Overview

What changes when Claude can read your Clear Street account

A trader's morning usually jumps between the brokerage screen, a market data terminal, filings and a news feed. With this connector, you ask Claude one question and it gathers the pieces itself: what you hold, what it is worth now, what the fundamentals and analysts say, and what moved in the news, then reasons over all of it in plain English.

Review the portfolio before the open. An active trader asks how the account stands; get_account_positions returns quantities, market value and P&L, and get_account_balances adds buying power, cash, equity and margin.

Research an idea end to end. A portfolio manager screens for candidates with screen_instruments, then Claude reads each name's fundamentals, analyst consensus and latest income statements, and pulls related headlines with get_news.

Look at an options chain. Someone weighing a hedge asks for contracts on an underlier; get_option_contracts lists them by expiration, strike and call or put, and get_market_data_snapshot gives the live quote.

What it will not do: the address listed in the directory cannot place, modify or cancel orders under any circumstances, according to Clear Street. Nothing runs by itself when a price crosses a level either; Claude only acts while it answers you. The Integrations hub lists the platforms we document.

Vocabulary

Five words before you connect

The vocabulary Claude uses around this connector, in one minute.

Connector
The link you set up once between Claude and an account you already own, so Claude can work on it while it answers you.
Tool
One named thing a connector lets Claude do on that account. Claude picks the ones it needs; the directory sheet lists them by name.
Authorization
The Clear Street sign-in page, where you grant Claude the access it uses afterwards. Given once per person, and revocable.
Approval
The confirmation Claude waits for before it changes something in an account, shown in the conversation when it matters.
MCP
The shared standard connectors are built on: it is what lets an assistant such as Claude talk to an outside service like Clear Street.
Connect

Connect Clear Street to Claude in three steps

  1. 01

Find Clear Street in your settings

Open Claude's settings, go to Customize, then Connectors, and look for Clear Street. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, an Owner or Primary Owner has to enable it for the organization before members can sign in individually.

  2. 02

    Start the connection

Click Connect on its row, then sign in with your Clear Street credentials in the window Clear Street opens. If calls start failing later, Disconnect and connect again: Clear Street notes that its tokens expire.

  3. 03

    Read the authorization screen

Check what Clear Street's authorization screen covers before you accept. It belongs to Clear Street, not to Claude, and it sets the scope of the access. You can withdraw that access later in the same place.

Tools

The 23 tools, grouped by what they do

Clear Street gives Claude 23 tools: 22 that read your account, 0 that change something in it, and 1 no official source describes.

Two groups: twenty-two tools Clear Street documents as read-only, and one the directory names without any description. Names stay exactly as Claude shows them.

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_clock

Gives the current server time in UTC. A single reference time for every question that depends on the date.

an analyst wants to know whether free cash flow covers the dividend.

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_instrument_events

When it helps

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

Tells Claude the US equities and options market hours, the current session and the next sessions.

When it helps
you plan around a long weekend and wonder whether markets open on the Monday, and when exactly the next session starts.

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_news

Gathers news and press releases filtered by time, publisher, instrument and sector, which Claude can then summarise or link to price action.

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

get_option_contracts

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

list_accounts

Enumerates every account you can access and shows whether trading is enabled on each, which tells Claude which account a question applies to.

When it helps
a family office with several accounts wants to confirm which ones Claude can see.

Sourcedocs.clearstreet.com · October 1, 2026 ↗

screen_instruments

Screens the instrument universe with structured filters and sorts over fundamentals, analyst and liquidity fields, so Claude can shortlist ideas that meet your criteria.

Not documented (1)

1 tool

The directory publishes this tool's name, and Clear Street's guide does not list it. We do not guess what it does.

get_market_data_daily_summary

No official source documents this tool: it appears on the directory sheet, but Clear Street's MCP guide, which describes the twenty-two others, does not list it. We draw no conclusion from its name.

Watch out
the general approval rule below applies to it as to every other tool.
Approvals

What Claude asks before acting

By default, Claude stops and asks for your go-ahead before each action it takes on an account for you. On the read-only address listed here, Clear Street says no order can be placed at all.

On Team and Enterprise workspaces, owners decide whether members may let some actions through without being asked each time. They can also limit what a connector may do for the whole organization, for example keeping reading and closing writing, and nobody overrides that from their own account. Claude works with the rights of the person who signed in, and Clear Street adds its own lock: an account filter in the address keeps the connector away from every other account.

Plans

Which plans include it

None of the 819 sheets in the official directory shows availability by plan. Connector by connector, that answer is published nowhere: it is a real gap in the catalogue.

What is published is the general rule: remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile. On Team and Enterprise, an Owner or Primary Owner turns the connector on for the organization before each member connects. For the current state of this one, check its sheet in the official directory, the only place showing it.

Limits

Where this connector stops

A connector is not an automation. Claude calls these tools while it answers you; nothing fires when a price crosses a level or an order fills.

The tool list is an observed floor, not a promise: an administrator can open actions that no public sheet shows. The verification badge is not a security audit, and Anthropic states on every sheet that it does not control which tools a publisher exposes. Only Clear Street documents this connector; no Claude help article covers it. Clear Street also reminds users that assistants can make mistakes, and that account activity deserves regular review. For a CRM-side comparison, see the Claude affinity connector.

FAQ

Questions about the Claude Clear Street connector

01What can Claude do with the Clear Street connector?
Claude can read your Clear Street account and research instruments for you. Twenty-two documented tools cover balances, positions, orders and portfolio history, instrument search and screening, reference data, fundamentals, analyst views, financial statements, corporate events, option contracts, live snapshots, market hours and news. A twenty-third tool sits on the directory sheet without any description from Clear Street, so we do not say what it does. Every answer comes from those tools, read live.
02Can Claude place or cancel trades through this connector?
Not through the address listed on the directory sheet. Clear Street says its read-only address cannot place or cancel orders under any circumstances, and the order tools only exist on a separate trading address that also requires the Trade permission. On that other address, Clear Street warns that Claude can submit orders without approvals. A read-only sheet is the floor observed today rather than a lifetime guarantee. Check which address you connected.
03Does Claude ask before it pulls my account data?
Claude's default rule is to ask for confirmation before any action it takes on an account on your behalf. No source describes a specific confirmation for the Clear Street read tools, so that general rule applies to all twenty-three. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners also decide whether members may let some actions run without a new prompt each time, and they can restrict the connector for everyone in the organization.
04Which Claude plans include the Clear Street connector?
No official source publishes plan availability connector by connector, and none of the 819 directory sheets shows it. The general rule is that remote connectors are open to all users on Claude, Cowork, Claude Desktop and mobile, with an Owner or Primary Owner enabling them first on Team and Enterprise. Clear Street's guide names no Claude plan. Only the connector's sheet in the official directory shows its current state for your account.
05Does Claude see every account I hold at Clear Street?
It sees the accounts your Clear Street login is entitled to, and nothing more. Clear Street adds a finer control: you can append one or more account IDs to the connector address, and the assistant then cannot touch any account outside that filter, whatever your entitlements. The list_accounts tool shows every account you can access and whether trading is enabled on each, which is the quickest way to check the scope. On a Team or Enterprise workspace, owners can also restrict the connector for everyone.
06Why do my Clear Street requests suddenly fail?
One documented cause is an expired session. Clear Street explains that its tokens expire and need to be refreshed, so a connector that worked yesterday can start returning authorization errors on every call. In Claude, the fix is to disconnect the connector and connect it again, then sign in once more on Clear Street's page. Reconnecting does not change the address: the read-only one listed on the sheet stays read-only. Clear Street also reminds users that assistants can make mistakes and that account activity deserves regular review.
07Claude or an automation tool for Clear Street?
They answer different needs, so the choice depends on the task rather than on a ranking. Claude suits research and account questions asked on the spot, such as a pre-market review or a quick look at an options chain, and it only acts while you are talking to it. An automation tool suits repeated jobs that run without you, such as a nightly export of positions to a spreadsheet. Many traders use both, for different moments of the day.
