OTO Zapier integrationAutomate OTO with Zapier.
The OTO Zapier integration gives you 0 triggers, 1 action and 3 searches. OTO cannot start a Zap on its own: another app does, and OTO receives the order or hands back the ones it already holds, one by ID or a page at a time.

What the OTO Zapier integration actually does
OTO is a shipping gateway: one dashboard that plugs a store into more than 350 carriers. Through Zapier, it accepts new orders from elsewhere and lets a Zap read back orders it already holds. It never starts a Zap by itself, because it has no trigger at all.
Three results worth building. Orders from a sheet: a new row in a spreadsheet starts the Zap and Create Order files it in OTO, ready to ship. Order status on demand: an event in another app starts the Zap, Get Order Details fetches one order by its ID, and the next step passes what it found to a teammate or a customer tool. An export by date range: Get Orders or Get All Orders pulls the orders of a date range, page by page, into a report.
The catch is the starting point. With no OTO trigger, nothing that happens inside OTO (a new order, a shipped parcel) can launch a Zap. Something in another app always has to go first. Get Order Details also needs an Order Id carried by an earlier step, so decide where that reference comes from before you build. Searches also make a Zap multi-step, so three of the four operations need a paid plan.

Zapier words, in plain English
Seven words keep coming back on this page. Here they are once.
- Zap
- An automation you build in Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. OTO has none, so the trigger always comes from another app.
- Action
- What the Zap does after it starts: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like filing an order.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan allowance is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- A polling trigger is checked by Zapier on a timer. An instant trigger is reported by its app the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something already stored in an app, so later steps can use it. OTO offers three, all about orders.
What an OTO Zap really costs
OTO is not a premium app, so it opens on the free plan. In practice, only one of its operations fits a free Zap.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps, two steps per Zap
- OTO on FreeCreate Order only, after another app's trigger
- OTO searchesMake the Zap multi-step, paid plan
- BilledEach successful action, one task
The trigger, which here belongs to another app, never costs a task. Each Create Order that goes through counts as one task; one that fails is not billed. The free plan builds two-step Zaps only, one trigger and one action. A search step, a filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, and that needs a paid plan. So on Free you can push orders into OTO, but reading them back with any of the three searches means upgrading. How fast the Zap starts depends on the other app's trigger: if it polls, the grid below applies.
Connect your OTO account to Zapier
- 01
Open your connections
In Zapier, go to the Apps page and click + Add connection. A connection is your OTO account linked once to Zapier, then reused by every step that talks to OTO, in every Zap.
- 02
Pick OTO
Search for OTO in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the OTO sign-in page; use the account that holds your store's orders, not a personal sandbox.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to OTO in that tab and let Zapier reach the account. You need an OTO account, plus read or write rights on anything you do not own yourself but want a Zap to touch.
Your first OTO Zap, step by step
GoalFile each new spreadsheet row as an OTO order, but only for rows marked ready to ship.
- 01
Set the trigger in the other app
Build a new Zap. OTO has no trigger, so start with the app that receives your orders, here a spreadsheet and its new-row event.
- 02
Test that trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent rows of the connected account, so you map the order on a real row, not a made-up one.
- 03
Add the filter
From the plus icon, add Filter: pick the column, the rule and the value. A text rule only works on text, so match the rule to the column.
- 04
Add Create Order
Choose OTO and
Create Order, then map Order Id, amounts, currency, the customer and each item's sku, name, price and quantity from the row. - 05
Test, then publish
Test the step and check the order shows up in OTO. Then click Publish to switch the Zap on. The filter makes it multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
The OTO action
OTO gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Order
ActionIn Zapier“Create an order in OTO”
Files a new order in OTO from data another app already holds: who bought, what, for how much and how they pay. Optionally, it books the shipment in the same move.
The OTO searches
3 search steps look for data that already exists in OTO, so a later step can use it.
All three searches sit at the bottom of the action-event list, under the SEARCH heading. Each one makes the Zap multi-step. Three settings decide what happens when a search comes back empty or crowded.
Get All Orders
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieve a list of all orders in your account”
Brings back the orders of your OTO account created between two dates, one page at a time. You set how many per page and which page to read.
yyyy-mm-dd format.Get Order Details
SearchIn Zapier“Get the details of a specific order”
Looks up a single order from its Order Id and hands its details to the steps that follow. It is the precise one of the three: one ID in, one order out.
Get Orders
SearchIn Zapier“Retrieve orders in a period of time”
Pulls the orders placed within a period, paged the same way: a minimum date, a maximum date, a page number and a page size, all required.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, an empty search stops the Zap there and skips the steps that relied on it. Switched on, the Zap carries on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This box turns a search into a find-or-create. OTO offers no such variant, so none of its searches can create a missing order.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several orders match: keep the first one, the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on at once.
When an OTO Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article and no documented limit to OTO. What breaks comes from the order fields and from general Zapier behavior.
Four cases to check before you publish. For anything stranger, see Zapier troubleshooting.
Orders placed before the Zap are skipped
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Rows or orders that existed before are never picked up; moving that backlog is a separate job.Shipment on, pickup code missing
When Create shipment is true, the pickup location code becomes mandatory. Leave it empty and Create Order fails on every run that asks for a shipment.A page caps at 100 orders
Get All Orders returns 100 orders per page at most. A busy period spreads over several pages, and you have to read each page number in turn.A bulk import gets held back
If the trigger app suddenly returns a huge batch, after a bulk import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back instead of filing every order.
