Cognism alternatives: where to go, and how to leave the contract cleanly
Six contact data tools, one per reason for leaving, and a six-step exit plan.
The short answer: Apollo if you want a database and email sequences in one place, with a free plan; ZoomInfo if you sell mostly into North America and have the budget; UpLead if you want verified data with a list price and no sales call; Lusha if you're a solo rep who wants to pay monthly; FullEnrich if mobile numbers are what you need most; LeadMagic if you enrich lists in bulk and want credits that roll over. Two things to know first: Cognism publishes no prices and sells plans with 5 seats included, and its strength is EMEA data, not the US. We compared these six tools and read their pricing pages in 2026.
Our ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link ever changes a score.
Why companies leave Cognism
Cognism does one thing very well: European contact data, and above all mobile numbers checked by hand. Users also like the clean interface and the CRM integrations. People leave for other reasons: the price, the contract, and coverage that thins out once you sell outside Europe. Six reasons, each backed by Cognism's own pages or by user reviews.
No list price, every deal goes through sales
Cognism's pricing page shows no numbers. The price is tailored to the product, your team setup and how you plan to use the platform, and you get it through a demo. No free plan, no self-serve checkout. You end up negotiating before you know whether the data covers your market.
Five seats included, even if you're one person
Both plans, Standard and Pro, come with 5 seats. For a five-rep team that's fine. For a founder doing outbound alone, or a two-person team, it means paying for empty seats. That alone sends a lot of small teams toward tools sold per user, like Lusha or Apollo.
Renewals that customers call a trap
On Capterra and Trustpilot, several customers describe auto-renewals they didn't see coming: no reminder before the deadline, a notice from their rep that landed in spam, little control over billing or renewal from the account. Cognism doesn't publish its term or notice period. It's in your order form, so that's the document to reread.
Weaker coverage in North America
Cognism says it covers EMEA, the US and APAC, without country-level numbers. Reviews agree on the split: European data is solid, data for the US, Canada, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa is thinner. One reviewer puts it bluntly: US, Canadian and LatAm data lag far behind ZoomInfo. If your pipeline has moved to the US, that's the deciding factor.
"Diamond" data doesn't cover the whole database
Diamond Verified phone numbers are checked by a human research team, and that's where Cognism shines. But that check targets the most requested contacts, not every record. Outside that set, reviews mention wrong numbers and stale emails. Cognism holds 3.0 out of 5 on Trustpilot against 4.5 on G2, and most of the gap comes from those data quality complaints.
Credits that drain one contact at a time
At Cognism, 1 credit equals 1 revealed contact. Viewing a contact you already revealed is free during the contract, and credits are shared across the platform, CRM enrichment and the API. Once you run out, you buy more, and reviewers mention export limits. A team that enriches a whole CRM burns through its allowance fast.
You're leaving because… go to…

Cognism alternatives, tool by tool
For each tool: why move to it, who it's for, its main limit, how to switch from Cognism, and what it costs. Prices are the list prices the vendors show in 2026, in US dollars. Scores come from our full reviews when we have one.
The tools
Apollo: data and sequences in one tool, with a free plan
Best overall valueWhy switch to Apollo. It's the opposite of how Cognism sells. Prices are public, there's a free plan, and monthly billing can be canceled any time. Apollo also goes past contact data: you find prospects, drop them into an email sequence and track replies in the same place. A team paying for Cognism plus a separate sequencing tool can fold both into one bill.
Who it's for. Small sales teams and founders running outbound on a budget, especially into the US, where Apollo's coverage is strongest.
Who it's not for. A team that cold calls Europe all day and depends on accurate mobiles: that's the one area where Cognism is still ahead.
The limit. Credits reset at the start of each billing cycle and don't roll over, so whatever you don't use is gone. European mobile data is weaker. The Organization plan needs at least 3 seats.
How to switch. Export your Cognism contacts to CSV or keep them in your CRM, then connect Apollo to the same CRM. Before you cancel, run the free plan on 100 known contacts from your market and compare email and mobile hit rates. Our Apollo review breaks down credits by plan.

ZoomInfo: when your market is North America
US coverageWhy switch to ZoomInfo. It answers the most specific complaint about Cognism: North American coverage. Cognism users write that its US, Canada and Latin America data falls well short of ZoomInfo's. If most of your pipeline now sits in the US, database depth matters more than anything else on this page.
Who it's for. Structured sales teams with a real budget, selling into North American companies, with the headcount to work a very large database.
Who it's not for. A solo rep or small business leaving Cognism over price and contract terms: ZoomInfo sells the same way.
The limit. Quote-based pricing, annual commitment, 3 seats minimum. Our review scores its value for money 2.6 out of 5 and its support 2.8. You change coverage, not the buying model.
How to switch. Ask for a sample on your exact segment before you sign, and negotiate the renewal clause in the first contract, not the second. Our Apollo vs ZoomInfo comparison helps you decide whether the premium is worth it, and ZoomInfo pricing explains how the quote gets built.

UpLead: verified contacts with a price tag, no demo required
Self-serveWhy switch to UpLead. UpLead sells the way Cognism doesn't: you pick a plan on the website and start. One credit buys one contact, the same simple unit Cognism uses, but you see the price before you talk to anyone. There's a 7-day trial with 5 credits to check the data on your own accounts.
Who it's for. Small and mid-size US teams that want verified emails and mobiles on demand, without an enterprise contract.
Who it's not for. Teams that need thousands of contacts a month: at 170 credits on the entry plan, volume gets expensive.
The limit. Essentials gives 170 credits a month, Plus gives 400. Extra credits cost $0.60 on Essentials and $0.50 on Plus. The Professional plan is quote-based and annual, so the bigger tier brings back a sales conversation.
How to switch. Use the trial on five contacts you know well, then take the monthly plan for one cycle before committing to annual billing. Compare your hit rate on mobiles with what Cognism gave you on the same accounts.
- Trial
- 7 days, 5 credits
- Paid
- Essentials $99/mo or $74 billed yearly, Plus $199 or $149
- Unit
- 1 credit = 1 contact
- Limit

Lusha: the easiest exit for a solo rep
No contractWhy switch to Lusha. Lusha fixes the two most common complaints about Cognism: you buy it per user and per month, and the prices are public. Start with 40 free credits a month, then move to Starter once you've checked the data covers your accounts. It's also the easiest tool on this list to pick up: 4.5 out of 5 for ease of use in our review.
Who it's for. A rep, a founder or a two-to-three person team prospecting a few hundred contacts a month who never wants to sign an annual contract again.
Who it's not for. A team that needs phone numbers in volume: that's where the bill climbs.
The limit. An email costs 1 credit, a phone number costs 5. Starter's 400 credits buy 400 emails, or only 80 phone numbers. That's why value for money scores 2.6 out of 5 in our review, its weakest point.
How to switch. Lusha takes minutes to set up. Run the free plan on prospects Cognism already had, and compare line by line. Annual billing saves about 25%. Our Lusha pricing page runs the math for your volume.

FullEnrich: several providers in a row to find the mobile
MobilesWhy switch to FullEnrich. If you stayed with Cognism for its verified mobiles, look here. FullEnrich doesn't own a database: it queries several data providers one after another, a waterfall, until it finds an email or a phone number. You pay per credit, with no seat minimum and public tiers.
Who it's for. Teams that call and already have their lists (a LinkedIn export, a CRM, Apollo) and want to fill in the numbers.
Who it's not for. A team that wants to search for new accounts by industry or size: FullEnrich fills in contacts, it doesn't find companies.
The limit. The price rises fast with volume: $655 a month billed yearly for the 15,000-credit tier. And since it relies on other providers, hit rates vary by country and job title.
How to switch. Take 100 contacts whose numbers you already know, run them through the 50 trial credits and count the correct ones. If the rate works, keep Apollo or your CRM for search and FullEnrich for mobiles. Our FullEnrich review lists every tier.

- Trial

LeadMagic: bulk enrichment with credits that carry over
VolumeWhy switch to LeadMagic. The pitch is volume at a known price. The Essential plan gives 5,000 credits for $99 a month, and on monthly plans unused credits roll over, up to twice your allowance. That's the opposite of the use-it-or-lose-it model most data tools run on.
Who it's for. Ops and growth teams that enrich large lists in batches and want predictable spend.
Who it's not for. Someone who wants to try before paying: there are no free credits.
The limit. No free tier, and a mobile number costs 5 credits, so 5,000 credits means 1,000 mobiles at most. Higher tiers jump to $249, $499 and $849 a month.
How to switch. Take one month on Essential, push the export of your Cognism contacts through it, and compare the result to what you paid per revealed contact. Annual billing on Essential is $990 a year.

- Essential $99/mo ($990/yr), Growth $249, Professional $499

The 6 alternatives side by side
Our default picks: Apollo for a team that wants everything in one place, ZoomInfo for a team whose market is the US. The rest depends on your need: self-serve, solo, mobiles or bulk. One row per tool: on the left how you buy it, on the right the first price and what it really gets you.

Leaving Cognism in six steps
Order matters. Your renewal date drives everything else, so start there, not with the tool shortlist.
The steps
Find your renewal date and notice clause
FirstCognism doesn't publish its contract length or notice period: it's all in your order form. Pull it out, note the end date and how far ahead you must give notice. Competitors quote a figure, but only your contract counts, so read yours.
Put a calendar reminder well before that window. Most horror stories in reviews start with a deadline discovered too late.
- Document
- signed order form
- Risk if rushed
- another full year
Give notice in writing and keep proof
ProofSend your non-renewal notice in writing, to your account contact and to any address the contract names, and ask for confirmation. One Capterra reviewer says they got renewed because their rep's notice went to spam: watch your inbox and follow up if nothing comes back.
Tip: before you give notice, ask Cognism what share of your segment is Diamond verified. A high share is leverage to renegotiate; a low one is a reason to go.
- Format
- written, with confirmation
Export your revealed contacts before the contract ends
DataCognism exports to CSV and syncs with Salesforce, HubSpot, Pipedrive, Microsoft Dynamics, Outreach and SalesLoft. Viewing a contact you already revealed is free, but only during the contract. Run the full export before the end date.
Also reread the clause on using data after the contract: some data vendors require you to delete what you exported. Better to know before you build sequences on it.
- Formats
- CSV, CRM sync
- When
- before the end date
Compare alternatives on 100 contacts you already know
MethodTake 100 contacts from your market whose email and phone you already have. Run them through the free options: Apollo (free plan), Lusha (40 credits a month), FullEnrich (50 credits), UpLead (7-day trial). Count correct emails and correct mobiles, not just results returned.
This test beats any demo: it measures the tool on your country, industry and job titles.
- Sample
- 100 known contacts
- Measure
- share of correct data
Take over Do Not Call screening
ComplianceCognism flags numbers on Do Not Call lists in the US, the UK (TPS), Australia, France, Germany and other countries. Your next tool may not. Check its documentation, and if it doesn't, scrub your call lists yourself against the relevant registries before the first campaign.

- Do Not Call registry
Reconnect the CRM and sequences, then switch off
Day oneConnect the new tool to your CRM, map the fields (mobile, direct dial, verified email), and turn off the Cognism sync so two sources don't write to the same records. Run a first sequence on a small list and check the bounce rate before you scale up.

What makes a Cognism exit go wrong
The same mistakes show up again and again in reviews from customers who left. None of them is technical: they're calendar or method slips, and each costs more than the time it would have taken to avoid it.
Finding the notice window too late
Auto-renewal is the most common complaint. If you wait until the last month to look at your contract, you may be locked in for another year. Read the order form the day the idea of leaving comes up.
Canceling before exporting
Viewing a revealed contact is free during the contract, not after. Export everything, check the file, and only then let the contract lapse.
Choosing on a demo
A demo shows the best records in the database. Your 100-contact test shows the truth for your market. Skip it and you may swap a tool that's weak in the US for one that's weak in Europe.
Comparing credits that aren't worth the same
At Cognism, 1 credit is 1 contact. At Lusha, a phone number is 5 credits. At Apollo, credits don't roll over. Bring every offer back to the cost of one correct mobile and one correct email. Our Apollo vs Lusha and ZoomInfo vs Lusha pages do that work.
Thinking Kaspr is a different vendor
Cognism bought Kaspr, a Paris company, in 2022, and both brands are still sold separately. If you're leaving over data quality or the vendor relationship, look at another group. If it's only price and the 5 seats, Kaspr's per-license plans can still work.
Forgetting Do Not Call screening
Cognism flagged DNC numbers for you. A tool that doesn't leaves your reps calling people who opted out. Add screening to your process before the first campaign. For related cases, see our ranking of the best B2B prospecting tools, our ZoomInfo alternatives and our guide to switching from Hunter.
- End date and notice clause noted from the order form

- Post-contract data use clause reread
- 100-contact test run in at least three tools
- Do Not Call screening taken over
- CRM fields mapped, Cognism sync turned off
- First sequence run on a small list, bounces checked
Cognism alternatives: frequently asked questions
How much does Cognism cost?
Cognism doesn't publish prices: you get a quote after a demo, based on the product, team size and usage. What is public: two plans, Standard and Pro, each with 5 seats included, and 1 credit per revealed contact. Always ask for the price of extra credits before you sign.
Is Cognism worth it for US-focused teams?
Usually not as your only source. Reviews consistently rate its North American coverage below its European data, and below ZoomInfo's. If most of your accounts are in the US, run a 100-contact test against ZoomInfo or Apollo before renewing. Our ZoomInfo review covers the trade-offs.
Cognism vs ZoomInfo: which one should I pick?
Cognism for EMEA and verified mobiles, ZoomInfo for North America and database depth. Both are quote-based with annual terms, so the choice comes down to where your buyers are. ZoomInfo needs 3 seats minimum, Cognism plans include 5.
Does Cognism have a free trial?
There's no free plan and no self-serve signup: access goes through a demo. If you want to compare without a sales call, Apollo and Lusha have free plans, FullEnrich gives 50 trial credits and UpLead offers a 7-day trial.
Are Cognism alternatives GDPR compliant?
It depends on the vendor, and a badge on a homepage isn't proof. Ask each one for its data processing agreement, its list of subprocessors and where data is stored. Kaspr, owned by Cognism, was fined €240,000 by France's data protection authority at the end of 2024, which shows the question is worth asking.
How do I cancel Cognism without getting auto-renewed?
Find the notice period in your order form, then send written notice well ahead of it and ask for confirmation. Cognism doesn't publish that period, so only your contract counts. Keep a record of every exchange and follow up if you get no answer.
Can I keep the contacts I exported from Cognism?
Cognism says a revealed contact can be used throughout the contract, and nothing public covers what happens after. Read the data use clause before you leave. When in doubt, export everything and ask in writing what you're allowed to keep.
Does Cognism screen Do Not Call lists?
Yes: Cognism checks DNC and TPS lists in the US, the UK, Australia, France, Germany and other European countries, and flags those numbers. Check that your next tool does the same; if not, scrub your lists yourself before calling.
