Google Analytics Certification: the 6 best prep courses in 2026

The free Google badge, a CPD certificate or a certificate of completion: we compared the courses that prepare you for the Google Analytics Certification, their price and what you walk away with.

The short answer. The official Google Analytics Certification is free: you take it on Skillshop, you need 80% to pass, you can retake it the next day, and it lasts 12 months. No paid course hands you that badge. What a paid course does is get you ready faster and teach what the exam never checks. For a team that wants a bootcamp built around the exam, pick Jellyfish. For the best value on your own, Loves Data ($225, lifetime access). For a full implementation course with Tag Manager, Analytics Mania ($499). For live classes with a free retake if a seat is available, Noble Desktop ($650).

Most pages ranking for this query explain how to sit the free exam and stop there. That leaves the real buying question open: which paid course is worth it, what certificate it gives you, and how your employer can pay for it. That's what this ranking answers.

We compared sixteen English-language courses, their syllabus, price, format, certificate and reviews, and kept the six that a professional or a team can buy with confidence.

Google Analytics certification: what each course gives you

Three different documents hide behind the word "certification". The Google Analytics Certification is Google's own: an online assessment on Skillshop, free, recognized by anyone who works with GA4, and valid for 12 months. A CPD-accredited certificate (Continuing Professional Development, a UK scheme) shows the course met an outside standard. A certificate of completion or attendance proves you took a course, not that you passed a test. None of the paid courses below issues the Google badge: they prepare you, then you sit the exam yourself.

1
Best bootcamp built around the exam, for teams

Jellyfish · GA4 Certification Bootcamp

4.1/5

Jellyfish is the only course we found that is built for the exam from day one. The bootcamp runs as six half-days spread over six weeks, as a private session for your company, live online or in person. The page says it prepares participants "not only for the GA4 Certification Exam" but for daily work with GA4, and the last week is set aside for exam technique, a final Q&A and tips to pass.

The six-week rhythm is the real advantage for a team: people learn a block, use it at work for a week, then come back with questions. You get a Certificate of Attendance from Jellyfish, and each person then sits the free Google exam. The price is not published: you ask Jellyfish directly for a quote for your team, and you need it in writing before comparing it with an off-the-shelf course.

Why first, ahead of Loves Data, without a public price? Because the ranking weighs five criteria, not price alone. Jellyfish scores higher on teaching (live sessions with a trainer) and on team fit, and it is the only course whose whole syllabus is built around the exam. Loves Data wins clearly on value for money. If you are buying for yourself, start with Loves Data; if you are buying for a team, ask Jellyfish for a quote first.

Standout features
  • Built explicitly for the GA4 Certification exam
  • A final week on exam technique and tips
  • 6 half-days over 6 weeks
  • Private sessions, online or in person
+Pros
  • ✓The most exam-focused course in this ranking
  • ✓A pace that lets a team apply each block at work
  • ✓Run privately for your company
−Cons
  • ✗No public price: you need a quote
  • ✗Private sessions only, nothing for a single learner
  • ✗A Certificate of Attendance, not the Google badge itself
Verdict

The best pick when a company wants several people certified and able to use GA4 the week after. Ask for the quote early.

Best value to pass the exam on your own

Loves Data · Google Analytics 4 Complete Course

4.0/5

Loves Data is run by Benjamin Mangold, who also publishes one of the most read guides to the Google Analytics Certification. The course itself is 95+ video lessons and more than nine hours of content, for a one-time $225 (or 3 monthly payments of $85) with lifetime access. You earn a certificate of completion once you finish the course and an assignment, which is more than most video courses ask.

The course doesn't promise to get you through the exam; it teaches you to read and configure GA4 properly, and the free guide covers the exam format. The course page shows a 4.9/5 student rating and says 15,000+ students trained. For a solo learner, this is the lowest price per useful hour in the ranking.

Standout features
  • $225 one-time, lifetime access
  • 95+ lessons, 9+ hours
  • Certificate only after a graded assignment
  • 4.9/5 student rating on the course page
+Pros
  • ✓The best price in the ranking for a full GA4 course
  • ✓A trainer who also writes about the exam
  • ✓Lifetime access, handy for the yearly renewal
−Cons
  • ✗Self-paced only
  • ✗No live trainer to ask questions
  • ✗Does not explicitly prepare for the exam itself
Verdict

Our pick if you pay yourself. Take the course, read the free exam guide, then sit the Google exam.

3
Best course for a full GA4 implementation

Analytics Mania · Google Analytics 4 Course

3.8/5

Analytics Mania goes from beginner to advanced in 14 hours. It is the deepest course in this ranking on the implementation side: events, conversions, configuration and the link with Google Tag Manager. The price is $499, or four monthly payments of $133, and a bundle with the Tag Manager course costs $649. A 30-day money-back guarantee lowers the risk, and you get a course completion certificate.

One honest limit, written on the page itself: the course does not explain how to work with BigQuery or query data there. If your company exports GA4 data to BigQuery, plan another course. Team discounts are available on request, which helps when several people need it.

Standout features
  • 14 hours, from beginner to advanced
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Bundle with the GTM course for $649
  • Team discounts available
+Pros
  • ✓The most complete implementation content
  • ✓A refund window to try it safely
  • ✓Payment in four instalments
−Cons
  • ✗No BigQuery, stated on the page
  • ✗Twice the price of Loves Data
  • ✗Self-paced, no live sessions
Verdict

The right course if you are the person who builds the tracking. For reading reports only, Loves Data is enough.

Best live class, with a free retake

Noble Desktop · Google Analytics Bootcamp

3.7/5

Noble Desktop runs 12 hours of live, project-based training, in New York or live online. That suits people who drop self-paced videos after week two. The full tuition is $650, and you get a verified digital certificate of completion.

The best detail is the free retake: you can take the class again once within one year at no cost, if the class is running with an empty seat. That is useful if you want a refresher just before sitting the Google exam, or a year later before renewing it. The page does not present the bootcamp as an exam prep course, so treat it as a solid GA4 class, then use Google's free courses for the exam format.

Standout features
  • 12 hours live, project-based
  • Free retake within 1 year, if a seat is available
  • Verified digital certificate
  • New York or live online
+Pros
  • ✓A real instructor and live questions
  • ✓The free retake doubles the value
  • ✓A short, intensive format
−Cons
  • ✗$650 for 12 hours, pricier than self-paced courses
  • ✗Not presented as exam prep
  • ✗In person only in New York
Verdict

A good buy if you need a live trainer. Plan the retake right before your exam.

Best program to go beyond GA4

CXL · Digital Analytics Minidegree

3.6/5

CXL sells a Digital Analytics Minidegree: a long online program where GA4 sits next to wider analytics topics. You can buy just this program for $999, or access it through a CXL membership. A CXL Digital Analytics Minidegree Certificate is included when you complete it.

This is the right choice when the Google badge is a small part of your goal and you want to think like an analyst. It is too much if you only need to pass the exam. Some third-party reviews say parts of the catalog still refer to the old Universal Analytics: check that each lesson you need covers GA4 before you pay.

Standout features
  • A full digital analytics minidegree
  • Certificate included
  • Buy once for $999 or via membership
  • Analytics beyond GA4
+Pros
  • ✓The broadest program in the ranking
  • ✓A known name in growth and analytics
  • ✓A certificate tied to a long program
−Cons
  • ✗$999: overkill for the exam alone
  • ✗Some reviews mention older Universal Analytics content
  • ✗A long program to fit around a full-time job
Verdict

For a career in analytics, not for the badge alone. If the exam is the goal, start with Loves Data.

Best CPD-accredited certificate in the UK

Target Internet · Web Analytics with GA4 Certification

3.5/5

Target Internet offers a CPD-accredited GA4 certificate, CPD being a recognized scheme in the UK for continuing professional development. It is self-study, with no separate formal assessment, and the page gives no course length. Access is by subscription: billed once at £360 for a year, or as a monthly or six-month plan, and every package includes a 30-day free trial.

The 30-day trial lets you start the GA4 pathway and judge it before paying. The limit: the certificate rests on completing the course, not on passing an exam. Use it for CPD hours, and add Google's free certification for the GA4 badge.

Standout features
  • CPD accredited
  • Self-study, no length stated
  • 30-day free trial
  • Billed yearly or monthly
+Pros
  • ✓A recognized CPD certificate in the UK
  • ✓A free trial long enough to finish
  • ✓Try the whole pathway before paying
−Cons
  • ✗No formal assessment
  • ✗No course length published
  • ✗A subscription, not a one-off price
Verdict

Worth it for UK professionals who log CPD hours. For depth, pair it with Analytics Mania.

The method

Get the Google Analytics Certification, step by step

From deciding to holding the badge, here is the order we recommend, with what is free and when a paid course earns its price.

01

Decide what the certificate must prove

First

Ask one question: who will look at it? For a client or a recruiter who wants proof that you know GA4, the free Google badge is enough. For a UK employer that counts CPD hours, a CPD-accredited course helps. For a team that must use GA4 every day, the course matters more than the paper. Many people take a paid course to learn, then the free exam to show it.

Take Google's four free courses

Official

Google offers four free courses on Skillshop: 101 and 102 for beginners, 201 at intermediate level, and 301 for advanced use of GA4 with other tools and data sources. They cover the exam scope. If you use GA4 every week, they are often enough. If 201 already loses you, a course with a trainer is worth it.

03

Practice on a real property

Free

The exam asks situation questions: where to find a number, which report to open, which setting to change. Without an account, you guess. Use Google's GA4 demo account or, better, your company's property. Open every report the courses mention, build an exploration, set up a key event.

04

Add a paid course if you need more than the badge

Paid

The badge doesn't teach you a tracking plan, Tag Manager or BigQuery, yet that is what work asks for. Loves Data is the cheapest full course at $225, Analytics Mania goes deepest on implementation, Jellyfish builds a team for the exam. A paid course never sits the exam for you.

90 min

You take it online from your Skillshop account, in one of 19 languages listed by Google. Google's help page gives 90 minutes, and the timer can't be paused, so block a quiet slot. You need 80% to pass. Google doesn't publish the number of questions.

12 months

The certification lasts 12 months. After that, you pass the assessment again, still for free. Skillshop shows the expiry date in your Certifications tab: put it in your calendar. Buyer's guide

Spot a Google Analytics certificate that actually counts

A course page can call almost anything a "certification". Six checks keep you from paying for one thing while believing you bought another. This page is written first for US buyers, with prices in dollars; Target Internet and its CPD certificate are there for readers in the UK.

Google badge or course certificate?

Ask what you get and who issues it. The Google badge comes from Skillshop, for free, and no course can issue it for you. A certificate of completion or attendance comes from the course provider. Both look fine on LinkedIn, but only the first is Google's.

Two Coursera certificates, neither is the badge

Coursera shows up high for this search, and it sells two different things. The Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate is about data analysis in general. The Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Professional Certificate is closer: an 8-course series, about 6 months at 10 hours a week, included with Coursera Plus ($239 a year, or $49 a month after a 7-day trial in the US and Canada), where Google Analytics is one of the tools. Neither is the Google Analytics Certification, which stays free on Skillshop. Pick the e-commerce certificate only if you want the whole marketing curriculum.

What about the Udemy course?

A Udemy course called "Google Analytics Certification" ranks in the top results. It isn't in this ranking: its price, length, last update and GA4 exam coverage aren't confirmed on a page we could rely on. If you look at it anyway, check four things on the course page: the "last updated" line, a syllabus that says GA4 (the Google exam now covers GA4 only), the number of ratings rather than the average, and the instructor's other courses. A Udemy certificate of completion is Udemy's, not Google's. Udemy prices also move with frequent promotions, so never pay the crossed-out price. Loves Data and Analytics Mania publish fixed prices and a GA4 syllabus you can compare line by line.

Check what the course leaves out

Good providers say it. Analytics Mania writes that it doesn't cover BigQuery. Target Internet has no formal assessment. Jellyfish gives a Certificate of Attendance. A provider that is clear about its limits is usually clear about the rest.

Look at refunds and retakes

Analytics Mania offers a 30-day money-back guarantee, Noble Desktop a free retake within a year if a seat is available, Target Internet a 30-day free trial. Those terms cut your risk more than a discount does.

Get your employer to pay

Most employers have a training budget. Ask before you buy: team discounts exist at Analytics Mania, and a private bootcamp like Jellyfish is priced for a company. Bring the syllabus, the price and what the team will be able to do afterwards.

The badge alone doesn't prove practice

Experienced GA4 trainers call the exam easy and generic, and seasoned hiring managers know it. What sets you apart is what the badge doesn't test: a tracking plan, Tag Manager, consent settings, a dashboard. Choose your course for that.
  • Take Google's four free courses before paying anything
  • Ask whether the course explicitly prepares for the Google exam
  • Check what certificate you get and who issues it
  • Read the refund, trial or retake terms
  • Ask your employer for the training budget before buying
  • Write down your badge's expiry date as soon as you pass
FAQ · 9 questions

Google Analytics certification · FAQ

  • Is the Google Analytics Certification free?

Yes. The assessment on Skillshop costs nothing, and so do Google's four prep courses. What you pay for are third-party courses that prepare you or go further. If a page sells you "the Google Analytics certification", it is selling a course: you still take the badge yourself.

  • How long is the exam and how many questions are there?

Google's help page gives 90 minutes and a pass mark of 80%. Google doesn't publish the number of questions. Some prep guides describe another format, 50 questions in 75 minutes: when they differ, Google's official help page is the one that counts, so read it again right before you start. The timer can't be paused, so pick an uninterrupted slot.

  • How long does it take to prepare?

From a few hours to a few weeks. If you use GA4 every week, Google's four free courses and some review are often enough. From scratch, plan a 9-hour course like Loves Data, 12 live hours at Noble Desktop, 14 hours at Analytics Mania, or six weeks of half-days at Jellyfish.

  • Can my employer pay for a Google Analytics course?

Often, yes, through the company's training budget. Bring a clear proposal: the course page, the price, the format and what you will set up afterwards. Analytics Mania offers team discounts, and Jellyfish runs private bootcamps for a whole team, priced on quote.

  • How long is the certification valid?

12 months. After that you pass the assessment again, still for free. Skillshop shows the expiry date in your Certifications tab. No paid course renews the badge for you.

  • Is the Google Analytics Certification worth it?

Yes as a free baseline, but not on its own. Experienced trainers say you can pass it without real GA4 experience, and hiring managers know that. Pair it with practical skills: a tracking plan, Tag Manager, a dashboard. For courses on the tool itself, see our Google Analytics training ranking.

  • Is it the same as the Google Data Analytics Certificate?

No. The Google Data Analytics Professional Certificate on Coursera is a separate, paid program on data analysis in general. The Google Analytics Certification is the free Skillshop assessment on GA4. Coursera itself makes the distinction.

  • What happens if I fail?

You can retake the assessment after 24 hours. Google doesn't state a maximum number of attempts. A failed attempt costs nothing. Use the wait to go back over the topics you weren't sure about.

  • What does the Google Analytics Certification exam cover?

Google doesn't publish a detailed syllabus. Its help page says the assessment tests your knowledge of digital analytics best practices and the Google Analytics platform, and points to the Skillshop courses. The Loves Data guide, one of the top results on the topic, groups the questions into five areas: foundations and data collection, reports and analysis, measurement and advertising, tools and data sources, and administration. That split is a trainer's, not an official one.
