How much does Softr cost?
The 2026 price list, user by user, without the outdated numbers still floating around.
Short answer: Softr has a free plan (5 app users, up to 3 builders) and three paid plans: Basic at $19/month, Pro at $99/month and Business at $329/month, billed yearly. Month to month, it's $25, $119 and $395. Softr overhauled its pricing in 2026, so if a site still quotes $49, $139 and $269, it's showing the old plans. The number that really sets your bill is how many people log in: each plan includes a quota, then charges $1 to $5 a month for every extra user depending on the type.

What each Softr plan costs
Apps, databases, workflows and forms are unlimited on every plan, free included. What changes between tiers: how many people can log in, how many builders can work in the editor, data and workflow quotas, and a few key features such as removing the Softr badge. Softr splits app users in two: Team users share a business email domain with a builder in your workspace; Client users are everyone else, Gmail addresses included.

What pushes your Softr bill up
The sticker price doesn't move. The meters around it do. These are the six surprises that come up most in Softr's community forum and in G2 and Capterra reviews, with the fix for each.
The Gmail rule
A user is a Team user only if they share a business email domain with one of your builders. Any free address (Gmail, Outlook.com, Yahoo) counts as a Client user. Field staff logging in with personal Gmail eat your client quota. Fix: move them to company addresses before you pick a plan.
Basic can't grow
Basic is 5 Team and 5 Client users, full stop. There's no add-on. Client number six forces you to Pro, which takes you from $19 to $99 a month on yearly billing. If the project will grow, price Basic and Pro over twelve months from day one.
The 250-client cliff
Pro caps out at 250 Client users. At 250 you pay $99 + 200 × $1 = $299 a month. At 251 you move to Business: $329 + 151 × $2 = $631. One more client, $332 more. Fix: deactivate dormant accounts, they stop counting.
Extra users are billed monthly
Even on a yearly plan, extra users are charged every month after a 7-day grace period. Your annual budget isn't locked: keep a variable line for it.
Branding sticks until Pro
Basic gives you a custom domain but not badge removal: that's a Pro feature at $99. For a client-facing portal under your own brand, the real entry ticket is $99 a month, not $19.
Workflows that pause
When you hit your monthly action quota (500 free, 2,500 Basic, 10,000 Pro), workflows pause until the next cycle or until you upgrade. Triggers and flow controls don't count, only actions do.
- Count users in two columns: Team (business domain) and Client (everyone else).
- Check every employee's login email: Gmail means Client.
- Project your client count twelve months out: 250 is the expensive line.
- Budget a monthly line for extra users, even on yearly billing.
- Need the Softr badge gone? Start on Pro.
Is free enough, and what does an agency pay?
Two questions keep coming up in Softr's community forum: how far you can go without paying, and how to bill several clients without stacking subscriptions. Here are the numbers, worked out on the official price list.
What the free plan really allows
Free has no end date. You get 5 app users in total, 3 builders, 5K records in Softr's database, 500 workflow actions a month and 5 AI credits. That's enough to demo a mockup to a client, or for a personal tool on top of Airtable or Google Sheets.
It stops you in three places: no domain of your own, the Softr badge everywhere, and no sixth user. An 8-person internal directory already means paying.
Agency: one workspace or one per client?
Softr manages the plan and billing in each workspace's Plan and billing section, and counts users per workspace. Example with 4 clients of 30 users each:
One Pro workspace: $99 + 70 extra clients × $1 = $169, plus 3 domains at $13 = $208 a month. Four Pro workspaces: 4 × $99 = $396 a month, each plan including its own domain. The single workspace costs almost half, as long as you handle separation with permissions.
When to split anyway
Split workspaces when a client wants to pay for its own subscription, when its data must never sit next to anyone else's, or when it keeps the app after your engagement. In that case, open the workspace in the client's name from day one: moving it later is where the friction lives.
- Under 6 users and no need for your domain: stay on Free.
- Several small clients: one Pro workspace, one app per client, role-based access.
- Client pays its own bill: a workspace in its name.
- Every extra domain: $13 a month billed yearly.
How we size the real cost
We took Softr's official price list and billing docs, then read its community forum, G2 and Capterra to see what catches customers off guard. Each scenario starts from the cheapest plan that fits, billed yearly, and adds extra users at Softr's list rates. The math is ours; the unit prices are Softr's.

- Client usersPer user over quota$1 to $2
- BuildersPer extra builder$5 to $20

Five alternatives, priced out
Softr is hard to beat for getting a portal live in a day. But depending on your user count, your team's technical depth or your mobile needs, another tool may cost less. For each one: when it wins on price, and what you give up.
For the full list, including tools not covered here, read our Softr alternatives page.
The tools
Glide: cheaper when the app lives on phones
4.1/5Glide turns a spreadsheet into a mobile app in hours. Explorer is $19 a month billed yearly, Maker $49, Business $199 with 30 business users included. It beats Softr when your app is mostly used on phones by a field team.
The catch: it also bills writes to your data source ($0.02 per update past the quota), so a data-entry-heavy app can cost more than planned. For a branded client portal, Softr is more direct.
At equal headcount, look at email addresses: on Glide Classic, business-email users are the ones you pay for, the reverse of Softr where they are the pricier type. For an internal team on company email, compare Glide Business ($199, 30 business users) with Softr Pro and 30 Team users ($99 + 20 × $3 = $159).
- Entry price
- $19/month (Explorer, yearly)
- Best for
- Field teams, mobile apps
- Limit
- Updates billed by volume
- 30 staff
- Softr $159, Glide $199
Bubble: for a real product, not a portal
4.2/5Bubble builds full web applications with logic, payments and APIs. To publish on your domain, budget $32 a month web-only on yearly billing, $59 with mobile. It beats Softr once you have hundreds or thousands of users, because Bubble doesn't bill per user.
The catch: the bill depends on the workload units your app burns, and a sloppy workflow can eat them fast. It also takes weeks to get comfortable.
At 250 clients Softr costs $299 a month; Bubble Starter web stays at $32 as long as your workload units hold. It's the one case where Bubble is clearly cheaper, if you invest the learning time.
- Entry price
- $32/month (Starter web, yearly)
- Best for
- SaaS, marketplaces
- Limit
- Usage-based cost, learning curve
- At 250 users
- Softr $299, Bubble from $32
WeWeb: a free-form front end, you bring the backend
4.0/5WeWeb gives you a highly customizable interface on the backend of your choice (Xano, Supabase, any API). Essential is $20 a month billed yearly, plus hosting from $13 per app. No per-end-user billing, which matters for a portal with hundreds of clients.
The catch: you need a separate backend, meaning a second subscription and a more technical profile than Softr asks for.
The real cost is WeWeb plus the backend. With Xano, add $85 a month billed yearly: $20 + $13 + $85 = $118, with no end-user cap. Past roughly 70 clients, that pair undercuts Softr Pro.
- Entry price
- $20/month + $13/app
- Best for
- Technical teams, big portals
- Limit
- Backend billed separately
- WeWeb + Xano
- About $118/month
Retool: internal tools for teams that code a little
4.3/5Retool is free up to 5 users, then $10 per builder per month on Team, plus every colleague who uses the apps ($5 a month on Team). It beats Softr on rich back-office tools wired straight into a SQL database.
The catch: you'll write some SQL or JavaScript, and it isn't built for a portal open to your customers (external users are priced separately).
For 1 builder and 50 colleagues using the apps, Retool Team comes to $10 + 50 × $5 = $260 a month, against $159 on Softr Pro ($99 + 20 extra Team users at $3). Retool earns its price through depth, not cost.
- Entry price
- $10/builder/month (Team)
- Best for
- Ops and data teams
- Limit
- Weaker for client portals
- 50 colleagues
- Retool $260, Softr $159
Stacker: describe the portal to AI, pay in credits
3.6/5Stacker generates portals and internal tools from a description, with AI agents included. Standard starts at $50 a month for 250 credits, with no per-seat billing and $100 of credits to try it.
The catch: every AI action draws on the balance, so spend follows usage. And the classic Airtable-synced Stacker is no longer the headline product.
Price doesn't follow headcount, it follows AI usage. A stable portal that rarely changes can live on $50 a month even with hundreds of members; a tool you reshape daily drains the balance fast.
- Entry price
- $50/month (250 credits)
- Best for
- AI-built portals
- Limit
- Variable AI spend
- Users
- Not billed per seat

So, is Softr expensive?
Under the 2026 pricing, Softr is cheaper than before to get started and pricier for big portals: the old Business plan included far more users. Here's when it's worth it, and how to pay less.
Good value if…
Your audience is known and bounded: a team, a few dozen clients, partners. At $99 a month on Pro you get a branded portal, role-based access and 50 clients included, shipped in days without a developer.
Too expensive if…
Your app targets a broad audience or hundreds of members. Past 250 clients, Business plus $2 per extra client quickly tops $600 a month. A tool that doesn't bill per user, such as Bubble or WeWeb, starts to make more sense.
Our take
Softr is still the shortest path from an Airtable base to a clean portal. Start free, go straight to Pro if the portal faces clients, pay yearly, and watch two numbers: Client users and Team users.
- Pay yearly: 2 months free, $240 a year saved on Pro.
- Deactivate inactive accounts every month: they drop out of the count.
- Add your builders as app users: they don't count.
- Nonprofit or school? Ask for the 50% discount.
- Add a card during the trial to stretch it from 7 to 14 days, and cancel before it ends if it isn't a fit.
- Bought yearly too fast? Softr refunds within 30 days of the first payment.

Softr pricing FAQ
How much does Softr cost per month in 2026?
Softr is $0 on Free, $19 a month on Basic, $99 on Pro and $329 on Business, billed yearly. Billed monthly, the same plans cost $25, $119 and $395. Enterprise is custom. On top of that, users beyond your plan's quota are billed every month. Why do some sites still say Softr costs $49, $139 or $269?
Those are the legacy prices, and plenty of sites haven't updated them. Softr changed its plans in 2026: Basic, Pro and Business are now $19, $99 and $329 billed yearly. Customers who subscribed before the change keep their old plan and price as long as their subscription stays active. What's the difference between Team users and Client users?
A Team user shares a business email domain with a builder in your Softr workspace; everyone else is a Client user. Gmail and other free addresses always count as Client, even for employees. Since the two types have different quotas and prices, standardize your team's addresses before you choose a plan. How much does an extra user cost on Softr?
On Pro, an extra Client user is $1 a month and an extra Team user $3. On Business, $2 and $5. Basic allows no add-ons: past 5 Team or 5 Client users you have to move to Pro. Extra users are billed monthly, even on a yearly plan, after a 7-day grace period. Is Softr's free plan enough?
For a prototype, yes: 5 app users, 3 builders, 5K records and 500 workflow actions a month, with no time limit. For real use, no: there's no custom domain, the Softr badge shows, and user number six makes you pay.Which Softr plan removes the Softr branding?
Pro, at $99 a month billed yearly. Basic at $19 gives you a custom domain, but the app still carries the Softr badge. For a client portal under your own brand, Pro is the realistic starting budget. How long is the Softr free trial?
Seven days with Business-level features. Add a credit card and it stretches to 14 days; you're only charged at the end, and nothing is billed if you cancel first. Use it to count your real Team and Client users.Does Softr offer refunds?
Yes, a full refund within 14 days of the first payment on a monthly plan and within 30 days on a yearly plan. Just email Softr support. Handy if you went yearly before measuring your user count.Does Softr have discounts or coupon codes?
Yearly billing gives you the equivalent of 2 months free. Nonprofits and education get 50% off through an official application form. Beyond that, Softr has no standing coupon code, so be wary of sites that promise one.How much does Softr cost for an agency with several clients?
Softr handles the plan and billing in each workspace's Plan and billing section and counts users per workspace, so one workspace per client means one plan per client. For a handful of small portals, a single Pro workspace with several apps is cheaper, since a user present in several apps only counts once. Each extra domain is $13 a month billed yearly.
