What is the best social media management tool for an agency in 2026?

The one that lets you run ten clients without mixing up their accounts or chasing approvals. For 3 people and 10 clients, expect anywhere from $67 to $1,197 a month.

An agency doesn't post more than a brand does. It posts for more people. The real work is keeping each client in its own space, getting posts signed off before they go live, sending a clean report every month, and doing it all ten times over. Any scheduler can schedule. An agency tool handles the rest.

The short answer: Agorapulse is the most complete and best rated, if you can live with per-seat pricing. Metricool is the cheapest per client because it bills per brand. Sendible is the most agency-shaped, with client workspaces and unlimited users on every plan. SocialPilot gets you client approval and branded reports for about $100.

Every number on this page uses the same agency: 3 people, 10 clients, around 30 social profiles, billed monthly. That's where pricing models split. One tool counts seats, another counts brands, a third counts workspaces.

How we compared

How we compared and scored

On Google, the top results for this search are almost all vendor blogs, each one ranking its own product first. Several still quote retired price grids (Sendible "from $29" is the classic), and none tells you which plan lets a client approve a post.

We read every official pricing page line by line: what counts as a user, a profile or a client, which plan unlocks client approval, which puts your logo on reports, and which rebrands the whole interface. Then we went through recent agency reviews, especially the negative ones: client accounts that disconnect, posts that never publish, refund requests turned down.

Hootsuite isn't ranked: approvals and your logo on reports only come with Advanced, up to $399 per user, and its plans page shows no external client approval. SocialBee, Iconosquare and Later are on our first agency ranking, which focuses on content creation; this page is about running many clients. Cloud Campaign and Sked come up often in US searches, but we left them out until we can check their pricing pages. Each tool keeps the score it has on our other pages.

Most complete for agencies

Agorapulse

4.2/5

Agorapulse, founded in Paris, bundles scheduling, a unified inbox for messages and comments, listening and reporting. Two plans matter for agencies. Professional adds simple approval flows, to a teammate or to the client. Advanced lets you invite clients to connect their own profiles, adds five shared calendars and unlocks advanced reports: ROI, group reports, scheduled delivery and PowerPoint export.

Price is the sore point. Agorapulse charges per user, and each extra teammate costs the same as the first. Our sample agency pays 3 × $199 = $597 a month on Advanced, and every plan stops at 10 social profiles. With 30 profiles you'll need add-ons, at $15 per profile a month on monthly billing ($10 annual): 20 extra profiles add $300, for $897 a month.

Agency owners often name Agorapulse and Sprout Social as the two tools whose support actually responds. The complaints: expiring connection tokens, a price that's heavy for small shops, and a shared calendar where different clients end up side by side.

The catch: multi-step approval chains (junior, account lead, then client) are Custom only, on quote. And growing from 3 to 6 people doubles your bill.

Tip: every plan already exports reports with your logo and brand colors. If your client only wants a monthly PDF, Professional may be enough.

Standout features
  • Branded reports on every plan
  • Clients connect their own profiles on Advanced
  • Support agencies actually praise
+Pros
  • ✓Full-featured inbox
  • ✓Polished reports on all plans
  • ✓Strong support
−Cons
  • ✗Per-seat pricing
  • ✗Only 10 profiles below Custom
  • ✗Multi-step approval on quote
Verdict

The most complete pick for an established agency selling services. If your team is growing fast, compare it with Sendible first, which doesn't charge per user.

Cheapest per client

Metricool

4.2/5

Metricool, a Spanish company, bills by brand: one brand is one client with its networks. For an agency, that's the easiest model to budget. Our sample agency takes Advanced with 15 brands: $67 a month billed monthly, $53 billed annually. That makes it the cheapest tool on this list by a wide margin.

Advanced covers what an agency expects: team and client management, a post approval system and a Looker Studio connector (formerly Data Studio) for custom dashboards. From Starter on, you can export reports to PDF and PowerPoint.

The catch: white label only comes with Custom, on quote, which Metricool's help center describes as starting at 50+ brands with a dedicated account manager. The pricing page doesn't list users per plan either, so ask before you sign if you have more than two people. Analytics is its historical strength; the inbox is lighter than Agorapulse's.

Tip: at 15 brands, paying annually saves you $168 a year. Keep one free brand for your own agency accounts.

Standout features
  • Priced per brand, not per person
  • Approvals on Advanced
  • PDF and PowerPoint reports from Starter
+Pros
  • ✓Cheapest at 10 clients
  • ✓Strong analytics
  • ✓Free plan to start
−Cons
  • ✗White label only on Custom
  • ✗Users per plan not listed
  • ✗Lighter inbox than Agorapulse
Verdict

The best value for an agency with modest retainers. If you need to hand clients a fully branded interface, look at Sendible or Vista Social.

3
Most agency-shaped

Sendible

4.1/5

Sendible was built for agencies and its pricing shows it: every plan gives you a number of workspaces (one per client) and profiles, with unlimited users across the board. Client users only ever see their own dashboard, where they preview and approve content. Assignments and approvals start on Plus.

For 10 clients, Plus (3 workspaces) and Premium (7) won't do. You need Elite, with 15 workspaces and 90 profiles, at $299 a month or $254.15 billed annually. Custom branded reports start on Premium. Full white label is limited to Elite and Enterprise for an extra fee; Sendible says pricing starts at $349 a month for Elite.

Reviews praise clear reports and easy handling of dozens of accounts. The complaints: an interface some users find confusing, and a strict refund policy.

The catch: the jump from Premium to Elite. At 8 clients you're already paying for 15 workspaces.

Watch out for comparison posts still quoting "from $29" or a "$240 White Label plan": that's the old grid.

Standout features
  • Unlimited users on every plan
  • One workspace per client
  • Client users see only their dashboard
+Pros
  • ✓Built for agencies
  • ✓Clear reports
  • ✓Predictable per-client cost
−Cons
  • ✗Big jump to Elite
  • ✗Interface some find confusing
  • ✗White label costs extra
Verdict

The best fit for an agency growing its headcount: cost follows clients, not people. Below 7 clients, Premium is enough.

Cheapest client approval

SocialPilot

4.0/5

SocialPilot built its Premium plan for agencies: client approval, white-label reports and unlimited client seats. For our sample agency, Premium covers 25 accounts and 6 users; you're 5 accounts short at $4 each, so $100 + $20 = $120 a month. Only Metricool gets client approval cheaper.

Ultimate, at $200, goes up to 50 accounts, unlimited users, advanced white label and a dedicated account manager.

Reviews like the price and the support. The recurring complaint: scheduling gets glitchy when you queue posts weeks ahead. Check the queue before you go on vacation.

The catch: SocialPilot states that white-label users can't use the Slack integration. If your team approves posts in Slack, you'll have to pick one.

Standout features
  • Client approval on Premium
  • Unlimited client seats
  • Extra accounts at $4
+Pros
  • ✓Low agency price
  • ✓Add-ons sold one by one
  • ✓Well-rated support
−Cons
  • ✗Long-range scheduling can glitch
  • ✗White label disables Slack
  • ✗Lighter reporting
Verdict

The cheapest way to get client sign-off and a report with your logo. If reporting is what you sell, Agorapulse or Metricool go further.

Most flexible approvals

Vista Social

3.9/5

Vista Social ticks the most boxes for the money. Professional already includes a post approval flow. Advanced goes further, with multi-stage approvals for internal teams, outside contributors and clients. One agency review sums up the appeal: clients review and approve content without even creating an account.

For our sample agency, Advanced fits exactly: 30 profiles and 3 users for $199 a month. White-label reports and dashboards need Scale at $449, and extra profiles come in packs of 10.

Review complaints: a few bugs that stayed unfixed, and X moving from included to a paid add-on.

The catch: past 3 people you need Scale (4 users) or a custom Enterprise plan. The price climbs fast for a team of five.

Standout features
  • Multi-stage approvals on Advanced
  • Clients approve without an account
  • 30 profiles for $199
+Pros
  • ✓Very flexible approvals
  • ✓Good profiles-to-price ratio
  • ✓Wide network coverage
−Cons
  • ✗White label only on Scale
  • ✗Few users per plan
  • ✗X is a paid add-on
Verdict

A strong pick for a two- or three-person agency built on client sign-off. Our full Vista Social review covers its paid add-ons.

Easiest client sign-off

Planable

3.9/5

Planable does one thing very well: it shows clients their posts exactly as they'll appear, and collects comments and approval in the same place. Users are unlimited; you pay per workspace, one per client. Basic offers optional approval; Pro adds required approval, which blocks a post until the client says yes. Enterprise adds multi-level approvals.

The math hurts for an agency: 10 clients × $49 = $490 a month on Pro. Planable mentions a discount past 5 workspaces on Enterprise, on quote, so ask for it. Analytics is a paid add-on and white label isn't mentioned on the pricing page.

Freelancers in reviews love the easy approvals. The complaints: a scheduled post that never went out during a holiday, and add-ons that feel overpriced.

The catch: it's not a reporting tool. You'll need a second tool for the monthly report.

Standout features
  • Pixel-accurate post previews
  • Required approval on Pro
  • Unlimited users
+Pros
  • ✓Easiest for the client
  • ✓Trial with no time limit
  • ✓Comments on every post
−Cons
  • ✗Expensive at 10 clients
  • ✗Analytics costs extra
  • ✗No white label listed
Verdict

The smoothest approval tool around, as long as you have few clients or land the Enterprise discount.

7
Deepest and priciest

Sprout Social

3.9/5

Sprout Social has the deepest feature set on this list: inbox, listening, analytics and integrations. But everything is priced per seat, and what agencies need shows up late. Profiles are capped at 5 on Essentials and Standard, unlimited from Professional. External approvers, meaning the client who signs off, are Advanced (and Enterprise) only.

For our sample agency, client approval costs 3 × $399 = $1,197 a month. That's the most expensive option here, $300 more than Agorapulse with its extra profiles.

Agencies running 100+ accounts say support and stability matter more to them than price, and Sprout gets credit on both.

The catch: the pricing page doesn't mention white label.

Standout features
  • Deepest analytics
  • Unlimited profiles from Professional
  • Reputed support
+Pros
  • ✓Very complete
  • ✓Many integrations
  • ✓Stable at high volume
−Cons
  • ✗Client approval only on Advanced
  • ✗High per-seat price
  • ✗No white label listed
Verdict

Worth it only if your clients pay for advanced analytics. For a three-person agency, it's too much. Planning to leave? Read our guide to switching from Sprout Social.

Real cost and traps

What your tool really costs, and where the traps are

For an agency, the starting price in big type means almost nothing. Three questions drive the real bill: what gets counted (people, clients or profiles), which plan lets the client approve, and what "white label" actually means at that vendor.

The cost at 10 clients, per month

Metricool Advanced $67, SocialPilot Premium plus 5 accounts $120, Vista Social Advanced $199, Sendible Elite $299, Planable Pro $490, Agorapulse Advanced $897 with 20 extra profiles, Sprout Social Advanced $1,197. The gap is roughly 1 to 20.

Four ways to count

Per seat: Agorapulse, Sprout Social, Hootsuite. Per brand: Metricool. Per workspace: Planable. Per workspace and profile with unlimited users: Sendible. The bigger your team, the more seat-based tools hurt; the smaller your clients, the more per-brand pricing wins.

Branded reports vs a branded app

Your logo on a PDF report is common: Agorapulse on every plan, Sendible and SocialPilot from Premium. A fully rebranded interface is rare and pricey: Sendible Elite plus a fee, Vista Social Scale at $449, Metricool Custom, SocialPilot Ultimate. Ask which one the vendor is actually selling.
  • Count your clients, your profiles and your team members.
  • Price the month with that exact split, extra profiles included.
  • Check that clients can approve without a paid seat.
  • Ask whether white label covers reports or the whole interface.
  • Get the price of extra profiles and users in writing.
  • Plan how clients reconnect accounts when a token expires.
Set it up right

Six settings to run ten clients without drowning

A two-person agency running eight clients natively ends up spending its days copying posts and chasing sign-offs. The right tool fixes nothing without these six settings.

01

Give each client a workspace, not a folder

First

A separate workspace prevents the post published on the wrong account, the mistake that loses a client. Sendible and Planable price around it; Metricool treats each client as a brand. Name each workspace the way it appears on your invoice.

Rule
One client, one workspace
02

Have clients connect their own accounts

Access

Never ask for client passwords. Agorapulse on Advanced and Sendible let you invite the client to connect their profiles. When a token expires, they renew it in two clicks.

Avoid
Shared passwords
03

Set an approval deadline

Adoption

Past five clients, approvals become the bottleneck. Put a rule in your contract: no answer within 48 hours and the post goes out. Turn on required approval only for clients who insist on it.

Rule
48 hours, then publish
04

Batch the whole month

Production

Send the client the whole month at once instead of post by post. They approve once, you schedule once. One two-person agency that ran eight clients natively says it saves four to five hours per person per week since moving to a tool with client approval.

Cadence
One batch per client per month
05

Automate the monthly report

Reporting

Build one report template per client and schedule it. Agorapulse does it on Advanced; Metricool exports PDF and PowerPoint from Starter. Put the three numbers your client actually reads at the top.

Send
Same day every month
06

Keep an exit door open

Safety

Pricing grids change: Sendible and SocialPilot have both redone theirs, and Vista Social moved X out of its plans. Export your reports monthly and note each renewal date so you can compare at the right moment.

FAQ · 8 questions

Social media management for agencies · FAQ

  • How much does a social media tool cost per client?
For 10 clients, 3 people and 30 profiles, between $67 and $1,197 a month, so roughly $7 to $120 per client. Metricool is cheapest because it bills per brand; Sprout Social is priciest because client approval needs Advanced at $399 per seat.
  • Do clients need a login to approve posts?
Not always. Sendible gives clients a restricted view of their own dashboard, SocialPilot includes unlimited client seats from Premium, and on Vista Social a client can approve without creating an account. Check that client access doesn't count as a paid user.
  • Which social media tools offer white label?
For reports with your logo: Agorapulse on every plan, Sendible and SocialPilot from Premium. For a fully rebranded interface: Sendible Elite plus a fee, Vista Social Scale at $449, SocialPilot Ultimate and Metricool Custom. Most agencies only need the first kind.
  • Sprout Social or Agorapulse for an agency?
Agorapulse for most agencies. Both charge per seat, but client approval starts on Agorapulse Professional at $149 per seat billed monthly, versus $399 per seat on Sprout Advanced. Sprout wins on analytics depth and unlimited profiles from Professional.
  • Is Hootsuite worth it for an agency?
Rarely for a small one. Approvals and your logo on reports only arrive with Advanced, up to $399 per user, and the plans page lists no external client approval. At three people, Agorapulse or Sendible do more for less.
  • When does an agency need a dedicated tool?
Around five clients. Below that, native tools and a shared sheet hold up. Above it, approvals become the bottleneck and wrong-account mistakes creep in. One two-person agency says client approval saved each of them four to five hours a week.
  • What's the best option for a freelancer with several clients?
Metricool Starter (5 brands for $25 a month) is enough to start. Pick Planable if your clients insist on approving every post. Move to Sendible or SocialPilot once you hire.
  • Should I pay annually?
Only after three months of use. Sendible and SocialPilot take 15% off annual plans, Metricool about 20%. But a year locked into the wrong plan costs more than a full month: start monthly, then switch.
