What the MPOWR Envision Zapier integration does for you
MPOWR Envision is where a company writes down its values and goals, shares them, and follows the KPIs that measure progress toward them. Through Zapier it works both ways: three instant triggers report new action items, edits and published progress notes, and five actions write action items, KPI data points and notes back into a plan.
Three results the eight operations make possible. KPIs that update themselves: a new row in your spreadsheet becomes a value on a KPI through Add KPI Data Point, and Update KPI Data Point corrects one that was wrong. Action items your team actually sees: New Action Item Is Created posts each new item to your team chat, and Existing Tactic/Action Item Is Updated reports every edit. A progress trail: Progress Note Is Published copies each note to a shared document, while Add Progress Note lets another tool write one.
Now what Zapier does not do here. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up an action item, a KPI or a plan by name before working on it. There is no trigger on KPIs: a data point added in MPOWR Envision does not start a Zap. And no action deletes anything. Every action also asks you to pick a plan in its Select Plan field.
All three triggers are instant, so the plan interval never slows them down. For a wider look at the tool itself, see our Zapier review.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven terms carry the rest of this page.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, here an action item or a progress note.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, such as a KPI data point.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
MPOWR Envision is not a premium app, so it runs from the free plan up.
- TriggersFree, never counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Filter or second actionMulti-step Zap, paid plan
Triggers never cost a task: a new action item reaching Zapier is free. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, so one Add KPI Data Point is one task, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. Add a filter or a second action, for example a progress note after a KPI update, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below is Zapier's polling interval by plan; it does not apply to the three instant triggers of MPOWR Envision.
Connect your MPOWR Envision account
- 01
Open the Apps page
In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your MPOWR Envision account linked once, then reused by every trigger and every action that needs it.
- 02
Pick MPOWR Envision
Search MPOWR Envision by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can sign in to your MPOWR Envision account.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to MPOWR Envision in that tab and allow Zapier into the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: copy each progress note to a shared document
GoalEach progress note published in MPOWR Envision goes through a filter, then is added to a shared document your team reads.
- 01
Build: set the trigger
Create a Zap, pick MPOWR Envision as the starting app and
Progress Note Is Publishedas the event, then select your MPOWR Envision connection. - 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real progress note.
- 03
Add a filter (paid plan)
Click the plus icon, choose Filter and fill the three boxes: field, rule, value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the document step
Pick your document tool and the action that adds text, then map the note's details into its fields. Run the test and read what came back before going further.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Notes published from then on go through it; notes that already existed are not picked up.
MPOWR Envision triggers
3 events start a Zap when something happens in MPOWR Envision, and 3 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Action Item Is Created
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new action item is created.”
Starts your Zap the moment someone adds an action item in MPOWR Envision. It turns the work your plans assign into something the rest of your tools know about: a chat message, an item in your project tool, a line in a tracking sheet.
Existing Tactic/Action Item Is Updated
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when existing tactic or action item is updated / edited.”
Fires each time an existing tactic or action item is edited. Where the creation trigger announces new work, this one follows it through every change, so a copy kept in another tool does not fall behind.
Progress Note Is Published
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new progress note is published.”
Goes off when a new progress note is published. Each note belongs to a strategic activity, and this trigger carries it beyond MPOWR Envision to the people who follow that goal.
MPOWR Envision actions
MPOWR Envision gives you 5 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Action Item
ActionIn Zapier“Create a new Action Item”
Adds a new action item to a plan in MPOWR Envision, so work that starts in another tool shows up where goals are tracked.
Add KPI Data Point
ActionIn Zapier“Add a data point to an existing Key Performance Indicator (KPI)”
Records a new value on a KPI that already exists, so numbers kept elsewhere reach MPOWR Envision.
Add Progress Note
ActionIn Zapier“Add a new Progress Note to an existing strategic activity”
Writes a new progress note on an existing strategic activity, so updates gathered outside MPOWR Envision join the history of that activity.
Update Action Item or Tactic
ActionIn Zapier“Update an existing Action Item or Tactic”
Changes an action item or a tactic that already exists, keeping MPOWR Envision in line when the work moves forward somewhere else.
Update KPI Data Point
ActionIn Zapier“Update a data point of an existing Key Performance Indicator”
Edits a data point already recorded on a KPI, for the times a number was entered wrong or gets revised later.
When it breaks
Zapier links no help article and no specific limit to MPOWR Envision. The cases below come from the required fields of its actions and from Zapier's general limits.
Keep these cases in mind when an MPOWR Envision Zap does not do what you planned. For a method to trace a failing step, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
A required field left empty
Every action needs Select Plan; Create Action Item also needs a Title and Add Progress Note the Text of the Note. Check them at test time.Items from before the Zap
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Action items and notes that already existed are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again and use up tasks fast.A sudden flood of items
If a trigger returns a huge batch at once, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
