Namsor Zapier integrationAutomate Namsor with Zapier.

The Namsor Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers and 14 actions, with no search step. Namsor never starts a Zap on its own: another app does, and Namsor analyses the names it receives. Here is what each action returns, what it costs and where it trips up.

Overview

What the Namsor Zapier integration actually does

Namsor analyses personal names and estimates what they most likely say about a person: gender, country of residence, country of origin, ethnicity, and a few more. On Zapier it works as a step in the middle of a Zap: another app sends a name, Namsor returns its estimate, and the next step uses it.

Three results come back often. Clean name fields: Split Full Name cuts a name typed in one box into a first and a last name, so your CRM gets both parts right. Leads sent to the right market: Get Country From Full Name estimates where a person lives when your form never asked, which helps route each lead by language. Lists sorted before they are used: Name Type Recognition tells a person from a brand or a place, so company names stop landing in your list of first names.

Now what Zapier does not do with Namsor. There is no trigger: Namsor cannot start a Zap, so every Namsor Zap begins with a trigger from another app. There is no search step either. Each answer is an estimate drawn from the name alone, never a fact the person declared, and each successful action counts as a task, however short the answer.

Vocabulary

Zapier words you will meet on this page

Eight terms, one line each. They come back in every block below.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Namsor has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started. Every Namsor operation is an action: it takes a name and returns an estimate.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling or instant trigger
Zapier either checks an app on a timer for new items, or the app reports the event itself. It depends on the trigger app.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Connection
Your Namsor account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Namsor step of every Zap you build.
Cost

What a Namsor Zap really costs

Zapier bills tasks. Every Namsor analysis that succeeds is an action, so it counts as one task.

  • Tasks on the free plan100 per month
  • Zaps on the free planUnlimited, two steps each
  • Cost of one analysis1 task when it succeeds
  • Premium appNo, free plan works

The trigger from your other app costs nothing. Each action that goes through counts once, so a Zap that splits a name, then estimates a country, then writes a row uses three tasks. An action that fails is not counted. Namsor is not a premium app and works on the free plan, but that plan stops at two-step Zaps: one trigger and one Namsor action, nothing after it. Writing the result somewhere, or adding a filter, makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to the trigger app if its trigger is a polling one; Namsor itself has no trigger.

Connect

Connect Namsor to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. You need an account on Namsor, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick Namsor

Type Namsor in the search box of the dialog, select it in the results, then click Add connection. A new browser tab opens so you can sign in to Namsor itself.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to Namsor in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. The connection is saved once and then offered to every Namsor step you add later.

First Zap

Your first Namsor Zap: split every name from your form into two columns

GoalEach new form submission goes through Split Full Name, and the first and last names land in separate columns of your spreadsheet.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and pick your form tool as the app that starts it, with its new submission event. Test it so a real submission comes back to map from.

  2. 02

    Add Namsor

Add Namsor with Split Full Name and select your Namsor connection. Map the name field of the form into Full name, the one required field.

  3. 03

    Test the split

Run the Namsor step once and read what came back. Note which fields hold the first and the last name before you go further.

  4. 04

    Write the row

Add your spreadsheet as a third step and map the two parts into their columns. Three steps make this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Publish

Test the last step, check the new row in your spreadsheet, then click Publish to switch the Zap on for every new submission.

Actions

Namsor actions on Zapier

Namsor gives you 14 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Get Indian Caste Group From Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide a single field with the full name (first & last name) to identify the person's most likely Indian caste group. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/indian-name/”

Estimates the most likely Indian caste group for a complete name, with the state or union territory as local context.

When to use it
when research on names from India needs this grouping and the region of each person is known.
Watch out
both Full Name and the Indian state or Union territory code (ISO 3166-2:IN) are required.
2

Get Indian Caste Group From First/Last Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide separate fields for first and/or last name to identify the person's most likely Indian caste group. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/indian-name/”

Here the caste-group estimate comes from a first name and a last name entered separately.

When to use it
when your list stores the two parts of each name apart and carries the Indian region as well.
Watch out
the Indian state or Union territory code is required, in the ISO 3166-2:IN format.
3

Get Country From Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide a single field with the full name (first & last name) to identify the country of residence. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-country-of-residence/.”

Estimates the country where a person most likely lives, from a complete name typed in one field.

When to use it
when incoming leads should be routed by market or language and your form does not ask for a country.
Watch out
Full Name is required, and the answer is a residence estimate, not an address check.
4

Get Country From First/Last Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide separate fields for first and/or last name to identify the country of residence. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-country-of-residence/.”

Gives the same country-of-residence estimate, this time from a first name and a last name entered separately.

When to use it
when your CRM keeps the two parts of a name apart and you want to skip the splitting step.
Watch out
no field is marked required, so test with real names to see what comes back when one is empty.
5

Get Ethnicity From Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide a single field with the full name (first & last name) to identify the ethnicity. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-ethnicity/ .”

Infers the most likely ethnicity linked to a complete name typed in a single field.

When to use it
when a study of your list needs an ethnicity estimate that no form field ever collected.
Watch out
Full Name is required, and the result is an estimate drawn from the name alone.
6

Get Ethnicity From First/Last Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide separate fields for first and/or last name to identify the ethnicity. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-ethnicity/ .”

Produces the same ethnicity estimate from separate first and last name fields.

When to use it
when your records already hold the surname in its own field and you want the estimate from there.
Watch out
Last Name is required, and adding the first name gives Namsor more to work with.
7

Get Gender From a Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide a single field with the full name (first name & last name) to identify gender.”

Reads a complete name from a single field and returns the gender Namsor considers most likely for it.

When to use it
when greetings in an email tool depend on a value your form never asked for, and you prefer an estimate to a blank.
Watch out
Full name is required, and the result is a probability drawn from the name, not something the person declared.
8

Get Gender From First/Last Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide separate fields for first name and optional last name to identify the gender.”

Same estimate as the full-name version, but fed by separate boxes: the first name, plus the last name if you have it.

When to use it
when your source already stores first and last names in two fields, which spares you a Split Full Name step.
Watch out
First Name is required; the last name stays optional on this one.
9

Get Origin From Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide a single field with the full name (first & last name) to identify the country of origin. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-origin/.”

Returns the country of origin Namsor associates with a complete name, which is a different question from where the person lives.

When to use it
when a study of your audience needs the likely origin of names rather than their current country.
Watch out
Full Name is required; do not confuse this action with the country-of-residence one.
10

Get Origin From First/Last Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide separate fields for first and/or last name to identify the country of origin. Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-origin/.”

From a first name and a last name given in two separate fields, this one estimates the country of origin.

When to use it
when the data is already split and you want the origin estimate without rebuilding the full name.
Watch out
no field is marked required here, so check at test how the result changes with a missing part.
11

Get U.S. Race Ethnicity From Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide a single field with the full name (first & last name) to identify the US race ethnicity (based on the U.S. census taxonomy). Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-us-race-ethnicity/ .”

Classifies a complete name along the categories of the U.S. census, and returns the most likely one.

When to use it
when a report has to follow the U.S. census groupings rather than a worldwide list of ethnicities.
Watch out
Full Name is required, and the categories are those of the U.S. census, not a global taxonomy.
12

Get U.S. Race Ethnicity From First/Last Name

Action

In Zapier“Provide separate fields for first and/or last name to identify the US race ethnicity (based on the U.S. census taxonomy). Learn more at https://namsor.app/features/name-us-race-ethnicity/ .”

Runs the U.S. census classification on a first name and a last name entered in two fields.

When to use it
when the names already sit in separate columns of the sheet that feeds your report.
Watch out
no field is marked required on this variant, so test with complete names first.
13

Split Full Name

Action

In Zapier“Accurately separates a full name into its first name and last name components.”

Takes a full name typed in one box and returns it cut into a first name and a last name, so each part can go to its own field in the next step.

When to use it
when a form collects a single name field but your CRM or spreadsheet keeps first and last names apart.
Watch out
Full name is required; check at test which fields come back before you map them.
14

Name Type Recognition

Action

In Zapier“Analyse proper names and infer if they are personal names (anthroponym), brand names, geographic names (toponym) or alias (pseudonym)”

Looks at a proper noun and tells you what kind of name it probably is: a person, a brand, a place, or an alias.

When to use it
when a sign-up list mixes people with company or brand names and you want to sort them before anything else runs.
Watch out
Proper noun is the one required field, and the answer is an inference from the word itself, never a certainty.
When it breaks

When a Namsor Zap breaks

Zapier lists no limit of its own for Namsor. The cases below are the general ones that apply to any Zap with a Namsor step.

If a Zap stops doing what you expect, check these three cases first. For anything else, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • No catch-up on old names

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Names already in your CRM or sheet are never analysed; running them through Namsor is a separate job.
  • A Zap that feeds itself

If the last step writes into the very place the trigger watches, the Zap can set itself off again and again, and every loop spends Namsor tasks.
  • Flood protection on big batches

After a bulk import into the trigger app, a trigger that suddenly returns a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.

FAQ

Namsor Zapier integration: your questions

01Is the Namsor Zapier integration free?
Yes, Namsor is not a premium app, so it works on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives you 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. With Namsor, that means a trigger from another app followed by one Namsor analysis. Once you want to write the result somewhere, or add a filter, the Zap becomes multi-step and needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Namsor Zap use?
One task per Namsor action that succeeds, plus one for every other action in the Zap. The trigger from your other app costs nothing. A Zap that estimates a gender and writes a row uses two tasks per run; adding a Split Full Name step before it makes three. An action that fails is not counted. On a large list, that adds up fast, so count the steps before you switch the Zap on.
03Does Namsor work in real time on Zapier?
Namsor has no trigger, so the timing depends entirely on the trigger app that starts the Zap. If that trigger is instant, the app reports the event to Zapier straight away and the Namsor step runs right after. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks it on a timer: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Each trigger app page says which kind it is.
04What does it take to connect Namsor to Zapier?
An account on Namsor, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. You add the connection from the Apps page of Zapier, sign in to Namsor in the tab that opens and grant access. Then check the required fields: most actions want a Full Name, and the caste actions also want an Indian state or Union territory code. A test run then shows what each action returns.
05Full name or first and last name: which Namsor action to pick?
Pick the one that matches how your data is stored. Most analyses come in two versions: one reads a complete name from a single field, the other reads a first and a last name from separate fields. If your form has one name box, use the full-name version. If your CRM already splits names, use the first/last version and skip Split Full Name, which saves a task on every run.
06What if the Namsor operation you need is not on Zapier?
Then the integration cannot do it today, whatever Zap you build. The Namsor page on Zapier shows the current list of actions, so check it before you plan the workflow. Sometimes two existing actions cover the gap: Split Full Name followed by a first/last version gives you a result even when the source only has a single name field. Each extra action makes the Zap multi-step. The trigger always comes from another app.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Namsor?
Decide on criteria, not on a winner. Coverage first: Namsor has 14 actions on Zapier, so check whether the other tool offers the analyses you need. Volume next: Zapier bills each successful action as a task, so a Zap that analyses every new record spends one task per record for each Namsor step. Then timing: Namsor has no trigger, so speed depends on the trigger app and, for polling triggers, on the interval of your plan. Test both before you commit.
