MrScraper Zapier integrationAutomate MrScraper with Zapier.

The MrScraper Zapier integration gives you 5 triggers and 3 actions. Every trigger is instant: a scrape starting, finishing, failing or producing a result starts a Zap at once. Other apps can run a scraper or fetch its latest result. Costs and pitfalls below.

Overview

What the MrScraper Zapier integration actually does

MrScraper pulls data out of web pages for you, and can run your scrapers on a schedule of its own. Connected to Zapier, it tells your other apps what its scrapers are doing and lets those apps start a scraper themselves, so scraped data reaches the tools you use.

Three results you can build. Scraped data stored where you work: New Result starts a Zap when a result has finished running, and a spreadsheet row can be added from it. A warning when a job breaks: Scrape Failed starts a Zap when a scrape job fails, so a message can reach your team chat. Scrapes on demand: another app can call Run AI Scraper, or Run Manual Scraper on a URL it supplies; both return the extracted data to the following steps, and Get Latest Result fetches the most recent result of a given scraper.

Good news for the free plan: all five triggers are instant. MrScraper tells Zapier itself, so no trigger here waits for a plan interval.

What Zapier does not do here. There is no search step, nothing creates, edits or deletes a scraper from Zapier, and every action needs the ID of a scraper that already exists in your MrScraper account. Before choosing a platform, see our n8n vs Zapier comparison or our Zapier review.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Seven words the Zapier editor uses everywhere, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts a Zap, such as a scrape job failing in MrScraper. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like running a scraper.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's allowance is a count of those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer; an instant one is reported by the app the moment it happens. All MrScraper triggers are instant.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What MrScraper on Zapier really costs

Zapier bills completed actions, not events. A trigger never costs a task, so MrScraper reporting a started, finished or failed job is free.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
  • MrScraper on freeYes, not reserved for paid plans
  • Instant triggersAll 5, on any plan
  • Filter or second actionPaid plan required

Every action that succeeds counts once; one that fails is not counted. MrScraper is not reserved for paid plans, so it runs on the free plan: 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps of two steps each. A filter or a second action, such as Get Latest Result followed by a spreadsheet row, makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger on each plan; it does not apply to MrScraper, whose five triggers are all instant.

Connect

Connect your MrScraper account

  1. 01

Open Apps and add a connection

Go to the Apps page of your Zapier account and click + Add connection. You need a MrScraper account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  2. 02

    Pick MrScraper

Type MrScraper in the search box of the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A new tab opens on the MrScraper sign-in screen, where the next step happens.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to MrScraper in that tab, then grant Zapier access to the account. Every MrScraper step in your Zaps reuses this connection afterwards, so you only do it once.

First Zap

Your first Zap: keep selected scraping results in a spreadsheet

GoalWhen MrScraper reports a new result and it passes a filter, add a row with its data to your spreadsheet.

  1. 01

    Set the trigger

Create a Zap, choose MrScraper as the trigger app and New Result as the event, then select the MrScraper connection made earlier.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the connected account, so you map fields on a real result rather than an empty one.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, choose Filter and set the field to look at, the rule and the value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so this step needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add the spreadsheet action

Add your spreadsheet app and its add-row action, connect the account that holds the sheet, then map the result fields to your columns. Test it and read the row it wrote.

  5. 05

    Publish

Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Only results that finish after this point are sent; older ones stay in MrScraper, untouched.

Triggers

MrScraper triggers

5 events start a Zap when something happens in MrScraper, and 5 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Result

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new scraping result (succeeded or failed) has finished running.”

Starts a Zap each time a scraping result has finished running, whether the run succeeded or failed, and passes that result to the next step.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
every result from your account should end up in a spreadsheet or another tool.
Watch out
failed runs fire it too; if only successful runs matter, Scrape Completed is the trigger that fires on success only.
2

Scrape Completed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a scrape job completes successfully.”

Fires only when a scrape job completes successfully, which makes it the cleaner signal when failed runs should not go any further.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
a finished job should set off the next step, such as fetching the result with Get Latest Result.
Watch out
what data comes with the event is not described, so run the trigger test before mapping anything.
3

Scrape Failed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a scrape job fails.”

Reacts when a scrape job fails, so a problem with a scraper is passed on to the people who need to know.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
your team chat or inbox should get a warning each time a job breaks.
Watch out
each failure costs one task for the warning you send, so a scraper that fails over and over adds up on your plan.
4

Scrape Started

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a scrape job starts.”

Goes off when a scrape job starts, which is handy to log or announce that a run is underway.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
you keep a log of every run, or want a note in a shared space when a scrape begins.
Watch out
it marks the start of a job, not its outcome; for the result, build on Scrape Completed or New Result.
5

Specific Scraper New Result

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new scraping result (succeeded or failed) has finished running for specific scraper”

Works like New Result, but only for the one scraper you name, so each of your scrapers can feed its own Zap and its own destination.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
one scraper feeds one sheet, another feeds a different tool, and you want them kept apart.
Watch out
Scraper ID is required, and like New Result it also fires on runs that failed.
Actions

MrScraper actions

MrScraper gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Get Latest Result

Action

In Zapier“Gets the most recent result for a specific scraper”

Fetches the most recent result of a given scraper, so its data can be used in the steps that come after.

When to use it
after Scrape Completed, to fetch the most recent result of that scraper and check at the test that it is the run you expect.
Watch out
Scraper ID is required, and adding this after a trigger plus another action makes the Zap multi-step.
2

Run AI Scraper

Action

In Zapier“Runs an AI Scraper and returns the extracted data”

Launches one of your AI scrapers from a Zap and hands the extracted data to the following steps.

When to use it
an event in another app, such as a new row or a form entry, should set off a scrape.
Watch out
Scraper ID is required, so the AI scraper must already exist in your MrScraper account.
3

Run Manual Scraper

Action

In Zapier“Runs an Manual Scraper and returns the extracted data”

Runs one of your manual scrapers on the page address you pass in, then returns what it extracted to the next steps.

When to use it
another app supplies the URL to scrape, one address at a time.
Watch out
both Scraper ID and URL are required, so check at the test that your source app supplies the address.
When it breaks

When the MrScraper Zap breaks

Zapier lists no limit and no error specific to MrScraper. What can go wrong comes from how every Zap works.

Three cases to know before you publish. If a Zap behaves oddly, our Zapier troubleshooting guide is the next stop.

  • Earlier results never show up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Results and jobs from before are not picked up; moving that history is a separate job.
  • A Zap that keeps setting itself off

A Zap that writes into the very place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and burn through your task count fast.
  • A huge batch is held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.

FAQ

MrScraper Zapier integration: questions people ask

01Is the MrScraper Zapier integration free?
Yes, for two-step Zaps. MrScraper is not reserved for paid plans, so it works on the free Zapier plan, which gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each made of one trigger and one action. Writing each new result to a spreadsheet fits in that. Filtering results first, or chaining Scrape Completed, Get Latest Result and a spreadsheet row, makes the Zap multi-step, and that needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a MrScraper Zap use?
One task per successful action, and nothing for the trigger. MrScraper reporting a started, finished or failed job costs nothing. A Zap that writes one row per result uses one task per row written. When Get Latest Result is followed by another action, each step that completes counts on its own. An action that fails is not counted against your plan. On the free plan, compare how many results your scrapers produce in a month with the 100 tasks available.
03Does MrScraper trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes, all five triggers are instant. MrScraper tells Zapier the moment a job starts, completes, fails or produces a result, so the Zap starts right away on any plan, free included, and the editor shows a lightning bolt on such a Zap. The polling interval of each plan does not apply to any MrScraper trigger. That makes the free plan a fair place to test a failure warning or a result log.
04What do you need to connect MrScraper to Zapier?
A MrScraper account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. You connect it once from the Apps page of your Zapier account: click + Add connection, pick MrScraper, sign in in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. Every MrScraper step in your Zaps then reuses that connection. Test each step once afterwards to see what it really returns.
05Why does New Result fire on failed scrapes?
Because that is how it is described: it fires when a scraping result has finished running, succeeded or failed. Specific Scraper New Result behaves the same way for one scraper. If only successful runs matter, use Scrape Completed, which fires on success only. A filter after New Result is another route, but this page cannot tell you which field to filter on: look at what the trigger test returns, and remember that a filter needs a paid plan.
06What if the MrScraper operation you want is not there?
Then Zapier does not offer it today. The MrScraper page on Zapier shows the current list of triggers and actions, and that is where to look before planning a Zap. Right now the integration covers the life of a scrape job and its results, plus running a scraper and fetching its latest result. There is no search, and nothing to create or change a scraper from Zapier, so that part stays in MrScraper.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for MrScraper?
Choose on criteria, not on a ranking. Coverage first: on Zapier, MrScraper offers five triggers and three actions, so check what the other tool offers for MrScraper before comparing anything else. Then speed: every MrScraper trigger is instant on Zapier, so the polling interval of a plan does not apply here. Then the shape of your flows: fetching a result and storing it is two actions, a multi-step Zap on a paid plan.
