M&SET by Stacks Software Zapier integrationAutomate M&SET by Stacks Software with Zapier.
The M&SET by Stacks Software Zapier integration gives you 2 actions and no trigger. Scan File checks a remote file, Scan Url checks a link and returns a risk score. The Zap always starts in another app, and the integration runs on the free plan.
Beta app Zapier still marks this integration as beta.

What the M&SET by Stacks Software Zapier integration does for you
The M&SET by Stacks Software Zapier integration sends files and links from your other apps to M&SET, a set of forensic services that spots malicious content. You pick where the file or link comes from; M&SET does the checking; the next steps work with what the test shows coming back.
Three results people build. A checked link for every form entry: a new submission in your form tool starts the Zap and Scan Url returns threat analytics and a risk score for the link it carries. A file looked at before it spreads: a new file in your storage tool goes to Scan File, which handles executables, binaries, images and documents. A risk score that reaches the team: after Scan Url, a filter checks a field of the scan result, picked at the test, against your rule, and a message goes to your team chat.
What Zapier does not do here: M&SET has no trigger, so it never starts a Zap on its own. Nothing happens until another app sends a file or a link. There is no search step either, so a Zap cannot look up an older scan. Zapier also marks the integration as beta, so check each step at the test before you rely on it. And files or links that existed before the Zap was switched on are never scanned by it.

Zapier words in one minute
Seven words come back all over this page. Here they are, in plain English.
- Zap
- The automation you build on Zapier: one trigger, then one or more actions that run each time the trigger event happens.
- Trigger
- The event in an app that starts the Zap. With M&SET it always comes from another app, such as a new form entry.
- Action
- What the Zap does once it has started: the step that writes, sends or checks something for you, like Scan Url.
- Task
- The unit Zapier bills: one action your Zap completes successfully. The count on your plan is a count of those.
- Polling vs instant
- Zapier checks a polling trigger on a timer; an instant trigger is reported by the app itself the moment the event happens.
- Filter
- A step that lets the Zap go on only when what arrived meets the condition you set, and stops it otherwise.
- Multi-step Zap
- Any Zap beyond one trigger and one action. A filter or a second action makes one, and it then needs a paid plan.
What a scan really costs you on Zapier
M&SET is not reserved for paid plans: it works on Zapier's free plan. You pay in tasks, and only actions use them.
- Free plan100 tasks a month, unlimited two-step Zaps
- M&SET on the free planYes, not reserved for paid plans
- One scanOne task when it succeeds
- Scan plus filter or messageMulti-step Zap, paid plan
The trigger in the other app costs nothing. Each scan that succeeds counts as one task; a scan that fails is not counted. The free plan gives 100 tasks a month and builds Zaps of two steps only, so trigger plus Scan Url fits. Add a filter or a message after the scan and the Zap turns multi-step, which needs a paid plan. The grid below is how often Zapier checks a polling trigger: it applies to the other app's trigger if that one is polling, never to M&SET, which has none.
Connect your M&SET account in three steps
- 01
Open the Apps page
In your Zapier account, open Apps and click + Add connection. A connection is your M&SET account linked to Zapier once, then reused by every step that calls M&SET.
- 02
Pick M&SET by Stacks Software
Type the app name in the search box of the dialog and select M&SET by Stacks Software in the results. Then click Add connection; a new tab opens where M&SET asks you to sign in.
- 03
Sign in and grant access
Sign in to M&SET in that tab and grant Zapier access to the account. You need an M&SET account, plus read or write access on anything you do not own yourself and want the Zap to touch.
Your first Zap: flag a risky link sent through a form
GoalWhen someone submits your form with a link, have M&SET scan it, and alert the team only when a field of the scan result, picked at the test, meets your rule.
- 01
Create the Zap and set the trigger
Create a new Zap and pick your form tool as the app that starts it, on its new-submission event. Test it so Zapier brings back recent entries and you work on a real one.
- 02
Add Scan Url
Add M&SET by Stacks Software as the next step and choose
Scan Url. Map the link from the form entry into the step, then select your M&SET connection or add it now. - 03
Test the scan and read the result
Run the step test and read what M&SET sent back. Note which fields came back: the filter after it will look at one of them, so check its name and format here.
- 04
Add the filter
Add a Filter step from the plus icon and fill the three boxes: the field, the rule, the value. A filter makes the Zap multi-step, so this one needs a paid plan.
- 05
Add the alert, then publish
Add your team chat and its send-message action, put the link and what you need from the scan result in the text, test it, then click Publish. Only entries sent after that point go through.
M&SET actions: two ways to check what comes in
M&SET by Stacks Software gives you 2 actions. For each one: what it does for you, when to reach for it, and what to watch out for.
Operations index
Scan File
ActionIn Zapier“Forensic Assesment of a Remote File (Exe, Bin, Image, Document)”
Sends a remote file to M&SET for a forensic assessment. It covers executables, binaries, images and documents.
Scan Url
ActionIn Zapier“Scans a given URL and returns threat analytics and risk score”
Checks a web address and returns threat analytics along with a risk score, which the next steps of the Zap can use; read their format at the test.
When an M&SET Zap breaks
Zapier attaches no help article to M&SET, so the cases below are the general limits of any Zap, read for this app.
Each card names a case and what to check. For anything else, open our Zapier troubleshooting guide.
Old files are never scanned
A Zap reacts only to what happens after it is published. Files and links already stored in the other app stay unscanned; handling that backlog is a separate job.A Zap that keeps restarting
A Zap that writes into the place its own trigger watches can set itself off again and again, and burn through tasks. Keep the scan results out of the watched place.A big import held back
When a bulk import or a migration makes the other app's trigger return a huge batch at once, Zapier's flood protection can hold it back rather than scan it all.The same item seen twice
On a polling trigger, Zapier keeps track of what it has already seen, so the same file or link does not start the Zap twice.
