How Much Does SurveySparrow Cost?
Both official price grids, annual and quarterly, and what you will actually pay for your use case.
Quick answer: SurveySparrow costs $19 a month on Basic, but only if you prepay the whole year ($228). There is no month-to-month option. The alternative is quarterly billing, where the same Basic plan jumps to $39 a month. Starter is $39 annual or $59 quarterly, Business $79 or $149, and every extra user adds $49 a month.
If you are trying to get a survey tool past finance or onto a company card, this is the page to forward. We pulled every line of the official pricing page, the response quotas on each billing cycle, the fine print on limits, and what users say about auto-renewal. You will come away knowing which plan to buy, for how long, and when Typeform, Tally or Fillout is the cheaper call.
SurveySparrow buttons on this page are affiliate links: if you subscribe through them we earn a commission, and your price stays the same. The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
SurveySparrow pricing plan by plan, annual vs quarterly
SurveySparrow sells several products. The one most people mean is the Surveys suite, the conversational survey builder that asks one question at a time, chat style. It has five plans, and each one comes at two prices: billed yearly or billed quarterly. The headline price on the website is always the annual one.
Two things change between plans: the response quota (a response counts once someone completes and submits the survey) and the number of included users. Basic and Starter are single-seat plans. Business is the first plan built for a team, with three seats. The sixth card is Research Starter, the only other SurveySparrow product with a public price.

Six pitfalls that inflate your bill
Line up the official pricing grid with SurveySparrow's help center and its user reviews, and the same gotchas show up again and again. The product itself gets solid marks (around 4.4 out of 5 on the big review platforms). The pain is on the billing side: how long you are locked in, how responses are metered, and how renewals are handled. Here are the six that hit budgets hardest, with the dollar impact and the workaround for each.
1. The $19 needs a year upfront
The headline price assumes you pay $228 in one go. Without that commitment, your only option is quarterly at $39 a month for the same Basic plan. That gap is huge: Basic on quarterly billing works out to $468 a year, 2.05 times the annual price. On Starter the ratio is 1.51 ($708 vs $468), on Business 1.89 ($1,788 vs $948). The "save up to 40%" banner undersells it: on Basic, annual is 51% cheaper.
2. Quarterly also means fewer responses
You pay more on quarterly and get slightly less. Basic gives 600 responses per quarter, 2,400 a year, versus 2,500 on annual. Starter gives 3,600 per quarter, 14,400 a year, versus 15,000. Only Business is even (9,000 per quarter, 36,000 a year). The bigger issue is the slicing: a single campaign that goes past 600 responses already blows through the quarterly Basic quota, while it would fit inside the 2,500 of the annual plan.
3. Overage responses get locked
Go over your quota and the survey keeps running. New responses still come in, but they stay locked until you upgrade or the quota renews. The data exists, you just have to pay to see it. Extra responses are quote-only, through sales. Also worth knowing: deleting responses does not always free up quota, and deletions cannot be undone.
4. One seat means one person
Basic and Starter include a single seat. Sharing one login across a team is the classic workaround, and it backfires (one login email, no per-person history). Each official seat costs $49 a month, or $588 a year. Two people on Starter therefore cost $88 a month, more than Business at $79 with three seats.
5. Renewal is automatic
Plans renew on their own. The official policy rules out refunds for mid-term cancellations; an unwanted renewal may be refunded, but case by case and with no guarantee. It is the top theme in one-star reviews: customers say they turned off auto-renew, got charged anyway and heard nothing back from support. On annual Business, that mistake costs $948.
6. Tight caps on free and trial
The 14-day trial unlocks Business features with no card, but caps you at 50 responses, then drops the account to Free. Free limits you to 3 active surveys and 10 questions per survey, with no API. After a downgrade you also lose response and report downloads.
- Measure your response volume on Free or the trial before paying anything.
- Only commit to annual if you will survey all year; otherwise compare tools you can pay monthly.
- Put the renewal date in your calendar on day one and confirm auto-renew is really off.
- Set a response limit on every survey so you never cross your quota blind.
- From two users on, compare Starter plus a seat ($88) with Business ($79, three seats).
- Export your responses before any downgrade to the free plan.
How we work out the real cost
We only use prices published by SurveySparrow, in US dollars before tax, and do plain arithmetic: monthly price times the term you pay for, plus seats beyond those included. Nothing from resellers or review sites, no imagined negotiated discounts. Below is a five-person team on Business under both billing cycles. The same math drives the six profiles in the next section. User reviews help us spot pitfalls; they never set a price.
- Business annual, 3 seats included36,000 responses a year, workflows, webhooks, chat support$79
- 2 extra users$49 per user per month$98
- Team of 5, annual$2,124 paid upfront for the year$177
- Same team, quarterly$149 + $98, so $741 per quarter$247
Sales tax extra. CX, 360 and reputation products are quote-only and not included.
What you actually pay, by use case
The right plan comes down to three questions: how many responses a year, how many people in the account, and for how long. Here are six common profiles, priced with the official grid. The highlighted one is the profile we see most often: a small team that wants to share surveys without tripping over each other.

SurveySparrow pricing vs five alternatives
We lined SurveySparrow up against the five form and survey tools its users shortlist most often. Scores come from our own reviews, prices from each vendor's annual pricing. The row that changes everything is monthly billing: SurveySparrow is the only one of the six that does not offer it. If you need a tool for a single campaign, that alone decides it.
Entry paid plan on annual billing, USD per month. Score out of 5 from our reviews.

These six tools bill differently (per plan, per seat, per response volume), so always compare the cost of your own profile, not just the entry price.
So, is SurveySparrow worth the money?
Our take after comparing its pricing with its competitors: SurveySparrow is a strong buy for a small team that surveys all year, and a weak one for almost everyone else. Its 2.9 out of 5 score in our review (2.4 from users) comes mostly from its billing practices, not from the quality of the surveys. Here is when it pays off, and when to walk away.
A good fit if…
You are a team of two or three sending customer surveys year-round. Business at $79 on annual billing, with three seats, 36,000 responses, workflows and webhooks, comes to about $26 per person per month. At that level, few survey tools give a team as much.
A poor fit if…
Your need is one-off: a study, an event, a back-to-school push. With no monthly plan you pay at least a quarter, $117 for Basic. Tally or Fillout cover the same need for one month at $19 to $29, or for free. Same story if your volume is unpredictable: response locking will force your hand.
The break-even point
Business becomes the cheapest plan from the second user on. Starter plus one seat costs $88 a month; Business costs $79 with an extra seat and 21,000 more responses a year. So never buy an extra seat on Basic or Starter: go straight to Business.
Discounts worth asking for
If your company is under two years old with 50 employees or fewer, the startup program gives $2,000 in credit for $500. Students get 50% off and nonprofits 15%, on request. None is applied automatically, so email sales before you pay.
Products sold separately
Always-on NPS tracking, 360 assessments and review management are not in Surveys. They are separate, quote-only purchases. If NPS is your real goal, put SurveySparrow next to tools that publish their CX pricing before you sign.
Our verdict
Our call: SurveySparrow is worth it if you pay annually, size your volume during the trial first, and put the renewal date on the calendar the day you sign. The surveys hold up. What drops it behind Typeform, Tally or Fillout is the billing: no monthly plan and an auto-renewal that does not forgive a missed date.
- Need it for under 3 months: pick a tool you can pay monthly.
- Solo with steady volume: Basic or Starter on annual billing.
- Two or three people: Business annual, never Starter plus a seat.
- More than five people: get an Enterprise quote before stacking seats.
- Startup, student or nonprofit: claim your discount before the first payment.
- Keep a copy of every invoice; you will need it for any refund request.

SurveySparrow pricing FAQ
How much does SurveySparrow cost per month?
On annual billing, SurveySparrow costs $19 a month for Basic, $39 for Starter and $79 for Business, with the full year paid upfront ($228, $468 and $948). On quarterly billing the same plans cost $39, $59 and $149 a month. Enterprise is quote-only. So the real answer depends on two choices, plan and commitment length: Basic paid quarterly costs about twice as much as Basic paid yearly, and comes with a slightly smaller response quota.Does SurveySparrow offer monthly billing?
No. The pricing page only offers quarterly or annual billing, so the shortest paid commitment is three months, which means $117 upfront for Basic. It is the single most repeated complaint in user reviews: if you only need a survey tool for a two-week campaign, you still pay for a full quarter. For short projects, Typeform, Tally, Jotform and Fillout all let you pay month to month. Is SurveySparrow free?
There is a free-forever plan with no credit card required. The official pricing grid lists it at 75 responses per quarter, 1 user, 3 active surveys, 10 questions per survey, 1,000 contacts, 200 emails and no API access. Other official help pages quote a different cap, so check the counter inside your account before running a survey that matters. Treat the free plan as a way to judge the conversational format, not as a real data collection tool. What happens when I hit my SurveySparrow response limit?
Your survey keeps running, but responses over the limit are collected and locked until you upgrade or your quota renews. You cannot read or export them without paying. A response counts once it is completed and submitted, and deleting responses does not always give quota back (deletion is also permanent). The fix is simple: set a response limit on each survey so you always know where your counter stands. How much does an extra user cost?
Each additional user costs $49 a month. Basic and Starter include a single seat, Business includes three. That creates a counterintuitive result: two people on Starter cost $88 a month ($39 + $49), more than Business at $79 with three seats. From the second user on, Business is the cheapest option, and a five-person team on annual Business pays $177 a month. How do I cancel SurveySparrow, and can I get a refund?
Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each term, and the official policy gives no refund if you cancel mid-term. To drop to the free plan, go to the billing section of your account settings and pick Free. If a renewal went through that you did not want, contact support right away with the invoice: refunds are reviewed case by case, with no guarantee. Put the renewal date in your calendar the day you pay.Does SurveySparrow have startup, student or nonprofit discounts?
Yes, three official ones. The startup program gives $2,000 in credit for $500, for incorporated companies under two years old with 50 employees or fewer; credits are non-refundable, expire after 18 months and exclude Enterprise. Students get 50% off and nonprofits 15% off, both by contacting sales. None of these discounts appear in the self-serve checkout, so ask before you pay.Is SurveySparrow cheaper than Typeform or SurveyMonkey?
At the entry tier, yes: $19 on annual billing versus $28 for Typeform Basic and $39 for SurveyMonkey Advantage. The picture flips if you want monthly billing, which SurveySparrow does not offer, or if you add seats on Starter at $49 each. For a team of three to five, Business at $79 with three seats included holds up well against SurveyMonkey's team pricing at $30 per seat per month. How much do the SurveySparrow CX, NPS, 360 and Research products cost?
They are separate products with their own pricing. Research Starter is $199 a month billed annually for 3 users, with MaxDiff, Gabor-Granger, Van Westendorp and conjoint analysis. The 360 assessment module, the CX suite (NPS, CSAT, CES) and online reputation management show no public price, so you need a quote. A Surveys subscription alone does not give you the full NPS dashboard.
