Plinky Zapier integrationAutomate Plinky with Zapier.

The Plinky Zapier integration offers 0 triggers, 1 action and 0 searches. That one action, Save a Link, files a web address in your Plinky account. Every Zap therefore starts in another app, and Plinky is where the link ends up. It runs on the free plan.

Overview

What the Plinky Zapier integration does

Plinky keeps the links you want to come back to, wherever you found them. Through Zapier, any other app can drop a link into your Plinky account without you copying it by hand. The flow goes one way only: into Plinky, never out of it, and that shapes every Zap below.

Three outcomes cover most uses. A reading list that fills itself: each new article in a feed you follow goes through Save a Link and waits in Plinky for a quiet moment. Team finds, kept in one place: a link shared in your chat tool or sent to a dedicated inbox is saved to Plinky, so it does not vanish in the scroll. Research that piles up on its own: new rows in a spreadsheet of sources or new bookmarks elsewhere become Plinky entries, and the collection grows while you work on something else.

Now what Zapier does not do with Plinky. There is no trigger: a Zap cannot start when you save a link in Plinky, so nothing you add there can be pushed to another tool. There is no search, so a Zap cannot check whether a link is already saved. And the only action writes; there is nothing to edit, tag or delete a saved link through Zapier.

Vocabulary

Zapier terms, in a minute

Seven words are all you need for what follows. Each one keeps the meaning below for the rest of the page.

Zap
The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run every time the trigger event happens.
Trigger
The event in an app that starts the Zap. Plinky has none, so with Plinky the trigger always comes from another app.
Action
What the Zap does once started: the step that writes, sends or moves something. Here, Save a Link is the action.
Task
The unit Zapier bills. One task is one action your Zap completes successfully; your plan counts those each month.
Polling and instant
Some triggers are checked by Zapier on a timer, others are reported by their app at once. It depends on the trigger app, not on Plinky.
Filter
A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets a condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
Multi-step Zap
Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes it one, and it then needs a paid plan.
Cost

What a Plinky Zap costs

Plinky is not a premium app, so the free plan can use it. Each saved link is one task; nothing else in the Zap is billed on Plinky's side.

  • Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited Zaps
  • Zap length on freeOne trigger and one action
  • Premium appNo
  • Cost per saved linkOne task, only if it succeeds

The trigger in the other app costs nothing, however often Zapier checks it. Every Save a Link that goes through counts as one task, and one that fails is not counted. A feed that brings in many articles spends a task on each of them. The free plan builds two-step Zaps only, so a filter that keeps just the articles on your topic turns the Zap into a multi-step one that needs a paid plan. Without the filter, every new item is saved.

Connect

Connect your Plinky account

  1. 01

    Open Apps in Zapier

From your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your Plinky account linked once, then reused by every Zap that saves links there.

  2. 02

    Select Plinky

Search for Plinky in the dialog, pick it from the list, then click Add connection. A new tab then opens on the Plinky side so you can sign in to your account.

  3. 03

    Sign in and grant access

Log in to Plinky in that tab and allow Zapier into the account. You need your own Plinky account, plus write access to anything in Plinky you do not own yourself and want the Zap to fill.

First Zap

Your first Zap: a reading list fed by your favourite sources

GoalEach new article from a feed you follow, on the topic you care about, is saved to Plinky for later.

  1. 01

    Build: choose the trigger app

Create a Zap and pick the app that sees the links first, here a feed reader, with its new-item event. Plinky cannot start a Zap, so this card always belongs to another app.

  2. 02

    Test the trigger

Run the test. Zapier brings back the three most recent items, so you can check that each one carries a link before going further.

  3. 03

    Add a filter

Add a Filter step and set the condition that keeps only the articles on your topic. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so it needs a paid plan.

  4. 04

    Add Save a Link

Add Plinky with Save a Link, choose your connection, and map the article's address into URL. That one field is all the action asks for.

  5. 05

    Test, then publish

Test the action, open Plinky to see the saved link, then click Publish. Only articles published after this point will be saved.

Actions

The Plinky action

Plinky gives you 1 action. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.

When it breaks

When a Plinky Zap breaks

Zapier ties no help article to Plinky and the source lists no limit of its own. The cases below are the general ones, applied to a link-saving Zap.

With one action and no trigger, the weak spots are the app that feeds Plinky and the moment the Zap goes live. If something looks off, go through Zapier troubleshooting.

  • Older links are never saved

A Zap only reacts to what happens after it is switched on. Links that existed in the trigger app before that are not picked up; moving them is a separate job.
  • A sudden batch is held back

If the trigger app returns a huge batch at once, after an import for instance, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back instead of saving every link.
  • No loop through Plinky

A Zap that writes where its trigger watches restarts itself. Plinky has no trigger, so saving links there can never set the Zap off again.
  • No link, no save

Save a Link needs a URL. If the trigger brings an item without one, the action fails, costs no task, and the item is simply not saved.

FAQ

Plinky Zapier integration: common questions

01Is the Plinky Zapier integration free?
Yes. Plinky is not a premium app, so it works on Zapier's free plan, with 100 tasks a month and unlimited Zaps. The free plan builds two-step Zaps: one trigger in another app and Save a Link. Saving every new article from one feed into Plinky fits. Keeping only some of them with a filter, or adding a second action, makes the Zap multi-step, and that needs a paid plan.
02How many tasks does a Plinky Zap use?
One per link saved successfully, nothing for the trigger. Zapier checking the source app for new items is free however often it runs, and a Save a Link that fails is not counted. So the bill follows the number of links that actually reach Plinky. On the free plan's 100 tasks a month, that means up to 100 saved links before the Zap pauses until the next month, which goes fast with a busy feed.
03Does Plinky save links in real time?
It depends on the app that starts the Zap, because Plinky has no trigger of its own. If that app reports events instantly, the link is saved straight away. If Zapier has to check it on a timer, the delay follows your plan: 15 minutes on Free, 2 on Professional, 1 on Team and Enterprise. To start a Plinky Zap at all, pick the trigger in the app where the links first appear.
04What do you need to connect Plinky to Zapier?
A Plinky account and a Zapier account. Open Apps in Zapier, click + Add connection, search for Plinky, click Add connection, then sign in to Plinky in the new tab and allow access. If the Zap should save into something in Plinky that someone else owns, the account you connect needs write access there. You also need a trigger app that provides a web address, since Save a Link will not run without a URL.
05Can Plinky send saved links to other apps?
Not through Zapier. Plinky offers no trigger, so a Zap cannot start when you save a link in Plinky, and none of your saved links can be pushed to a chat, a spreadsheet or a newsletter tool from there. The integration works in one direction only: other apps feed Plinky. If you also need the reverse, keep the link in the source app as well, or look at another way to export from Plinky.
06What if the Plinky operation you need does not exist?
Then Zapier does not offer it today. The whole integration is Save a Link: no trigger, no search, no way to edit, tag or delete a link. Checking whether a link is already saved, or cleaning old ones, has to happen inside Plinky by hand. The other routes are to do the step in the source app before the link reaches Plinky, or to compare what another automation tool offers for it.
07Zapier, Make or n8n for Plinky?
Weigh three criteria. Coverage: on Zapier, Plinky has a single action, so your scenario must be about sending links in, never getting them out. Cost: each saved link is a task, so a busy source can exhaust the free plan quickly. Length: a filter to keep only relevant links already means a paid Zapier plan. If an unfiltered flow into Plinky is enough, Zapier free is the simplest start; judge the others on those same points.
