Overview

What the Plezi Zapier integration does for your pipeline

Plezi is a marketing automation tool for B2B teams, built around one idea: your white papers, guides and other content are what bring the leads in. Connected to Zapier, it works both ways. Moves in Plezi (a new contact, a download, a score or status change) can start a Zap, and other tools can feed contacts and events back into Plezi.

Three outcomes worth building first. Sales alerts on real intent: Contact Score Changed fires when a lead reaches the score you set, so the sales team hears about them at the right time, not at random. A clean hand-off to the CRM: Contact Status Changed catches leads that move to the status you choose and pushes them to the tool where deals live. Offline activity that counts: Add Event to Contact records a webinar attendance or a trade-show scan on the Plezi contact, with points added to their score.

What Zapier does not do for Plezi. There is no search step, so a Zap cannot look up a Plezi contact and read their details before acting. Only two actions exist: you cannot remove a contact, change a content or start a campaign from a Zap. All five triggers work by polling, so nothing arrives the instant it happens in Plezi. And the download trigger watches one content at a time.

If you want help setting it up, there is a Zapier agency team for that.

Vocabulary

Zapier words, in plain English

Eight words, and the rest of the page reads without a dictionary.

Zap
The automation you build: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event that starts the Zap. For Plezi: a new contact, a download, or a change of score, status or contact data.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or updates something for you, in Plezi or elsewhere.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those.
Polling trigger
A trigger Zapier checks on a timer: it asks Plezi for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only unseen ones.
Instant trigger
A trigger the app reports itself, the moment the event happens. None of the five Plezi triggers work this way.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when the incoming item meets your condition, and stops it otherwise.
Connection
Your Plezi account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every Plezi step in every Zap you build.
Cost

What it really costs

Plezi is not a premium app, so it runs on the free plan. Its five triggers never cost a task, and Zapier checking Plezi for new items is free too, however often it looks.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Zap size on free2 steps: one trigger, one action
  • Trigger cost0 tasks
  • Premium appNo

One task per action that succeeds. A Zap that posts a sales alert for each hot lead costs one task per lead. A Zap that creates the contact in Plezi and then adds an event to it costs two. Failed actions are not counted. The free plan stops at two steps, one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. With a score threshold set in the trigger, you often avoid needing a filter at all.

Connect

Connect your Plezi account

  1. 01

    Add the connection

In Zapier, open the Apps page of your account and click + Add connection. In the dialog that appears, type Plezi in the search box and pick it from the list.

  2. 02

    Sign in to Plezi

Click Add connection. A new tab opens on Plezi. Sign in with the account that holds your contacts and contents, so every list the Zap offers is complete.

  3. 03

    Grant access

Allow Zapier to reach the Plezi account. The connection is then reused by every Plezi step of every Zap, so you set it up once and pick it from a list afterwards.

First Zap

Your first Zap: log every white paper download

GoalEach contact who downloads a chosen white paper in Plezi gets a row in the sales follow-up sheet.

  1. 01

    Pick the trigger

Create a Zap, choose Plezi as the app and Contacts by Content Downloaded as the event. Select your connection, then the content to track.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent downloads of that content, so you map fields on a real contact rather than a placeholder.

  3. 03

    Add the row

Add Google Sheets as the action and pick Create Spreadsheet Row. Choose the sheet, then map what the trigger returned into its columns. Two steps in total, so this Zap runs on the free plan.

  4. 04

    Test, then publish

Test the action and check the row. Click Publish to switch the Zap on. Downloads made before that moment are not picked up.

Triggers

The 5 Plezi triggers

5 events start a Zap when something happens in Plezi. Zapier checks for them at the interval your plan allows.

1

Contacts by Content Downloaded

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a content is downloaded.”

Starts a Zap when someone downloads a specific content from your Plezi setup, a white paper, a guide or a template. The contact who downloaded it is handed to the next step.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a SaaS marketer wants each download of the pricing guide sent to the account executive who owns that region.
Watch out
you must pick one content when you set it up; tracking a second content means building a second Zap.
2

Contact Changed

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when an existing contact is changed.”

Fires when an existing Plezi contact is changed. It is the broadest watch on your base: any update to a known contact can start the Zap and pass the new version on.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
your CRM should mirror every edit made to a Plezi contact, without sales ops copying changes across.
Watch out
if another Zap uses Create or Update Contact on the same account, its edits will set this trigger off too.
3

Contact Score Changed

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the score of a contact is changed above a specific value.”

Runs a Zap when a contact's score changes and reaches the threshold you set. The threshold works as greater or equal: set 20, and any contact updated to 20 or more comes through.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
the sales team only wants to hear about leads who have shown enough interest to be worth a call.
Watch out
a Zap that adds points with Add Event to Contact can push scores over your threshold and start this trigger again.
4

Contact Status Changed

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when the status of a contact is changed.”

Kicks off a Zap when a contact moves to the status you choose. A second setting decides whether it watches all contacts, imported ones included, or only those that were not imported.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
a lead marked as sales-ready in Plezi becomes a new deal in the CRM, with no manual hand-off.
Watch out
choose non-imported contacts only if you do not want a bulk import to flood the Zap.
5

New Contact

Polling trigger

In Zapier“Triggers when a new contact is created.”

Fires when a new contact is created in Plezi, whatever brought them in. It is the entry point for anything that should happen to every new lead, before scoring or status come into play.

How it fires
Zapier goes and looks at regular intervals, and how often depends on your plan: every 15 minutes on the free one.
When to use it
every new lead should also appear in the shared prospect sheet that the founders review.
Watch out
contacts created by your own Create or Update Contact Zap will start it too, so watch for loops.
Actions

The 2 Plezi actions

Plezi gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

1

Add Event to Contact

Action

In Zapier“Adds event to contact.”

Records an event on a Plezi contact, found by their email, with a description and a number of points. Those points are added to the contact's score.

When to use it
a demo booked in your calendar tool adds points to the lead, so scoring reflects what happens outside Plezi.
Watch out
the points must be a positive value; this action can raise a score, never lower it.
2

Create or Update Contact

Action

In Zapier“Creates or updates a contact.”

Adds a contact to Plezi, or updates them if they are already there, from any other tool. One optional switch keeps the answers already selected in multiple-choice fields instead of overwriting them.

When to use it
people who register for your webinar on another platform land in Plezi with their details up to date.
Watch out
turn that switch on if your contacts collect several interests over time, or a new answer will wipe the old ones.
When it breaks

When it breaks

Zapier links no help article to Plezi, and no app-specific limit is documented. The cases below are general Zapier limits, as they show up on Plezi Zaps.

Plezi Zaps go wrong on loops and history more than on errors, because triggers and actions touch the same contacts. Check these four cases first, then the Zapier troubleshooting page.

  • Scores climb on their own

A Zap that adds points with Add Event to Contact while another watches Contact Score Changed can set itself off again and again and burn through tasks.
  • Past downloads never arrive

A Zap only reacts to what happens after you switch it on. Contacts, downloads and score changes that already existed are not picked up; moving that history is a separate job.
  • A big import is held back

When a trigger suddenly returns a huge batch, after a contact import or a migration, Zapier's flood protection can hold those items back instead of running them.
  • No duplicate alerts, by design

Zapier remembers what it has already seen on a polling trigger, so the same contact change does not start the Zap twice, even when checked again.

FAQ

Plezi Zapier integration: FAQ

01Is the Plezi Zapier integration free?
Yes. Plezi is not a premium app, so its five triggers and two actions all work on Zapier's free plan. That plan gives 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps, with one limit people often miss: each Zap holds two steps, one trigger and one action. A filter, a search or a second action makes the Zap multi-step, which needs a paid plan. Prices are not quoted here because plan grids change often; check them on Zapier before upgrading.
02How many tasks does a Plezi Zap use?
One per action that succeeds. The trigger is free, and so are Zapier's checks for new contacts or score changes, however frequent. A Zap that posts a sales alert for each hot lead uses one task per lead; one that creates the contact and then adds an event uses two. Failed actions are not counted. Using the score threshold inside the trigger, rather than a filter, keeps the Zap at two steps and the count low.
03Do Plezi triggers work in real time?
No. All five Plezi triggers are polling triggers: Zapier asks Plezi for new items at a fixed interval and keeps only the ones it has not seen. The interval depends on your plan: 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. The app decides the type, and it cannot be changed from the editor. On paid plans, you can also run a check by hand from the editor when a result is needed right away.
04What does it take to connect a Plezi account?
A Plezi account, plus access to any contacts or contents you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch. The connection takes three moves: + Add connection on the Apps page, sign in to Plezi in the tab that opens, then grant Zapier access. For the download trigger, the content you want to track must already exist in that account, since you pick it from a list when you set the trigger up.
05How does the Plezi score threshold work in Zapier?
Contact Score Changed asks for a Score Threshold, and that value works as greater or equal. Set it to 20, and every contact whose score is updated to 20 or more starts the Zap. A contact already above the threshold can come through again when their score changes. Pick a value that matches your sales-ready definition, and keep in mind that points added by Add Event to Contact also move scores.
06What if the Plezi operation you need is not available?
Then Zapier does not offer it for Plezi today. The editor lists five triggers (content download, contact changed, score changed, status changed, new contact) and two actions: create or update a contact, add an event to a contact. There is no search and no way to delete a contact or act on contents and campaigns. Handle that part outside Zapier, or keep it as a manual step in Plezi itself.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Plezi?
Decide on criteria rather than brand. On Zapier, Plezi gives five polling triggers and two actions, with no search, and it runs on the free plan while each Zap stays at two steps. So ask: do you need to look up a contact before acting, can you live with your plan's polling interval, and how many steps will the workflow take? Then check whether the other platform's Plezi connector covers those exact points.
