Overview

What the MemberSpace Zapier integration is good for

The MemberSpace Zapier integration sends what happens on your members-only pages to your other tools. MemberSpace tells Zapier when someone joins a plan, leaves one, creates a profile or edits it, and Zapier passes that on. It cannot write anything back into MemberSpace.

Three results cover most uses. A welcome list that fills itself: New Membership adds each new member of the plans you pick to your email tool. A churn log: Canceled Membership writes every exit to a spreadsheet, whether the member canceled or the plan simply expired. A contact record that stays current: Updated Member Profile pushes a new name or email to your CRM. And Created Member Profile catches people who signed up but have not picked a plan yet.

All 4 triggers are instant: MemberSpace tells Zapier the moment the event happens, so the plan's checking interval never slows these Zaps, free plan included.

What Zapier does not do here. There are no actions, so no Zap can add a member, change a plan or cancel anyone in MemberSpace; that stays in the app. The single search, Find Member, only reads. And a Zap never picks up members who joined before it was switched on. To weigh Zapier against the other builders, see our Make vs Zapier comparison.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words you will meet in the editor, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, for example a new membership in MemberSpace.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you. With MemberSpace, actions live in your other apps.
Task
The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan counts those and nothing else.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for a check. All 4 MemberSpace triggers work this way.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it there otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, such as a member by email, so later steps can use what it found.
Cost

What a MemberSpace Zap really costs

MemberSpace is not a premium app on Zapier: it runs on the free plan. Its triggers never cost a task, since only an action that succeeds is counted, and those actions belong to your other apps.

  • Premium appNo, free plan works
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
  • Trigger cost0 tasks
  • MemberSpace actionsNone

The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. A second action, a filter or the Find Member search makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. A failed action is not counted, and a few apps take more than one task per action. The grid below is the checking interval of polling triggers; it does not apply to MemberSpace, whose 4 triggers are all instant.

Connect

Connect MemberSpace to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your MemberSpace account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that uses it.

  2. 02

    Pick MemberSpace

Search for MemberSpace in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.

  3. 03

    Sign in and allow access

Sign in to MemberSpace in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access to the account. Every Zap that uses MemberSpace can then reuse this connection.

First Zap

Your first Zap: welcome new members and tell the team

GoalWhen someone joins one of your plans, add them to your email tool and post a note in your team chat.

  1. 01

    Build: set the trigger

Create a Zap, choose MemberSpace and the New Membership event, then your connection. In Membership Plan, pick the plan or plans this Zap should cover.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items of your account, so the mapping is done on a real one. Read what the step carries.

  3. 03

    Add the email action

Add your email tool as the action and map the fields the trigger brought back. Check during the test which fields MemberSpace actually sends.

  4. 04

    Add the chat message

Add a second action in your team chat with a short note. Two actions make this a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan; drop it to stay free.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step once, read what came back, then click Publish. For guided practice on Zaps like this one, see our Zapier training.

Triggers

The 4 MemberSpace triggers

4 events start a Zap when something happens in MemberSpace, and 4 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

Canceled Membership

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Occurs when a member is canceled from any plan or their plan expires.”

Starts your Zap when a member leaves one of the plans you pick. It covers two different exits at once: a member canceled from a plan, and a plan that simply expired.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
log every exit in a churn sheet, or remove the person from the email list reserved for paying members.
Watch out
the Membership Plan field is required; if cancellations and expiries need different follow-ups, check at test what tells them apart before building a filter.
2

New Membership

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Occurs when a member is added to a plan.”

Fires when a member is added to a plan. This is the moment someone actually gets access, which makes it the natural start of any welcome workflow.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
add the member to your email tool, tag them in your CRM, or announce them to the team.
Watch out
its description says each new membership also sets off Updated Member Profile, so a Zap on that trigger can start for the same person.
3

Created Member Profile

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Occurs when a new member profile is created (before joining a membership plan).”

Reacts when a new member profile is created, before that person joins any plan. It catches people who signed up but have not committed yet.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
send a nudge to new profiles that have not picked a plan, through your email tool.
Watch out
no plan is attached at this stage, so do not map plan details from it; check at test what it carries.
4

Updated Member Profile

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Occurs when a member has updated their account profile (e.g. name change, email change). Will automatically occur when the "New Membership" trigger occurs.”

Goes off when a member edits their account profile, for example a new name or a new email address. It keeps your other records in line with what members type.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan.
When to use it
update the matching contact in your CRM when someone changes their email.
Watch out
it also fires automatically whenever New Membership does, so a Zap on each trigger can both start for the same new member; check at test.
Searches

The MemberSpace search

1 search step looks for data that already exists in MemberSpace, so a later step can use it.

A search step sits at the bottom of the action list, under the SEARCH heading of Action event. It finds an existing record so later steps can use it; some fields offer + Add search step to insert one just before. With no MemberSpace actions, this search is how a Zap started elsewhere reads member data. It makes the Zap multi-step.

1

Find Member

Search

In Zapier“Search for a member by email address”

Looks up a MemberSpace member from an email address. It lets a Zap triggered by another app, a form or a support tool, check who that person is on your members' side.

When to use it
a support ticket comes in and the next step should know whether the sender is a member.
Watch out
whether it wants the exact email or something close is decided by MemberSpace; test with a real address.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that relied on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into find-or-create. MemberSpace offers no such variant on Zapier, so you will not see it on Find Member.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one (the default), stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When it breaks

When a MemberSpace Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to MemberSpace and lists no rate limit for it. What breaks comes from Zapier's general rules and from how two triggers overlap.

  • No catch-up on the past

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Members who joined or left before stay out; moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • One join, two triggers

Updated Member Profile also fires automatically when New Membership does. If both carry a Zap, both can start for one new member; check it at test.
  • Flood protection after an import

A trigger that suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.
  • A plan left out of the trigger

New Membership and Canceled Membership only watch the plans chosen in Membership Plan. When you launch a new plan, review that list in each Zap.

FAQ

MemberSpace Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the MemberSpace Zapier integration free?
Yes, for two-step Zaps. MemberSpace is not a premium app on Zapier, so the free plan can use it. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and an unlimited number of Zaps, each with one trigger and one action. New Membership followed by an email-tool action fits. Add a team-chat message, a filter or the Find Member search and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. A churn log on Canceled Membership also fits the free plan.
02How many tasks does a MemberSpace Zap use?
One task for each action that succeeds, and nothing for the MemberSpace trigger. Since MemberSpace has no actions, every task is spent in your other apps: one for adding a new member to your email tool, two if the same Zap also posts in your team chat. A failed action is not counted. Watch the overlap: Updated Member Profile also fires with each New Membership, so two Zaps can both spend for the same person.
03Does MemberSpace trigger Zaps in real time?
Yes, all 4 MemberSpace triggers are instant. MemberSpace tells Zapier the moment a member joins, leaves, creates a profile or updates it, and the Zap starts right away whatever your plan. The checking interval of Zapier plans, 15 minutes on the free one, applies only to polling triggers, and MemberSpace has none. You will see a lightning bolt on these Zaps in the editor, which is how Zapier marks an instant trigger.
04What does it take to connect MemberSpace to Zapier?
An account on MemberSpace, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. You connect it once from the Apps page of Zapier with + Add connection: pick MemberSpace, sign in in the tab that opens and grant access. Before building, set up your membership plans, because New Membership and Canceled Membership both ask you to choose one or several in the Membership Plan field.
05Why can Updated Member Profile fire when someone joins a plan?
Because its official description says so: Updated Member Profile occurs automatically when New Membership occurs, on top of real profile edits such as a new name or email. A Zap built on it can therefore start for a new member, not only for someone who edited their profile. If you also run a Zap on New Membership, both can start for the same person. Decide which of the two Zaps should handle new members, and check at test what each one receives before you publish.
06What if the MemberSpace operation you need is not listed?
Then Zapier cannot do it with this app, and no setting changes that. MemberSpace offers no actions at all, so adding members, changing plans or canceling from a Zap is not possible: those steps stay in MemberSpace. What a Zap can do is react to its 4 triggers and read a member with Find Member. The MemberSpace page on Zapier shows the current list of operations, so check it there before you plan around a missing one.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for MemberSpace?
Judge it by your flow, not by a league table. On Zapier, MemberSpace can only start Zaps and be searched, so ask first whether your plan needs to write into MemberSpace; if it does, Zapier cannot help. If it only needs to react, every trigger here is instant, and a one-action Zap runs on the free plan. Write the flow down, count its actions per member, and price that same flow on Make and n8n before deciding.
