PleaseSign Zapier integrationAutomate PleaseSign with Zapier.
The PleaseSign Zapier integration has 0 triggers and 1 action: it turns one of your templates into a new document addressed to the recipient you name, started by an event in another app. Here is how it works, what it costs, and what trips it up.

What the PleaseSign Zapier integration does
PleaseSign is a digital signing tool built for documents several people take part in, in a set order. On Zapier it offers one move: create a document from one of your templates, addressed to the recipient you name, with your message. Something in another app has to start it, because PleaseSign itself starts nothing.
Three results people get out of it. A contract that leaves when the deal closes: your CRM marks a deal as won and Create Document From Template (Separate Recipients) creates the sales agreement from your template, addressed to the client. An onboarding pack for each new hire: a row added to your HR sheet creates the employment document for the new starter, in the role the template gives them. A form answer turned into a consent document: a booking or registration form creates the matching consent document from its template without anyone opening PleaseSign.
Now the honest part. Zapier cannot watch PleaseSign: there is no trigger, so no Zap can react to a document being signed, declined or completed. There is no search either, so you cannot look up a document or a template from a Zap. Everything hinges on a template that already exists in PleaseSign, with its roles set up.

Zapier vocabulary in one minute
Eight words from the editor, each in one line. They all come back further down.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event that starts the Zap. With PleaseSign it always comes from another app, such as your CRM or a form.
- Action
- What the Zap does once started: the step that writes or sends something for you. Here, creating a document from a template.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. Your plan's count is a count of those.
- Polling trigger
- A trigger Zapier checks on a timer, asking the app for new items at a fixed interval and keeping only the new ones.
- Instant trigger
- A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens, so nothing waits for the next check.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets your condition, and stops it quietly otherwise.
- Connection
- Your PleaseSign account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that creates a document from it.
What a PleaseSign Zap really costs
PleaseSign is not a premium app, so it works on the free plan. Zapier bills tasks, and only successful actions count.
- Trigger (other app)Free, never counted
- Document created1 task each
- Action that failsNot counted
- Free plan100 tasks a month, two-step Zaps only
The trigger in the other app never costs a task. Each document that PleaseSign creates through the Zap costs one; an action that fails costs nothing. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and builds two-step Zaps only: one trigger, one action. A trigger plus the PleaseSign action fits exactly. Add a filter to create documents only for certain deals, and it becomes a multi-step Zap that needs a paid plan. The interval grid below applies to the other app's trigger when it is a polling one.
Connect PleaseSign to Zapier in three steps
- 01
Open your connections
In Zapier, go to the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. You do this once; every PleaseSign step will reuse the same connection afterwards.
- 02
Pick PleaseSign
Search for PleaseSign in the dialog, select it, then click Add connection. You need an existing PleaseSign account, with at least one template in it, before going further.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Log in to PleaseSign in the tab that opens and allow Zapier in. If the templates you plan to use were made by a colleague, check that your account can open and use them.
Your first PleaseSign Zap
GoalCreate your service agreement from its template each time a deal reaches the won stage in your CRM.
- 01
Start on your CRM
Build: choose your CRM as the app that starts the Zap and pick its deal stage event. PleaseSign has no trigger, so the start always lives in another tool.
- 02
Test the trigger
Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items from the CRM account, so you map the next steps on a real deal and a real client contact.
- 03
Keep only won deals
From the plus icon, add Filter: the stage field, a text rule, and the value your CRM uses for won deals. The filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.
- 04
Add the PleaseSign action
Add Create Document From Template (Separate Recipients), enter the Template ID, write a Title and a Message, and fill Recipient 1 with the client's role, name and email.
- 05
Test, then publish
Test the step once with your own email as recipient, read what came back, then click Publish. Each contract created from then on costs one task.
The PleaseSign action
PleaseSign gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Create Document From Template (Separate Recipients)
ActionIn Zapier“Creates a document based on a template”
Creates a document from a PleaseSign template, with a title and your message, addressed to each recipient separately: a role, a name and an email each. The optional routing number sets the signing order, lowest first.
When a PleaseSign Zap breaks
Zapier links no help article to PleaseSign. What goes wrong here comes from Zapier's general limits, applied to documents created from a template.
Four cases to know before you publish. When one shows up, the Zapier troubleshooting page is the place to continue.
Past deals get no contract
A Zap only reacts to events after it is switched on. Deals already won before that never get a document, and catching them up is a separate job.A bulk import floods the action
Importing a batch of deals or rows at once can return a huge batch to the trigger. Zapier's flood protection can then hold them back instead of creating a document for each. The same record twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier remembers what it has already seen, so the same deal or row does not create the same contract twice.A loop through your own sheet
If a later step writes into the sheet or list the trigger watches, the Zap sets itself off again and again, and every round creates a document.
