manage in Morgen can start work elsewhere, and events in other tools can become Morgen tasks. Morgen presents itself as an all-in-one app for managing your time; on Zapier, everything it exposes is about tasks.
A finished task that tells the team. Task Completed or Updated starts the Zap when a task changes or is marked as done in Morgen. The next step can post a message where the people waiting on it will see it.
A task list fed from outside. Create a Task adds a task to Morgen from an event in another app, with its title and, if you want, the task list it belongs to. A request that lands elsewhere ends up in your planning without retyping.
No duplicate for the same request. Find a Task looks for a task by its exact title before anything else happens, and its find-or-create version adds the task only when nothing matches.
What Zapier does not do here: there is no action to delete a task, and nothing about calendar events, only tasks. Nothing that existed before the Zap was switched on gets picked up either. Both triggers are instant, so the interval of your plan never slows them down. If you are still weighing up automation tools, see our n8n vs Zapier guide.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight words come back all over this page. Here they are once, in ordinary English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a new task in Morgen. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like creating a Morgen task.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action that completes successfully. Not to be confused with a Morgen task, which is your to-do item.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens. Both Morgen triggers are instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can use what it found.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
What a Morgen Zap really costs
Zapier bills tasks, and a Zapier task is one action that succeeds, not a Morgen to-do. The trigger never costs anything, and an action that fails is not counted. A Zap with three actions uses three times what a one-action Zap uses.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps of two steps
- Premium appNo, Morgen works on every plan
- Trigger costNever counted as a task
- Filter or searchMakes the Zap multi-step, paid plan
Morgen is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps. A filter, a second action or Find a Task makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below concerns polling triggers only: it does not apply to the two instant triggers of Morgen. Waiting for new Morgen tasks costs nothing either, and a few apps and a few actions take more than one task when they complete.
Connect Morgen to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your Morgen account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Morgen step you add.
- 02
Pick Morgen
Search for Morgen in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can sign in to your Morgen account and finish the link there.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Morgen in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Morgen Zap
GoalPost a message in your team chat when a Morgen task is updated or marked as done, but only for the tasks that match a rule you set.
- 01
Create the Zap and pick the trigger
Create a new Zap, choose Morgen as the app that starts it and Task Completed or Updated as the event. Select your Morgen connection, or add it if this is the first time.
- 02
Test on a real task
Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you set up the next steps on a real task rather than an empty one.
- 03
Add the filter
Add a Filter step from the plus icon and fill its three boxes: the field to look at, the rule, and the value to compare with. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the message
Add the action of your team chat that sends a message, and place the values of the task you care about in the text. Pick a text rule for text and a number rule for numbers in the filter.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each step once and read what came back before going further. When the message lands as expected, click Publish to switch the Zap on.
Morgen triggers
2 events start a Zap when something happens in Morgen, and 2 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
Task Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new task is created in Morgen.”
Starts the Zap each time a new task appears in Morgen. The task becomes the starting point for whatever should follow: a row in a tracking sheet, a card on a project board, a note to someone else.
Task Completed or Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a task is updated or marked as done in Morgen.”
Fires when a Morgen task is updated or marked as done, as its name says. The steps after it can then follow that task outside Morgen.
Morgen actions
Morgen gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create a Task
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a task in Morgen, optionally assigning it to a task list.”
Adds a task to Morgen from an event in another app, and can put it in a task list of your choice. The task shows up in your planning without being typed twice.
Morgen searches
1 search step looks for data that already exists in Morgen, so a later step can use it.
A search step looks up something that already exists in Morgen and hands it to the steps after it. In the editor, searches sit at the bottom of the Action event list, under SEARCH. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not the one you expected.
Find a Task
SearchFind or createIn Zapier“Find a Task in Morgen, optionally creating one if not found”
Looks for a Morgen task by its title and passes it to the next steps. The editor also lists Find or Create a Task: it is this same search with the creation box ticked, not a separate operation.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there, and the steps that depend on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet?Ticking this box turns the search into a find-or-create: the setting above disappears and the step asks for the fields needed to create the missing item.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When a Morgen Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to Morgen and documents no limit of its own for this app. What breaks is what breaks on every Zap, plus the case sensitivity of the search.
Four cases follow, three general limits and one tied to Find a Task, each on its own card. For help with a Zap that misbehaves, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Older tasks are ignored
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Tasks created or completed before that are never picked up, and moving them is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off again
A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your task count fast. Keep that general precaution in mind.A sudden batch held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import for instance, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back instead of firing them all.A title with other capitals
The Task Title of Find a Task is case sensitive. Map the title from a step that writes it exactly as Morgen stores it, and check at test that the search returns a task.
