What is the best sales territory management software in 2026?
Eight tools ranked for drawing balanced territories, assigning accounts and getting field reps through their week.
"Territory management" covers two different jobs. One is territory design: who owns which accounts and ZIP codes, and whether the workload is fair. The other is field execution: which customers a rep visits this week, and in what order. Most top-ranking lists are written by a vendor that puts itself first and blends the two. For a field team of 3 to 20 reps outside Salesforce, Badger Maps covers both best, as long as you pay for its territory add-on. For serious design work with a balancing dashboard, eSpatial goes deepest among tools with public pricing. For a one-off realignment, Maptive sells a 45-day pass. Already on Salesforce? Salesforce Maps is the default pick.

The 8 sales territory tools compared
Start with the "Job" column. Some tools are built to design territories, others to run reps inside them, and a few do both. Prices come from each vendor's official pricing page, in US dollars.

How we compared and ranked these tools
We started with the question most lists skip: are you trying to design territories, or to run your reps inside them? A sales ops lead splitting the country between eight reps needs a different tool from a rep who has fifteen customers to see this week. For each tool, we read the official pricing page, what each plan actually includes, and the contract terms (commitment, seat minimums, add-ons sold separately). Then we priced the same five-rep team across every vendor.
We also read user reviews and Salesforce Trailblazer threads, where the real friction shows up: price hikes at renewal, assignment rules that don't fire, maps that are hard to share. Quote-only tools are ranked when they are relevant (Nomadia, SPOTIO, portatour), with "quote only" written as such: we never publish a price that didn't come from the vendor. Enterprise planning suites (Xactly AlignStar, Varicent) and Maptitude sit in a separate section.

Badger Maps
Badger Maps is a field tool first. Your reps see their customers on a map, build the day's route, log the visit, and the CRM updates itself. Business costs $58 per user per month billed annually, or $69 month to month, with up to 2,000 accounts per license. Enterprise is $95 annually, raises the cap to 10,000 accounts per license and adds SSO with SCIM. Monthly billing is a true month-to-month plan with no contract or lock-in.
Here is the catch: real territory design is not in Business. It's called Badger Align and it's priced per territory, $20 a month billed annually, with a five-territory minimum. Five territories add $100 a month to your bill. Territory-based lead routing is a separate add-on at $16 per territory per month. CRM integration is included from two licenses (five for NetSuite). In reviews, rising prices and an early learning curve come up often. Routing and CRM sync get the most praise.
- Routes and account tracking on one map
- True month-to-month billing
- CRM sync from two licenses
- ✓Most complete field tool with public pricing
- ✓About 15% off with annual billing
- ✓CRM integration included, no paid add-on
- ✗Territory design (Align) sold separately, per territory
- ✗Price increases mentioned in reviews
- ✗Learning curve at the start
Our top pick for a field team of 3 to 20 reps that isn't on Salesforce. Five reps on Business annual come to $3,480 a year, plus $1,200 if you add Align for five territories. If you only need to redraw territories once, eSpatial or Maptive fit better.
eSpatial
eSpatial is a design tool. You import accounts, draw territories on ZIP codes, counties or states, and a balancing dashboard shows the workload or revenue in each one. Professional Territory Manager handles up to 100 territories, assigns accounts and also optimizes routes. Advanced adds automatic balancing, what-if scenarios to compare two alignments, six hierarchy levels and 250 territories.
Watch the entry plan: Mapping Pro, at $499 per user per year, includes zero rep territories. You need Professional at $2,665 per user per year, with a three-user minimum, so $7,995 a year at the smallest. Salesforce integration is a $5,995 add-on, and SSO another $7,495. Reviews praise the depth, but keep mentioning the price, clunky navigation and maps that are hard to share across a team.
- Territory balancing dashboard
- What-if scenarios on Advanced
- Up to 250 territories
- ✓Deepest design features with public pricing
- ✓7-day trial without a card
- ✓Route optimization included from Professional
- ✗Mapping Pro has no rep territories
- ✗Three-user minimum, $7,995 a year
- ✗Salesforce sync is a $5,995 add-on
Our pick when you need territories you can defend in front of leadership. Use the seven-day trial for a single realignment, and only sign the annual plan if you redraw several times a year. For one redraw, Maptive's 45-day pass costs far less.
Maptive
Maptive turns a spreadsheet into a map, up to 100,000 points per dataset on Pro. Every tier includes the full toolset: Territory Manager builds balanced territories automatically, and the Boundary Tool draws ZIP code, county and state boundaries. Pro is $1,250 a year for one user, or $110 month to month. Team is $2,500 a year for five users, with shared maps.
The smart move is the 45-day pass: $250, one time, no subscription. It's the right format for your yearly realignment, or when a new rep joins. The limit is clear: Maptive is a mapping and analysis tool, not a field app. Your reps won't plan their daily visits in it like they would in Badger Maps or SPOTIO. Reviews are strong overall, but ease of use scores lower and the first sessions take some getting used to.
- $250 for a 45-day pass
- Auto-balanced territories on every tier
- Monthly billing available
- ✓Best value for a realignment
- ✓Same toolset on every tier
- ✓10-day trial without a card
- ✗No field routing app for reps
- ✗No API on the 45-day pass
- ✗Ease of use rated below the rest
The best pick if you redraw territories once a year and your reps already have a routing tool. Buy a 45-day pass when it's time to realign, and skip an annual plan you'd only use for a month.
Salesforce Maps
Salesforce Maps adds maps, routing and field tracking inside Salesforce. It costs $75 per user per month on an annual contract, and Advanced starts at $125. It isn't included in Sales Cloud: it's an extra product, also offered as a Sales Performance Management add-on, and it runs on your Salesforce licenses. For territory design, Salesforce sells Territory Planning separately, with no public price.
On the rules side, Enterprise Territory Management assigns accounts and opportunities, not inbound leads, so you need something else to route a new lead to the right rep. Trailblazer threads also mention assignment rules that don't fire after an inline edit, and heavy recalculations when a single account changes. Nothing that blocks you, but plan for an admin.
- Maps and routes inside Salesforce
- Territories tied to accounts and opportunities
- Advanced tier for heavier routing
- ✓No sync to maintain with your CRM
- ✓Widest integrations in this ranking
- ✓Rich features on Advanced
- ✗Not included in Sales Cloud, sold on top
- ✗Annual contract on every per-user product
- ✗Inbound leads aren't assigned by territory
The obvious pick if your team lives in Salesforce: five reps on Salesforce Maps come to $4,500 a year, on top of your Salesforce licenses. Outside Salesforce, it's the wrong tool: Badger Maps connects to your CRM for much less.
Map My Customers
Map My Customers covers both jobs: reps plan routes and log visits, and you draw or auto-generate territories by geography, accounts or revenue. Industry Leader starts at $99 per user per month, with a five-user minimum and manual territories. Enterprise, from $139 with a ten-user minimum, adds Smart territories and territory rules.
Read the bill through its minimums: $5,940 a year at the smallest, $16,680 a year for Enterprise. Everything is billed annually with a 12-month commitment. You can upgrade right away, but you only downgrade at renewal. No trial is mentioned, just a demo. Nonprofits get 25% off.
- Drawn or auto-generated territories
- Territory rules on Enterprise
- 25% off for nonprofits
- ✓Both jobs in one tool
- ✓Instant upgrades
- ✓Rich field features
- ✗Five-user minimum, $5,940 a year
- ✗12-month commitment, downgrades only at renewal
- ✗No free trial, demo only
A good pick for teams of ten reps or more that want territory rules without Salesforce. Under five reps, the minimum makes you pay for empty seats: Badger Maps month to month is more flexible.
Nomadia Territory Manager
Nomadia, a French vendor, sells Territory Manager as its territory design product. It builds balanced territories from workload, sales potential and drive time, and lets you compare scenarios.
No price is published: the pricing page sends you to the sales team, and no trial is listed. Routing lives in a separate product, TourSolver, sold on its own. Treat it as a design tool, and pair it with a field app if your reps need to plan daily visits.
- European vendor, based in France
- Territories balanced on workload, potential and drive time
- Scenario comparison
- ✓Built for territory design, not just mapping
- ✓Compares several alignment scenarios
- ✓Vendor support in Europe
- ✗Quote only, no trial listed
- ✗Routing sits in another product (TourSolver)
- ✗No price to compare before a demo
Worth a call if you run teams in Europe and want a vendor close to your data. Bring your account file and your definition of workload to the demo: that's what drives the quote.
SPOTIO
SPOTIO is a field sales platform: prospecting, activity tracking, territory creation and management, territory hierarchies and permissions. The vendor says it's designed for teams of five or more field sales reps. Pricing is per user, but no figure is published: you ask for a quote. There's no free trial, only demos and pilot programs.
The biggest thing to know is the exit, spelled out in SPOTIO's own help center. You must cancel in writing at least 30 days before renewal. You can't leave mid-contract and nothing is refunded. Your data is deleted when the account closes, so export everything first. Put those dates in your calendar on signing day.
- Territory hierarchies and permissions
- Pilot programs before you sign
- B2B, B2C and custom plans
- ✓Strong manager controls for field teams
- ✓Territory creation built in
- ✓Pilot to prove it in the field
- ✗Quote only, no free trial
- ✗30-day notice, no refunds
- ✗Data deleted when you close
A solid tool for field teams of five or more with hands-on managers. Ask for a pilot, and diary the cancellation deadline the day you sign. For a small team, Badger Maps month to month is easier to leave.
portatour
portatour, from Austria, builds routes from your priorities and each customer's visit interval: tell it a customer needs a visit every 30 days, and it fits that into your schedule. You can buy the route planner alone, territory optimization, or a bundle of both.
The trial is the most generous here: 30 days, full version, no credit card, and it ends on its own. Amounts aren't readable on the pricing page, so ask for them. The minimums are listed: one person for the route planner, two for territory optimization, ten licenses for the Salesforce or Dynamics integration, 50 for Veeva.
- Routes built from visit frequency
- Full 30-day trial that ends on its own
- Works from a single rep
- ✓Most generous trial in this ranking
- ✓Useful from one rep
- ✓Short 3-month cycles available
- ✗Prices on request
- ✗Salesforce integration from 10 licenses
- ✗Lighter territory design than eSpatial
A good pick for a rep or small team that wants routes driven by visit frequency. Use the 30-day trial on a real month in the field before you ask for a price.
Designing territories vs running routes: not the same tool
The top results for this search mix both jobs. Sorting them first rules out half the tools before you even look at a price.
The three cases
You need to draw or redraw territories
Territory designYou have an account list and a team, and you need to split one between the other. The right tool draws territories on ZIP codes or counties, shows each territory's workload and potential, and helps you balance them. eSpatial, Maptive and Nomadia are built for this. Salesforce does it with Territory Planning, a separate module.
Tip: decide what "balanced" means first (account count, revenue, visit time). Without that, the most powerful tool will give you territories that look great on a map and fail in the field.

Your reps need to work their territory better
Field routingTerritories exist, but reps lose time driving or forget accounts. The right tool shows accounts on a map, builds the day's route, logs the visit and updates the CRM. Badger Maps, SPOTIO, Map My Customers and portatour are built for this.
Tip: the person using it every day is the rep, on a phone. Have one run the trial for a real week before you sign.

You want both in one tool
One toolBadger Maps with Align, Map My Customers and Salesforce Maps cover both jobs. The bill is where they differ: Badger charges per territory, Map My Customers needs Enterprise and ten users for territory rules, Salesforce charges Maps on top of your licenses.
Tip: two tools can cost less than one. A $250 Maptive pass for the realignment plus Badger Business for daily routes avoids paying for territory design all year.

What will territory software actually cost you?
The sticker price says very little. Add the seat minimum, the territory add-on and the CRM you need underneath. We redid the math from official price lists, before tax, for four typical setups.
The four setups
Five field reps, no Salesforce
Most commonBadger Maps Business is $58 per user per month billed annually: $3,480 a year for five. Add Align for five territories at $20 each: $1,200 more, so $4,680 a year. Month to month with no contract, Business comes to $4,140 a year. Map My Customers Industry Leader costs $5,940 a year for five, on a 12-month commitment. SPOTIO and portatour are quote only.
Tip: start Badger monthly for three months, then switch to annual once the team has adopted it.
- Badger + Align
- $4,680/yr
- Map My Customers
- $5,940/yr
Five reps, already on Salesforce
CRM locked inSalesforce Maps costs $75 per user per month: $4,500 a year for five, on an annual contract, on top of each rep's Salesforce license. Badger Maps also connects to Salesforce, included from two licenses, at $3,480 a year on Business.
Tip: if you already pay for Sales Cloud, compare Salesforce Maps and Badger on the daily route, not on the map.
- Salesforce Maps
- $4,500/yr + Salesforce licenses
- Badger Business
- $3,480/yr
One territory realignment a year
No subscriptionMaptive's 45-day pass is $250 for one user, with the full toolset, balanced territories included. eSpatial's trial runs seven days with no card. A Maptive Pro subscription is $1,250 a year, eSpatial Professional $7,995 a year at the three-user minimum.
Tip: clean your account file (address, revenue, current owner) before starting the pass: the 45 days start on day one.
- Maptive pass
- $250 for 45 days
- eSpatial
- 7-day trial
Three people designing territories all year
Sales opseSpatial Professional Territory Manager is $2,665 per user per year, three minimum: $7,995 a year. Advanced, with auto-balancing and scenarios, is $4,999 per user: $14,997 for three. Maptive Team is $2,500 a year for five users. Nomadia Territory Manager is quote only.
Tip: eSpatial's Salesforce sync ($5,995) costs more than two Professional seats. Check whether a CSV export to your CRM is enough.
- eSpatial Professional
- $7,995/yr (3 users)
- Maptive Team
- $2,500/yr (5 users)
What inflates the bill, and what keeps you locked in
User feedback keeps landing on the same surprises: an add-on you thought was included, a seat minimum, a contract you can't leave. Here's what vendors say themselves, and what to check before signing.
Territory design is often an add-on
Badger Maps charges per territory (Align). eSpatial Mapping Pro has none. Salesforce sells Territory Planning separately. Zoho CRM only includes territory management on its Enterprise and Ultimate editions.
Minimums set the real price
Three users at eSpatial, five at Map My Customers (ten on Enterprise, 35 on Field Intelligence), five reps targeted by SPOTIO, two at portatour for territory optimization. A team of four can end up paying for five seats.
12-month commitment or monthly billing
Salesforce, Map My Customers and Repsly require 12 months. Badger Maps and Maptive run month to month, which gives you time to check adoption before committing.
Plan your exit when you sign
At SPOTIO, you cancel in writing 30 days before renewal, with no mid-year exit and no refund, and data is deleted at closure. Export accounts and visit history before the deadline.
Salesforce doesn't route leads by territory
Enterprise Territory Management assigns accounts and opportunities. A new inbound lead won't go to the territory owner on its own: plan a lead assignment rule or a routing tool.
Redraw when reps join or leave
A rep leaving empties a territory; a new hire needs one. That's the moment to review the whole alignment, not just hand the book to the neighbor.

- CRM sync included, and from how many licenses

Other tools: enterprise, single-purpose or CRM
These tools come up in searches. They aren't ranked because they target very large teams, a narrow use case, or because territories are just one feature of a CRM.

We didn't rank it because it's built for residential canvassing rather than B2B account territories.

Maptitude: the desktop mapping classic
Desktop GISCaliper's Maptitude shows up in many US lists for territory mapping. Desktop Subscription is $795 a year for one user, a 10-year, 1-user desktop license (no subscription) $1,095, and Enterprise Subscription $1,095 to $1,595. We didn't rank it because it's a desktop mapping tool, not a field app or a dedicated territory design suite.

Sales territory management software FAQ
How much does sales territory management software cost?
From a one-time $250 to over $14,000 a year, depending on the job. Maptive's 45-day pass is $250 for a realignment. For five field reps, Badger Maps with territory design comes to $4,680 a year. eSpatial Professional starts at $7,995 a year because of its three-user minimum. SPOTIO, Nomadia and portatour are quote only.
What's the difference between territory design and territory management?
Design is drawing and balancing territories; management is running reps inside them day to day. eSpatial, Maptive and AlignStar focus on design. Badger Maps, SPOTIO and portatour focus on execution. Map My Customers and Salesforce Maps try to do both, at a higher price.
Can I map sales territories in Excel or Google Sheets?
For three reps and a hundred accounts, often yes. Beyond that, a spreadsheet won't show drive distances or workload per territory on a map, and every change is manual. A cheap middle step: load your sheet into Maptive for a 45-day pass, then keep the sheet for tracking.
How do you balance sales territories fairly?
Pick your metric first: account count, revenue, potential, or visit and drive time. Then a tool like eSpatial shows a balancing dashboard per territory, and Nomadia balances on workload, potential and drive time. On eSpatial, automatic balancing only comes with Advanced, at $4,999 per user per year.
How often should you realign sales territories?
Whenever a rep joins or leaves, and at least once a year. It's also when you check that territories still match real revenue. Keep a copy of the old alignment so you can compare both scenarios before announcing changes.
Which territory software integrates with my CRM?
Badger Maps syncs with your CRM from two licenses, five for NetSuite. Salesforce Maps and Geopointe live inside Salesforce. eSpatial's Salesforce sync is a $5,995 add-on. portatour needs ten licenses for Salesforce or Dynamics, 50 for Veeva.
Is there free sales territory mapping software?
No tool here has a lasting free plan for teams; free means trials. Badger Maps offers 14 days (no card for the first 7), portatour gives 30 days of the full version, Maptive ten days, eSpatial seven, all without a card. SPOTIO, Map My Customers and Repsly offer demos or pilots, not trials.
Is Salesforce territory management enough on its own?
For assigning accounts and opportunities, yes, but not for inbound leads, which Enterprise Territory Management doesn't assign. For maps and routes you need Salesforce Maps at $75 per user per month (Advanced from $125) on top of your Salesforce licenses. Territory Planning, for design, has no published price on Salesforce's page.
