Overview

What the myCred Zapier integration does for you

The myCred Zapier integration connects myCred, a points management system for building and managing digital rewards (points, ranks and badges) on a WordPress or WooCommerce site, to Zapier. It offers five triggers, one per reward event. When one of them is spotted, Zapier passes it to another app. It only reads from myCred.

Three results you can build on those triggers. A congratulation email: Earned Badges feeds your email tool, so a user hears about a new badge without anyone writing to them by hand. A reward log in a sheet: Earned Points and Deducted Points each add a row to a spreadsheet, so points coming in and going out sit side by side in one place. A team alert on rank changes: Earned Ranks and Lost Ranks post a message in your team chat, so a move up or down the ladder does not go unnoticed.

What Zapier does not do for myCred. There is no action, so a Zap cannot give points, award a badge or change a rank. There is no search either, so a Zap cannot look up a user's balance. All five triggers are polling triggers: Zapier checks on a timer, and nothing reaches your Zap between two checks. And only events after the Zap is switched on count. If you still need to judge Zapier itself, see our Zapier review.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Seven words come back on this page. Here they are, once, in ordinary words.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap, here a points, badge or rank event in myCred. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, always in another app here.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's count is a count of those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only the ones it has not seen.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a myCred Zap really costs

myCred is not a premium app, so it works from the free plan. You pay for completed actions, never for the trigger or for the checks.

  • Triggers and checksFree, never counted
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Premium appNo

None of the five triggers costs a task, and neither do the checks, however often Zapier runs them. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, so a two-action Zap uses twice what a one-action Zap uses. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps of two steps each: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and that needs a paid plan. The plan also sets how often Zapier checks myCred, as the grid below shows.

Connect

Connect myCred to Zapier in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In your Zapier account, open the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your myCred account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that needs it.

  2. 02

    Pick myCred

Type myCred in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the myCred sign-in. You need an account on the app before you can go further.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to myCred in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. You also need read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

First Zap

Your first Zap: congratulate a user on a new badge

GoalEach badge a user earns in myCred, when it matches your condition, sends a congratulation email.

  1. 01

Create the Zap and set the trigger

Start a new Zap, pick myCred as the app and Earned Badges as the event, then choose your myCred connection from the list.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account, so you build the next steps on a real one. Check at test time what each item holds.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add Filter, and fill the three boxes: the field, the rule, the value. A filter needs a paid plan, and a number rule only works on numbers.

  4. 04

    Add the email step

Add your email tool as the action, choose the step that sends an email, then map the values from the test into the email. Check at test time which values the trigger brings.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step once and read what came back before going further. When it all looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on.

Triggers

The five myCred triggers

5 events start a Zap when something happens in myCred. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

Deducted Points

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user lost points.”

Picks up the points a user loses in myCred and starts your Zap with each deduction it finds.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
when the outgoing side of your points programme matters as much as the incoming one, for a log or a heads-up in your team chat.
Watch out
Zapier remembers what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same deduction does not start the Zap twice.
2

Earned Badges

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user earns Badge.”

Spots each badge a user earns and hands it to the next steps of your Zap.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
to turn a badge into something the user sees outside the site, like a congratulation email, or into a line in your team chat.
Watch out
when you test it, Zapier brings back the three most recent items of the account; check at test time what each of them holds before you map anything.
3

Earned Points

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user earns points.”

Reports the points a user gains in myCred, one Zap run for each new item Zapier finds.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
to keep a running record of points handed out, in a spreadsheet, or to pass them to another tool your team already uses.
Watch out
each action that follows costs a task per item, so a busy points programme can eat through the 100 tasks of the free plan; a filter narrows it, on a paid plan.
4

Earned Ranks

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user earns rank.”

Catches a user moving up to a new rank and starts the Zap with that promotion.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
when a new rank deserves a message to the team or a row in a spreadsheet.
Watch out
a burst of rank changes after a bulk import or a migration comes back as a huge batch, and Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
5

Lost Ranks

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a user lost rank.”

Flags a user who drops a rank, so the Zap can tell someone or note it elsewhere.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
to follow the downward moves in your reward ladder, alongside the upward ones that Earned Ranks reports.
Watch out
it only sees ranks lost after the Zap is switched on; older changes stay where they are and never reach the Zap.
When it breaks

When a myCred Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to myCred, so these cases are the general Zapier limits that apply to its five polling triggers.

Four situations to keep in mind before and after you publish. If one of them shows up, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Past rewards never come through

The Zap only reacts to points, badges and ranks given after it is switched on. Nothing older is picked up, and moving that history is a separate job.
  • A big batch is held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back.
  • The event shows up later than expected

These are polling triggers: Zapier checks every 15 minutes on the free plan, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Between two checks, nothing moves.
  • A Zap that sets itself off

As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can start itself again and use up tasks fast.

FAQ

myCred and Zapier: the questions people ask

01Is the myCred Zapier integration free?
Yes. myCred is not a premium app, so it runs on the free Zapier plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger and one action. Earned Badges followed by one email in another app fits inside that. Add a filter or a second action and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The free plan also checks myCred every 15 minutes, against 2 on Professional and 1 on Team and Enterprise.
02How many tasks does a myCred Zap use?
One per successful action, for each item the trigger finds. The five myCred triggers never cost a task, and neither do the checks Zapier runs on them, however often. If your Zap adds a row to a sheet for each badge earned, every badge that gets its row costs one task. A two-action Zap costs two tasks per item. A failed action is not counted. A few apps and actions take more than one task when they complete, so check the app you plug in after myCred.
03Do myCred triggers fire in real time?
No. All five are polling triggers: Zapier asks myCred for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what it has not seen. On the free plan that interval is 15 minutes, on Professional it is 2, on Team and Enterprise it is 1. On the paid plans you can change how often the check runs, and you can also run a check by hand from the editor. The type comes from the app and cannot be switched to instant from the editor.
04What does it take to connect myCred to Zapier?
An account on myCred, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection starts from the Apps page of your Zapier account, with + Add connection. Pick myCred, sign in to it in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access to the account. Once that connection exists, every Zap that uses one of the five myCred triggers reuses it, so you only do this once.
05Can a Zap give points or badges in myCred?
No. The myCred integration has no action on Zapier, so a Zap cannot add or remove points, award a badge or change a rank. It has no search either, so a Zap cannot look up a balance. Everything you build starts from one of the five triggers (Deducted Points, Earned Badges, Earned Points, Earned Ranks, Lost Ranks) and writes into other tools: an email tool, a spreadsheet, a team chat. Reward logic itself stays inside myCred.
06What if the myCred operation you need is not there?
Then Zapier cannot run it for you today. The myCred page on Zapier shows the current list of operations: right now that is five triggers and nothing else, so no action and no search. Check that page before you plan a Zap around another event. If the step you are missing belongs to the receiving side, in the app that should get the data, open that app's own Zapier page instead, since that is where the operation would have to exist.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for myCred?
Decide on criteria rather than on a ranking. Start with the catalogue: does the tool list myCred, and with which events? On Zapier it does, with five polling triggers. Then the timing: with polling, how fast an event arrives depends on the plan, from 15 minutes on the free one down to 1 on Team. Then the number of steps you need, since a filter or a second action means a paid Zapier plan. And since myCred has no action on Zapier, also check which tool can write where your rewards should end up.
