What the Nimba SMS Zapier integration does for you
Nimba SMS is a platform for sending business text messages in Guinea and across West Africa. On Zapier it only receives: another app starts the Zap, and Nimba SMS either sends a message or adds a phone number to your contacts. Both operations are actions, with no trigger and no search.
Two results you can build today, plus one that combines them. First, a text that goes out without anyone typing it: Send Message takes Message, Number and Sonder Name from what the previous step brought, and sends the SMS. Second, a contact list that fills itself: Add a Contact stores a phone number collected in another tool, so you stop copying numbers by hand. Third, both in one Zap: add the contact, then send the message, which makes it a multi-step Zap on a paid plan.
What Zapier does not do with Nimba SMS: there is no trigger, so a Zap cannot start when an SMS is sent or received in Nimba SMS. There is no search step either, so a Zap cannot look anything up in Nimba SMS. Every Zap has to start in another app. Nimba SMS is not a premium app, so a two-step Zap with one of its operations runs on the free plan.
The same app also exists on Make: see our Nimba SMS Make integration page. If you are still choosing a tool, open our Make vs Zapier comparison.
Zapier words in one minute
Eight words keep coming back below. Here they are in plain English, once.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. With Nimba SMS, that event always happens in another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that creates, sends or moves something for you, like an SMS.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completed successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by its app the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that finds something already stored in an app so later steps can use it. Nimba SMS offers none on Zapier.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a Nimba SMS Zap really costs
Nimba SMS is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. The trigger in the other app costs nothing: only a Nimba SMS action that succeeds counts as a task.
- Premium appNo, available on the free plan
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- What countsEach successful action, never the trigger
Each successful action counts on its own: add a contact then send a message, and every run uses two tasks. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, each limited to two steps, one trigger and one action. Two actions, or a filter, make it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan.
Nimba SMS has no trigger, so the grid below concerns the app that starts your Zap: if its trigger works by polling, this is how often Zapier checks it on each plan.
Connect Nimba SMS to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Nimba SMS account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that sends through it.
- 02
Find Nimba SMS
Search for Nimba SMS by name in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens so you can sign in to your Nimba SMS account and finish the link.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in and grant Zapier access to the account. You need an account on the app, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Nimba SMS Zap, step by step
GoalWhen a new row lands in your spreadsheet, add the phone number to Nimba SMS, then send it a text.
- 01
Create the Zap
Start a new Zap and pick your spreadsheet as the app that starts it, with its new-row event. Connect the account. If the editor shows a lightning bolt, its trigger is instant.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from the connected account, so you map fields on a real row and not on a guess.
- 03
Add the contact
Add Add a Contact from Nimba SMS, choose your connection, and map the row's phone number into Phone number, the only required field of this action.
- 04
Add the message
Add Send Message. Fill Message, map the same number into Number and set Sonder Name. Two actions make this a multi-step Zap: it needs a paid plan and uses two tasks per run.
- 05
Test, then publish
Run each step once and read what came back. When the text looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on. Our Zapier training is there if you want to go further.
Nimba SMS actions on Zapier
Nimba SMS gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Add a Contact
ActionIn Zapier“Add your contact number”
Saves a phone number in your Nimba SMS contacts, using a value the earlier step carried, so the list grows without manual copying.
Send Message
ActionIn Zapier“Sending message”
Sends an SMS through Nimba SMS, with Message, Number and Sonder Name filled from what the earlier steps carried.
When a Nimba SMS Zap stops working
Zapier does not attach a help article to Nimba SMS, and no limit specific to the app is documented. What remains are general rules that apply to any Zap, including one that sends texts.
Keep these in mind before you rely on the Zap. If a run fails anyway, see our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Nothing before the switch-on
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Rows or entries that existed before are not picked up, and sending to that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that sets itself off
As a general precaution: a Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can start itself again and again, and use up tasks fast.A sudden flood
If the trigger app suddenly sends a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back. The same item twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same item does not start the Zap twice.
