What the numverify Zapier integration does for your contact data
Zapier links apps so that an event in one runs a step in another, with no copying by hand. numverify is a phone number validation service: it tells you whether a number is real and adds what it knows about it, such as the country, the location, the carrier and the type of line. Through Zapier, any app that collects numbers can ask it.
Three results people build with it. A lead list without dead numbers: each new row in a sign-up sheet goes through Validate Phone Number before your sales team calls it. Contacts tagged by country: the country numverify returns is written back next to the number, so you can route leads to the right office. Mobile numbers sorted from landlines: the line type tells your text-message campaigns which contacts can actually receive one.
What Zapier does not do here. numverify has no trigger, so it can never start a Zap on its own: the number always arrives from another app first. It has no search either, so a later step cannot look anything up in numverify. And because the useful part is acting on the answer, most real setups need a second step, a filter or an update, which puts them on a paid plan.

The Zapier words you will meet, in one minute
Eight terms come back on this page. Here they are once, in plain words.
- Zap
- The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, such as a new row in a sheet. numverify has none, so another app always plays this part.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or checks something for you, like validating a phone number.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only what it has not seen.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for the next check by Zapier.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it quietly otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action or a filter makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What it really costs to check numbers with numverify in Zapier
The trigger of your Zap never costs a task, and neither do Zapier's checks on the app that supplies the numbers.
- One checkOne task when it succeeds
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
- Premium appNo, numverify works on the free plan
- Write back or filterMulti-step Zap, paid plan
Each successful Validate Phone Number is one task, and a check that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, and a check every 15 minutes on polling triggers, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, then the validation, and nothing after it. To write the result back or stop on a bad number, you add a step, so a paid plan. numverify itself is not a premium app on Zapier.
Connect your numverify account to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the connections page
In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your numverify account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that checks numbers.
- 02
Find numverify and sign in
Type numverify in the dialog, select it and click Add connection. A tab opens on numverify's side: sign in with the account you want the checks to run under.
- 03
Grant access and come back
Allow Zapier to use that account. You need a numverify account of your own for this; without one, there is nothing to connect and the action cannot run.
Your first Zap: check every new phone number in a sign-up sheet
GoalEach time a row lands in your sign-up sheet, check its phone number with numverify and keep going only when the number holds up.
- 01
Start from the app that holds the numbers
Create a Zap and pick the sheet, form or CRM where phone numbers arrive as the trigger. numverify cannot start a Zap, so this first step always belongs to another app.
- 02
Test the trigger on a real row
Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items so you can pick one with a genuine phone number to map in the next step.
- 03
Add Validate Phone Number
Add a numverify action, choose Validate Phone Number, select your connection, then map the phone number from the trigger into the Phone Number field.
- 04
Filter and write the answer back
Add a filter that lets only valid numbers through, then a step that records the result next to the contact. These extra steps make it a multi-step Zap, on a paid plan.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test each step once and read what numverify returned before going further. Then publish to switch the Zap on. Rows that existed before that moment are not checked.
The numverify action, in detail
numverify gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Validate Phone Number
ActionIn Zapier“Validate a phone number.”
Takes a phone number from an earlier step and asks numverify whether it is a valid number. The answer comes back with what numverify knows about it, such as the country, location, carrier and type of line, ready for the next step to use.
When a numverify Zap breaks, and why
Zapier attaches no help article to numverify, so the known failure points are the general ones, plus the one required field.
Most broken runs come from four situations. When you cannot place a failure, the Zapier troubleshooting page walks through the checks in order.
Old contacts are never checked
A Zap only reacts to what arrives after you publish it. Numbers already sitting in your sheet or CRM are not validated; cleaning that backlog is a separate job.The phone number arrives empty
Phone Number is required. If the trigger app sends a contact without one, Validate Phone Number fails for that run and nothing is written back.A Zap that sets itself off
Write the result into the very sheet your trigger watches for new rows, and the Zap can start again on its own output and burn through your tasks.A bulk import gets held back
Paste thousands of contacts at once and the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch. Zapier's flood protection may hold those items back instead of running them.
