Gorgias alternatives: where to go, and how to leave without losing a conversation
Seven destinations matched to your reason for leaving, plus a seven-step exit plan.
The short answer: Re:amaze if you want the closest thing to Gorgias at a lower price, Richpanel if per-ticket billing is the problem and you would rather pay per seat, eDesk if you also sell on Amazon, eBay, Walmart or other marketplaces, Zendesk or Freshdesk if your team is growing and needs real workflows, Help Scout if most of your support is email, and Crisp if you want a flat monthly price. One thing to know first: the self-serve Gorgias export does not include message text. You have to ask their support team for it. We compared all seven tools and checked their 2026 pricing pages.
The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a score.
Why stores move off Gorgias
Gorgias earned its place as the default helpdesk for Shopify stores, and merchants still like being able to refund, cancel or edit an order without leaving the ticket. People leave for other reasons: pricing that scales with your volume, AI that is billed twice, and a support experience that frustrates Gorgias's own customers. Here are six, all checked in 2026.
Your bill grows with every busy week
Each plan includes a monthly ticket allowance: 50 on Starter ($10), 300 on Basic ($60 monthly, $50 billed yearly), 2,000 on Pro ($360, or $300), 5,000 on Advanced ($900, or $750). Every extra ticket costs $0.40 on Starter and Basic and $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. Upgrading is manual, so a Black Friday you did not plan for turns into overage charges.
AI Agent conversations are counted twice
An AI Agent interaction costs $0.90 on an annual plan, $1.00 monthly, and $1.50 once you go past your plan. Gorgias also states that each AI interaction counts as one helpdesk ticket. Included AI interactions are modest: 30 on Starter and Basic, 190 on Pro, 530 on Advanced.
Billing rules you need to memorize
A ticket becomes billable as soon as one message leaves your helpdesk, whether an agent, the AI or a rule sent it. It is counted once, however long the thread. But an email reply that comes more than 10 days after the last message opens a new billable ticket, and on chat the window is only 3 days. One auto-reply rule is enough to bill a ticket nobody read.
Shopify features that quietly disappear
Merchants report that live cart visibility was removed, and that Gorgias support did not seem aware of it. Others point out that the Shopify integration still cannot tell B2B buyers from retail customers. For a tool people pick because it sits close to Shopify, that hurts.
Support by email only
Recent reviews keep landing on the same issue: no live chat with Gorgias support, email replies, and fixes that take a long time. One merchant on a trial describes a store sync problem still open after a full week; another has waited months for a way to change what the AI Agent answers.
Updates and billing that sour the relationship
Some recent reviews target the interface after recent updates and the amount of AI promotion, including in marketing emails. More serious: some customers describe being charged after their access was cut. If you leave, write down your renewal date and keep proof of your cancellation.
You're leaving because… go to…
Which tool fits depends on what is pushing you out. Find your line; the full card is right below.

Gorgias alternatives, one card per tool
Every card answers the same questions: why move there, who it suits, where it falls short, how to bring your data, and what it costs. Prices are the ones each vendor lists in 2026.
The tools
Re:amaze: the closest replacement, for less
Closest to GorgiasWhy move to Re:amaze. It is the tool that feels most like Gorgias: one shared inbox for email, chat, social and SMS, built for online stores. The difference is the pricing model. You pay per team member, not per ticket: Basic at $29 a month ($26 billed yearly), Pro at $49 ($44), Plus at $69 ($62). If your team is large but your volume is moderate, the Starter plan costs $59 a month for unlimited members, with 500 answered conversations a month.
Who it's for. A store with 2 to 10 people who want to keep their Gorgias habits without paying for every order spike.
Who it's not for. A team that expects AI to handle most messages. Re:amaze includes 5, 10 or 20 AI resolutions per member depending on the plan, then charges $0.85 per resolution.
The catch. Starter stops at 500 answered conversations a month. Above that you are back on per-member pricing, so run that math before you commit.
How to migrate. Request the full export from Gorgias support first (macros, tags, customers, help articles, message text), then open the 14-day trial, no card needed. Rebuild your saved replies from the macro export before you connect your store, so your team has them on day one.
- Price
- from $26 per member, yearly
- Team plan
- Starter $59, 500 conversations
- AI
- $0.85 per extra resolution
- Trial
- 14 days, no card
Richpanel: pay per seat instead of per ticket
No per-ticket feesWhy move to Richpanel. Richpanel built its offer against the Gorgias model: $99 per seat per month billed yearly ($119 monthly), and the pricing page says it plainly, no per-ticket fees. Holiday volume no longer moves the human side of your bill. Richpanel targets Shopify brands first and sells a returns and exchanges module from $99 a month.
Who it's for. Brands handling a lot of tickets with a small team. That is where seat pricing beats ticket pricing most clearly.
Who it's not for. A store handling a few hundred tickets a month. At that volume, Gorgias Basic or Re:amaze costs less than a single Richpanel seat.
The catch. AI is not included in the seat. It is metered, with a $200 monthly minimum, and the bundle with one seat plus AI starts at $299 a month. If you are leaving Gorgias to escape AI charges, check this against your real volume.
How to migrate. No vendor here does more to help you leave: Richpanel says it handles the migration and can cover up to 100% of your remaining Gorgias contract, under conditions. Get those conditions in writing before you cancel anything.
- Price
- $99 per seat, yearly
- Tickets
- no per-ticket fees
- AI
- $200 monthly minimum
- Migration
- handled, remaining contract covered under conditions
eDesk: when you also sell on marketplaces
Marketplace sellersWhy move to eDesk. Gorgias is designed around your own store. If part of your revenue comes from Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Kaufland or a Mirakl-based marketplace, those messages land somewhere else, each with its own response-time rules. eDesk pulls them into one inbox alongside Shopify, WooCommerce, Magento or PrestaShop, with the order next to every question.
Who it's for. Multichannel sellers. In our selection, it is the tool built around marketplaces first.
Who it's not for. A brand that only sells on its Shopify store. You would be paying for connections you never use.
The catch. The number of connected stores depends on the plan: 1 on Essential, 5 on Growth, 10 on Professional. A seller on six channels goes straight to the middle tier.
How to migrate. Connect your marketplaces first during the 14-day trial, no card needed: they bring most of the new messages. Your Gorgias history follows through the export from Gorgias support or a migration service.
- Price
- from $45 per agent, yearly
- Stores
- 1, 5 or 10 by plan
- AI
- $0.99 per outcome
- Trial
- 14 days, no card
Zendesk: the structure of a large support team
Growing teamsWhy move to Zendesk. When your team grows from three people to fifteen, the job changes: queues, roles, response-time targets, reporting by channel. Zendesk has done this for years. Support Team costs $19 per agent per month billed yearly ($25 monthly), Suite Team $55 ($69), Suite Professional $115 ($149).
Who it's for. Stores with a real support team, several brands or several countries, and someone to own the admin work.
Who it's not for. A two-person shop. You would pay for structure you do not need, and the setup takes time.
The catch. Support Team handles email only; chat comes with the Suite plans. AI follows the same logic as Gorgias: 5 to 10 included resolutions per agent, then $1.50 per resolution committed or $2.00 pay as you go. We score it 3.6 out of 5 in our Zendesk review.
How to migrate. Zendesk is the destination migration services know best. Run a small demo batch, check that tags and internal notes land in the right place, then move the rest.
- Price
- from $19 per agent, yearly
- Chat
- from Suite Team, $55
- AI
- $1.50 per committed resolution
- Our score
- 3.6 out of 5
Freshdesk: similar structure, lower entry price
Lower entry priceWhy move to Freshdesk. Freshdesk gives you much of Zendesk's structure for less: Growth at $19 per agent per month billed yearly, Pro at $55, Enterprise at $89. Like Zendesk, you pay per agent, not per ticket.
Who it's for. A team of 3 to 20 people who want rules, views and reports without a Zendesk budget.
Who it's not for. A store that wants Shopify order actions at the heart of every ticket the way Gorgias does it. Freshdesk is a general helpdesk, not one born for ecommerce.
The catch. Freddy AI comes with 500 sessions, once, and then costs $49 per 100 sessions. The free plan does not last either: 2 agents for 6 months. Our page on switching from Freshdesk covers why its own customers leave.
How to migrate. Freshdesk accepts imports through migration services. Plan to rebuild your automation rules by hand: Gorgias Rules do not travel.
- Price
- from $19 per agent, yearly
- Free
- 2 agents for 6 months
- AI
- $49 per 100 Freddy sessions
- Model
- per agent, not per ticket
Help Scout: for support that lives in email
Free to startWhy move to Help Scout. If most of your requests come in by email, Help Scout is, of the seven tools here, the one that feels most like an ordinary mailbox: a shared inbox, a help center, and a free plan for 5 users with one inbox and one help site. Paid plans start at $25 per user per month (Standard), then $45 (Plus) and $75 (Pro).
Who it's for. A small brand, a maker shop, an online course business: teams that answer questions rather than hundreds of order requests a day.
Who it's not for. A store whose support lives in chat and social, or that wants to act on orders from inside the ticket.
The catch. The free plan stops at one inbox. Once you split after-sales from pre-sales questions, you pay. AI costs $0.75 per resolution.
How to migrate. Use the 15-day trial to import a sample of tickets and confirm threads arrive intact. Then rebuild your saved replies from your macro export.
- Free
- 5 users, 1 inbox
- Paid
- from $25 per user
- AI
- $0.75 per resolution
- Trial
- 15 days
Crisp: one flat price per workspace
Flat pricingWhy move to Crisp. Crisp removes both Gorgias meters at once: no per-ticket price and no per-agent price. You pay per workspace: Mini at $45 a month (4 seats), Essentials at $95 (10 seats), Plus at $295 (20 seats). The company is based in France, which matters if you sell in Europe and care where your vendor sits.
Who it's for. A store with 2 to 10 people whose support runs mostly through website chat.
Who it's not for. Teams above 10 people, because the jump from Essentials to Plus is steep, and brands that need deep reporting.
The catch. The flat price covers the platform, not AI: each AI-handled conversation costs $0.10. We score it 4.2 out of 5 in our Crisp review.
How to migrate. Run the Crisp chat on your store next to Gorgias for a few days while the team gets used to it. Keep the Gorgias export as an archive: on a chat-first tool, old email history is mostly there to look up a customer.
- Price
- $45, $95 or $295 a month
- Seats
- 4, 10 or 20 by plan
- AI
- $0.10 per conversation
- Our score
- 4.2 out of 5
Gorgias and 7 alternatives side by side
The one thing to compare first is what each tool charges for. Gorgias bills the ticket, Richpanel the seat, Re:amaze, eDesk, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Help Scout the team member, Crisp the workspace. Almost all of them bill AI separately. Left: what you actually pay for. Right: entry price and AI cost.
| What you pay for | Entry price and AI | |
|---|---|---|
| GorgiasStarting point | Per ticket: 50 to 5,000 included, then $0.36 to $0.40 each | Starter $10 a month; AI $0.90 to $1.50, and each interaction also counts as a ticket |
| Re:amazeClosest match | Per member, or flat Starter plan for the team | Basic $26 per member yearly; AI $0.85 beyond the allowance |
| RichpanelNo ticket fees | Per seat | $99 per seat yearly; metered AI, $200 monthly minimum |
| eDeskMarketplaces | Per agent, store count by plan | Essential $45 per agent yearly; AI $0.99 per outcome |
| ZendeskLarge teams | Per agent | Support Team $19 yearly; AI $1.50 per committed resolution |
| FreshdeskLower entry | Per agent | Growth $19 yearly; $49 per 100 Freddy sessions |
| Help ScoutEmail-first | Per user, free up to 5 | Standard $25; AI $0.75 per resolution |
| CrispFlat price | Per workspace | Mini $45 a month for 4 seats; AI $0.10 per conversation |

Leaving Gorgias in seven steps
Leaving Gorgias comes down to the export: what you can pull yourself is incomplete, and the rest has to be requested. Follow the order; each step protects either your history or your bill.
The steps
Read your contract and your last invoice
FirstFind your renewal date, your plan, your ticket allowance and what you paid in overage over the last few months. That number is your baseline for comparing quotes, and some vendors care about it: Richpanel says it can cover up to your entire remaining contract, under conditions.
On an annual commitment, plan the switch a few weeks before renewal, not after.
- Write down
- renewal date, overage paid
- If rushed
- another year to pay
Run the native export as a backup
Day 1In Gorgias, open a view containing all your tickets, select them and run the export as a bulk action. You get a download link by email. Expect about an hour per 100,000 tickets and up to ten hours for one million, which is the cap. The link expires after 14 days, so download the file right away and store it outside Gorgias.
This export is available on every plan to the account owner, admins and leads.
- Cap
- 1 million tickets
- Link valid
- 14 days
Ask support for the full export
The trapA view export does not include message text. The analytics export includes public message text, but only for the last 30 days and up to 100,000 tickets, without internal notes. To get everything (message text, macros, tags, customer records, help center articles), email Gorgias support with your subdomain, the data you need, the date range and the address that should receive the file.
Send that request on day one. Support answers by email and there is no promised turnaround.
- Include
- subdomain, data, range, email
- Without it
- history with no text
List what will not migrate
RebuildRules, views, routing, SLAs and reports stay in Gorgias. Macros export with their name, body and tags but without their actions (set status, add tag, refund). Screenshot every rule and note what each macro triggers.
That list becomes your setup checklist in the new tool.
- Stays behind
- rules, views, routing, reports
- Partial
- macros without actions
Run a trial migration on a small batch
CheckA service like Help Desk Migration offers a free demo on 20 tickets and 20 articles. Check the result in your new tool: are threads in order, tags present, customers linked? Look first at your longest tickets and those with large attachments; they are the ones that break most often.
- Demo
- 20 tickets, 20 articles
- Watch
- long threads, heavy attachments
Switch off automations on both sides, then transfer
Cutover dayTurn off your Gorgias Rules during the transfer, and keep the new tool's automations off while history is coming in. Otherwise old tickets can fire auto-replies to customers you served months ago, and every reply sent from Gorgias makes a ticket billable.
- Turn off
- Gorgias Rules and target rules
- If forgotten
- old customers pinged, tickets billed
Catch up on recent tickets, then move your channels
DoneRun one last migration that only picks up tickets created since the main transfer. Then forward your support address, swap the chat widget on your store, and reconnect Shopify and your social accounts to the new tool. Keep Gorgias open until renewal with Rules off: an incoming ticket nobody replies to is not billed.
- Order
- catch-up, then channels
- Gorgias
- open until renewal, no replies

What makes a Gorgias exit go wrong
Exits that go badly tend to fail for the same reasons. None of them is a technical problem; they are skipped steps or steps done in the wrong order.
Assuming the export is enough
The file you download from a view gives you tickets, dates, tags and customers, but not what anyone wrote. A team that cancels with only that file loses the memory of every conversation. Wait until the full export from support is in your hands.
Forgetting what macros used to do
Your saved replies arrive in the new tool, but not the extra actions behind them: closing the ticket, tagging, triggering a refund. Your team finds out on a busy day. Rebuild those actions before cutover.
Letting a rule reply during the transfer
An acknowledgment rule still live in Gorgias keeps replying, and each reply bills a ticket. A rule live in the new tool wakes up old customers. Switch off both.
Comparing prices without AI
Almost every destination charges for AI separately, per outcome, per resolution or per conversation. Compare on your real numbers: how many conversations AI handles for you each month today, and what each tool would charge for them.
Cancelling before you have everything
The export link only lives 14 days, and the support request takes time. Keep your account until renewal with Rules off, and cancel only after you have opened and checked every file.
Switching during peak season
A migration needs a few days of attention from the whole team. In the middle of an order peak, that is exactly what you do not have. Aim for a quiet month and leave a buffer before your renewal date.
- Renewal date and overage paid written down
- Native export downloaded and stored outside Gorgias
- Full export requested from support (text, macros, tags, customers, articles)
- Rules, views and macro actions listed and screenshotted
- Trial migration checked on long threads and attachments
- Rules off in Gorgias and in the new tool during transfer
- Recent tickets caught up before moving channels
- Support address, store chat and Shopify reconnected
- AI cost calculated on your real volume
- Gorgias kept until renewal, cancellation confirmed in writing
Gorgias alternatives: frequently asked questions
Does Gorgias have a free plan?
No. The cheapest plan, Starter, costs $10 a month, monthly billing only, for 50 tickets. Gorgias does offer a 7-day trial with no card. If you need a real free tier, Help Scout is free for up to 5 users with one inbox.
What is the best Gorgias alternative for a small Shopify store?
Re:amaze if you want email, chat and social in one inbox: its Starter plan is $59 a month for the whole team, up to 500 answered conversations. Help Scout if you mostly answer email and want to start free. Our guide to live chat for ecommerce goes deeper on store chat.
Is there a Gorgias alternative that doesn't charge per ticket?
Yes, every tool on this page. Richpanel charges per seat, Re:amaze, Zendesk, Freshdesk, eDesk and Help Scout per team member, Crisp per workspace. AI is still metered almost everywhere, per resolution, outcome or conversation.
How much does the Gorgias AI Agent cost?
$0.90 per interaction on an annual plan, $1.00 monthly, and $1.50 beyond your plan. An interaction counts as automated when no human steps in within 72 hours, and it also counts as a ticket, so one conversation can cost you a ticket plus an AI interaction.
Which AI support agents work as Gorgias alternatives?
Every destination here sells AI on top: Re:amaze at $0.85 per resolution beyond the allowance, eDesk at $0.99 per outcome, Help Scout at $0.75, Crisp at $0.10 per conversation, Zendesk from $1.50. Our ranking of AI agents for customer support covers standalone options.
Is Shopify Inbox enough to replace Gorgias?
For a small store whose support happens in chat, it can be. Shopify Inbox is free, built by Shopify, and shows the products a customer viewed, their cart and their orders inside the conversation. Once email, social or several agents come into play, you need a real support tool.
What is the best Gorgias alternative for Amazon sellers?
eDesk, built for sellers on several marketplaces: Amazon, eBay, Walmart, Kaufland and Mirakl-based ones. Pick the plan by store count: 1 on Essential, 5 on Growth, 10 on Professional.
Gorgias or Zendesk: which one should I choose?
Gorgias for a small Shopify store that wants to act on orders from the ticket; Zendesk for a growing team that needs queues, roles and deeper reporting. Zendesk is priced per agent, from $19 billed yearly. Our list of Zendesk alternatives compares its rivals.
