Overview

What the PayKickstart Zapier integration is really for

The PayKickstart Zapier integration connects your PayKickstart checkout to Zapier, a tool that chains steps between apps without code. PayKickstart only speaks first here: it reports what happens in your carts, subscriptions and affiliate program, and the steps that follow run in your other tools.

A rescued sale instead of a lost one. Cart Abandoned fires when a prospect leaves the checkout without paying, so your email or messaging tool can follow up while the product is still on their mind.

Subscriptions that keep your other tools honest. Subscription Created, Subscription Cancelled and Rebill Failure keep a CRM, a community platform or a members' area in line with who actually pays.

An affiliate program that runs itself. New Affiliate Approved and New Commission can welcome each new partner and log every commission they earn, without exporting reports by hand.

What Zapier does not do here: there is no PayKickstart action and no search. A Zap cannot create an order, refund a buyer or edit a subscription in PayKickstart. It can only react to what PayKickstart reports, then act elsewhere.

To judge the tool itself, read our Zapier review. The n8n vs Zapier comparison is there too.

Vocabulary

The Zapier vocabulary in one minute

Seven terms in plain words. The page uses them afterwards without explaining them again.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time that event happens.
Trigger
The PayKickstart event that starts the Zap, such as a new order. Once the Zap is on, Zapier waits for it.
Action
What the Zap does once started. With PayKickstart, every action runs in another app: a sheet, a CRM, an inbox.
Task
What Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The allowance on your plan is a count of those.
Instant vs polling
An instant trigger is reported by the app itself, with no wait. A polling one is checked by Zapier on a timer. PayKickstart only has instant ones.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap carry on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your PayKickstart account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Zap that starts on a PayKickstart event.
Cost

What a PayKickstart Zap costs

The trigger never costs a task, and PayKickstart is only ever a trigger here. Every task you pay for is an action in another app.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
  • TriggerNever costs a task
  • Premium appNo, works on the free plan
  • Instant triggers18 of 18, the grid does not apply

Each action that succeeds counts as one task, so a Zap that logs an order and then emails your team uses two per order. A failed action is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, limited to two steps: one trigger, one action. A filter or a second action makes it a multi-step Zap, which needs a paid plan. PayKickstart is open on the free plan, and since all 18 triggers are instant, the polling grid below never slows them down.

Connect

Connect your PayKickstart account in three steps

  1. 01

    Open the Apps page

In your Zapier account, go to Apps and click + Add connection. You need a PayKickstart account, and access to anything you do not own yourself but want a Zap to watch.

  2. 02

    Pick PayKickstart

Type PayKickstart in the search box of the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. A new tab opens on the PayKickstart side so you can sign in.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Sign in to PayKickstart in that tab and allow Zapier into the account. The connection is saved, and every Zap that starts on a PayKickstart event reuses it.

First Zap

Your first PayKickstart Zap, step by step

GoalEach new order is checked against a condition, then logged as a row in a shared spreadsheet.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose PayKickstart as the app and New Order as the event, select your connection, then choose the Campaign the Zap should watch.

  2. 02

    Test on a real order

Run the trigger test. Zapier brings back the three most recent orders of the connected account, so the next steps are mapped on real data, not a guess.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Add a Filter from the plus icon, then set the field to look at, the rule and the value. Pick a number rule for numbers, a text rule for text.

  4. 04

    Add the action

Add the spreadsheet action and map the order data from the trigger into its columns. This step, not the trigger, is what costs a task.

  5. 05

    Test and publish

Test each step, read what came back, then publish to switch the Zap on. With a filter it is a multi-step Zap, so it needs a paid plan.

Triggers

The 18 PayKickstart triggers in Zapier

18 events start a Zap when something happens in PayKickstart, and 18 of them are instant: the app calls Zapier straight away, whatever your plan.

1

New Affiliate Approved

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new affiliate is approved.”

Starts a Zap when you approve a new affiliate in PayKickstart. It turns an approval click into the first step of onboarding a partner.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send each approved affiliate a welcome email with their resources, or add them to a partners list in your email tool.
Watch out
the trigger is tied to the Campaign you pick, so partners approved on another campaign will not reach this Zap.
2

Cart Abandoned

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a potential customer leaves the checkout page without purchasing.”

Reacts when a potential customer leaves the checkout page without buying. Zapier highlights it among the PayKickstart triggers, and for good reason: it is where lost revenue shows up first.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
push the prospect into a recovery sequence in your email platform, or alert a sales rep for high-ticket offers.
Watch out
a recovery message sent by a Zap cannot be recalled, so test the sequence on your own address before publishing.
3

Credit Card Expiring

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a credit card expiring.”

Tells Zapier that a customer's credit card is about to expire. It gives you a chance to act before a renewal fails rather than after.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send a friendly reminder to update the card, or open a task for whoever looks after key accounts.
Watch out
pair it with Payment Details Updated if you want to know which reminders actually worked.
4

Order Fulfillment Update

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a order fulfilment is updated.”

Fires when the fulfillment status of an order changes. For anyone shipping physical goods or delivering access by hand, this is the event that keeps everyone in the loop.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
update the matching row in an operations sheet, or post the change to the team handling deliveries.
Watch out
one order can go through several updates, and each one that runs an action uses a task.
5

New Commission

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new commission is created.”

Runs each time PayKickstart creates a commission for an affiliate. It is the raw material of any payout report you keep outside the platform.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
log every commission in a shared sheet, or let the affiliate know they just earned one.
Watch out
a refund later on does not undo the row you created, so watch New Refund too if your books must balance.
6

New Failed Transaction

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the payment fails for an order.”

A buyer's payment failed on an order: that is the event behind this trigger. The name says transaction, but the event is a buyer who tried to pay and did not get through.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
reach the buyer while they are still motivated, with a message offering another way to pay.
Watch out
it is not the same event as Rebill Failure, which covers a renewal on an existing subscription.
7

New Lead

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new lead is added.”

Every lead added in PayKickstart starts this Zap, before any money changes hands. It is the earliest point in your funnel this integration can see.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
create the contact in your CRM or email list so nurturing begins straight away.
Watch out
a lead who later buys will start New Order too, so avoid creating the same contact twice.
8

New Order

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new order is made.”

The workhorse of the integration: each new order made through PayKickstart starts the Zap. Zapier puts it forward among the app's triggers.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
grant access to a course, add the buyer to a customer list or log the sale for accounting.
Watch out
orders placed before the Zap was published never come through, so import your history another way.
9

New Refund

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new refund is made.”

Fires whenever a refund is made. It is how the rest of your stack learns that a sale has been reversed.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
remove access to a product, tag the contact in your CRM, or flag the refund for finance.
Watch out
Zapier cannot issue refunds in PayKickstart, it only hears about them once they are done.
10

New Trial

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a trial is started.”

Reacts when someone starts a trial. For software or membership offers, it opens the window where onboarding matters most.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
enrol the trial user in an onboarding sequence, or let a success manager know a new account is warming up.
Watch out
plan the other end too, with Trial End, or trial users stay in your onboarding list forever.
11

Payment Details Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the payment details for a subscription are updated.”

This one goes off when the payment details of a subscription are updated, for instance after you asked a customer to replace a card.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
stop a dunning sequence in your email tool, or close the follow-up task opened by a failed rebill.
Watch out
like every PayKickstart trigger it listens to one Campaign, so a card fixed on another campaign never reaches this Zap.
12

Rebill Failure

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a rebill is failed.”

A renewal charge that fails on a subscription is what this trigger reports. Of all the PayKickstart events, it is the one most directly tied to churn you can still prevent.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
send the subscriber a note asking them to update their card, and alert the account owner.
Watch out
a reminder Zap with no condition writes after every failed renewal, so add a filter if some customers are handled by hand.
13

Rebill Success

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a rebill is success.”

Fires when a renewal charge goes through. Quiet good news, but useful for anyone who tracks recurring revenue outside PayKickstart.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
extend access in a members' area, or add the payment to a revenue sheet.
Watch out
on a large subscriber base this fires often, and every action it runs eats into your monthly tasks.
14

Subscription Cancelled

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is cancelled.”

Cancellations land here: each subscription that is cancelled starts the Zap. It is the signal to clean up access and, sometimes, to try one last conversation.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
revoke access to a community, tag the contact as a former customer, or send an exit survey.
Watch out
if a Zap of yours also cancels subscriptions elsewhere, make sure it does not loop back into this trigger.
15

Subscription Changed

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is changed.”

Plan switches and other edits to a subscription start this Zap, for example when a customer switches to another plan you offer.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
keep the plan level in your CRM or members' area in line with what the customer now pays for.
Watch out
do not confuse it with Subscription Updated, which, despite its name, covers a reactivation.
16

Subscription Created

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is created.”

Each new subscription created in PayKickstart sets this one off. Zapier highlights it among the app's triggers, and most recurring-revenue Zaps begin here.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
open an account in your members' platform and welcome the subscriber with the right onboarding.
Watch out
the Zap only sees subscriptions created after publishing, so existing subscribers need a separate import.
17

Subscription Updated

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a subscription is reactivated.”

Despite the label, PayKickstart describes this trigger as firing when a subscription is reactivated. Read it as a comeback signal.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
restore access for a returning customer, and remove them from any win-back sequence they were in.
Watch out
run a test before relying on it, so you see exactly which events in your account reach it.
18

Trial End

Instant trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a trial is ended.”

Once a trial is over, this trigger goes off. It closes the loop opened by New Trial and is the natural moment to ask for a decision.

How it fires
the app tells Zapier the moment it happens, so the Zap starts right away, whatever your plan
When to use it
move the user out of onboarding and into a conversion or feedback sequence.
Watch out
trials that started before the Zap was switched on still end here, while their New Trial never reached Zapier.
When it breaks

When a PayKickstart Zap breaks

Zapier links no help article to PayKickstart, and no limit specific to the app is documented. What goes wrong is what goes wrong on any Zap.

  • History is never picked up

A Zap only reacts to orders, leads or subscriptions created after it is switched on. Anything older stays in PayKickstart, and moving it is a separate job.
  • A Zap that feeds itself

A Zap that writes into the very place its trigger watches sets itself off again and again, and burns through the task count fast.
  • A sudden flood is held back

After a bulk import or a big launch, a trigger that suddenly returns a huge batch can be held back by Zapier's flood protection.
  • Duplicates handled on polling only

Zapier's memory of items already seen applies to polling triggers. All PayKickstart triggers are instant, so guard against repeats in your own steps.

FAQ

PayKickstart Zapier integration: frequent questions

01Is the PayKickstart Zapier integration free?
Yes, it works on the free plan, because PayKickstart is not one of the premium apps that Zapier keeps for paid plans. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The limit is the shape of each Zap: one trigger and one action, nothing more. Add a filter to keep only some orders, or a second action, and the Zap becomes multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Since PayKickstart only offers triggers, the action always belongs to another app, and that app may have its own plan rules.
02How many tasks does a PayKickstart Zap use?
None for PayKickstart itself, because a trigger never costs a task. You pay one task for each action that succeeds in the steps that follow. A Zap that adds every new order to a sheet uses one task per order; if it also notifies your team, two. An action that fails is not counted. Busy events such as Rebill Success or Order Fulfillment Update can add up quickly on a large customer base, so start with the events that truly need a reaction.
03Is PayKickstart on Zapier real time?
Yes. All 18 PayKickstart triggers are instant: PayKickstart tells Zapier the moment an event happens, and the Zap starts straight away, whatever your plan. The polling grid of 15 minutes on Free, 2 minutes on Professional and 1 minute on Team and Enterprise does not apply to any of them. In the editor, a Zap built on an instant trigger shows a lightning bolt. Instant does not mean retroactive, though: the Zap only reacts to events that happen after you switch it on.
04What does it take to connect PayKickstart to Zapier?
A PayKickstart account, plus access to anything you do not own yourself but want a Zap to watch. The connection is made once from the Apps page of Zapier with + Add connection: you sign in to PayKickstart in the tab that opens and grant access. After that every Zap reuses it. One more requirement shows up when you build: every trigger asks for a Campaign, and the field is required, so at least one campaign must exist in your PayKickstart account first.
05Why does a PayKickstart trigger ask for a Campaign?
Because the Campaign field is required on every one of the 18 triggers. Each Zap is set to listen to the campaign you choose, which keeps an order Zap for one offer from firing on sales of another. The trap is the reverse: if you sell through several campaigns and pick only one, the other campaigns stay silent and nothing tells you so. Write down which campaign each Zap watches, and test with a real order from each one before you rely on it.
06What if the PayKickstart operation you need is missing?
Then Zapier cannot do it with PayKickstart, and no setting will reveal it. The integration offers 18 triggers and no action or search: a Zap cannot create an order, refund a buyer, change a subscription or look up a customer in PayKickstart. Those jobs stay in the PayKickstart dashboard. What Zapier does well here is react to events and carry them to other tools. If writing into PayKickstart is central to your process, compare what other automation tools offer for it first.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for PayKickstart?
Decide on criteria rather than a ranking. On Zapier, PayKickstart offers 18 instant triggers, no action and no search, and it works on the free plan with Zaps limited to two steps. So the questions are: do you only need to react to PayKickstart events, or also write back into it? Does the other tool cover the same events, especially rebills, abandoned carts and commissions? And how does each tool bill a run with several steps? The answer to the first question usually settles it.
