Overview

What the PagePixels Screenshots Zapier integration actually does

It links your PagePixels account to Zapier, the tool that chains apps together without code. You build a Zap (one starting event, then the steps that run after it) and PagePixels either starts it, when a page changes or a screenshot lands, or does the work inside it: capture, analyze, extract.

Three results people build first. A change alert with context: New Change Notification starts the Zap, then Take a Screenshot of a Web Page and Analyze the Image With AI describes in plain words what the page shows now. A visual archive of a competitor page: Create a Recurring Screenshot sets the schedule once, and its embed link always shows the latest capture, which you can drop into a dashboard. A prospect sheet built from websites: Create a Domain Research Report crawls a list of domains and fills up to 100 data fields you describe, then Find a Domain Research Report brings the results back into the Zap.

What Zapier does not do here. None of the three triggers is instant: Zapier goes to check PagePixels on a timer, so a change is picked up at the next check, not the second it happens. There is no action that deletes a screenshot or a configuration. And a Zap never goes back in time: screenshots taken before you switch it on stay where they are.

If you are weighing tools, the same app is covered on the PagePixels Screenshots Make integration page, and the Zapier review lays out the platform as a whole.

Vocabulary

Zapier words in one minute

Eight words come back on every line of this page. Here they are once, in ordinary language.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one starting event, then one or more steps that run each time that event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier sits and waits for it to come up.
Action
What the Zap does once it has started: the step that captures, writes, sends or moves something on your behalf.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully, and your plan counts those.
Polling vs instant
A polling trigger is checked on a timer. An instant trigger is pushed to Zapier by the app itself, with no wait.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Search step
A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the steps after it can reuse what it found.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A second action, a filter or a search makes one, and it needs a paid plan.
Cost

What it really costs to run

PagePixels Screenshots is not a premium app on Zapier, so it works from the free plan. The meter that matters is the task count.

  • Premium appNo, free plan works
  • Trigger0 tasks
  • Successful action1 task each
  • Free plan100 tasks a month, 2 steps

The trigger costs nothing, however often Zapier checks. Each action that succeeds counts as one task, and a failed one is not counted. The free plan gives you 100 tasks a month and checks polling triggers every 15 minutes, but it only builds two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. Add a filter, a search or a second action and the Zap needs a paid plan. On top of that, PagePixels keeps its own monthly limits for screenshots, geolocated captures and AI analyses.

Connect

Connect PagePixels Screenshots to Zapier in 3 steps

  1. 01

    Open your Apps page

In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account. That is where every connection lives: your account of an app, linked once, then reused by every step that touches it.

  2. 02

    Add the connection

Click + Add connection, type PagePixels Screenshots in the dialog, pick it, then click Add connection. You need a PagePixels account before you start.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to PagePixels in the tab that opens and let Zapier access the account. From then on, any Zap can pick this connection from a list instead of asking you to log in again.

First Zap

Your first Zap: an AI summary each time a watched page changes

GoalWhen PagePixels spots a change on a page you watch, take a fresh capture, have the AI describe what the page now shows, and post that summary to your team channel.

  1. 01

    Build: pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose PagePixels Screenshots, then the New Change Notification event, and select your connection. You can limit it to the screenshot configurations you care about.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from your account, so you map the next steps on a real change rather than an empty shell.

  3. 03

    Add the AI capture

Add Take a Screenshot of a Web Page and Analyze the Image With AI. Map the page address into Website URL, and write the AI Prompt: what to describe, in a few lines.

  4. 04

    Add the message

Add a third step that posts the AI answer to your team channel. This step makes it a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test each step once and read what came back. When it looks right, click Publish to switch the Zap on. Only changes after that moment will start it.

Triggers

The 3 PagePixels Screenshots triggers

3 events start a Zap when something happens in PagePixels Screenshots. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

New Change Notification

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the content of a page has changed since the last screenshot, optionally limited to specific screenshot configurations.”

Starts your Zap when the content of a page differs from what PagePixels saw in its previous capture. You can narrow it to one or several screenshot configurations, so a noisy page does not drown the rest.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
a pricing page, a terms page or a job board you want to hear about only when something on it actually moves.
Watch out
it relies on configurations that capture the page more than once, so set the schedule and change notifications when you create the configuration.
2

New Screenshot

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new screenshot is taken, optionally limited to a specific Screenshot Configuration.”

Fires on every capture PagePixels takes, either across the whole account or for one screenshot configuration you pick. Each run hands the Zap that capture, ready for the next step to file, share or analyze.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
filing each capture of a client homepage in a shared folder, so the team has a dated visual history without anyone saving images by hand.
Watch out
without a configuration selected it reacts to every capture in the account, and each action behind it costs a task.
3

New Screenshot Configuration

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new screenshot configuration is created.”

Reacts when someone sets up a new screenshot configuration in PagePixels, meaning a new page to capture with its own settings. It is the setup event, not the capture itself.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one
When to use it
logging each new monitored page in a tracking sheet, so you always know which sites the account watches and since when.
Watch out
a Zap that creates configurations with Create a Recurring Screenshot would start this trigger again, and loop.
Actions

The 10 PagePixels Screenshots actions

PagePixels Screenshots gives you 10 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Analyze Any Image With AI

Action

In Zapier“Generates an AI visual analysis of any image guided by your text prompt. Submit up to 5 images and 5 prompts. Useful for comparing multiple images, tracking changes, monitoring visual regressions, and extracting text.”

Sends up to 5 existing images and up to 5 prompts to the AI, which compares them, reads text off them or spots differences.

When to use it
comparing yesterday's and today's capture of a product page to flag a visual regression.
Watch out
each image and each prompt counts as its own AI analysis request on PagePixels, and files over 8MB are refused.
2

Create a Domain Research Report

Action

In Zapier“Initiates a new Domain Research Report request. This action can help automate structured data extraction from domains and websites. Provide a list of URLs and request up to 100 custom data fields for extraction (e.g. email, company details, product info) guided by your AI prompts.”

Starts a research job on one or more domains: PagePixels crawls them and extracts the data you describe, up to 100 fields, each guided by a short AI instruction.

When to use it
enriching a list of target companies with a contact address and a product line taken from their sites.
Watch out
the report is not ready when the step ends; fetch it later with a search.
3

Create a Recurring Screenshot

Action

In Zapier“Creates a screenshot configuration. The configuration can include a recurring schedule and change notifications. You will receive the Embed URL as a part of the response. The Embed URL will always display the latest screenshot image taken for the configuration, so it can be used on public websites, dashboards, and internal systems without worrying about API keys or any other configuration parameters.”

Sets up a screenshot configuration: the page, its capture options, and optionally a schedule and change notifications. You get back an embed link that always shows the newest capture.

When to use it
adding each new competitor from your sheet to PagePixels monitoring without opening the app.
Watch out
it creates a new configuration every run, so duplicates pile up if the trigger repeats.
4

Find a Screenshot Configuration and Capture Next Screenshot

Action

In Zapier“Finds an existing screenshot configuration in your PagePixels account and captures a new screenshot for it (regardless of its scheduled interval).”

Looks up an existing configuration by its ID and takes a capture straight away, outside its usual schedule.

When to use it
forcing a fresh capture of your homepage right after a deploy notice lands in another app.
Watch out
the configuration ID is required, so the configuration must already exist in the account.
5

Get Account Limits

Action

In Zapier“Retrieves the current monthly screenshot, real locations, and AI analysis limits and usage information for your account.”

Reads where your PagePixels account stands this month: screenshot, real-location and AI analysis limits, with what has been used so far.

When to use it
a check at the start of a heavy Zap, so you can stop it before the quota runs dry.
Watch out
it is billed as an action like the others, so every run costs a task.
6

Get HTML Code of a Website

Action

In Zapier“Downloads the raw HTML source code of a website (instead of taking a screenshot). Optimized for websites that dynamically generate their HTML using JavaScript.”

Downloads the source of a page instead of an image, including pages that build their content with JavaScript in the browser.

When to use it
keeping a text copy of a supplier's terms page next to its screenshot, so you can search it later.
Watch out
you get raw code, so a later step has to make sense of it before anyone reads it.
7

Take a Screenshot of a Web Page

Action

In Zapier“Creates an instant screenshot of a web page from a URL.”

Captures any page from its address right now, once, with options to scroll the full length, hide ads, trackers and cookie banners, or switch off scripts.

When to use it
attaching a capture of a lead's website to the record your sales team opens.
Watch out
pages that load as you scroll may need the Incremental Scroll option, which can take up to 10 seconds.
8

Take a Screenshot of a Web Page and Analyze the Image With AI

Action

In Zapier“Captures a web page screenshot and runs an AI visual analysis based on your prompt. Useful for extracting data, generating summaries, or querying the website’s content.”

Captures a page, then has an AI read the image and answer the prompt you wrote: summarize it, pull a figure out, describe what is on screen.

When to use it
turning a watched page into a two-line summary your team reads in their channel.
Watch out
the AI Prompt is mandatory and stops at 2000 characters, so keep the question tight.
9

Take a Screenshot of Custom HTML

Action

In Zapier“Creates a screenshot from any custom HTML. This is great for screenshotting new emails, creating custom reports, and more.”

Turns a block of HTML you supply into an image, with no live page involved. The only required input is that HTML.

When to use it
making a picture of a newsletter or a generated report so it can be previewed in a chat tool that does not render HTML.
Watch out
unless you set Full Page, only what fits in the default frame gets captured.
10

Take a Real Geolocation Screenshot of a Web Page

Action

In Zapier“Captures a screenshot from real geolocations around the world. Screenshots are taken through a proxy network of rotating residential IP addresses within the geographical location you specify. Choose from hundreds of countries and any US State for your geolocation testing needs.”

Shoots the page as a visitor from a chosen place would see it, through residential addresses in that location. You can pick from hundreds of countries and any US state.

When to use it
checking that an ad landing page shows the right prices and language in each market you sell to.
Watch out
these captures count against a separate real-locations limit on your PagePixels account.
Searches

The 4 PagePixels Screenshots searches

4 search steps look for data that already exists in PagePixels Screenshots, so a later step can use it.

Searches sit at the bottom of the event list, under the SEARCH heading of Action event. They fetch what already exists in PagePixels and hand it to the next steps. Adding one makes the Zap multi-step. Three settings decide what happens when the result is not the expected one.

1

Check a Domain Research Report Status

Search

In Zapier“Retrieves the status of a Domain Research Report request. Returns progress and completion details.”

Tells you how far a research report has got, with its progress and whether it has finished.

When to use it
just before fetching results, paired with a filter that only lets the Zap continue once the job is done.
Watch out
it needs the Report Job ID returned when the report was created, so keep it in an earlier step.
2

Find All Domain Research Reports

Search

In Zapier“Retrieves all Domain Research Reports for your account (up to 1000). Optionally limit results by created at date.”

Lists the research reports on your account, up to 1000, with the option to keep only those created from a given date.

When to use it
a recap Zap that gathers the reports produced since a cut-off date into one sheet.
Watch out
without a date limit you can get a long batch back, so decide how multiple results are handled.
3

Find a Domain Research Report

Search

In Zapier“Retrieves a completed Domain Research Report. Returns the name, status, and results for the report.”

Brings back one finished report: its name, its status and the extracted results, ready to map into your CRM or a sheet.

When to use it
as the closing step of an enrichment Zap that started with Create a Domain Research Report.
Watch out
it only returns completed reports, and it needs the Report Job ID.
4

Find Latest Screenshot

Search

In Zapier“Finds the latest screenshot on the account or from a given Screenshot Configuration”

Grabs the most recent capture, either from the whole account or from one screenshot configuration you name.

When to use it
adding the current look of a page to a status email triggered by another app.
Watch out
on a busy account, set a configuration, or you may get a capture of another page.

The three settings every search exposes

  1. Successful if no search results are found?
Left as is, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap and skips the steps that depended on it. Switched on, the Zap goes on empty-handed.
  2. Create X if it doesn't exist yet?
This box turns a search into a find-or-create. None of the four PagePixels searches offers it, so you will not see it here.
  3. If multiple search results are found?
Keep the first match, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass every match on at once.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier attaches no help article to this app, so the known traps are the ones every Zap shares. With screenshots, they bite in specific ways.

Read these before you publish. If a Zap is already misbehaving, the Zapier troubleshooting guide walks through the usual suspects.

  • Old screenshots are never picked up

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Captures and reports that existed before stay out of it, and moving that backlog is a separate job.
  • A Zap that feeds its own trigger

New Screenshot Configuration followed by Create a Recurring Screenshot starts itself again and again, and burns through your task count fast.
  • A sudden wave can be held back

If a trigger returns a huge batch at once, for instance after importing many configurations, Zapier's flood protection can hold the run back.
  • The same capture never runs twice

Zapier remembers what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so re-checking does not start the Zap again on the same screenshot.

FAQ

PagePixels Screenshots Zapier integration: questions

01Is the PagePixels Screenshots Zapier integration free?
Yes, on the Zapier side it works on the free plan, because PagePixels Screenshots is not a premium app. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and checks triggers every 15 minutes. Its real limit is shape: a free Zap has one trigger and one action, nothing more. Once you add a filter, a search or a second action, you need a paid Zapier plan. PagePixels also applies its own monthly limits on screenshots, geolocated captures and AI analyses, which you can read with the Get Account Limits action.
02How many tasks does a PagePixels Zap use?
One task per action that succeeds, and nothing for the trigger. A Zap that captures a page on each change uses one task per run; add the AI analysis as a separate step and it is two. A failed action is not counted. Checking PagePixels for new screenshots costs nothing either, whatever the interval. Keep in mind that tasks are only the Zapier meter: on the PagePixels side, each image and each prompt sent to the AI counts as its own analysis request.
03Is PagePixels Screenshots on Zapier real time?
No. All three triggers work by polling: Zapier checks PagePixels at a fixed interval and only keeps what it has not seen yet. On the free plan that check runs every 15 minutes, on Professional every 2 minutes, and on Team and Enterprise every minute. So a change on a watched page reaches your Zap at the next check, not the moment PagePixels detects it. On paid plans you can also run a check by hand from the editor when you are testing.
04What does it take to connect PagePixels Screenshots to Zapier?
A PagePixels account, and a Zapier account. From the Apps page in Zapier, click + Add connection, search for PagePixels Screenshots, click Add connection, then sign in to PagePixels and grant access. The connection is saved once and every Zap reuses it. If you plan to use steps that point at existing items, such as capturing an existing configuration or reading a report, create those items first, since the steps ask for their ID.
05Why does one AI analysis eat several PagePixels requests?
Because PagePixels counts each image and each prompt separately. Analyze Any Image With AI accepts up to 5 images and up to 5 prompts, and every one of them is an individual AI analysis request on your PagePixels account. A step with several images and several prompts therefore uses far more of your monthly AI quota than a single capture with one question. Start small, then run Get Account Limits to see how much a run actually consumed.
06What if the PagePixels operation you need is not in Zapier?
Then the 17 operations on this page are the full set Zapier offers for the app, and anything else has to happen in PagePixels itself or in another tool. Often a combination covers it: Create a Recurring Screenshot sets up the schedule, Find a Screenshot Configuration and Capture Next Screenshot forces a capture, and the searches bring reports or captures back. If the gap is real, it is worth checking whether the step belongs in the Zap at all.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for PagePixels Screenshots?
Decide on criteria rather than on a ranking. First, the shape of your flow: on Zapier, anything beyond one trigger and one action needs a paid plan. Second, timing: all three PagePixels triggers are polled, every 15 minutes on Zapier's free plan. Third, volume: every successful action is a task, and AI steps also draw on your PagePixels quota. Put the same three questions to each tool, with your real number of captures per month.
