What the OpnForm Zapier integration does for you
OpnForm is a form builder. Linked to Zapier, it offers a single starting point: a new submission on a form you choose. Each submission can then feed another tool, the same day, without anyone exporting a file or copying a field by hand.
Simple on purpose: one event, many possible destinations.
Here is what teams typically build on top of New Submission:
A contact created from a sign-up form. A newsletter or waitlist form fills your CRM directly, and the marketing team segments from day one instead of after a monthly export.
An order or request logged in a sheet. An internal request form, say for equipment or time off, writes one row per submission, so the office manager works from a single list.
An email to the right inbox. A support or quote form sends a message to the person in charge, with the answers already in the body, so nobody refreshes the form dashboard.
What Zapier cannot do with OpnForm: build or edit a form, close one, delete a submission, or look up an older entry. There is no action and no search for this app on Zapier, only the trigger. Submissions received before your automation went live stay where they are. If you are still comparing tools, start with the Zapier review.
Zapier vocabulary, in plain words
Eight terms come back throughout this page. Here they are, once.
- Zap
- An automation on Zapier: one starting event, followed by one or more steps that run every time that event happens again.
- Trigger
- The event that starts a Zap. For OpnForm, a new submission on a form. Once the Zap is switched on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- The step that does the work after the trigger: writing, sending or moving something. With OpnForm, it lives in another app.
- Task
- What Zapier counts and bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Plans are sized in tasks per month.
- Instant vs polling
- An instant trigger is reported by the app the moment it happens. A polling one is checked by Zapier on a timer. New Submission is instant.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when the incoming data meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Connection
- Your OpnForm account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap and every step that needs OpnForm.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap that goes beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action is enough, and a paid plan is then required.
What an OpnForm Zap costs
OpnForm is not one of the apps Zapier keeps for paid plans: it works on the free plan.
- Per submission received0 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two steps per Zap
- Paid plan required forFilters and any second action
- New SubmissionInstant, whatever the plan
Receiving a submission costs nothing, because a trigger never uses a task. Each action that succeeds afterwards counts as one task; one that fails does not count. On the free plan you get 100 tasks a month and Zaps limited to two steps, the trigger plus a single action. A filter or a second action turns it into a multi-step Zap, which requires a paid plan. The polling grid below is shown for reference only: New Submission is instant on every plan.
Connect OpnForm to Zapier
- 01
Start from the Apps page
Log in to Zapier and open the Apps page, the list of every account you have linked. Click + Add connection to bring up the search dialog where apps are listed.
- 02
Find OpnForm
Search for OpnForm in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an OpnForm account already; the connection only links an existing one to Zapier.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to OpnForm in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access to the account. Use the account that can see the forms you want to automate, including shared ones.
Your first Zap: only urgent requests reach the support inbox
GoalEmail the support lead only when an OpnForm submission is marked as urgent.
- 01
Pick the trigger
In a new Zap, choose OpnForm and the New Submission event, then your connection. Fill the two required settings: first the Workspace, then the Form inside it.
- 02
Test it on real data
Run the trigger test. Zapier fetches the three most recent submissions of that form, so you can map the next steps on genuine answers instead of empty placeholders.
- 03
Add the filter
Use the plus icon to add a Filter. Pick the priority answer as the field, a text rule, and the value to match. From here the Zap is multi-step, so a paid plan applies.
- 04
Add the email action
Add your email app as the last step and drop the submission's answers into the subject and body. Test this step once and read what came back before moving on.
- 05
Publish
Click Publish to turn the Zap on. Every new submission now goes through the filter. Submissions sent before this moment are not processed.
OpnForm trigger on Zapier
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in OpnForm, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Submission
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new submission is created.”
Fires your Zap whenever someone completes the OpnForm form you selected, and hands every answer from that submission to the steps that follow. One Zap watches one form, so a second form means a second Zap.
When an OpnForm Zap stops working
Zapier lists no help article specific to OpnForm, so these are the failures that apply to every Zap.
They rarely announce themselves while you build. You notice them later, when a submission is missing downstream or the task counter climbs faster than your form traffic. The Zapier troubleshooting page goes further.
Past submissions are not imported
The Zap only reacts to submissions that arrive after you publish it. Anything collected earlier stays in OpnForm, and bringing it over is a separate job.A Zap that triggers itself
If a later step writes back into what the trigger watches, each run starts another one, and the monthly task count drains fast.A big batch gets held back
When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it instead of running it all.The filter blocks everything
Filter rules are typed: a number rule on a text answer never matches. Pick the rule that fits the field, or every submission stops at the filter.
