Why connect Notify to Zapier
The Notify Zapier integration lets any app you already use push a message through Notify. A Zap (the automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run each time) watches that app and calls Send Notification with a template, a channel, a language and a recipient.
Three things that single action produces. An order confirmation by email or text, sent from the same Notify template whenever a sale lands in your sheet. An internal alert in a Slack channel when a support ticket gets flagged as urgent, because the recipient field takes a channel as easily as an address. And a bilingual reminder: one template, two languages, and the Zap picks which one from the customer's data.
What Zapier won't do with Notify, since the listing stays quiet on it. Notify exposes no trigger, so a delivery, a bounce or a reply inside Notify can't start a Zap. There is no search either: the Zap can't read past notifications or check whether a message already went out. Templates and channels are built in Notify itself, not from Zapier.
If you're still choosing a platform, our Make vs Zapier comparison sets out the criteria (pricing model, branching, learning curve) without picking for you.
Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Seven words keep coming back on this page. Here they are once, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation itself: one starting event, then one or more steps that run every single time that event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it. Notify offers no trigger of its own.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, here a notification.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's monthly number counts exactly those.
- Polling vs instant trigger
- Polling: Zapier checks the app on a timer. Instant: the app calls Zapier the moment the event happens, nothing waits.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming data meets your condition, and quietly stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes it one, and it needs a paid plan.
What it really costs
Notify is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. You pay in tasks, and here only the message step uses them.
- Premium appNo, free plan works
- Free plan100 tasks a month
- Free plan Zap size2 steps: 1 trigger, 1 action
- Cost of a trigger0 tasks
The trigger in the other app never costs a task, however often Zapier checks it. Each Send Notification that goes through counts as one task, and a send that fails counts for nothing. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and two-step Zaps only: one trigger, one action. Want to send the same alert on two channels? That's two actions, so a multi-step Zap and a paid plan, and each successful send is counted on its own.
Connect your Notify account
- 01
Go to Apps
In Zapier, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Notify account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that sends through it.
- 02
Find Notify
Search for Notify in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need a Notify account first; Zapier doesn't open one for you, and the connection only reaches what that account can see.
- 03
Sign in and allow access
A tab opens on Notify. Sign in and let Zapier reach the account. If the templates you plan to use were built by a colleague, check that your login can actually use them.
Your first Zap: a new order sends a confirmation
GoalEvery paid order added to a sheet triggers a templated confirmation through Notify.
- 01
Set the starting event
Create a Zap, pick the app and event that start it, here a new row in your orders sheet. Test it: Zapier pulls the three most recent rows so you map on a real one.
- 02
Filter paid orders
Click the plus icon, choose Filter, and set field, rule and value. Use a text rule on a text column. This step makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 03
Add Send Notification
Pick Notify and Send Notification. Choose the template, then a channel assigned to it, then the language. Map the customer's email or phone into Recipient.
- 04
Test with your own address
Run the step once and read what comes back. A test really sends, so put your own email or number in Recipient for this run.
- 05
Publish
Swap the recipient back to the mapped field, then click Publish. Each paid order now sends one confirmation and uses one task.
The Notify action on Zapier
Notify gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

Pushes one of your Notify templates to a person or a place, filled with the data the Zap carried, on the channel and in the language you select.
When it breaks
Zapier ties no help article to Notify, so the known failure points are the ones every Zap shares.
Four of them matter more when the output is a message someone receives. If one blocks you, the Zapier troubleshooting guide walks through the fixes.
Old records never get a message
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Orders already in the sheet won't be notified; handling that backlog is a separate job.A loop that floods inboxes
If a later step writes back into the sheet your trigger watches, the Zap keeps setting itself off, sending again each time and burning tasks.Bulk imports get held back
Paste hundreds of rows at once and the trigger returns a huge batch. Zapier's flood protection can hold it back rather than send every message. No double sends from one row
On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same row never sends the notification twice.
