Peec AI alternatives: where to go and how to move your prompts

Seven destinations, one per reason to leave, and a six-step migration plan.

The short answer: Otterly if you want to pay less and get Perplexity included, HubSpot AEO if your team already runs HubSpot, Scrunch if you want page audits and five seats, AthenaHQ if you need Claude, Grok or Mistral, and SE Ranking, Semrush or Ahrefs if you want SEO and AI visibility in one tool. One thing before you go: your Peec history doesn't transfer anywhere. Export it to CSV first. We compared these seven tools and reread their pricing pages in 2026.

The ranking is editorial: a sponsored spot is always labeled on its card, and no affiliate link changes a rating.

The real reasons

Why teams move off Peec AI

Peec AI gets a lot right: a clean interface, a URLs tab showing which pages AI engines cite, unlimited seats, SOC 2 on every plan and CSV export everywhere. People leave for other reasons: engine coverage, the price once you add engines, and what the tool doesn't do. Six of them, all checked in 2026.

Three models per plan, no more

Starter ($95 a month), Pro ($245) and Advanced ($495) all track three models, picked from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver. Upgrading buys more prompts, never more engines. A fourth model is a paid add-on, priced by plan.

Perplexity and Claude sit outside the base plans

Perplexity isn't among the six standard models, and neither are Claude, Grok, DeepSeek or Mistral. Perplexity is a paid add-on or comes with custom-priced Enterprise; Claude, Grok, DeepSeek and Mistral are Enterprise only. If your buyers research on Perplexity, you'll pay more than the sticker price. Otterly, Scrunch and HubSpot AEO include it from their first plan.

One country and one project on Starter

Starter covers a single country and a single project. A brand selling in the US and the UK, or an agency with two clients, jumps straight to Pro at $245, which gives three countries and two projects. Your price depends on your structure, not just on prompt count.

It measures, but doesn't tell you what to do

This is the complaint that shows up most in reviews: Peec shows where you stand, without explaining how to improve or writing the content for you. One user after three months put it plainly: the method behind the visibility percentages isn't clear, and some charts only make sense on hover. Peec has added an agent and agent credits, but it's still a dashboard first.

No data before you signed up

Peec only knows what it tracked: you can't see your visibility from six months ago. Every tool in the category works this way, but it also makes leaving harder, since you start from zero at the next one. That's why the export matters.

A metric that depends on wording

On marketing forums, the doubt is about the whole category: one extra word in a prompt changes the answer, and several teams see no traffic impact at all. One Reddit user called it "vanity metrics". Switching tools won't fix that. Well-chosen prompts and presence-rate reporting will.

The 7 alternatives

Peec AI alternatives, tool by tool

For each tool: why switch to it, who it's for, its catch, how to move your prompts, and what it costs. Prices are the ones vendors list in 2026. Profound isn't ranked: it no longer publishes prices for brands (a 7-day trial, then custom Enterprise). Our switching from Profound guide explains why.

01

Otterly.AI: the cheapest way out, with Perplexity included

Cheapest

Why switch to Otterly. Perplexity isn't one of the six models on Peec AI's standard plans. On Otterly it's included from the first tier, alongside ChatGPT, AI Overviews and Copilot. Lite costs $29 a month for 15 prompts, Standard $189 for 100. If you mostly need to know whether your brand gets mentioned, and get an alert when that changes, this is the smallest bill on the page.

Who it's for. Solo marketers, consultants and small teams tracking a few dozen questions.

Who it's not for. Teams doing content research at scale. One reviewer who moved from Otterly to Peec did it precisely to explore topic angles faster, so going back the other way has a cost.

The catch. Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons, so add them up before you compare. Fifteen prompts runs out quickly, and the jump from Lite to Standard is steep ($29 to $189).

How to move. Export your Peec prompt list to CSV, keep the 50 that actually matter, and rebuild them in Otterly with the same wording and country. Use the free trial to run both tools side by side.

HubSpot AEO: $50 a month, or free if you already run HubSpot

Small budget

Why switch to HubSpot AEO. HubSpot sells its AI visibility tracker on its own: $50 a month ($45 billed annually) for 25 prompts on ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, no other HubSpot subscription required. If your company already pays for Marketing Hub Professional or Enterprise, it's included with a bigger prompt count. Dropping Peec then means cutting a line from the budget.

Who it's for. Teams already on HubSpot, and small brands that want Perplexity without an add-on.

Who it's not for. Teams that live in Google's AI answers: AI Overviews and AI Mode aren't on the engine list.

The catch. 25 prompts is half of Peec Starter. You can buy more any time, but the product page doesn't show the price of extra prompts. Ask before you sign.

How to move. Pick the 25 prompts closest to revenue from your Peec export. The trial is free with no card, so start it a week before your Peec renewal.

Scrunch: tracking plus page audits for a marketing team

Volume

Why switch to Scrunch. Scrunch adds what Peec doesn't do: page audits (5 a month on Core) showing what an AI engine reads on your site, personas (the buyer profile behind a question) and AI bot traffic tracking. Core tracks 125 prompts and 5,000 answers a month across ChatGPT, Perplexity, AI Overviews and Copilot.

Who it's for. Marketing teams of up to five people who want to move from measuring to fixing pages.

Who it's not for. Brands tracking more than 125 prompts, or needing Claude and Gemini: that takes custom-priced Enterprise (9 engines).

The catch. $250 a month, more than Peec Pro ($245, 150 prompts), for fewer prompts. One brand and one country on Core. The API is Enterprise only.

How to move. The 7-day trial needs no card, which is enough to load your 125 most useful Peec prompts and compare a first week. Define your personas before you start.

AthenaHQ: eleven engines and a free plan to start

Most engines

Why switch to AthenaHQ. Starter tracks 11 engines, including Claude, Grok, DeepSeek, Mistral and Meta AI, which Peec keeps for Enterprise. The Essential plan is free with 300 credits on five engines, so you can kick the tires for nothing.

Who it's for. Brands whose buyers use the long tail of assistants, or teams asked to report on Claude and Grok.

Who it's not for. Tight budgets that only care about ChatGPT and Google.

The catch. $295 a month for 3,600 credits, one credit per AI answer. Do the math: that's 30 prompts run daily on 4 engines. Extra credits cost more, and the price isn't public.

How to move. Start on Essential with your core prompts, then upgrade once the data makes sense. CSV export comes with Starter.

SE Ranking: SEO and AI visibility on one bill

SEO + AI

Why switch to SE Ranking. Peec only does AI visibility, so you still pay for an SEO tool next to it. SE Ranking bundles both. Core ($129 a month, $103.20 billed annually) and Growth ($279) include 25 prompts a day across 5 engines, on top of rank tracking and site audits.

Who it's for. Small businesses and SEO consultants cutting down on subscriptions.

Who it's not for. Teams tracking hundreds of prompts: the bundled quota is modest.

The catch. More prompts means the SE Visible add-on, from $71 a month, in tiers of 75, 200 or 1,000 prompts. The pricing page doesn't spell out each tier's price.

How to move. The 14-day trial needs no card and gives 20 prompts a day, enough for your top Peec prompts. Our switching from SE Ranking guide covers the other side.

Semrush: when your team already pays for it

Already on Semrush

Why switch to Semrush. Semrush Starter, at $199 a month ($165.17 billed annually), tracks 50 AI prompts a day, the same count as Peec Starter, plus the full SEO suite. If your team already has Semrush, Peec is a duplicate.

Who it's for. SEO teams already running Semrush.

Who it's not for. Brands that only want AI visibility.

The catch. The standalone AI Visibility Toolkit is $99 a month for 25 prompts ($60 a month for 50 more), with no free trial, and its prompt tracking covers ChatGPT and AI Mode. That's fewer prompts than Peec for about the same price.

How to move. Rebuild your prompts in the toolkit's prompt tracking. Our Semrush review breaks down the plans.

Ahrefs Brand Radar: AI visibility next to your backlinks

Already on Ahrefs

Why switch to Ahrefs. Brand Radar measures your presence in AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, inside the same tool as your backlinks and keywords. You see at a glance whether a page that earns links also earns citations.

Who it's for. Teams that already work in Ahrefs every day.

Who it's not for. Teams with no SEO use: Brand Radar is billed on top of Ahrefs.

The catch. Brand Radar AI starts at $199 a month. Users report numbers that get recalculated with each index update, so your trend line can shift after the fact.

How to move. Carry over your most important Peec topics and compare presence topic by topic. See our Ahrefs review and switching from Ahrefs.

Peec AI and 7 alternatives compared

Our default pick: Otterly for a small budget, Scrunch for a team that wants page audits. To compare like for like, take 50 prompts tracked daily on 3 engines. Peec Starter covers that exactly at $95. Otterly needs Standard at $189 (100 prompts). AthenaHQ Starter's 3,600 credits fall short of the 4,500 answers. HubSpot AEO needs extra prompts on top of its 25. One row per tool: engines on the left, entry price and catch on the right.

Migration plan

Leaving Peec AI in six steps

The risk isn't losing data (you can export everything). It's losing continuity in your measurement. Each step protects it.

01

Export prompts, tags and results to CSV

Before renewal

CSV export is included on every Peec plan. Pull three files: the prompt list with tags and topics, visibility results by period, and the cited sources from the URLs tab. Do it before your renewal date, not on the last day.

Why the results? No other tool imports your history into its charts. Those CSVs are your only record of the before.

Format
CSV
If you skip it
history lost
02

Prune prompts before you move them

Keep prompts that read like a real buyer question ("best payroll software for a 20-person company") and drop the ones that never taught you anything. Suggested prompts accepted in one click are usually the first to go.

Fewer prompts means a smaller plan at the destination, especially on AthenaHQ, where every prompt burns credits on every engine.

Payoff
smaller plan
03

Work out the real cost at the destination

The key math

The formula is the same everywhere: prompts × engines × frequency. 50 prompts on 3 engines daily is 4,500 answers a month, exactly Peec Starter's quota. On AthenaHQ, those 4,500 answers exceed Starter's 3,600 credits. On Otterly, 50 prompts means the $189 Standard plan.

Then add engine add-ons (Claude or Gemini on Otterly) and extra credits (AthenaHQ).

Formula
prompts × engines × frequency
04

Rebuild prompts word for word

Critical

Same wording, same language, same country. One extra word changes the AI's answer, and with it your measurement. If the destination takes a CSV, paste your list; if not, enter your 20 most important prompts first.

Recreate your tracked competitors too, with the same names and domains.

Rule
same words, same country
05

Run both tools for two to four weeks

AI answers shift on almost every run. SparkToro found that the same question returns the same list of brands less than once in a hundred times. So compare presence rates over several weeks, prompt by prompt, never one vendor's overall score against another's: each one computes it differently.

Duration
two to four weeks
Compare
presence rate per prompt
06

Set a new baseline, then cancel

On cutover day, log each metric's starting value in the new tool and warn whoever reads your reports: the line starts again from zero. Update your Looker Studio exports or internal dashboards, then cancel Peec.

If you skip it

Pitfalls

What makes an AI visibility tool switch go wrong

The same mistakes come up in reviews and forum threads. None of them is technical: they're comparisons made too fast.

Comparing scores that don't compare

Peec's visibility rate and Otterly's aren't computed the same way. If the line drops on cutover day, your brand didn't slip. Compare presence prompt by prompt during the parallel run.

Forgetting add-ons in the price

A low entry price can hide engine add-ons (Otterly), a tight prompt quota (Scrunch Core, 125 prompts) or per-engine credits (AthenaHQ). Run prompts × engines × frequency before you sign.

Rewording prompts during the move

Cleaning up wording during import breaks the comparison. Keep the exact words, then improve your prompts once the new baseline is set.

Canceling before exporting

A closed account is lost history. Export prompts, results and cited sources to CSV before your renewal date.

Picking a tool without your market

Check that the destination tracks prompts in your country and language. A ChatGPT answer in the UK isn't the same as in the US.

Paying twice for the same thing

If your team already has Semrush, Ahrefs or HubSpot Marketing Hub Professional, AI visibility may already be included. Check what you pay before adding a tool. Our ranking of the best AI visibility tools puts them all side by side.

  • Prompts, tags, topics and competitors exported to CSV

FAQ · 8 questions

Peec AI alternatives: frequently asked questions

  • Is there a cheaper alternative to Peec AI?

Yes: Otterly Lite at $29 a month for 15 prompts, and HubSpot AEO at $50 for 25 prompts. Both include Perplexity. Watch the volume though: at 50 tracked prompts, Otterly moves to Standard at $189, which costs more than Peec Starter at $95.

  • Is there a free Peec AI alternative?

Not for ongoing tracking. AthenaHQ has a free Essential plan (300 credits on five engines), and Scrunch, SE Ranking, Otterly and HubSpot AEO offer free trials. That's enough to compare, not to monitor your brand all year.

  • How much does Peec AI cost?

$95 a month for Starter (50 prompts, 1 country), $245 for Pro (150 prompts, 3 countries, API) and $495 for Advanced (350 prompts), all with three models and unlimited seats. Enterprise is custom. Each extra model is a paid add-on.

  • Does Peec AI track Perplexity?

Not in the base plan models. Perplexity comes as a paid add-on or with Enterprise. If it matters to you, look at Otterly, Scrunch or HubSpot AEO, which include it.

  • Can I take my data with me when I leave Peec AI?

You can export it to CSV on any plan, but no other tool imports it into its charts. Keep the files by period for comparisons, and plan two to four weeks of parallel tracking.

  • Peec AI vs Otterly: which one?

Otterly to monitor a few prompts cheaply with Perplexity included; Peec to explore many prompts and dig into cited pages. One reviewer who moved from Otterly to Peec did it for content research, not price.

  • What's the best Peec AI alternative for agencies?

Peec Starter has a single project, so agencies end up on Advanced (5 projects, $495). Otterly and Peec both give unlimited seats; Scrunch Core includes five. Check workspace limits before seat prices.

  • Is Peec AI SOC 2 compliant?

Yes, Peec AI lists SOC 2 as included on all four plans, and SSO on Enterprise. If compliance drives your decision, ask each alternative for its own report before you move.
