What is the best plumbing software in 2026?

A drain-and-water-heater shop and a remodel plumber do not need the same software.

Most plumbing software lists rank tools by feature count. What matters is simpler: how fast your tech can quote, get a signature and get paid on a service call, and what the tool costs once every truck is on it. We compared six tools on exactly that.

The short answer: Jobber for most small residential shops. Housecall Pro if you sell flat-rate on service calls. Tradify for a small crew that tracks job profit. Service Fusion once you pass ten users. Joist if you work alone and only need estimates.

How we ranked

How we compared and ranked

We read each vendor's official pricing page, their plumbing pages and public user reviews, starting with the negative ones. Scores match those on our other rankings, so a tool has the same score everywhere.

What is not ranked, and why. ServiceTitan and Simpro are serious options for large companies, but neither publishes a price, so we cannot tell you what you would pay. Plumbing design and takeoff tools such as PlanSwift do a different job.

1
Best plumbing software for small residential shops

Jobber

4.1/5

Jobber is the safest pick for a small plumbing company. Quotes, scheduling, dispatch, invoices and payments sit in one place, and the mobile app is the part reviewers praise most: your tech sees the job, the customer history and the photos from the last visit before knocking on the door.

Read the pricing grid carefully. Core starts at $49 a month for one user, drops to $39 on a one-year commitment and to $29 if you prepay the year. Connect, at $139 a month ($119 on a one-year commitment, $99 prepaid), adds the automated follow-ups and the client hub most shops want. Grow, at $199 ($169 on commitment, $149 prepaid), adds quote add-ons and more automation. Each extra user costs $29 a month. Connect also comes in a five-user tier at $199 a month ($149 prepaid), often cheaper than adding seats one by one.

The 14-day trial gives you the full Grow plan with no card, so you can test everything before choosing a tier.

Its limit: price creep. Recent public reviews complain about increases and about features moving up to pricier tiers, and there is no ready-made plumbing flat-rate price book: you build your catalog yourself.

Tip: build your ten most common jobs (drain clearing, water heater swap, faucet replacement) as line items during the trial. If quoting them is fast, Jobber is right for you.

Standout features
  • Mobile app techs actually like
  • Client hub for approvals and payments
  • Full Grow plan in the free trial
+Pros
  • ✓Easy to learn
  • ✓Clear per-user pricing
  • ✓Strong online booking and follow-ups
−Cons
  • ✗No built-in flat-rate price book
  • ✗Prices have risen
  • ✗Key automations only from Connect
Verdict

The best all-round choice for a small residential plumbing business that wants one app and fast quotes.

Best for flat-rate pricing on service calls

Housecall Pro

4.1/5

Housecall Pro is built for the service call. Your tech shows up, opens the price book, presents options, gets a signature and takes payment before leaving. That flow is what makes it popular with plumbers who run on drain and water heater calls rather than remodels.

Basic costs $59 a month billed annually ($79 monthly) for one user and includes a price book, but flat-rate pricing only starts on Essentials, at $149 a month billed annually ($189 monthly) for five users. MAX, at $299 ($329), covers eight users, and each extra one adds $35. The 14-day trial opens the MAX plan without a card.

Its limit is the company behind the software. Public reviews are sharply split: many owners love the scheduling and invoicing, while others report AI-first support, price increases, add-ons priced only through sales, and slow cancellations. Read the contract before you sign the annual plan.

Tip: for a five-tech shop, Essentials at $149 is cheaper than Jobber Connect with four extra users. Do the math on your real headcount.

Standout features
  • Flat-rate pricing from Essentials
  • Five users included on Essentials
  • Strong payments on site
+Pros
  • ✓Built for service calls
  • ✓Good value at five users
  • ✓Full MAX plan in the trial
−Cons
  • ✗Flat rate not on Basic
  • ✗Mixed support reviews
  • ✗Add-on prices not public
Verdict

The pick for a service-first plumbing shop of three to eight techs, provided you read the contract.

Best for owner-operators who want simple job costing

Tradify

4.0/5

Tradify was built for trades like plumbing and electrical, and it shows in the details: job costing against quotes, supplier bills, timesheets that feed invoices. It is simpler than Jobber and Housecall Pro, and quicker to set up.

Pricing is per user. Lite costs $47 a month and covers jobs, scheduling, quotes and invoices. Pro, at $51, adds recurring jobs, job photos, timesheets and progress invoicing, which most plumbers need. Plus, at $61, adds service reminders and purchase orders. The trial lasts 14 days with every feature.

Its limit: per-user pricing climbs fast. Five users on Pro cost $255 a month, more than Housecall Pro Essentials. And there is no flat-rate price book.

Tip: start on Pro, not Lite. The $4 gap buys job photos and recurring jobs, which you will want within a month.

Standout features
  • Job costing against the quote
  • Timesheets feed invoices
  • Quick to set up
+Pros
  • ✓Made for trades
  • ✓Clear plan ladder
  • ✓Good support reviews
−Cons
  • ✗Per-user cost adds up
  • ✗No flat-rate price book
  • ✗Lighter marketing tools
Verdict

A clean choice for a small crew that cares about job profit more than marketing.

Best for growing shops with many users

Service Fusion

3.9/5

Service Fusion charges per company, not per user. Every plan includes unlimited users, which flips the math once your team grows: at fifteen people, Starter at $208 a month billed annually costs less than any per-user tool here.

Plus, at $325 a month billed annually ($382 monthly), adds job photos, inventory and job costing. Pro, at $533 ($627), adds e-signed documents, a customer portal and progress and recurring invoicing. Plans run month to month; annual billing saves 15%.

Its limit: for a small shop it is expensive, and job photos are an add-on on Starter. A two-person business pays $208 for what Jobber Core does for $49.

Tip: count everyone who will log in, office included. Below eight users, a per-user tool is cheaper.

Standout features
  • Unlimited users on every plan
  • Inventory and job costing on Plus
  • Month-to-month contracts
+Pros
  • ✓Predictable cost as you hire
  • ✓No per-seat fees
  • ✓Customer portal on Pro
−Cons
  • ✗Expensive for small shops
  • ✗Photos are an add-on on Starter
  • ✗Older interface
Verdict

The cheapest option per head once you pass about ten users; too much for a small crew.

Best for custom job reports

Synchroteam

4.1/5

Synchroteam is a dispatch and reporting tool. Its strength is the custom job form: you add the fields your work requires, such as backflow test readings, pressure checks or fixture counts, and the signed report goes to the customer with photos.

Standard costs $39 per user a month billed annually, $49 monthly, and the first admin is free: you only pay for techs in the field. Premium, at $64 or $79, adds route optimization. The trial lasts 14 days without a card.

Its limit: it is not a sales tool. No flat-rate price book, basic estimates, and a dispatcher cannot reassign jobs from the mobile app.

Tip: pay monthly during your first season, then switch to annual and save $10 per tech a month.

Standout features
  • Custom job forms
  • First admin free
  • Monthly plans without commitment
+Pros
  • ✓Well-rated support
  • ✓Accounting connectors included
  • ✓Trial without a card
−Cons
  • ✗No flat-rate price book
  • ✗Basic GPS
  • ✗No reassignment from mobile
Verdict

Strong for commercial and inspection work where the report matters more than the upsell.

6
Best cheap estimating app for solo plumbers

Joist

3.8/5

Joist is an estimating and invoicing app, nothing more. You write the estimate on your phone in the customer's kitchen, they get a branded PDF, and you convert it to an invoice when the job is done.

Skip Basics: at $8.34 a month billed annually it caps you at five documents a month, and an estimate plus its invoice counts as two. Pro, at $14.17 a month billed annually ($17 monthly), removes the cap. Elite runs $26.67 billed annually.

Its limit: no scheduling, no dispatch, no team. The day you hire, you outgrow it.

Tip: save your common fixtures and labor rates as items on day one; that is what makes a Joist estimate take two minutes instead of ten.

Standout features
  • Estimates from the phone
  • Pro unlimited at $14.17
  • Simple invoice conversion
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest paid option
  • ✓Very easy
  • ✓Good for side jobs
−Cons
  • ✗No scheduling
  • ✗Basics capped at 5 documents
  • ✗Not built for a team
Verdict

Enough for a solo plumber who just needs to quote and get paid.

What matters

What your plumbing software must do that most lists skip

Four things decide whether a plumbing tool pays for itself.

Flat rate or time and materials

If you sell flat-rate, you need a price book on the tablet with options for the customer. Housecall Pro includes flat-rate pricing from Essentials. Jobber, Tradify and Joist let you build your own catalog, which works for time and materials but takes setup for flat rate.

The real price per truck

Per-user pricing looks cheap at one seat. At five, Tradify Pro costs $255 a month, the five-user Connect tier of Jobber $199 ($149 prepaid), and Housecall Pro Essentials $149 billed annually. Past ten users, Service Fusion's flat price wins.

Getting paid before you leave

Every invoice sent the next day is paid later. All six tools turn a finished job into an invoice; Jobber, Housecall Pro and Service Fusion add online and on-site payments, which shortens the wait.

The contract, not just the price

Annual prepay saves money but locks you in. Jobber's prepaid first payment is non-refundable; Service Fusion runs month to month. Public complaints about Housecall Pro focus on cancellation, so read the terms first.

  • Price the tier you need for your real headcount.
  • Decide flat rate or time and materials before the trial.
  • Run a real week of jobs in the trial.
  • Read the cancellation terms before prepaying a year.

Getting started

Moving your plumbing shop onto software in one week

The switch rarely fails on the tool. It fails on preparation.

01

List your twenty most common jobs

First

Drain clearing, water heater swap, toilet rebuild, faucet replacement, leak detection, trip charge. Write price, time and parts for each. That list becomes your catalog.

02

Clean your customer list

Data

Export names, addresses, phone numbers and last job date. Remove duplicates before import: it is the one thing that is painful to fix later.

03

Build one job report

Field

Cause of the problem, before and after photos, signature. It protects you when a customer disputes a bill.

04

Run a real week in the trial

Choice

Put every real job of the week into the tool. After five days you know.

06

Switch to annual only after a season

Savings

Once the team uses the tool daily, annual billing cuts Jobber Core from $49 to $29 a month.

FAQ · 7 questions

Plumbing software · FAQ

  • What software do most plumbers use?
Small residential shops most often run Jobber or Housecall Pro; large companies often use ServiceTitan, which does not publish its prices. Solo plumbers frequently get by with an estimating app such as Joist plus their accounting software.
  • Is there free plumbing software?
Not a useful free plan among the tools we ranked. The closest is Joist Basics at $8.34 a month billed annually, capped at five documents a month. Four of the six offer a 14-day free trial.
  • How much does plumbing software cost per month?
From $14.17 a month for a solo plumber on Joist Pro (billed annually) to about $200 to $300 a month for a five-tech shop on Jobber, Tradify or Housecall Pro. Service Fusion starts at $208 a month billed annually with unlimited users.
  • Jobber or Housecall Pro for a plumbing business?
Jobber if you want the easier app and quote mostly by time and materials. Housecall Pro if you sell flat-rate on service calls and have about five techs, since Essentials includes five users for $149 a month billed annually.
  • Is ServiceTitan worth it for a small plumbing company?
Usually not below about fifteen techs. It is built for large shops with office staff, and its price is only quoted by sales, so you cannot compare it upfront.
  • Can plumbing software handle flat-rate pricing?
Yes, but not all of it. Housecall Pro includes flat-rate pricing from Essentials. With Jobber and Tradify you build the catalog yourself.
  • How do Jobber's team tiers work for a plumbing shop?
Connect and Grow come in 5, 10 and 15-user tiers. Connect for five users costs $199 a month without commitment, $169 on a one-year commitment and $149 prepaid; Grow for five users costs $299, $259 or $229. Core has no team tier: each extra user is $29 a month. Above fifteen users, Jobber quotes through sales.
