What the mProfi Zapier integration does for you
mProfi is a service for sending and receiving SMS. On Zapier it covers both directions with two operations: Incoming SMS Message picks up new messages in your SMS inbox, and Send SMS Message sends one from your account. Everything else around the message happens in the other apps of your Zap.
Three results these two operations make possible. An SMS log you can search: each incoming message becomes a row in a spreadsheet, with the text kept outside your phone. A team that sees replies: a message received in mProfi is posted to your team chat, so the right person reads it without logging in. Automatic texts: a new entry in your form tool or a booking elsewhere triggers Send SMS Message, so the confirmation goes out by SMS on its own.
Now what Zapier does not do here. There is no search, so a Zap cannot look up an old message or a contact in mProfi. There is no trigger on sent messages and none on delivery. And a successful send only means the SMS was queued, not that it reached the phone: Zapier tells you it went into the queue, nothing more.
One more point that shapes everything: Incoming SMS Message is a polling trigger, so how fast a Zap reacts depends on your plan. For a wider look at the tool, see our Zapier review.
Zapier words in one minute
Seven terms carry the rest of this page.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, here a new SMS in your inbox.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, such as sending an SMS.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what it has not seen.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself the moment the event happens. mProfi has none on Zapier: its one trigger polls.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
What it really costs
mProfi is not a premium app, so it runs from the free plan up.
- Trigger and checksFree, never counted
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Filter or second actionMulti-step Zap, paid plan
The trigger never costs a task, and neither does Zapier checking your inbox, however often it looks. Each action that succeeds counts as one task: one Send SMS Message that goes into the queue is one task, and an action that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below matters here: it sets how often Zapier checks for incoming SMS.
Connect your mProfi account
- 01
Open the Apps page
In Zapier, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your mProfi account linked once, then reused by the trigger and the action alike, in every Zap.
- 02
Pick mProfi
Search mProfi by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can sign in to your mProfi account and continue there.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to mProfi in that tab and allow Zapier into the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: pass relevant SMS to your team chat
GoalEach new SMS in your mProfi inbox goes through a filter, then is posted as a message in your team chat.
- 01
Build: set the trigger
Create a Zap, pick mProfi as the starting app and
Incoming SMS Messageas the event, select your connection, then fill Start date in one of the accepted formats. - 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map the next steps on a real SMS.
- 03
Add a filter (paid plan)
Click the plus icon, choose Filter and fill the three boxes: field, rule, value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the chat step
Pick your team chat and the action that posts a message, then map the SMS details into its fields. Run the test and read what came back.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Messages that arrive from then on go through it, at the interval of your plan; older ones are not picked up.
mProfi trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in mProfi. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
Incoming SMS Message
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when there's a new messages fround in you SMS inbox.”
Starts your Zap when Zapier finds a new message in your mProfi SMS inbox. It is the way to get replies and inbound texts out of mProfi and into the tools where your team works: a sheet, a chat, a contact record.
RRRR-MM-DD GG:MM:SS, RRRR-MM-DD GG:MM or RRRR-MM-DD; check at test time which messages it brings back.mProfi action
mProfi gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Send SMS Message
ActionIn Zapier“Send an SMS message. Notice that a successful action means that the SMS has been queued, not delivered.”
Sends an SMS from your mProfi account to the number you map, with the text you build from earlier steps.
When it breaks
Zapier links no help article and no specific limit to mProfi. The cases below come from the required fields of its two operations and from Zapier's general limits.
Keep these cases in mind when an mProfi Zap does not do what you expected. For a method to trace a failing step, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Queued is not delivered
A successful Send SMS Message means the SMS went into the queue. Zapier does not tell you whether it reached the phone afterwards.A number or a message out of format
Recipient takes an international number without a "+" sign; Message is limited to 612 characters. Check both at test time.Messages from before the Zap
A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. SMS that were already in the inbox are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.The same SMS twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same message does not start the Zap twice.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution, a Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again and use up tasks fast.A sudden flood of messages
If the trigger returns a huge batch at once, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
