Overview

What the NobelSMS Zapier integration actually does

NobelSMS sends text messages, to one recipient or to many at once. Through Zapier, those texts go out on their own when an event happens in another app you use: a paid order, a booked appointment, a new lead. Nobody has to copy a phone number into an SMS tool by hand.

Three results people usually set up first. An order confirmation by text: a new order in your shop fires the Zap and Send Single SMS tells the buyer it is on its way. A reminder before an appointment: a booking tool hands over the client's number and the same action sends the practical details. An alert to the whole team: Send Bulk SMS texts every person on call at once when an urgent ticket comes in.

Now what the official page does not spell out. NobelSMS has no trigger, so it never starts a Zap: an incoming reply or a delivery report will not set anything off. It has no search either, so the phone number must come from an earlier step, already in international format. And Zapier cannot tell you whether the SMS reached the handset; it only knows the action went through without an error.

Vocabulary

Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven words come back all over this page. Here they are, in plain English.

Zap
The automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts a Zap. NobelSMS has none, so your shop, CRM or form always plays that part.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that sends, writes or moves something for you, here a text message.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task equals one action your Zap completed successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is pushed by the app the moment the event happens.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action turns it into one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a NobelSMS Zap really costs

NobelSMS works on the free Zapier plan: Zapier does not keep it for paying customers. The Zapier side is billed in tasks; your SMS credit with NobelSMS is a separate matter.

  • Trigger0 tasks
  • Each successful action1 task
  • Free plan100 tasks a month
  • Free plan Zap size2 steps
  • Reserved for paid plansNo

The trigger in your other app never costs a task, and Zapier checking that app for news is free however often it looks. Each NobelSMS action that succeeds counts as one task, whether it sends one text or a bulk message to a whole list. In a Zap with three actions, each success counts on its own. A failed action is not billed. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and Zaps of two steps; a filter or a second action moves you to a paid plan.

Connect

Connect your NobelSMS account in three steps

  1. 01

    Open your connections

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. A connection is your NobelSMS account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that sends a text.

  2. 02

    Pick NobelSMS

Type NobelSMS in the search box of the dialog, select it and click Add connection. You need a NobelSMS account of your own, plus access to anything shared you want the Zap to use.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

A tab opens on NobelSMS. Sign in and allow Zapier to send messages through your account. Back in Zapier, the connection shows up in the list, ready for both actions.

First Zap

Your first Zap with NobelSMS

GoalText every Shopify buyer a confirmation, but only when the order carries a phone number.

  1. 01

    Create the Zap

Start a new Zap and pick Shopify with New Order as what starts it. NobelSMS has no trigger, so your shop plays that role.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test: Zapier brings back the three most recent orders of your store, so you map a real phone number in the steps that follow.

  3. 03

    Add the filter

Click the plus icon, add a Filter and set it to continue only when the phone field exists. Orders without a number stop here.

  4. 04

    Add the SMS

Add NobelSMS with Send Single SMS. Map the buyer's phone number, then write the message body with the order details you want to show.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Send a test to your own phone and read what came back. Click Publish to switch it on; with a filter, this Zap needs a paid plan.

Actions

The 2 NobelSMS actions

NobelSMS gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Send Bulk SMS

Action

In Zapier“Sends an SMS message to multiple recipients at once.”

Pushes the same text to several recipients in one step, from a list of numbers separated by commas.

When to use it
alerting everyone on call when a critical ticket arrives, or warning a group of drivers that a schedule changed.
Watch out
every recipient gets the exact same body, and each number in the list must follow the international format. One run is one task, however long the list.
2

Send Single SMS

Action

In Zapier“Sends a single SMS message to one recipient.”

Sends one text message to one phone number, with the content you write or map from earlier steps.

When to use it
a personal message tied to an event, like an order confirmation, a delivery notice or an appointment reminder for a single client.
Watch out
the number has to be in international format, starting with the country code. A local number from a form field often needs cleaning first.
When it breaks

When a NobelSMS Zap breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to NobelSMS, so the cases below come from how any Zap behaves, plus the format rules written into the two actions.

Since NobelSMS never starts a Zap, many surprises come from the app that does. On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same order does not send two texts. If a run stops anyway, start with our Zapier troubleshooting guide.

  • Past contacts get nothing

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you publish it. Customers who ordered before receive no text; reaching them is a separate campaign.
  • A bulk import gets held back

When the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a CRM import for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold the runs back.
  • The number is in local format

Both actions expect international format, country code first. A number typed the local way in a form or a CRM does not match what the field asks for.
  • The bulk list is badly separated

Send Bulk SMS reads a list of numbers split by commas. Line breaks, semicolons or a single unsplit field leave the action without a clean list to send to.

FAQ

NobelSMS Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the NobelSMS Zapier integration free?
On the Zapier side, yes, for simple Zaps. NobelSMS is not reserved for paid plans, so a two-step Zap, one trigger in another app and one SMS action, runs on the free plan with its 100 tasks a month. Add a filter, for example to skip orders without a phone number, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The SMS credit itself is handled by your NobelSMS account, which this page does not cover.
02How many tasks does a NobelSMS Zap use?
One task per successful NobelSMS action, and nothing for the trigger. A single text costs one task. A bulk text to a whole list also costs one task, since it is one action, which makes Send Bulk SMS the cheaper choice on the Zapier side when several people need the same message. Zapier checking your other app for new items is free, and a failed action is not counted against your plan.
03Does NobelSMS send texts in real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, because NobelSMS has no trigger of its own. If that app's trigger is instant, the text goes out as soon as the event happens. If it is a polling trigger, Zapier checks at an interval set by your plan: every 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. Once the Zap starts, the SMS action runs straight away.
04What does it take to connect NobelSMS to Zapier?
A NobelSMS account, plus access to anything shared that the Zap should use. In Zapier you open the Apps page, click + Add connection, choose NobelSMS, sign in on the tab that opens and grant access. Then check your data: both actions require a message body and phone numbers in international format, with the country code first. For bulk sends, the numbers must be one list separated by commas. Prepare those fields before your first test.
05Why does a NobelSMS text not go out?
Most of the time the phone number is the problem. Both actions want international format, country code first, and numbers typed locally in a form or CRM do not match. For Send Bulk SMS, a list split by line breaks or semicolons instead of commas causes the same kind of failure. A failed action costs no task, but the person gets nothing, so read the Zap history after the first real runs.
06What if the NobelSMS feature you need is not in Zapier?
Then the integration cannot do it today. It offers two actions, a single text and a bulk text, with no trigger and no search. So an incoming reply cannot start a Zap, and a Zap cannot check whether a message was delivered. If you need replies or delivery reports in your workflow, look at what NobelSMS offers on its own side. Inside Zapier, the most a Zap can do is check the data before sending, with a filter, which makes the Zap multi-step and needs a paid plan.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for NobelSMS?
It depends on your criteria, not on a winner. Zapier has a ready NobelSMS integration with two actions, and a free plan that covers a two-step Zap, which is enough for a basic confirmation text. If your texts need filters or several steps per run, the paid plans come into play, which is where comparing the pricing models of Make and n8n makes sense. If nobody on your team codes, a ready connector often counts most.
