OpusClip Zapier integrationAutomate OpusClip with Zapier.
The OpusClip Zapier integration gives you 1 trigger, 3 actions and 4 searches. A Zap can send a long video to OpusClip for clipping, captions or a transcript, hear when the project is done, and fetch the clips, transcripts or captioned video for the next app.

What the OpusClip Zapier integration does
The OpusClip Zapier integration connects OpusClip, an AI video tool that cuts long videos into short clips with captions and transcripts, to the rest of your stack of apps. A Zap (the automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions) can start an OpusClip project, react when one is completed, and pull its results.
Three results people build. A clip pipeline: a new recording in another app goes to Clip Your Video, and when New Project Completed fires, Get Clips hands the clips to the next step. A transcript archive: Transcribe Your Video starts the job, then Get Transcript of Project stores the text where your team searches its notes. A captioned delivery: Add Captions to Your Video, then Get Your Video With Captions once the project is done, ready to share.
The one trigger is instant: OpusClip tells Zapier itself when a project is completed, so the Zap starts without waiting for a check, even on the free plan.
What Zapier does not do here: it cannot edit, rename or delete a project or a clip, and the trigger only covers completed projects, not projects that start or fail. Note too that chaining a create action with a search in one Zap makes it multi-step, which needs a paid plan. For a wider view, see Zapier review and n8n vs Zapier.
The Zapier words on this page
Eight terms, one line each, then used without further explanation.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap, like an OpusClip project being completed. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something, such as sending a video to OpusClip.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer; an instant trigger is reported by the app itself, the moment the event happens.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already in an app, like the clips of a project, so the steps after it can use what it found.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap continue only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A search, a filter or a second action makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
What an OpusClip Zap costs
Zapier bills tasks, and only actions that succeed become tasks.
- OpusClip trigger0 tasks, instant
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- Zap with a searchMulti-step, paid plan
The OpusClip trigger never costs a task. Each action that succeeds counts as one, so Clip Your Video sent once costs one task, and a failed action costs nothing. A Zap with three actions uses three times what a one-action Zap uses. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, but each Zap stops at two steps. Adding a search step, a filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan, and most useful OpusClip flows use a search. OpusClip is not a premium app. The interval grid below does not apply to its instant trigger.
Connect your OpusClip account
- 01
Open Apps
On the Apps page of your Zapier account, click + Add connection. A connection (your OpusClip account linked to Zapier once) is then reused by every OpusClip step you build.
- 02
Find OpusClip
Search for OpusClip by name in the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. Keep your OpusClip login ready, since the next screen asks for it, and the connection uses the account you sign in with.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to OpusClip in the tab that opens and grant Zapier access. You need an OpusClip account, plus access to any project you do not own but want the Zap to read or create.
Your first OpusClip Zap
GoalWhen an OpusClip project is completed, fetch its clips and post them to your team channel.
- 01
Set the trigger
Create a Zap, pick OpusClip and
New Project Completed, then your OpusClip connection. The lightning bolt in the editor confirms this trigger is instant. - 02
Test on a real project
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent completed projects of the connected account, so you map the next steps on real data.
- 03
Add Get Clips
Add a step, choose OpusClip and
Get Clipsfrom the search section of the event list. Map the project ID from the trigger. This makes the Zap multi-step, so a paid plan. - 04
Add the message
Add the app that should receive the result and its action, then map what Get Clips found into the message. Test the step and read what came back.
- 05
Publish
When the test looks right, publish the Zap to switch it on. Each project completed from then on posts its clips to the channel.
The OpusClip trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in OpusClip, and one of them is instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.
New Project Completed
Instant triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when there's a new project completed.”
Starts your Zap each time an OpusClip project finishes, whether it was a clipping, captioning or transcription job. It is the hinge of most OpusClip automations: the step that says the results are ready to fetch.
The 3 OpusClip actions
OpusClip gives you 3 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Clip Your Video
ActionIn Zapier“Create a project to turn long videos into short clips.”
Sends a long video to OpusClip as a new project that cuts it into short clips. A setting lets you skip the clipping step, if you only want OpusClip to process the video.
Add Captions to Your Video
ActionIn Zapier“Create a project to generate captions for your video.”
Opens an OpusClip project that adds captions to your video. Pair it with Get Your Video With Captions once the project is completed to get the captioned file back.
Transcribe Your Video
ActionIn Zapier“Create a project to get a full transcript of your video.”
Creates an OpusClip project that produces a full transcript of the video. The text itself comes later, through Get Transcript of Project.
The 4 OpusClip searches
4 search steps look for data that already exists in OpusClip, so a later step can use it.
Searches sit at the bottom of the action event list, under a SEARCH heading. Each OpusClip search reads the results of a project you point it to, and three settings decide what happens when the answer is not the one expected.
Get Clips
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieves clips from a project with optional filtering.”
Fetches the clips of a project, with optional filtering, so the next step can post, store or share them. It reads what a finished clipping project produced.
Get Transcript of Clips
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieves transcript for specific clips within a project.”
Returns the transcript of specific clips inside a project, rather than the whole video. Handy for writing a caption or a post that matches exactly what each clip says.
Get Transcript of Project
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieves transcript for a project in the specified format.”
Brings back the full transcript of a project, in the format you choose. This is the step that turns a transcription project into text another app can store.
Get Your Video With Captions
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieves a video with captions from a project.”
Retrieves the captioned version of a video from a project, so you can pass it to a storage or publishing app. It is the natural follow-up to Add Captions to Your Video.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and skips the steps that depended on it. Switch it on and the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. OpusClip offers no find-or-create version of its searches, so it has no use here.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or hand all of them on at once.
When an OpusClip Zap breaks
Zapier lists no help article and no rate limit for OpusClip. The cases below are general Zapier behaviors, and the first one is a real risk with this app.
OpusClip works in two beats: a project starts, then it is completed. Most broken Zaps forget that rhythm or build a loop out of it. For failed runs, see Zapier troubleshooting.
The project loop
A Zap on New Project Completed that runs Clip Your Video, Add Captions or Transcribe creates a project, which completes and starts the Zap again, burning tasks. Results asked for too early
A search placed right after a create action looks at a project that is not finished yet. Fetch clips or transcripts from a Zap started by New Project Completed instead.Old projects are not picked up
A Zap only reacts to projects completed after you switch it on. Your earlier projects stay out of it; handling them is a separate job.A batch of videos held back
If a bulk upload suddenly produces a huge batch of completed projects, Zapier's flood protection can hold those runs back instead of firing them all.
