What the Parma Zapier integration does for your relationships
The Parma Zapier integration links your Parma account to Zapier. Parma is a lightweight CRM built to remember who your customers are, what they care about and when you last spoke. Through Zapier, a new relationship in Parma can start work elsewhere, and other tools can add relationships and notes to Parma for you.
Three results are worth building. Context captured at the source: a meeting tool or a form starts a Zap, Find Relationship locates the person in Parma, and Create Note writes what happened on their record. New contacts filed in the right place: a sign-up arrives in another app, Find Group returns the group it belongs to, and Create Relationship adds the contact or company to Parma with its name, type and group. And a heads-up for the team: New Relationship starts a Zap each time someone is added to Parma, so a message or a row can follow in the tools your team already reads.
Now the limits. There is no step to update or delete a relationship, and nothing to edit a note once written. The only trigger is polling, so a new relationship reaches Zapier on its next check, not the instant it is saved. And any Zap that uses a search is multi-step, which means a paid plan.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight words from the editor, explained once here and reused as is below.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it, here a new relationship in Parma.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something for you, like a note in Parma.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The number on your plan counts those.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval. Parma's only trigger works this way.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself the moment the event happens, so nothing waits. Parma offers none on Zapier.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Search step
- A step that looks up something that already exists in an app, so the next steps can reuse what it found.
What a Parma Zap costs
Parma is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan. The trigger never costs a task, and neither does any check Zapier runs on your account.
- Trigger and checksFree
- Each successful action1 task
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps
- A Zap with a searchMulti-step, paid plan
Each action that succeeds is one task, and a failed one is not counted. A Zap that writes one note per new relationship uses one task per relationship. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and checks every 15 minutes, but only two-step Zaps: one trigger, one action. Add Find Group or Find Relationship, a filter, or a second action, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan on Zapier.
Connect Parma to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Parma account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Parma step in every Zap you build.
- 02
Choose Parma
Search for Parma in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens where Parma asks you to sign in with your own account, the one that holds your relationships.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to Parma and allow Zapier to reach the account. You need a Parma account, plus write access on any relationship or group you do not own yourself but want a Zap to touch.
Your first Parma Zap
GoalEach new relationship in Parma gets a first note, with a filter so that only the ones you care about are annotated.
- 01
Pick the trigger
Create a Zap, choose Parma as the app and New Relationship as the event, then select the Parma connection you added a moment ago.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent relationships of your account, so you build the next steps on a real contact or company.
- 03
Add the filter
Add a Filter from the plus icon, then set the field, the rule and the value. This makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan; leave it out on the free one.
- 04
Add Create Note
Add Parma with Create Note. Map the relationship coming from the trigger into Relationships, then write the note body, mixing fixed text and values from the trigger.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the step, open Parma to check the note landed on the right record, then click Publish. Only relationships created after that moment will start it.
The Parma trigger
1 event starts a Zap when something happens in Parma. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.
New Relationship
Polling triggerIn Zapier“Triggers when a new relationship (contact or company) is created.”
Starts the Zap each time a relationship is created in Parma, whether it is a contact or a company. From there, the new record can be announced to the team, copied into a spreadsheet, or given a first note, without anyone having to remember to do it.
Parma actions
Parma gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Note
ActionIn Zapier“Create a Note in Parma”
Writes a note on one or more existing relationships, which is where Parma keeps the memory of what you discussed and what the person likes.
Create Relationship
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a Relationship”
Adds a new contact or company to Parma from data that started in another app, with its name, its type and the groups it belongs to.
Parma searches, and what happens when they find nothing
2 search steps look for data that already exists in Parma, so a later step can use it.
Searches sit at the bottom of the action list in the editor, under SEARCH. Any Zap that uses one is multi-step, so it needs a paid plan. Each search behaves according to three settings.
Find Group
SearchIn Zapier“Finds a Group in the Parma”
Looks up an existing group in Parma and hands it to the next steps, which is how Create Relationship gets the group it requires from a plain label.
Find Relationship
SearchIn Zapier“Finds a Relationship in Parma”
Finds a relationship that already exists in Parma, so the steps that follow act on the right contact or company rather than creating a duplicate.
The three settings every search exposes
- Successful if no search results are found?Left on its default, a search that finds nothing stops the Zap there and the steps that depended on it are skipped. Switched on, the Zap goes on empty-handed.
- Create X if it doesn't exist yet? This is the box that turns a search into find-or-create. Parma exposes no such variant for Find Group or Find Relationship, so you will not find it here.
- If multiple search results are found?Three ways out when several items match: keep the first one, which is the default, stop the Zap, or pass all of them on at once.
When a Parma Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to Parma, so the cases below come from Zapier's general rules and from the fields Parma requires.
Most problems show up in the setup, not in Parma itself. If a Zap is already misbehaving, our Zapier troubleshooting page is the place to start.
Existing relationships never show up
A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Relationships already in Parma stay out, and moving that backlog is a separate job.One contact turns into dozens
New Relationship followed by Create Relationship writes where the trigger watches. Each new record starts the Zap again, and tasks drain fast.A big import is held back
When the trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after importing a whole contact list for example, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back. The search stops the Zap
Find Group or Find Relationship found nothing and the setting was left on its default, so every step that needed the result was skipped.
