What is the best sales management software for a micro business in 2026?

You want quote, order, delivery note, invoice and payment follow-up in one place, without paying for an ERP or living in spreadsheets. Here is what works at one, two or three people.

Quotes in a Word template, invoices in another app, stock in a spreadsheet nobody updates. A customer calls to ask if their order shipped and you open three files to find out. Sales management software fixes exactly that: one place, from quote to cash.

The short answer. Zoho Inventory is the best pick for most micro businesses that sell products: free up to 50 orders a month, then $29 for three users. Odoo is the most complete on a small per-seat budget, if you will configure it. Dolibarr is the cheapest with real inventory. Axonaut is the all-in-one for a business registered in France. Sellsy suits a small team that prospects hard.

If you sell only your time and have no stock, sales management software is overkill: our ranking of invoicing software for small businesses will save you money. Past ten people, see our sales management software for small businesses.

5 sales management tools for micro businesses

The ranking targets a business of one to nine people that sells products, or services with some items, to consumers or other businesses. Every tool here goes from quote to invoice and tracks at least basic stock. Pure CRMs and invoicing apps without inventory are left out.

How we ranked

How we compared and ranked

This page is for the owner of a very small business: a trade, a small wholesaler, a B2B shop, a service company that also sells parts. You are alone, or two or three people in the software. Your budget is tens of dollars a month, not hundreds, and you have no time for an IT project.

The heaviest criterion is quote-to-cash with inventory, 30%: quote, order, delivery note, invoice, payment follow-up, plus stock and purchase orders. Yearly cost for one to three users weighs 25%: we read each official pricing page with its seat minimums, commitments and add-ons, then worked out the cost over twelve months. Setup without a consultant weighs 20%, because a micro business has no IT team. E-invoicing readiness weighs 10%, since more countries now require it. User feedback weighs 15%: public reviews, forums, recurring complaints.

A note on scores. Each tool's score is the same on every page of our Labs and rates the software as a whole. Its rank rates the fit for a micro business. That is why Axonaut, scored higher than Dolibarr, ranks fourth here: it is built for companies registered in France.

Best overall for a micro business

Zoho Inventory

4.4/5

Zoho Inventory is built around the part of a small business that spreadsheets handle worst: sales orders, purchase orders and stock levels that need to agree with each other. You raise a sales order, ship it, invoice it, and the stock count moves on its own. When stock runs low, you raise a purchase order to your supplier from the same screen.

The pricing is what puts it first for a micro business. Zoho charges per organization, not per user. The free plan covers 50 orders a month with one user and one warehouse, which is enough for a lot of side businesses and new shops. Standard costs $29 a month on a yearly plan and includes three users and 500 orders a month, so a team of three pays $348 a year in total. Most tools in this ranking charge that for a single seat.

The catch: Zoho Inventory is an operations tool, not your books. You will want Zoho Books or another accounting tool next to it. And the pricing page shows yearly prices only, so check the monthly rate before you commit if cash flow is tight.

Standout features
  • Priced per organization, not per seat
  • Free plan with 50 orders a month
  • Sales and purchase orders tied to stock
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest option for three users
  • ✓Two warehouses from Standard
  • ✓Quick to set up alone
−Cons
  • ✗Accounting lives in another tool
  • ✗Yearly price shown, monthly rate not displayed
  • ✗Free plan limited to one user
Verdict

The best starting point if you sell products and want to pay nothing until you outgrow 50 orders a month. Pair it with an accounting tool from day one so invoices and books stay in sync.

Most complete on a small budget

Odoo

3.5/5

Odoo is a suite of connected apps: Sales, Inventory, Purchase, Invoicing, Accounting, eCommerce and dozens more. For a micro business, the appeal is that you get what a fifty-person company runs on, for a few dozen dollars per seat, and you never have to migrate as you grow.

Read the word "free" carefully. One app is free with unlimited users. A real quote-to-cash setup needs at least Sales and Inventory, and the moment you add a second app the whole database moves to Standard. At $31.10 per user per month in year one, one person costs $373.20 for the year and two people $746.40. After that the rate goes to $38.90, or $933.60 a year for two. Add every user to your first order: the first-year discount only applies to them.

The real cost for a small team is time. User reviews are blunt about it: too complex for a very small business, heavy to set up, long to learn, and support rated weak. Freelance implementers often charge 400 to 550 euros a day in Europe. If nobody on your team enjoys configuring software, you may spend more on help than on licenses.

Standout features
  • Sales, stock, purchasing and books in one base
  • One app free to start
  • Grows with you without a migration
+Pros
  • ✓Most complete tool in this ranking
  • ✓Low per-seat price on Standard
  • ✓Huge library of add-on apps
−Cons
  • ✗Free tier covers only one app
  • ✗Long setup for a tiny team
  • ✗First-year discount limited to the initial order
Verdict

The right pick if you like setting up your own tools and plan to grow. If you need to be running next week with no help, start with Zoho Inventory instead.

Cheapest with real inventory

Dolibarr

3.2/5

Dolibarr is open-source business software: quotes, orders, shipments, invoices, stock, purchasing and a long list of optional modules. It costs nothing if you install it on your own server. Most small teams are better off with DoliCloud, the hosted version: €14 per user per month on Basic, with every official module, servers in France, no commitment and no setup or exit fees.

Run the numbers. Two users cost €28 a month, €336 a year: the cheapest tool here that still handles real stock and purchase orders. Only users marked as active are billed, so a seasonal helper who leaves stops costing you the day you switch the account off.

Users describe it as reliable and stable, and it gets recommended on forums for small outfits. The complaints are about a dated interface and document templates: one user had to pay a developer to get quotes that matched the company brand. Budget a few hours, or a contractor, for that part.

Standout features
  • Open source, free when self-hosted
  • Every official module from €14
  • No commitment, no exit fees
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest option with real inventory
  • ✓Only active users are billed
  • ✓You own your data
−Cons
  • ✗Dated interface
  • ✗Document templates need tuning
  • ✗Hosted pricing in euros only
Verdict

The best value if you can live with a plain interface. Spend the first afternoon on your quote and invoice templates and it will serve you for years.

Best all-in-one for a business in France

Axonaut

3.9/5

Axonaut is a French all-in-one for small companies: CRM, quotes, invoices, delivery notes, real-time stock, low-stock alerts, batches, serial numbers and supplier orders. It is also a registered e-invoicing platform in France at no extra cost, which matters because French businesses must be able to receive e-invoices from 2026 and send them from 2027.

Outside France, it is a harder sell. The interface and support are in French, and pricing is in euros: €97 per user per month with no commitment, or €1,164 a year for one person. Commit for three years and it drops to €58.20 a month. Users praise the support and automatic bank matching, and criticize supplier purchase orders that cannot be customized, unlike quotes and invoices.

Standout features
  • Stock, purchasing and invoicing in one screen
  • French e-invoicing platform included
  • Month-to-month plan available
+Pros
  • ✓Batches, serials and expiry dates included
  • ✓Automatic bank matching
  • ✓Responsive support in reviews
−Cons
  • ✗Built for France, interface in French
  • ✗Per-user price adds up at three seats
  • ✗Supplier order template not customizable
Verdict

The pick if your company is French and e-invoicing compliance is on your list. Elsewhere, Zoho Inventory or Odoo will fit better.

Best for a small team that sells actively

Sellsy

3.7/5

Sellsy starts from the sales pipeline and works down to the invoice. Your salesperson tracks deals, builds quotes, and the invoice is created from the accepted quote without retyping. Purchasing and margin tracking come with the invoicing plan.

Two rules on the official pricing page matter for a tiny team. Every plan carries a 12-month commitment. And the Sales and Invoicing bundle needs at least two users: on Standard billed yearly, €49 per user per month, that is a floor of €1,176 a year even if you work alone. Reviews are split between "perfect for a small business" and "too complex for a small business", and the hardest complaint is how difficult the yearly contract is to cancel.

Standout features
  • Pipeline linked to quotes and invoices
  • Invoice created from the accepted quote
  • Purchasing and margins in invoicing
+Pros
  • ✓Built to sell, not just to bill
  • ✓Invoicing-only plan for a solo owner
  • ✓E-invoicing ready for France
−Cons
  • ✗12-month commitment on all plans
  • ✗Two-user minimum on the bundle
  • ✗Inventory lighter than Odoo or Zoho
Verdict

Worth it if growth comes from prospecting and stock matters little. If you are alone and sell products, the two-seat, one-year floor is money spent for nothing.

Yearly cost

What sales management really costs a micro business

Headline prices quote one user for one month. What matters is what you pay over a year, at your size, with commitments and seat minimums. Here is the math from the official pricing pages, before tax and before any negotiated discount.

One user

Zoho Inventory: $0 up to 50 orders a month. DoliCloud Basic: €168 a year. Odoo Standard: $373.20 in year one, then $466.80. Axonaut: €1,164 with no commitment, €698.40 a year on a three-year commitment.

Two users

Zoho Inventory Standard: $348 a year, up to three users. DoliCloud Basic: €336 a year. Odoo Standard: $746.40 in year one, then $933.60. Sellsy Sales and Invoicing Standard: €1,176 a year with a 12-month commitment.

What the license leaves out

Add setup time. For Odoo, a freelance implementer often charges 400 to 550 euros a day. For Dolibarr, plan to tune your document templates. For Zoho Inventory, add an accounting tool. Sellsy and Axonaut bill in euros, so check the exchange rate if you pay in dollars.

  • Work out the cost over twelve months, not one
  • Check the minimum number of seats on the plan
  • Read the commitment length before the trial ends
  • Check whether the price is in dollars or euros
  • Confirm that inventory is in the plan you pay for
  • Make sure you can export items, customers and invoices
Invoicing or sales management?

When a plain invoicing app is enough

Plenty of micro businesses pay for sales management and only use the invoice. The tipping point comes down to three questions: do you have a product catalog, stock to track, supplier orders to match?

01

You sell time, not products: invoicing is enough

Invoicing

Consultant, trainer, agency, repair work with no parts on hand: you send quotes and invoices and chase payments. An invoicing app does the job for less. See our ranking of invoicing software for small businesses.

02

You hold stock and buy from suppliers: get sales management

Sales management

You buy to resell, need to know what is left on the shelf and receive deliveries. An invoicing app will cost you hours every week. If stock itself is the main issue, with many items or several locations, also look at our small business inventory software ranking.

03

You prospect more than you stock: a CRM with invoicing

CRM

Your problem is following up quotes and deals, not inventory. Sellsy fits that profile. If tracking prospects comes first, compare with our CRM for micro businesses ranking.

Other options worth knowing

These names come up often when a micro business looks for sales management software. They are not ranked because they target another need or because we could not read their price on an official page.

01

QuickBooks Online: accounting first, inventory on higher plans

Accounting

QuickBooks Online is accounting software that adds inventory tracking on its higher plans. It makes sense if your accountant already works in it. We left it out of the ranking because we could not confirm its current prices on an Intuit page for this comparison: check the plan that includes inventory before you subscribe.

02

Zoho Books: the accounting half of Zoho Inventory

Accounting

If you pick Zoho Inventory, Zoho Books is the natural place for your books, from the same vendor and on the same account. Check whether the bundle beats buying the two separately for your number of users.

03

EBP: installed software for French businesses

France

EBP Gestion Commerciale is a classic installed tool in France with valued stock, purchase orders and a built-in e-invoicing platform, on Windows and Mac. Pricing is quote only, and the product is built for French rules, so it only fits a business registered in France.

Tips

Pay less and avoid the pricing traps

These tips come from the official pricing pages and from user reviews. None of them shows up in a sales brochure.

01

Stay on Zoho's free plan as long as you can

Zoho Inventory

The free plan covers 50 orders a month with one user. Count your orders over the last quarter: if you stay under, you pay nothing. Past that, Standard covers three people for what one seat costs elsewhere.

Free cap
50 orders a month
02

Add every Odoo user to your first order

Odoo

Odoo's first-year discount only applies to users in the initial order. Users added mid-contract pay the full rate. If you know a second person will join within the year, include them from the start.

Switch off unused DoliCloud accounts

Dolibarr

DoliCloud only bills users marked as active. A seasonal worker who left, a partner who never logs in: deactivate the account and you save €14 a month each.

FAQ

Questions micro business owners ask

  • Is there free sales management software for a micro business?

Yes, with limits. Zoho Inventory is free up to 50 orders a month with one user, and Dolibarr is free if you host it yourself. Odoo is free with a single app only, which is not enough for sales plus inventory. If you have no stock, a free invoicing app may be all you need.

  • What is the difference between invoicing software and sales management software?

Invoicing software sends quotes and invoices. Sales management adds orders, delivery notes, a product catalog, stock and supplier purchase orders. If you sell only your time, invoicing is enough. Once you hold stock, sales management saves hours every week.

  • How much does sales management software cost for a small team?

From $0 to about $100 per seat per month. Over a year for two users: $348 on Zoho Inventory Standard, €336 on DoliCloud Basic, $746.40 on Odoo Standard in year one, €1,176 on Sellsy because its bundle needs two seats and twelve months.

  • Can I track inventory without paying for an ERP?

Yes. Zoho Inventory handles stock and purchase orders from its free plan, and Dolibarr does too for €14 per hosted seat. An ERP like Odoo earns its keep when you manufacture or run several warehouses.

  • Cloud or installed software for a micro business?

Cloud in most cases: no backups to manage, access from your phone or the job site, automatic updates. Installed software only makes sense if you work on one computer and want your data on site. Dolibarr offers both.

  • Can I switch tools easily mid-year?

It depends on the contract. Sellsy commits you for 12 months on every plan. Zoho bills yearly on the prices it shows. Axonaut and DoliCloud offer month-to-month plans. Before signing, check that you can export customers, items and invoices to a file.
